- Alicia (10/5): 10/10 stay! - This lovely guesthouse, just a 10 minute train ride to Onomichi, is comfortable and clean — the perfect stay before bicycling the Shimanami Kaido. The owner is also very kind and helpful. I would 100% recommend this guesthouse. Nothing
- Cindy (7/5): - The surroundings were beautiful. Had a nice walk around. There were lots of Studio Ghibli décor and it was nice. Staff were nice.

- Sonia (10/5): Perfect! Highly recommended - Marvelous! I so enjoyed chatting with the owner who is intelligent, interesting and open minded. I saw how kind he is with all guests. I thank him for tolerating my lack of Japanese! This was my second visit to the hotel and I returned because I had such a great experience the first time around. So comfortable, the building is beautifully decorated in a classy style. Loved it. Many thanks for all of your help in getting to the train station. Do visit! You’ll love it.
- Wing (10/5): Exceptional - Kusunoki San is extremely nice and kind! The guest house is clean and beautiful. Highly recommend this place! Just the location is a bit far from the station.
- Sonia (10/5): So comfortable and cosy; feels like home. - The building has been beautifully renovated, everything is new and plush. I’ve never stayed in such a first class hostel. The sliding doors for privacy by each bed are just great! The owner is lovely and strives to give an excellent service. He let me check in early because I arrived by bicycle (twice in fact). I returned because I liked it so much and felt at home. The place is probably the cleanest hotel in Japan, and that’s saying something. Also, the dining room chairs are so comfortable. Highly recommend.
- Donna (10/5): Will return. - Quiet space, clean, tidy. Easy parking. N/A
- Alena (10/5): Amazing staying, everything what needed, clean , cozy and calm - Booking Very clean, calm and comfortable
- Isabella (10/5): The best hostel/guesthouse I ever stayed at - Incredibly clean and lots of privacy. The owner goes above and beyond to make sure guests are comfortable. Highly recommend staying here! It’s a bit of a walk from the train station but it’s totally worth it
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing renovation and love of details.
- Ami (10/5): Exceptional -
- Léa (10/5): Exceptional - I really enjoyed staying at this guesthouse it is super clean. The share space and the bed are really cosy (especilly the chairs for the share space ! ).
N.B. : it would be great to add a small dustbin for the shower (it would be easier to throw away our hairs etc...) It might be a little bit far from the train station (but that's fine and there are taxi if needed everytime).
- Andrea (9/5): Great place, nice people - Very nice staff, was waiting for me as arrived late. All clear, comfortable, very clean. And great support by the owner in arranging some things for my trip. Great value! Not relevant for me but it’s good to know that you can’t leave your luggage after check out
- Antonia (10/5): Exceptional - Best guesthouse I have ever had the pleasure to stay at. Very clean, nice facilities in a recently renovated house with exposed beams and all wooden flooring. Comfortable bed, privacy ensured. Incredibly nice owner. I would stay there again.
- Nur (10/5): Exceptional - The place is clean and comfortable. The owner is nice and managed the property well. The place is located in calming neighborhood. -
- Žanna (9/5): Good place to stay for reasonable price - Nice place - cozy, warm, with personal touch, owner really cares about the place and guests, had enough privacy All was fine except one of roommates was drunk one night and filled the common room with bad smell. Roommates were noisy sometimes, but that I solved with earplugs, so no problem.
- Madame_camel (9/5): I will come back - Spacious pod with comfortable bed, privacy curtain, four electric outlets, two shelves, and a hook for a hanger, all just for you. Shared facilities include free drip-bag coffee, hot water (black and green tea bags would be an excellent addition), a washing machine for only 100 yen detergent, free lockers (a small laundry hanger inside!), two shower rooms with bottled shampoo, rinse and body soap, an extremely clean toilet on each floor, and a lovely big wooden table at the reception area to talk with other guests. Towels are rentable for the generous fee of 100 yen. They also offer rental bikes for a small fee of 200 yen per day. Check-in time can be flexible if you ask in advance. If a simple breakfast like juice, milk, cereal, and toast is included, I would happily pay 5,000 yen per night. There is no cafe or store nearby, but there is a clean little river (creek) and promenade right in front of the guesthouse, so it could be an excellent area to take time and relax in the morning if the guesthouse provides breakfast. It takes 15-20 minutes to walk from JR Matsunaga Station and the walking route may be a bit tricky for the first-timers. The wallpapers were artificial, which is disappointing for the "kominka" concept. I would suggest replacing them with natural plaster or something in the future.

- Alice (10/5): One of my favorite guesthouses! - If you are wondering if you should stay here or not, the answer is yes. It is a bit of a walk from the train station, but it is one of the best places I've stayed at while traveling in Japan and right by the river! The host is extremely amiable and easy to talk to. The guesthouse exudes charm with wooden flooring, stained glass and is well kept and clean. I love the wooden turning chairs, rental bike option and the many amenities provided. It is also one of the most comfortable beds and softest blankets I've had and you will have to work to leave the bed because it's so soft and comfy.
- Vivian (10/5): Exceptional - Guesthouse Kusunoki was wonderful. The guesthouse was quaint, artistic, and impeccably clean. The owner, Katsumori san, is kind and very detail-oriented, and you can tell that he puts his heart and soul into running this guesthouse. I loved my stay here, it was the highlight of my trip. Nothing, everything was wonderful!
- B (10/5): A clean and cosy spacious home manned by a helpful host - Homey, clean and cosy. The host was friendly and customer-oriented. Free coffee, green tea (on disposable cups, not shared mugs!), and chocolate sweets up for grabs. This would be my go-to place when I visit Fukuyama again. Within a walking distance from Matsunaga Station (15-20 minutes) and the central pharmacy with a wide range of food and beverages and other products at affordable prices! Nothing
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional - Had a lovely time, the owner was really friendly. Everything modern and a lovely comfortable bed with good privacy! Would recommend =)
- Josephine (10/5): Exceptional - lt was designed like individual space! better than most hostels
