Guest Reviews
- cheryl (5/5): - Honest review time! Although reading previous reviews the issues still remain so I doubt the owner reads or acts on reviews. The bottle of fizz and biscuits on arrival was a lovely touch. The beds and bedrooms were comfortable. Nice bathrooms.
The hot tub was a nice addition to this property. The listing says dishwasher, there isnt one. Nor is there a proper place to handwash dishes. You need a teatowel as none are provided.
The back doors leading to hot tub are very fiddly to lock. If you dont fiddle with them they can be opened by anyone.
The gates in garden are still broken, if you have dogs or small children they can get out onto the busy A6.
The window in bedroom 2 still cracked and cant be opened.
Wifi- forget it, it doesnt work. There is only a booster in the property. No idea where main router was. I messaged but received no response to any messages at all.
This property is in the original old building and on arrival looks derelict. There is a mountain of post behind the door. This main door remains open and unlocked which again I feel is a security risk.
This property could be amazing but I feel as the owner doesnt reply to messages or react to reviews it is just going to get into disrepair which is a shame. Work needed on this property to bring it back into the " luxury" bracket.
- Kerys (3/5): Poor safety and no WiFi! - It was a good size, Booked with the promise of WiFi as I had work to do, the WiFi siding work the whole stay despite me making contact which was ignored.
Front door doesn’t close and the doors to the property cannot be locked so we had to put things in front of them so our dogs couldn’t get out.
When we checked in there were so many final demand letters on the floor.
Tried to make contact regarding the WiFi and as I said was completely ignored. Sent an email which was also ignored. Really disappointing as I couldn’t work and didn’t feel safe. Could be great but definitely not luxury like described.
- Karl (5/5): Dissapointing. Avoid - Hot tub wasn’t bad Very near to main road, not particularly clean, seems like the owners made an effort a few years ago and now ‘sweating the asset’.
Broken fences (I propped up with some stones).
Shame really, it doesn’t require that much effort to sort- a quick jet wash outside to clear the weeds, and a couple of bolts to secure the fence and it would be better. Also had to buy ant powder as they kept appearing in kitchen, and no way to access WiFi (WiFi access given not valid)- mobile access is also difficult. No response from owners when messaged.
- Rebecca (10/5): Consistently above and beyond. - 4 stays in the last 6 months. Every time, the stay at the Hamilton has been faultless.
Extremely comfortable beds. Spacious living areas decorated modern and stylish but keeping with its historical past.
- Katy (4/5): Dangerous for dogs and children . Lack of basic maintenance. - The beds were comfortable
The place was clean
The bath was lovely. Unsafe for Dogs due to the broken fencing adjacent to a very busy main road.
The back door was broken and could not be locked. We did not feel safe and we also fretted the dogs would get out and be run over.
It was freezing cold on arrival and the instructions provided didn't tell us the boiler needed to be set to heat. The Instructions given stated that the Nest thermostat just needed to be increased. It took us an hour to sort after a 6 hour car journey.
A 14 degree hot tub is unusable,. It took 24 hours to heat up.
The WiFi given was also unusable. We eventually managed to find another WiFi we could tap into.
The TV was very small for the size of the room and had spasmodic interruptions due to the WIFI.
A dangerous broken window in the second bedroom.
Wires hanging out and plumbing holes not filled in.
A totally unstable dining table that tipped over when leant on.
Ripped chairs and stained upholstery on dining chairs.
No written instructions or guidance in the property.
Contrast to the message received no cleaning materials.
The message sent on how to access the property was sent after we arrived so getting in was very stressful in the dark when there is no sign for the Duke Apartment.
There were no little extras that you would expect from a "luxury" apartment like welcome packs etc...or milk and a loaf in the fridge. Nothing.
Overall the word "luxury" is an oxymoron and we felt that it was style over substance and that they need to get the basics right like replacing lightbulbs and maintaining the structure of the building along with providing useable dining furniture.
However the biggest issue is that this property is dangerous for dogs and small children.
- Laura (7/5): Wouldn't go back as we felt unsafe. - The place is beautiful. When we arrived the aback door was opened and for our entire stay we couldn't lock it. We contacted the property but no one came out to us.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hayley (10/5): Amazing stay - The decor was absoloutley stunning 😍 the apartment was very clean and equipt with everything we needed for our stay The prosecco and biscuits were a lovely touch. Had an amazing time Will definitely be coming back 😁
- Christian (8/5): we enjoyed it but these small things would have improved things significantly. - nicely finished, comfortable beds, lots of space. there was no dishwasher, and no tea towels to dry things. the draining area for washing and so was the drainer so washing up was inadequate. the fridge was way too small for 4 people staying. one bedroom had a smashed window. the outside area was very poor, with weeds growing everywhere in the patio and no outside light. there were no wardrobes. outside area and road was very busy so it was quite noisy.
- Suzanne (10/5): Fantastic stay in Cabus! - Absolutely fantastic property! The host was brilliant, great communication and nothing was too much trouble to sort! Beds are really comfy, the place is lovely and clean and has great amenities. Hot tub absolute win. We will definitely be back! Everything was great!
