Guest Reviews
- ALAN (1/5): Absolutely terrible stay booked for 4 nights only stayed 1 night at a cost of 400 pounds would like - The hotel was dirty and full of imagrants we also got bites from bed bugs Nothing
- Matthew (8/5): Great location for downtown Taunton - I have stayed here several times on yearly visits to Taunton. It's well-located and convenient. Bathroom and toilet in one room instead of two would have been preferable but not a major issue.
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Rachael (10/5): - Lovely room, nice and spacious. Friendly staff. Great location.
- Lea (9/5): -
- Ivy (3/5): - The staff are friendly and the location is good It is overpriced for what you receive. The bed was uncomfortable, the rooms do not look like pictures, shower was not good and the walls are very thin so you hear banging of doors and people walking around.
- Andrew (8/5): Stayed for two nights and was exactly as advertised - no frills, no meals etc but perfect for what I needed. Staff very -
- Sarah cb (9/5): -
- Adrian (9/5): -

- Andrew (7/5): The Royal Ashton Town House - It was comfortable, and well-situated for our purposes. I would have expected, for £99 per night, that breakfast of some sort would have been included.
- Stella (10/5): - Staff where absolutely amazing so friendly had a lovely experience
- Joshua (9/5): Friendly staff. Lovely rooms. Perfect location. - Very friendly welcome on arrival. Was able to access my room quickly and the room was clean and comfortable. Stayed here twice now for the Cricket and it's perfect for that in terms of location.
- Sandra (10/5): My stay was amazing 😻 - I loved the location of the property, the size of my apartment, and the staff are amazing💖 I wish the size of fridge was bigger in the apartment.
- Reisender22 (7/5): - Sehr nettes Personal, großes Zimmer An einer sehr lauten Straße gelegen, viele Treppen und Gänge kreuz und quer bis zum Zimmer
- Jonathan (9/5): Exceeded my expectations - Love the location of this hotel, just round the corner from the station, perfect to land, drop the luggage, freshen up then go into town. Very friendly and helpful staff, and a lovely room, spacious with good facilities including a fridge. Slept well on a comfy bed. N/A
- Sue (8/5): Confortable bed - large fluffy towels. Kettle in room. Very helpful receptionist. Thank you - Location
- Cox (8/5): Very convenient and good value for money. Very good staff - Staff very friendly and helpful. Everything clean and in good working order. Good value for money. Near the station. I had a ground floor room and the weather was hot. I would have liked to open the window but was afraid an intruder could climb in. It would have been good to have a device on the window to allow it to be opened a couple of inches but not enough for burglars to get in. I have no other complaints
- frank (8/5): - Aardig personeel, ruim appartement, goede prijs Kamer lag aan drukke straat
- Margo (7/5): -
- Ali (8/5): Very convenient, no issues. Have used before, will do again - Nearly in the town and next to railway station Stairs
- Orthalex (1/5): I will never consider tgis place again - Location near train station Receptionist totally unprofessional and rude on checking in
- Mark (8/5): Did what I needed it to do! - Convinient for the railway station Room was small, enclosed with little air and the stairs to upstairs rooms were above the bed.
- Keith (7/5): -
- ndukwe (4/5): It’s a fairly good place. Need good maintenance - Is to locate and closer to the train station Not too standard for the amount
- Roisin (8/5): - The staff were excellent. We had an issue with one of the rooms but were moved to a different one with no difficulty. Having the use of a kitchen was useful. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable.
- Stuart (8/5): Great for an overnight stay - Great space for good value Lack of comfortable furniture on the lounge area
- Anne (6/5): Close to cricket, shops, takeaways. Room small - smallest bathroom, difficult to sit on toilet (husband is 6ft1) so careful getting out of shower, not to end up on toilet! no floor space. Room was quite dark and so small. The shower had a mind of its own, the hose attached! it fell out onto husband head! bathroom and room overall
- Hill (5/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful during the evening and night! The sharp change of staff to be honest were hostile towards a handicaped man
- Jane (5/5): -
- Elsbeth (7/5): - Very close to railway Hot room
- Ian from Devon and Auckland (8/5): Perfect town centre accommodation - Location near town centre.
Exceptional value of £135 for one night in a 2 bedroom self catering apartment with a small courtyard.
Warm and cheerful welcome from the receptionist.
Everything you need and available on request.
Short 5 minute walk from the train station and if you arrive by car parking available for a modest fee at the station. Nothing.
- Richard (8/5): Perfect for what I wanted - Short walk from the railway station and not far to shops, cafes and the town centre. Simple hotel but clean and with very welcoming reception staff. My economy room had very little storage space - but that wasn't a problem for a one-night stay.
- Jamie (10/5): Fantastic stay, warm freindly staff. Super comfy bed and close to station, shops and restaurants - Close to station, good value and very welcoming staff
- Lorenzo (10/5): -
- Neil (7/5): Pleasant - Location close to rail station was important for me
- Marco (10/5): -
- Anthony (6/5): Reasonable Hotel Close To Station - Located very close to the station and the staff were friendly. The room was very clean and looked to have been modernised fairly recently. The shower had great water pressure which is rare for a hotel. Whilst there’s no dining provisions in the hotel - there’s plenty of takeaways etc on the same road. Sleepless nights was my main issue - paper thin walls with noisy neighbour and room overlooking busy street so didn’t sleep well at all sadly. The bathroom was also incredibly small.
- Adriel (4/5): Good location, but loud. - The front desk staff were very nice. We were given an 'upgrade' which meant we had a full kitchen but as we were only there for a night didn't use it. The room was very large, and had a view out onto the street. The location is very convenient as we took the train and could reach everywhere in town very easily. Had booked two singles but the upgrade was a double and a sofa bed. The double was fine, but the sofa bed was too short for my daughter and very uncomfortable. We were right next to the road which was very noisy when we were trying to get to sleep, and the blinds let in most of the light. We could hear everybody in the room next to ours. Perhaps other days of the week it isn't that bad, but there was live singing from the pub which was very loud.
- Steve (8/5): Great for cricket - Great location and price All ok
- Samuel (7/5): -
- James (10/5): - Friendly welcome upon arrival Nothing
- Słabolepsza (10/5): -
- Guoqing (10/5): -
- Tim (8/5): - welcoming staff, sorted out a poblem I had with the shower.
- Martin (10/5): Very relaxing stay, would recommend - Great location for the train station & shops Can’t fault
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Andrew (5/5): - Check-in and location for what I needed couldn't be faulted. Room was spacious for a single and TV, bed, bathroom all good. Ground floor room street facing was very hot, but with windows open was very noisy. Local business's very noisy until late was far from ideal with a 5am start
- Chris St Clair (1/5): Awful experience - Nothing People coming and going all night. Very noisy. In need of a serious revamp of furniture and redecorating. Shower barely big enough to get into. Bed hard and pillows like bricks. Needs serious money invested in the place to make it value for money. Very rundown.
- Mark (9/5): -
- Marilyn (7/5): - Easy walk to station. Plenty of places to eat. Very helpful staff Other guests smoking right outside window and smoke coming in open window
- Michael (8/5): -
- Robert (10/5): - All the staff were very friendly and very helpful. The location was very good as we were going to the cricket. Nothing to dislike.
- Ted (7/5): - Easy to get to. Only a short walk from the train station. We visted to watch cricket which was also only a short walk away. Room was ready so we could check in early. Let us leave our bag in reception on check out until our train departed. Met all of our needs for a short stay. I am tall (6ft,3) so my feet were out the end of the bed
- anita (8/5): -
- Ali (8/5): Close to all facilities, quiet and clean. - Near to facilities Nothing
- Dean (8/5): Could of unfortunately been so much better if we were on the ground floor as it was with great difficulty that I managed - Location We’re booked a twin room and were told it was on the ground floor so I didn’t contact the property to confirm unfortunately my friend has difficulties with stairs and tripped on the first night going down and cracked 2 ribs leaving him be ridden for 2 days and unable to enjoy the last 2 days of the cricket we had planned to watch
- Lois (1/5): Horrific - The staff were extremely abrupt and rude. When I’d ask anything I’d have eyes rolled at me. There was nothing to like about this place my room was disgusting dead insects on the wall and wallpaper hanging off the walls. The property itself is nothing like advertised. My room was disgustingly stank of mould and had half of the wallpaper hanging off the walls and ceiling. There was dead insects that have been splattered on the walls and not cleaned off. Dust in and on the bed. I couldn’t stay there and had to re-accommodate myself. The next day they had an incident with lots of police so happy I chose to leave
- Sale (7/5): -
- Christ (9/5): -
- moussa (10/5): -
- Helen (10/5): - Excellent location, close to the station, but quiet. Friendly welcoming staff, super clean, comfy bed & hot shower complete with lovely linen & towels. The fridge & kettle with tea, coffee & milk were super good.
- hilary (8/5): I would use again for a similar trip near train station - Good location near to railway station, very helpful staff, sufficient information. It has single rooms. Facilities in room adequate for short stays. It’s old and basic, but that is reflected in price.
- Hannah (6/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): Good stay, good value for Money, attentive staff. - No food served at the Hotel, however it is right next to several eateries and 4 pubs. Plenty of good grub. The TV (did not work even after ALL my technical abilities).
- Miranda (9/5): Welcoming hotel in a great location. - The hotel is in a great location close to the train station. The staff were very friendly & welcoming. The room was clean & well equipped & the bed was large & comfortable. We would recommend this hotel & would happily stay again.
- Alistair (9/5): Excellent value for money. - Value for money. Quiet and comfortable. Absolutely fine for a one-night stay. No parking.
- PetLaw (10/5): Must give this hotel a try - Better than some 5* hotels for comfort basic needs
- Deborah (10/5): Great stay - Staff amazingly friendly and helpful. Couldn’t do enough for us. They upgraded us to the ground floor flat, did some ironing for us and helped with advise on where to go.
Comfy beds and lowly little outside area. Close to the town centre and all amenities. No parking but 2 minute walk from the multi storey and you could unload outside for an hour.
- Heather (8/5): Clean, nice, quiet, comfortable, tiny bathroom - Close to train station. Everything I needed, wonderful to have the fridge. Quiet , staff were great. Bed was comfortable. The only problems was the bathroom.
It was clean and well maintained but it was the smallest bathroom I have ever seen. If I had been any taller, I could not have sat on the toilet without my knees hitting the wall.
It needs a shelf to put things on by the sink.
The shower doors are difficult to fit through . If you are a large person you would not fit unless you turned sideways.
There is no where to put soap and products when you shower. You can not enter and exit the shower with your entire body in the bathroom.
You can not dry yourself off in the area in front of the shower because it is so tiny.
The circle mirror in the room needs to be raised so a person can actually stand and use the mirror.
I would however stay again as it was otherwise nice.
- Harry (10/5): Very nice place, very lovely staff / hosts - great location too - Everything WiFi connection was pretty bad, but I was pretty high up on floors
- Nicola (10/5): Really glad we found this hotel. - Location and friendly welcoming staff Nothing except maybe lack of parking.
- Becky (9/5): Will be using again as the staff won my daughter over - Lovely, friendly helpful staff which made mine and my daughter's stay. very welcoming and eased her anxiety. Clean and great for budget hotel My daughter would like a lock on the bathroom door, bed was very hard and easier if there was parking but was ok as it was reasonable to 24hrs somewhere else
- Russell (7/5): -
- June (9/5): Happy, very obliging, helpful lovely staff. -
- Baker (7/5): -
- Cook (8/5): Pleasant and friendly, clean and warm, I couldn't get in touch via email though - N/A N/A
- Arthurs (9/5): -
- Amy (10/5): Enjoyable and relaxing. - I absolutely loved the room as it had 2 separate beds in their own room. The staff were absolutely lovely so much I've booked again. They are just adorable people. Nothing except I couldn't get my tv to work but I think that was a me problem.
- Austin (5/5): Fine for an overnight stay. - Friendly welcome , plenty of room and very clean. Handy location. Our room was in need of some repairs. The kitchen area lacked enough equipment to cook.
- Vincent (8/5): -
- mat (8/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - Everything and Gff was superb for myself and my wife
- Adomas (10/5): -
- Guest (8/5): -
- Susan (7/5): As an overnight pit stop it was great. Thank you - Closeness to Station and central to town. With no breakfast provision the fridge was a great idea. The receptionist was so helpful when I lost my phone. Would have loved a chair in my room! However it was not very big so think space may have been an issue, but a folding one would have done.
- Viorica (7/5): Great staff. Good location. - Location. Close to the station. Noise . Dirty bath towel . I couldn't believe it.
- richard (3/5): - location badly disturbed second night @ 0300
- Rebecca (6/5): Convenient location for my stay, the pros outweighed the cons. - The staff were friendly and helpful both the guy in reception and the chamber maid. It was nice having a communal kitchen so I could make my porridge for breakfast and nice to have fridge in the room. The location was very convenient having come on the train and attending an event opposite the train station. The room had a largish paint patch peeling off the wall by the bed which made room feel shabby. The window (etched out lower 2/3) looked out onto a roof and walls/windows, so room felt boxed in. A light from window at right angles kept turning on at night and waking me up. The staff said it was people walking near sensor but I never heard people, just the light repeatedly coming on. Noticed if I had not pre-booked this single room I could have had a double at £2 less.
- Frank (10/5): -
- Carrie (8/5): Would definitely stay again. - It was value for money and the beds were very comfortable. The receptionist was lovely. No parking .
- Amir (10/5): -
- Clive (8/5): Nice stay with friendly staff. - I booked a room for 2 adults, a child and a small dog. When I arrived a mistake had been made by a member of staff and I was booked onto the 2 nd floor. As dogs were not allowed on the 2nd floor this was a problem. However the management sorted the problem and put us all in a 1st floor apartment at no extra cost. Very much appreciated. The hotel itself was clean however the outside was dirty and seemed rough. No parking at the hotel was not good but it was clearly stated to us before hand.
- Alan (6/5): - Nice size room answered clise to center of town
- Elliot (8/5): -
- Claire (8/5): Fab, just what we needed for a one night family stop off during our journey. - We stayed in the two bedroom apartment. The apartment was simply decorated and had the basics but did have very comfy beds. It was spacious and quiet. The kitchen was useful for self catering and preparing a pack lunch for the next morning travelling. Just what we needed for a one night stop off. A proper sofa in the lounge.
- chris (7/5): - All ok Car parking doesn't exist
- Daniel (8/5): - Everything was fine, the staff were very nice and helpful, it was clean and pleasant. Thank you very much. It was a nice stay in Taunton.
