Guest Reviews
- David (3/5): Not really happening - Very little Everything
- Stevens (1/5): Not good - Toilet was blocked, kitchen sink was also blocked and water was dropping from the kitchen spot light
- Tracey (8/5): Despite the initial shock & with less than 24 hours before check-in, that Carew Place wasn’t available, Helen at Blu - We actually stayed in the Blue Skies Puffin House, due to a maintenance issue at Carew Place, so can’t actually review Carew Place.
Thankfully we were offered Puffin house instead.
Warm, very clean & comfortable.
A great place to stay whilst visiting family over the Christmas break.
Would recommend. Due to the unfortunate circumstances & having to change properties last minute, meant we were further away from my family.
We would recommend defrosting the freezer as we were unable to open any of the drawers due to ice making them unmovable.
Otherwise, there wasn’t a lot we didn’t like about the property.
- Hilary (7/5): Good location - Liked the location The heating was off when we came and struggled to work out how to switch it on. It took a long time before the house warmed up.Couldn't log into the WiFi at first as the code given wasn't right.Couldnt download the house manual. It log in wasn't recognised.
- Neville Robson (8/5): Perfect location near to the beachfront - Location was great,5 minutes walk to the beachfront.Nice Park right next to the property.
The house was clean & comfortable,a nice touch was the welcome pack. There are no mirrors at all in the house..So it was difficult to see to dry your hair etc.
A shaving mirror in he bathroom would be useful.
- Elinor (5/5): Seaton carew house - The location was perfect. Beds comfortable, living room was comfortable. Nice and warm The resident slugs and loads of slug trails in kitchen and living room. Drains need attention. They smell and the shower drain doesn't drain well. Lots of cobwebs. Very loose tap in kitchen and broken tile in kitchen/hallway. Also noticed that there is very blocked guttering on the back. Carpet needs a really good clean.
- Andrew (1/5): Dirty and in desperate need of repair! - Great position overlooking quiet park. House is in desperate need of deep clean and renovation work! On arrival hot water boiler was drained so no hot water or heating - no instructions on how to fill boiler to pressure to get it working - thankfully know how to do this from experience! - Flat batteries in boiler and TV remotes - luckily I had some with me! Door into living room and bathroom were both off their top hinge and obviously not opening or closing, againg luckily was able to fix this as I had tools in car and thought it would be easier to sort myself than trying to call someone out on evening of arrival. While i carried out the essential DIY. the wife had to wash fridge and freezer out before use as they were filthy! The oven & grill were also dirty - full of smelly fat from someone grilling - just never used as stunk and we had enough of cleaning by now!!! Bathroom ceiling full of black mould. Unable to let dog out into garden un-supervised as big hole in gate and fence to side had blew down (grass was also about foot long). Bins at property were all full with bags of food waste piled on top. The thing what tops all of above though is the visitors that come out of gaps in skirting boards on a night!! At first it looked as if someone had sprayed crazy string around living room as there were glittery trails on carpet, however we found that this was caused by slugs that appeared from behind skirting boards on a nightly basis!! I will be reporting this property to environmental health and do not recommend anyone stay there while it is in its current state of repair!!!!
- Nicole (8/5): A house that grows on you - It was a convenient and nice location, the beds were great, the chairs in the lounge were so comfy, checkout was a little later than normal. It was a house that really grew on me. At first I just thought it was just a white and grey box, but then began to appreciate it more. Thinking about it nothing, a few doors don’t fit. The welcome box is easily overlooked (sorry) I thought tea and bread was staples of them normally. No, I quite liked it. We needed a place where we could quickly exercise our dog and let him have fun, before getting to Janes Cook hospital and the house allowed us to do just that. Would stay there again.
- Hayleigh (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (9/5): Great, relaxing stay - Great for access to all amenities in Seaton Carew Information about recieving code for lockbox
- Stevens (8/5): Very good - Could have done with a tv in the bedrooms
- Kathy (5/5): disappointing - the location was very good - lovely beach and park within a minute or two of the property. The beds were comfortable. on arrival, the property had no heating or hot water. it was a very cold day and we had travelled for hours. I called the management who said the boiler was broken and they would send out an engineer. we waited several hours. in the end a family member who lives locally had to come and fix it despite several calls on my part urging them to please send someone out. We were disappointed as we would have expected heating and hot water as a standard basic requirement of the property. The property was basic, and not too clean - snail trails on the carpet , spiders, cobwebs, crumbs on the floor. the freezer was broken and there were some plastic casings coming away in the kitchen. the front garden was very overgrown . after feedback the owner seemed unconcerned. Overall a rather disappointing experience. Such a shame as the location was absolutely perfect for us but because of other issues it is unlikely that we will return.
- Simon (7/5): Great house with huge potential - Just needs cleaning prior to renting. - Brilliant location Cleanliness- dirty floors/carpets and rubbish underneath the single beds. Just required a general clean, kitchen work surfaces/cutlery etc. Also the garden required weeding and the gate repaired.
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - It was lovely, home from home. Very bright airy and nice and cosy. Beds very comfy too.
Very understanding and kind staff!! There wasn't anything not to like.
- Bray (7/5): Lovely time ideal for all we wanted , would definitely consider staying again - Seaton House is lovely and spacious, while we were just 2. there would have been plenty of space for four. It was nice to have a separate lounge to kitchen diner and a shower and bath meant all tastes were catered for. While not being overly furnished and equipped, it had everything we needed to be able to self-cater. Off street parking was a real bonus. The property itself is very well located being in a quiet area that is only a few minutes walk to the sea front - and fish and chip shops. It was perfect place for us to explore Hartlepool and the surrounding area, including trips to the Naval Museum and Heugh Battery, and the Nuclear Power Station Visitor's Centre, which we greatly enjoyed. Outside kerb appeal was poor with both the garden and drive needing a tidy , long grass needing cutting and drive looked scruffy with lots of weeds growing - not reflecting the inside of the property.
In the kitchen the freezer needed defrosting, as it was difficult to keep the door closed. The main oven is still not working but the top oven was fine for what we needed.
The Dining room did not feel very private or cosy as the main entrance patio doors did not have a blind or curtains and therefore it felt anyone passing by could look straight in.
A cracked shaving mirror and faulty sink plug let the otherwise lovely bathroom down.
With just a little bit more attention to detail we would have easily scored this a 9.
- Rebecca (8/5): Very good - Nice quiet area, good stay.plenty shops near by. Just of the town and beach. Lots of spiders, old cobwebs. Could do with a clean l.
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Victoria (8/5): Very good - very clean lovely location the cooker was faulty
- Cymrulou69 (9/5): Nice property in nice location with easy access to local beach & the town of Hartlepool - Easy access, nice location in quiet street. Good communication from hosts prior to arrival. Nice beach five minutes walk & park area 2 minutes away. Close to train station. Comfortable but basic accommodation. Had everything we needed for a short stay. Host messaged to advise oven wasn’t working properly & provided an air fryer for us to have cooking facilities. Beds were comfortable. Parking on driveway. Would stay again. Dishes & cutlery was dirty in cupboards.
No curtains/blinds on patio doors which was the main entrance to house. No privacy in dining room/kitchen open space due to bare patio windows.
- Amber (6/5): Great location and newly decorated - Fantastic location and modern decor. Wasn't very clean. No black out curtains so bedrooms were very bright at night time. I believe we may have been the first guests, so I attribute some of the negatives as simply being due to that.
