- Danas (10/5): -
- Woodcock (10/5): - Gorgeous view with very friendly staff
- Mila (7/5): -
- Hùng (10/5): - View đẹp nhất trên cung đường sát sông. Không gian yên tĩnh. Phù hợp để nghỉ ngơi. Phòng ốc không mới nhưng sạch sẽ. Cô chủ nhà rất thân thiện vui vẻ
- Vance (7/5): A great river view. Comfy beds. Attentive staff. Needs some care and maintenance. - Fantastic location Access to river was bad.
Lack of overall care and maintenance.
- Emily (10/5): Beautiful! - A beautiful and unique home stay along the river. The view was amazing and we loved the hammocks. The homestay is run by a lovely family who were so helpful and kind to us for our stay. The breakfast was really nice and there are free bicycles to explore. They very kindly arranged an earlier check in for us after our sleeper bus got in very early. Thank you for everything! Nothing
- Kelly (7/5): Amazing value for money, but bring ear plugs! - Such friendly staff, gorgeous views from the makeshift shipping container rooms. Free bicycle use, 15min cycle into town. The owner was a cave guide so is very knowledgable and can help with booking tours. Balconies shared with adjacent rooms (not for everyone but we didn’t mind). Very relaxed and chill vibe, really adds to the experience of being in Phong Nha :) Very little sound proofing meant that someone walking up the stairs sounded like thunder , waking us up at 11pm or 6am! Could also hear conversations from rooms above and next door. Bring ear plugs! Very minimal facilities in the room but for a short stay it’s fine.
- Thủy Tiên (8/5): -
- Veenstra (9/5): Enorme aanrader!!
- Rebecca (9/5): Lovely homestay in a gorgeous location, one of our highlights of the trip for sure! - Gorgeous view from the rooms, very peaceful area but close to restaurants and bars. Beds were very comfortable! Free use of paddle boards and bikes which is lovely, and the breakfast was really good! The hosts are amazing and made sure our stay was good. …
- Stefanie (10/5): -
- Martha (10/5): - Highly recommend this place, amazing for couples, so relaxing. Can use the bikes for free and breakfast is great Get the google translate out for the best communication with the lovely lady who owns it
- Ghizlane (10/5): Hidden gem! - By far, my favorite stay in whole Vietnam. It is truly peaceful and you get to experience slow local life. Everything you need is close by. In the morning you can use the Kayak for free. I initially booked for 3 nights and ended up staying a whole week. I would definitely come back. -
- Romain (8/5): -
- Lilly (10/5): -
- Emma (8/5): -
- Darian (9/5): Excellent - Gorgeous riverside view from the first floor balcony and the whole property. Hammocks and outdoor furniture are available. Lovely staff, big rooms with comfy beds and good bathrooms. Free bikes to cycle into town - probably a twenty min cycle to the main street. Good breakfast. Slightly far from the town but so peaceful and calm we didn't mind. Walls are slightly thin.
- Veronique (10/5): Parfaite halte - Accueil, chambre, restaurant parfaits ! Halte à conseiller Rien
- Sven (8/5): -
- barbara (4/5): Great view but overall a big disappointment. - Great view, comfortable bed, clean linens The building was sketchily constructed and the room itself was in a sorry state. Water stains on the ceiling, cracked linoleum, gaps in the shower paneling, marks on the walls and it looked like some kind of critter had gnawed a corner of the drapes. There was nowhere in the bathroom to set anything down and we were provided with a used bar of soap. When people were walking up and down the stairs it sounded like someone banging on our wall. Not really a problem in the night once people settled in but not ideal. Of the 30 or so Homestays located along the river this was one of the more pricier options. That and the high reviews from previous guests lent to higher expectations. We checked out after the first night we were so disappointed.
- Lara (10/5): Amazing would definitely recommend. - This Homestay is absolutely amazing. We had the best time and the hosts are also extremely accommodating the lady was really nice and helpful. Definitely the best place we have stayed in Vietnam. N/A
- Minh-Anh (10/5): -
- B (7/5): Amazing view, great food, nice owners … - The view from our room was beautiful! The food was great, the bed was very comfortable and overall it was good value for money. The owner also pre-arranged a jungle night walk for us which was exceptional :) We had a lovely hot shower the first day but the next 2 days we seemed to time our showers badly as there was no hot water.
Being storage containers it was loud when those upstairs were walking around or on the stairs. Also there was no air and towels didn’t dry inside.
- Emily (10/5): -
- Sarah (7/5): -
- Monnie (9/5): Spectacular views, I wish I could stay longer! - River view from the room is stunning I ended up staying another night so I could have a day to just relax. Phuong speaks English well and it was easy to communicate with him. He is an easy going and friendly host. I would've loved a kettle in my room but no real complaints
- Harvey (7/5): - Views and staff was great, rooms need some TLC and was also a mouse living in the room
- Alain (9/5): -
- Yasmine (10/5): - The view is insane, the hosts are very very nice, the breakfast and the food we ordered for dinner were both so good. The room was nice and clean with a beautiful river view. I would 100% recommend Nothing
Echt mijn lievelings verblijf in Vietnam. -
- Theshani (10/5): - We had such a great stay here. Phuong was an incredible host, and his mother-in-law cooked all our meals, everything was home-made and honestly some of the best food we had on the trip, especially the stir Fried noodles for breakfast!
Phuong went out of his way to look after us. He even arranged for his wife to stay overnight in Da Nang so they could pick us up from Ba Na Hills in their own car. He spent two full days showing us around — Paradise Cave, Phong Nha Cave, and the botanical gardens. He was amazing with the kids too, really patient and attentive.
The homestay itself is really cool. It’s built from shipping containers, which makes it feel unique and a bit quirky. It’s about 25 minutes from the town centre, but Grabs are easy to get and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The area is peaceful with beautiful river views.
What made the stay special was how welcome we felt. For a few days, it genuinely felt like we were part of Phuong’s family. Highly recommend.
- Henri (10/5): 10/10 would recommend this place!!! - Love the view, love the location, most of all, loved the staff. They were super friendly, super welcoming and super accommodating! Wished we stayed longer, can’t fault the place, felt very homey and waking up to this view was truly breathtaking. N/A
- Lok Yiu (10/5): I’d like to visit again. - Friendly host, good homestay meal and drink, right by the river
- Grant (10/5): -
- Charlotte (10/5): - Simple accommodation in reused containers. Amazing view over river, with wonderful host. Nothing.
- Olivia (5/5): -
- Matylda (10/5): -
- Filippo (10/5): -
- Tuấn (9/5): - - Anh chị chủ nhiệt tình, thân thiện
- Ăn tối ngon
- View sông hoàng hôn siêu đẹp
- Phòng nhìn chung đầy đủ tiện nghi, khá sạch sẽ - Thiếu nước rửa tay ở mỗi phòng
- Truong (6/5): Overall, it didn’t quite live up to the price - Great location and view. The host cooks delicious meals and offers free breakfast! Shuttle buses for tours can easily pick you up from here Downsides: The beautiful balcony view in the family room is shared with the neighboring room, so it lacked the privacy we were hoping for. Because of that, we spent most of our time just looking out at the river and mountains-but from inside.
The room is converted from a shipping container, not a solid house, so the soundproofing is very poor. The floor, walls, and ceiling are also quite worn down and not as new or well-maintained as shown in the photos.
The host was very kind and friendly, but unfortunately the bedsheet wasn’t very clean
- Campbell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thanh (8/5): Great location - Good location and friendly host The property starts running down
- Kaminer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location, it’s a bit out of the town centre but you can easily organise a taxi with the owner or use Grab. The view was incredible and the owner Phuong is so nice and helped us with anything we needed Nothing
- Olivia (9/5): Superb - Cool riverside private rooms with ensuite. Quiet, clean and located 10 min drive from busy city Centre. Phong the owner and his family are very friendly and helpful, able to give good recommendations for tours Sometimes bugs in the rooms
- Luca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cornelia (8/5): Simple homestay in quiet area - Right at the end of the main road, away from the hustle and bustle. Depends on if you want a peaceful and quiet getaway - then this is the place! The views from the rooms and property are amazing! It’s a simple homestay where the rooms are made up of shipping containers. Homemade food is served here. The owner is a cave guide and can get you on any of the tours around the area. Perfect place to stay while exploring the caves for a few days. Close your doors as soon as the sun starts to set to not get a million mosquitos into your room.
- Scarlett (7/5): Good -
- Dahlia (8/5): Very good -
- Lucia (8/5): Very good - We had a really nice stay here. Private room with a view and used the paddle boards and rental motorbikes. The owners mother was lovely and cooked us dinner and breakfasts. The location is the last place along the river which is nice and peaceful but not a quick walk to restaurants. We had some issues with booking a bus through the homestay - the shuttle that was included in the ticket price never got organised (even after confirming twice) so we missed the bus. He booked us another 2 hours later but just be aware.
- Tobias (10/5): Relaxed homestay at the end of the road - The homestay is at the very end of the village, but that's not a problem as you can easily hire a motorbike and then get to the village quickly. This means you're a bit removed from the hustle and bustle. When the weather is nice, you can swim in the river and hire a SUP - a wonderful end to the day. The rooms are made out of containers, which can get a bit hot when the sun is shining, but there is air conditioning. The view is really calming and the owner is super nice and helpful. So if you don't need the hustle and bustle of a central backpacker hotel, this is the place for you. Thank you for a great stay!
- Eloise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Immanuella (10/5): Lovely spot - Perfectly located in a quiet and serene area just outside of Phong Nha town. We got the peace and quiet we were yearning for here! You will however need a bike or motorbike to get around. The shipping container rooms are small but beds are ultra comfortable and views are gorgeous. Sound insulation isn’t the best and the place could do with some TLC but we had a lovely stay.
The only thing we would have loved was a space to ‘lounge’ in. Some more comfortable chairs and hammocks outside would go a long way!
Be sure to take the paddle board out at sunset. The views from the river are sensational. Double your time in Phong Nha if you can - a favourite stop on our travels!
- Ethan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alican (10/5): Waking up here and just enjoying the river was great - Tranquil, lovely host, good food.
- Georgia (9/5): Superb -
- Selin (9/5): Superb -
- Lucy (7/5): Good for summer - The place is so nice. So modern, right on the water, so so nice They don’t have any heating! Despite it being about 10 degrees when we were there. We thought the heatpump would’ve worked but it only functions as airconditioning. Awful for winter. Was very uncomfortable
- Anthony (10/5): Think rustic paradise and you won't be disappointed! Book it. - This place is a rustic paradise that provides all you need to have a fabulous and relaxing time. Phuong, the owner and host, is incredibly generous with his time and very accommodating to requests and needs. I can not praise him enough. Their onsite kitchen was also very accommodating to our vegan meal requests. The room is well set up with a full glass wall/door looking out to river and mountain views. Recommend booking one of their scooters to get around as it's a bit far to walk to any of the local attractions. Nothing.
- Jo (10/5): A week in paradise - I loved everything about this place. Really friendly people - Phuong and his mum in law were very caring and ready to help with anything needed. The view from the veranda of the room is out of this world. Loved the fact that the view from your bed through the sliding patio doors was the river and mountain. The food was good - as was the coffee. Phuong makes amazing artworks from natural products which are displayed around the property and you can buy if you like. Nothing to dislike
- Ludovic (9/5): Great place ! - Great place and great owner - This is a real family driven homestay - perfect support for cave visits
Swimming in the river just in front
owner's garden - Motorbike rental is cool, but brakes a little scary on the road to paradise cave, the handle was closed to maximum braking most of the time
- Alix (9/5): Calm stay with river view in oversea containers. - I loved the location and the style: Artfully decorated Homestay in Oversea Containers at the edge of town with a beautiful view on the river. Calm and relaxing. The cleanliness could be improved and there is no mosquito net even though there were mosquitoes and other insects. The containers are not very soundproof.
- Camilla (5/5): Great views away from town. - We loved the views and being in the outskirts of the town, seeing the sunrise against the mountain and the birds and fishermen early morning. The homestay owner had beautiful original art around, and was friendly when recommending activities. Unfortunately our room wasn’t well maintained: mould on the wall, spider webs on some corners, toilet had significant build up, and some easy to clean markings on the walls. The light in the balcony in front of our container room window was not controlled by the switches in the room, so we sadly had to close the curtains in order to sleep, when we had booked the property because we were looking forward to naturally waking up to sunrise light.
We were also disappointed to not see any hammocks to lounge in the garden like in the pictures. There was no nice place to “chill” if not in the room.
- Jan (9/5): Superb -
- Amelia (3/5): Disappointing - It has a beautiful view of the river from the room. It’s in a very quiet and peaceful area away from the town it’s easy enough to get a taxi there and back. For the price you pay it’s a nice room however we came back from a meal and they were having a bbq directly underneath our room which led to our room being smoked out. We couldn’t sleep in there so we asked the staff if we could swap rooms but they were full and we tried to see if we could handle it but we couldn’t so we went to find him again and he’d gone to bed :( we ended up being moved into a room where his mother was staying which meant it wasn’t a clean room as we had to bring our duvet cover and pillows across. This room was also full of bugs. If we hadn’t kept asking the staff for a solution nothing would’ve been done. Even though it was still a bad solution to a problem they had created.
- Fabian (9/5): Superb - Felt nice being here. Phuong was very accommodating and helpful! Nice atmosphere only thing I wished was the weather to be better!
Great breakfast too!
- Meg (5/5): Cheap but not so clean - Lovely view from the room Rooms have no ventilation and are humid. Our clothing was damp in the morning when we woke up because of the air. There was mould on the walls. The bed was very uncomfortable, like sleeping on timber.
- Raphtbm (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely homestay, a bit different than the usuals, some artist spirit. Great view on the river & mountains from the room. Quiet area. Great confy bed. Clean. Hot water. Probably one of the best place you could stay in the whole area if you are not looking for a 5 stars. Very minor, but I would maybe add some hook/knot system for the towel in the bathroom.
- Jacob (8/5): Great stay on the river! Great host! - Great location right on the river! Free bicycles available to help us explore and get into town.
Phuong was so great to us, helping us book our treks, transport out of phong nha and had lovely dinner on the premises! He also makes great rock art!
- Cara (10/5): Great stay - An amazing host with a great property! Very helpful, very good food and breakfast. The host was extremely helpful - took us on a tour of the area and offered to leave us back to the bus stop. There were a few bugs etc in the room but this was expected given location on the river front!
- Norton (10/5): An beautiful and restful stay with such kind hosts who were incredibly accomodating. - Most beautiful view, quiet and serene, surrounded by nature. The hosts were so lovely and accommodating, amazing family. Would recommend to anyone coming to town! n/a
- Balig (9/5): Superb -
- Zeno (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing owner, super responsive and organised us transfers from dong hoi and a day drip which was amazing. The amazing view and river with paddle boards is definitely an added bonus nothing
- Karthikeyan (7/5): Good -
- Kirsten (10/5): River and mountain view in quiet setting - Beautiful setting, friendly family, nice room decoration. Great knowledge about the caves and the area. Scooter rental works very well.
- Bethany (10/5): The perfect place to stay in Phong Nha - Such an amazing place Nothing
- Tuan (9/5): Superb -
- Daisy (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing stay, food was brill , host was so kind and helpful, location absolutely amazing for a relaxing stay.
- Ngọc (8/5): Good place to stay in Phong Nha - Staffs were extremely helpful and friendly. Good views. Quite a few bugs and mosquito. Bug sprays are recommended
- Hường (8/5): Still a worth trying homestay after all, great vibes - Great location, its at the end the road in a very serene village and by the bank of Son river which provides you greats view all day. The Owner and his wife were very friendly, he gave a free ride to the bus station after checking out, the food for dinner are delicious too. The bathroom facilities are limited due to small space and could be cleaner. It would be better if a blanket available since the AC works really well. With some more attention onto the details, it could be a great homestay.( eg: breakfast on the go if you have to leave early in morning, make sure there is no stains left on toilets ..)
- Sienna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chloé (6/5): Homestay by the river - You can take a Grab from the center to the homestay for about 50,000VND and then, use the free bicycles at disposal to wander around. It's quite far from the main streets but you have some food options available by bike.
The view on the river is amazing and you can easily go swimming or borrow paddle boards.
The owner was available and helpful about transportation. We could leave our luggage a little longer after checkout and take shower after cave tour. However, the accommodation has poor acoustic insulation. It's very noisy and it feels like you live with your neighbors. Not great to rest and have some peaceful time. Not much storage either. Mosquito repelling encense could be great in such a location (as well as free earplugs..).
We wanted to do the cave excursion with Oxalis but as it was fully booked, the hotel recommended another one: 1,450,000VND per person. Way too expensive for what it was. Very touristic and crowded, you end up in an amusement park. I don't recommend it. But you might!
- Andrei (8/5): It's a really cool place to relax after a cave trip - The view / the price for beer / the food on the whole French fries were extremely fatty
- Brian (9/5): Superb - Phoung was a really good host, arranged the tour for us and even did an early check in when our bus arrived two hours early. And we ended up in his homestay in the middle of the night!
- Callum (1/5): Avoid - Nothing We had been double booked, but had a lengthy conversation with the owner about the check in and our time of arrival, we arrived and he was nowhere to be seen, eventually when we got hold of him it was our fault he could not be reached? He tried to put us in a room but it was occupied even after we told him we thought someone was in there he insisted we keep shoving our way in. He sent us down the road to stay a night elsewhere and then tried to charge us the full rate the next day. Facilities are just shipping containers hot and small, bathroom was unclean
- Alessandro (8/5): Very good -
- Trang (9/5): Scenic and peaceful place to stay for Phong Nha adventure - Great concept, great views and quiet with is exactly what I needed. Comfy bed m and clean room. Terrific water pressure. I wish there was something done about the bug problem at night.
- Sophia (8/5): Very good -
- Shaz (9/5): Peaceful - Great character homestay. Loved the hammocks out the front of the room. Peaceful location. Helpful and friendly staff. Free bikes to use.
- Anirudh (9/5): Superb - What a view! Comfortable bed and AC. Decent bathroom. The property is away from the town and shouldn't be a problem if you have a bike. The wooden flooring is broken at some places. The hoards of insects which will come in the night if you leave the lights on in the room, the doors need to have better sealing.
- Mille (9/5): Very Nice place. - Staff is Very friendly and helpfull. Very Good homecooked breakfast and dinner. The view is amazing!!! Sheets were a bit dirty.
- M (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isobel (8/5): Very good - Amazing views from the room and a good breakfast. The only bad thing would be the staff pushing activities on you. I arrived at half 10 at night and when showing me to my room he then stood in my room trying to sell me the tours, which I kept saying I will sort tomorrow. Also the reception is not always manned so was waiting around.
