• John (10/5): A comfortable hostel close to everything. - The Komorebi Hostel was great and in a handy location for the train and bus station. All the sites were in an easy walk. Everything was great.
• Andreas (7/5): Very conveniently located to explore Takayama and the surrounding area - I had a room if I had my own bathroom. Everything was simple, but okay. The location is great, right next to the train / bus station and also to the old town it is only a stone’s throw away. The price level in Takayama is the high. I paid significantly more for a hostel here than in Kyoto for a four-star hotel.

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis passt nicht. Die Unterkünfte in Takayama sind überteuert. Ich habe in Kyoto fürs halbe Geld ein, vier Sterne Hotel bekommen.

• Bill (7/5): good place to stay - Good location 10 minutes walk from most places of interest Getting the room codes was confusing and we had to walk between hotels to get the codes. It was the first time we had to use this method on door codes management
• Gracia (7/5): Good basics, needs more thoughtful amenities - The place was okay overall and located near the train station. Floor beds were comfortable. The room felt quite bare - no reading light, hooks or small touches that make it more functional. Adding door protectors or soft-close mechanisms would also help reduce noise from slamming doors. It would also be nice to have heating in the shower rooms in colder months.

• Ane (9/5): Perfecto para visitar la ciudad - El hotel estaba en el centro y a su vez muy cerca de la estación lo que lo hace muy fácil para poder visitar la ciudad. Las camas, a pesar de estar en el suelo son cómodas. Los baños están cerca y limpios. El check in hay que hacerlo en otro hotel, por lo que si guardas las mochilas ahí es un poco incomodo tener que ir a buscarlas y después volver a tu hotel. Es verdad que se encuentran cerca, pero es algo más incómodo.

La bañera tenía un agujero tapado con cinta aislante, además no estaba fijada al suelo, no había donde dejar la toalla, ni un pequeño colgador, los bordes estaban emnegrecidos, decidimos estar dos días sin ducharnos. La gente andaba por el edificio en pijama, sorprendente. El lavabo no tenía agua caliente. El aseo al sentarse tocas con las rodillas en la pared si eres grande. Una experiencia nefasta.

The also kept our luggage before the check-in hour (: We had to do the check-in in another place (very near but we forgot and remembered once arrived).

• ALEXANDER DANIEL (9/5): Comfortable and Convenient Stay - Very comfortable, and the proximity to the station was definitely the best part of my stay. I didn’t have any issues. I stayed two nights and everything was fine.

• Laura (9/5): Great hostel! - Very clean! Very cozy - great temperature control. Showers were the best hostel showers we've encountered. Not a very communal vibe, more quiet which worked for us since we were already travelling in a group. Other guests were friendly though. Beds have reading lights, curtains. Super nice. Kitchen could use a bigger fridge or two smaller. Kitchen could use another table (even a smaller 2 person table would be great). Check in a few blocks away. Really efficient but we didn't read this in advance whoops.

Al final con tapones se podía dormir, por suerte sólo era una noche.

• Kelley (7/5): Acceptable and convenient. - Very quiet, and the location was nice. Check in is convenient so long as you remember to do that first. The staff are very helpful. There was no onsite staff and the building is a bit dated. It doesn't have the usual family home-away-from-home feel I usually associate with hostels.

La ubicación es ideal para salir y pasear por Takayama, hacia las calles del casco antiguo como para ir a la estación JR o de buses. Cuando vuelva a Takayama (porque tengo volver), definitivamente que quedaré aquí!

• Maria (1/5): Avoid this place: I was robbed due to a severe lack of security, room smelled strongly of tobacco - This review outlines a deeply disturbing and unsatisfactory experience where I was the victim of theft due to a significant failure in the property's security. My mobile phone was stolen from the common area. This theft was made possible by a severe lack of basic safety measures. There are simply no cameras in common areas for guest security. Furthermore, the check-in process is conducted at a separate, distant location, leaving the hostel premises unstaffed and completely unsecured at the time of the incident. The theft occurred around 6:00 AM. I realized I had left my phone in the lobby while changing from slippers to my shoes, but upon returning just 15 minutes later, it was gone. The only person present was a middle-aged man with long hair in the kitchen. When I approached him and asked if he had seen the device, his immediate reaction was strangely suspicious: he told me to look in the trash and began opening the bins. After reporting the incident, the staff at the hotel where I checked in were extremely reluctant to help and handled the situation poorly, despite later sending a message that attempts to convey concern. Aside from the security failures, the accommodation itself was unacceptable. The room smelled terribly of tobacco. The furnishings were decrepit, likely dating from the Meiji era, and the sleeping situation consisted of just a mattress placed directly on the floor. Given the total lack of security, non-existent on-site supervision, and the poor condition of the facilities, I seriously doubt this place would ever be approved by Japanese government authorities for sure. The safety and comfort of guests are clearly not a priority here.
