• Débora (10/5): Une pause de douceur et de beauté dans notre voyage au Pérou - Tout d’abord, la situation de l’hôtel face aux hauts sommets andins est incroyable. Mais ce qui m’a particulièrement réchauffé le cœur est la gentillesse de notre hôtesse. Il lui a suffit de deux minutes pour que nous nous sentions comme chez nous. Nous avons été reçu dans la belle salle à manger pour y déguster un repas préparé maison. La nuit a été merveilleuse, enfin du calme après les si bruyantes ville péruviennes. Malheureusement, nous n’avons pu y rester qu’un seul jour. Mais après un solide petit déjeuner et le cœur lourd de quitter cet endroit fabuleux, nous avons repris notre route et je n’oublierai pas de si tôt cet accueil incroyable. Rien
• Oscar (10/5): Lovely stay in San Pedro de Cachora. We will be back! - The spectacular views! The peace and quiet you find at Yovana’s place is incredible. A true scape from the city. Yovana was the sweetest and nice’s host. She made us dinner the first night too. Her place feels like your home away from home. You can walk 3 blocks to San Pedro de Cachora’s main town plaza for a restaurant and minimart. Very quaint little town with gorgeous views too. A very short 15-20 min drive on trail to Capuliyoc, the place where you start your 4-day hike to Choquequirao and you can enjoy the Apurimac river canyon views from the mirador. Nothing. It was a great way to disconnect from our daily routines.
• Peter (9/5): The ideal hotel in Cachora on your way to Choquequirao !! - We stayed in the Casa de Salkantay for 2 nights and we liked basically everything. Very nice and helpful owners, very good breakfast (even at 5 or 5.30am), nice rooms, good bathrooms, and also very good Wi-Fi. A little bit outside Cachora but just a 5-minute walk to the Plaza de Armas. Nothing we didn't like.

• Anna-Lena (10/5): Tolle Unterkunft mit grandiosem Ausblick - Ganz tolle idyllische Unterkunft mit sehr lieben Gastgebern und einem wahnsinnig beeindruckenden Ausblick. Wir haben hier einen Zwischenstopp auf unserer Rundreise durch Peru eingelegt (2 Nächte) und hätten problemlos länger bleiben können. Der Ausblick ist grandios, Frühstück und Abendessen waren lecker. Die Dusche hat warmes Wasser, das sich gut regulieren lässt. Wir konnten unser Auto sicher abstellen. Das Zimmer war geräumig und sauber. Alles super. Ein mini Verbesserungsvorschlag: Ein paar Haken im Zimmer wären toll. Aber das ist nebensächlich. Würden jederzeit wieder kommen!

• Eddie (10/5): Tu lugar definitivo para subir al Choquequirao - Todo. El mejor desayuno del Perú. La atención de Giovanna es suprema. Siempre pendiente de todo y aportando consejos muy útiles. Tiene un conejo y una perrita preciosa. Lo pasé muy bien y súper recomiendo este lugar . Por ahí la potencia de la ducha es lo único que me parece que sería mejor que tenga más fuerza.
• Ryan (10/5): Stay here!!! - We’ve never felt more welcomed at any place we have stayed. Yovana greeted us with hugs and a great dinner. She had helpful tips for our hike from Cachora to Choquequirao and onwards to Machu Picchu. When we couldn’t pass the Rio Blanco due to high water she helped us tremendously on our return, including finding us a taxi back to Casa de Salcantay, more hugs and then her husband Eduardo even drove us to Ollaytaytambo on his way to Cusco so we could make our ticket date at Machu Picchu. My daughter had several hours of conversational Spanish lessons with Eduardo. Great place, amazing views and even better people! Couldn’t recommend more.
• Axel (10/5): Vielen Dank für diesen wunderschönen Aufenthalt - Alles war super! Joana und Eduardo sind die liebenswert ersten Gastgeber die man sich vorstellen kann. Wir hatten einen sicheren Parkplatz für unsere Motorräder und konnten diese sogar Waschen. Die Dusche hat einen Durchlauferhitzer und hatte immer heißes Wasser (viel Wasser weniger heiß, weniger Wasser sehr heiß) Ein wunderbarer Ort für Wanderer oder nur zum Ausruhen. Das Frühstück und das Abendessen waren sehr sehr lecker. Bereits die Anfahrt ist toll....und wie schon geschrieben: fahren bis die Teerstraße zu Ende ist und dann noch 100 Meter. Alles Gut

• Mrs Hannah Gregor (10/5): The most amazing location to stay - This is the most amazing location to stay - a wonderful 30 minute drive from the main road to find incredible views across to the mountains and plenty of places to sit and enjoy it, a beautiful and tranquil spot. The family who run the place could not have been more friendly - and welcoming us with tea on arrival, we also had a lovely evening dinner (at a very reasonable extra cost), it was one of our favourite places so far in Peru! We were also able to park our car inside their yard which was really helpful. Nothing
• Colin (8/5): Beautiful if not easy to find location and a very nice stay. - We had dinner and breakfast here. The meals were very good and the dining room full of atmosphere! The layout of the place is very comfortable, you look out over green farmland backed by snowy mountains from your room The place is quite difficult to find if using Google Maps, we arrived in the dark and pouring rain and google tried to send us down a grassy bank twice! Some signs on the road would be useful (in the end my tip is - ignore any Google advice to leave the paved road and just follow that road. It will get you there.

• Anna (10/5): A home away from home - We visited Casa de Salcantay for the second time to relax after a multiple day hike and it was perfect! Yovana and her family made us feel like home! The room was big and immaculately clean, the breakfast (included) and dinner (booked extra) were prepared with love and our hosts did everything to make us feel comfortable. They speak english, but they also encouraged us to speak spanish and were very patient and we practised a lot! Yovana is an expert in Choquequirao Trek and can organise the trek for you, including camping equipment, horse and arriero and of course all the information you need about camping places and so on. From the hotels garden you have an amazing view of the mountains. The authentic village Cachora gives a good impression of peruvian rural life, very different to that of Cusco or Lima. Yovana is very helpful organising transport to the hotel or writing you how to get there, don't hesitate to write her. It was a joy for us to stay here and I hope we come back! • Aurore (10/5): Parfait, tout ce qu'on cherchait y était! - Tout était parfait! Nous y sommes allés une nuit avant et une nuit après notre trek à Choquequirao. Nous avons pu y déposer nos bagages inutiles pour les récupérer au retour. Ils nous ont organisé les transports en taxi, loué des bâtons de randonnées (indispensables pour le trek) et de camping de qualité, réservé un cheval et un muletier. C'est peut-être un peu plus cher qu'ailleurs mais c'est vraiment justifié par les services et la qualité de l'accueil. Les chambres sont basiques mais propres et la literie confortable, on a super bien dormi. Les espaces extérieurs sont de toute beauté avec une vue incroyable sur les montagnes, un beau jardin plein de colibris et des espaces de relaxation avec vue, des hamacs. C'était un vrai plaisir de se retrouver là après un trek si difficile. Ils nous ont lavés nos vêtements et préparé un excellent repas (la truite était incroyable - les petits-déjeuners délicieux), un bon pisco. Comme c'était notre anniversaire, ils nous ont allumé un feu super romantique en soirée, ils étaient vraiment aux petits soin et plein d'attentions. C'est un lieu à recommander pour les couples en recherche d'endroit enchanteur! Et c'était important pour nous aussi cette gentillesse et douceur du personnel car on été vraiment très irritables après un trek qui a été pour nous très difficile... Merci Casa Salcantay!!

Katherine and Jean could not have been more welcoming, from wood fired pizza and delicious Malbec. Comfortable beds, hot showers, secure moto parking, hammocks with a breathtaking vista. My only regret is that I could not stay longer. There is nothing about this place not to love

• Craig (10/5): Exceptional - We booked our stay as one of our first stops on a two week motorcycle trip, and I can't speak highly enough of Casa de Salcantay. Every now and then you book a random hotel when you're travelling and it turns out to be an absolute gem. The owners are in the exact right business. They were all smiles when we arrived and had four beers waiting for us, and prepared us one of the best lomo saltados we had the entire trip. Rooms were spacious and clean, and of course I cant say enough about the view. Lush mountains and 18000ft snow capped peaked in the background and a beautiful garden all around you at the property. We enjoyed it so much we booked it for a second night when looped back around to Cusco. When I return to Peru to visit Choquequirao and Machu Pichu, I will definitely be staying here again.
• Jane (10/5): Exceptional - Joanna and her husband were the absolute loveliest and most helpful hosts. We stayed before the Choquequirao hike and Joanna gave us a thorough briefing and answered all the questions we had. We had spent ages doing research online but Joanna was all the preparation we needed. The views of the mountains are amazing. We had a delicious dinner and breakfast there. We relaxed in the hammocks after the hike. I can't recommend it enough! The shower isn't the hottest one ever but it does the job!
• Selim (10/5): A magical place to stay - The place is simply wonderful and magical. One of the most peaceful places i've ever stayed in my life. The view, the garden, the fresh breakfast, and of course the lovely and kind Yovana made it very special for me. The parking space is a huge bonus and the fresh breakfast was delicious. The hotel is also located very close to the town center where you have restaurants and supermarkets. The views while coming down and going up to the hotel are breathtaking! I'd love to return here as soon as possible.M
• Milou (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful place near Choquequirao - Casa de Salcantay is the perfect place to prepare for a trek to Choquequirao! The host, Yovana, is a very kind woman who helped me prepare for the trek and provided me with very useful information. The entire atmosphere was welcoming, the room was big and comfortable, and the views were amazing. Can fully recommend! Do keep in mind that travelling from Cachora to Cusco is not very straightforward.
• Juliane (10/5): Wonderful place, view and hiking tour - We went to Yovana for two nights in hope for a little break from the stressful trip we had. But after we got to know Yovana and the hotel we instantly fell in love with everything and stayed for 2 more nights! Her loving and helpful attitude made us feel so welcome! Every morning she made a delicious breakfast and all through the day she served us tea and coffee. She helped us organising a trip to Quochequirao (she can explain everything you need to know about the tour) and booked all the hostels on the way for us! We are so thankful to have met her and the beautiful Casa de Salcantay. We definitely recommend 100%, you will miss a great opportunity to have some wonderful days if you don't go here. There are collectivos from Abancay and Cusco to get there and back. In Cachora you can't find any ATMs, so bring enough money! We hope we see you again Yovana, muchos gracias por todo!
• Olga (10/5): Tranquility with spectacular views - Casa de Salcantay is one of those places where you arrive and instantly feel relaxed and at home. The views are breathtaking from every place, the room was clean and very comfortable. Reliable internet from every place. Breakfast was the best I've had on my trip - and with a spectacular view! Whether you are looking for a place as a base for your trek through the magnificent Vilcabamba Valley, or you just want to relax - this is the place. The owners are super hospitable and can provide all kind of advice for trekking. You can watch sunset and sunrise just chilling in front of your room. For those traveling on a motorbike - secure parking and plenty of scenic routes around. One of the best places I stayed at in South America.
