- Laura (8/5): - Location was great and ease of check in

- James (4/5): Disappointing & overpriced but functional. - On balance, the water ran hot, the ceiling did not leak, the kettle did boil (although not with any particular urgency), the fridge kept things cool, there was an eclectic assortment of old consumables in the cupboards, there is Wi-Fi, there was soap and toilet roll, the bedding and towels smelled freshly laundered, the sink drained with spectacular enthusiasm, the doors did lock, there is a car park, the location is very good and it is, generally, a peaceful location given how close it is to the main attraction, the park, beach and ocean. It is with a somewhat state of confusion that I regard previous glowing reviews for this property. My experience more reflects days of student living, making the best of resources available and languishing for better days ahead.
Where to start? Strikingly, the surface upon you walk is uneven and, seemingly, affixed to the floor in parts by tacks. Daring a close inspection would find dirt, half eaten crisps, balls of fluff and hair in most corners. Even a glance at the mat valiantly defending the French doors will make your skin crawl. I suggest not venturing an inspection of the kitchen draws.
The air, particularly the air that resides in cupboards, has a striking resemblance to that you may have inhaled in any old shed, scout hut, cadet building or caravan. Furthermore, it is cold and leaves a feeling of most soft furnishings, including the clothes upon your very self after a time, damp and uncomfortable.
The single page welcome pack's longest paragraph is an instruction to go and buy electricity from a shop if the lights go out. The scant instructions take some interpretation if your unlucky enough to find it a necessity. I don't recall any such warning when booking the accomodation but thankfully it has not been an issue (although I did go through the motions should an alarming situation such as a part-boiled kettle arise).
The kitchen cupboards, beyond the peeling laminate door surfaces, reveal a wild assortment of old or cheap crockery and plasticware. The selection of pans available leave little to be desired and required a certain degree of pre-washing in effort to avoid earlier culinary endeavours. Likewise, the piecemeal array of drinking vessels.
The living area lights are so poor that evening reading is tiresome. The bulbs desperately need upgrading from old fashioned energy savers to LED, an inexpensive and immediate upgrade.
