Guest Reviews
- Habib (1/5): Bad - That was construction site right under our room ask above the room to much noise all day long
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Dunbar (10/5): Incredible location and room 1 minute walk down the stairs and you’re on the beach and Bingin - It would be great to have some high chairs to it and watch the surf
- Natalie (10/5): A perfect stay with a beautiful location, comfy beds, and great communication. - Absolutely stunning location! The beds were incredibly comfortable, making for an amazing stay. Communication with the host was excellent throughout. Highly recommended—would definitely stay again! Nothing
- Farishta (8/5): Very good -
- Osaid (7/5): Good -
- Ross (2/5): Very poor -
- Anonymous (10/5): Fabulous property - Location was fabulous.. breathtaking views of beach . Beautiful and spacious villa .
- Fadwa (10/5): Serene , dreamy , out of this world sunset!! Stay and enjoy the sunset from 4-6 pm❤️❤️ - Everything is fabulous !!!!!! The place is out of this world !!! Feels like a dream! ❤️ I was getting sad every time I have to go out since the stay itself is an activity!! The sunset itself is the best activity !❤️❤️
And the staff are 10\10. Best staff ever.
- Eguzkine (6/5): Okay but very noisy - Clean Work outside very noisy and I’ve should be informed before we book not after
- John (4/5): Disappointed with lack of facilities given the price mark - As promised it had a Sea View, However Beware, read below Incredibly steep unsafe and very high steps lead down to this room. 182 steps to be exact ranging in height from 15 cms to 38 cms , yes almost a foot and a half.
There were locals building another room in front of ours , they started at 7 am and worked until 7pm seven days a week. Actually there were 2 other building sites going on on the narrow path leading to the dangerous steps
This is NOT a Hotel, no facilities, no reception, no pool, no bar or food.
- Sapna (7/5): I’d never visit again, unless they make the access more convenient - Beautiful, aesthetically pleasing room, beautiful view. The room is exactly like it shows on the site. Most inconvenient location, definitely a big no no for anyone, regardless of your fitness. The stairs to the room are steep, uneven, slippery. Access to beach is inconvenient and rocky.
- Md (4/5): Wont recommend - The location is great. The way to reach it is extremely difficult. You have to walk uneven stairs and its not normal stairs at your home. These stairs are deep and its not just few stairs. At least 100 stairs. Also the road to reach the villa is dangerous and difficult to go by car.
- Kateryna (5/5): Passable -
- Mia (9/5): Beautiful, relaxing and comfortable stay! - We stayed in the 3-bedroom family villa and had a very relaxing time. The balcony views were amazing, the living area was lovely and comfortable, the couch was super comfortable and the tv connected to Netflix! The aircon worked fabulously, the fridge was always stocked with bingtangs and there was a functioning coffee machine with beans and milk provided! Don't let the stairs put you off renting this property. Any person with average fitness could handle them easily!
The water pressure in the showers could be a little stronger - but that would be my only feedback!
- Per (6/5): Pleasant - Very close to the beach it’s basically on the beach. So hard to get to especially at night.
Really not the view that’s shown here, the room I stayed in was mouldy and also a big roof was covering the view that’s shown on the pictures
- Shay (10/5): Stunning 🤩 - Stunning view with luxe interior . Gorgeous bedding , furniture and bathroom features.
- Kirsty (10/5): Beautiful beautiful stay at Mahi Mahi - Mahi Mahi was absolutely beautiful! The location is right on Bingin Beach and the view is amazing. Staff were very helpful and accomodating. The only thing I will mention is that access is not easy! If you’re wanting to spend most of your time at Bingin Beach there is nowhere better to stay! If you’re wanting to come and go or to explore around Uluwatu more just be aware that it’s about a ten minute steep and hot walk up hill to get to transport. They do have an amazing porter service that carry your suitcase for you for an extra charge but just getting up the hill to transport everyday to explore was quite the workout!
- Gossens (1/5): Bad -
- Charlotte (9/5): Magical - Spectacular view. Close to the beach. Beautiful room. The beach has excellent barbercue and beer in the eavenings The stairs are quite exhausting BUT if you like free training in a beautiful stairmaster it is perfect. I think that I got in bettet shape just by going up and down for three days
- Klaudia (10/5): Magic - A Truly Magical Stay
From the moment I stepped into the beautifully designed apartment, I was captivated by the breathtaking ocean view. The sound of the waves made for the most restful sleep I’ve ever had—an experience I highly recommend. Every detail was perfect, from the fresh, inviting scent of the towels to the luxurious designer bathrobes and high-quality toiletries. My host, Rian, was incredibly helpful and accommodating, making the stay even more enjoyable. An unforgettable experience!
- Nicolas (2/5): Very poor - Very disappointing stay at Mahi Mahi Beach Shack. We arrived to find construction happening just 40 cm from our room, with loud noise from 3 PM upon our check-in until 7:30 PM, and then it started again at 7 AM the next morning. We were never informed about this at booking or check-in, and it completely ruined the peaceful experience we were expecting.
The lack of communication from the hotel is unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend this place due to the ongoing construction and poor management.
- Tom (9/5): Wonderful stay, to me personally the best appartment I’ve stayed at on Bali by a mile, thinking of sleeping close to the - Amazing view, new and clean room, super friendly and helpful staf, definitely recommended. Could be annoying carrying a 20kg suitcase down the stairs of you aren’t fit or strong. Staf for a fee can however arrange this for yo.
- Penelope (10/5): Exceptional - It was terrific - well described. It is down 100+ stairs from the top of cliff. Much easier going down to the beach than up the top! Definately get the porters to carry your bags - they are amazing.
pod coffee machine - A1 A broader selection of kitchen crockery, cutlery and glassware would have been better
- Yuma (10/5): Amazing views worth the steps - Reviews

Rian the manager is next level… first world service roar would give a 5 star place a real run for their money. In room dining he offered had better food than alot of the places we ate at and the chocolate smoothies were the best I’ve tasted. The stairs going up
- Olesia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isabella (7/5): Paying for the view - The view is incredible
The room layout is really nice with a view of the sea from the bed and the comfy seating area
Staff that met us were kind and helpful The finish on these rooms were not great, some of the construction marks left on walls and doors. The floor tiles in the bathroom were very uneven. The door handles loose. The tap handle on our sink was broken and the water temperature was temperamental - either scalding hot or freezing.
The location for views is incredible but it is set back from any shops or restaurants which means that you need to be well prepared with amenities like bottles of water etc.
Although there is a coffee machine and kettle everything is an extra price which I thought was a shame considering the price of the room I would have expected coffee pods to be free as it is in other places.
Very little storage for clothing - we only stayed 1 night so it was not a big deal for us.
- Syafruddin (9/5): Superb -
- Mohamed (1/5): Bad - Nothing , it was horrible Everything, location, lack of clarification, no reception, no place for suitcases, it was a horrible experience
- Elena (10/5): Thank you everybody for my beautiful vocation. - Location is nice and views spectacular.
- Iva (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ted (1/5): Bad - This stay fell far below expectations. Frequent electricity and water outages made it extremely inconvenient. During the power outages, the air conditioning stopped working, resulting in poor air quality and a stifling atmosphere, which greatly added to the discomfort. The house also had a noticeable insect problem, and the bathroom emitted a strange, unpleasant odor, making it difficult to use.
The shower was another issue—water pressure was weak, and the temperature was highly unstable, making it an unpleasant experience. Additionally, the dishwasher was broken, and although the host sent someone to clean the dishes, we were appalled to see the cleaner use the same cloth for wiping tables, windows, cabinets, and dishes, which was completely unsanitary. We had no choice but to rewash everything ourselves.
The location was another major drawback. Even something as basic as picking up a food delivery was difficult. While some locals were helpful, the host charged unreasonably high fees for assistance, which felt exploitative. In contrast, younger staff at nearby shops were more accommodating and reasonable.
Overall, this experience was unacceptable due to the lack of cleanliness, functionality, and convenience. A refund is entirely warranted given the substandard conditions and the many inconveniences faced during the stay.
- Iva (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iva (10/5): Loved it! - The view is amazing. The rooms are new and nicely decorated. The staff is very nice and was always there to assist us . We kept on extending and only moved because the rooms were booked and we did not plan accordingly. My new favorite place to stay in Bingin. Every other review talked about the stairs- if you want to be right on the beach there are stairs but you might only need to stop once when you’re going up, coming down is very easy and it’s not dangerous at all.
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Coen (8/5): Great stay at Mahi Mahi. Access right onto Bingin beach which has a lot of eateries bars. Access is not ideal with the s - Great outlook over Bingin beach. Access to and from the property is down a serious set of stairs.
This has been commented on by previous reviews but just highlighting it.
- Katherine (3/5): Disappointing and would not recommend! Awful location and poor value for money - Comfy bed and nice room aesthetic The location was awful - incredibly steep steps to access the property, that were also unlit at night and incredibly slippery when wet. No delivery is available to the property because of the location and not convenient to come in and out as no parking nearby.
The room was quite basic and small. The bathtub on the balcony was tiny and awkward.
The bathroom had an odd odour and lots of ants.
The room was very noisy - very thin walls, mostly single-panel glass, and the bathroom is open air which means you could hear the neighbours, the beach and everything going on in the area at all times making it very difficult to sleep.
- Conor (9/5): Beautiful stay in Bingin Beach - The room is fantastic. The amenities are great too. The view was on another level. All of the staff were brilliant and so friendly. The contact with the host through whatsapp is a great feature. He is very attentive. The reason the view is so amazing is the fact that you have to go down 125 steps which are relatively steep. Doing this multiple times a day is hard. It is literally the only downside but you gain an amazing view because of it.
- Declan (9/5): Superb -
- Kanda (10/5): It was unique and wonderful to stay here; all the staff were amiable and helpful - The comfort mattress with sea view The handle of the faucet was broken, and it was difficult to turn the water on and off
- Melissa (7/5): Comfortable and pleasant - The room was stunning with a modern and bougie ambiance. There were some appealing touches like the outdoor bath and bathroom that are both enclosed and covered but separate to the bedroom. The sound of the ocean was so soothing and could be heard in each area. The bed was firm and comfortable and the rooms decor was very appealing, clean and well maintained. This included beautiful linen, toiletries, and welcome snacks. There was also a water filter machine and a separate shower in the entry way to wash off from after the beach. The beach/ocean could be seen through the gaps in the brickwork wall with just a few steps to take to reach the sand on the beach. The staff were extremely helpful taking our luggage up and down the stairs upon arrival and departure for a small fee, and were also attentive to anything that may be needed. We enjoyed our night there and recommend it to others that like to be close to the beach. There wasn’t a TV in the room as hoped, and while it was ideally almost on the beach it was a long way down from the top of the steep stairs. If you’re fit and willing to climb the stairs to head to local cafes and restaurants that aren’t too far away once you’ve made it to the top, then you’ll probably love it here, for us however it wasn’t suitable. We found both the stairs and the marble bed base potentially dangerous and unsuitable. There aren’t a few stairs, there are many, and they’re particularly steep, so this needs to be taken into consideration when you make a booking. The bed base while stunning is also something to consider as the marble isn’t forgiving and left us both with bruises as well as a deep cut on my shin bone. There also isn’t any room service apart from the daily cleaning, so you will need to walk down onto the beach area or climb the stairs to find a cafe or restaurant.
- María (10/5): Exceptional - Super nice place and beautiful details in the room, with sea view. It had all we need, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, sunblock and even mosquito repellent. A few steps only from the beautiful Bingin beach I didn’t realised it was a bit far to take a grab but still very very close from the beach
- Amy (5/5): Nice room but not worth the arduous climb or money. - Big comfy bed Check carefully if you’ve booked the only sea-view room—they won’t refund if you haven’t, and the photos are misleading. Without it, you’ll face a brick wall with small holes, offering minimal views. The 123 steep steps to the property are really exhausting, especially in the heat and after dark, and the room is quite isolated, unlit alleyways pose a safety concern for solo female travellers. I am a young fit person and I got so fed up of having to do that climb to get to and from the property.
They add extra charges: 200 rupiah for a porter to carry your luggage (much pricier than local services, e.g. you can get a full bag of washing cleaned and ironed for 70 rupiah at local laundry service) and they add extra fees for late check-in/out porter fees. Personally, I think these fees should be included in the price of the room, which is already overpriced!
Also, the main door is left unlocked by them, and they rung me twice asking me to bring the key back so they could get in to clean. I told them it was unacceptable to expect guests to come back to the property because they don't have a spare key, they said they were going to get another key cut.
Other issues: there’s a coffee machine but no milk, thin walls mean noise travels from the other room, and if the hallway light (on a timer) is left on, it shines into the room—making it hard to sleep if you’re light-sensitive. I asked them to turn it off, it never happened.
- Laura (9/5): Gorgeous modern suite with amazing ocean views. We would 100% stay here again. - The views are undeniably amazing. It’s a short walk down to the beach and Kelly’s Warung.
Lots of great places for coffee / eat / drink nearby. We walked to most places but it was equally as easy to arrange a gojek.
The suite was modern and clean, staff were helpful and attentive. We couldn’t fault it! Nothing! There are a fair few stairs up and down to the property as to be expected of the location. You can arrange to have luggage brought down and back up by the property manager.
- Paige (10/5): Highly recommend - will be back - Incredible views - you don’t get better in Uluwatu. We watched dolphins swimming each morning.
Awesome location - right on bingin beach with so many great restaurants.
Fantastic service - organized us bikes, late check in and brilliant turn down service. Would have been great to have some complimentary items in the minibar like milk / tea / coffee for the price that was paid.
- Jaclyn (9/5): Unforgettable holiday with the breathtaking views - 180 degree views of pure ocean bliss, reef surf breaks and cliff views - absolutely beautiful. It’s a bit hard to get too, stairs are varied in heights - be prepared to hike a bit but once you know the shortcuts (still have to take stairs) you get your bearings.
- Amanda (8/5): Very good -
- Bayda (7/5): Good place if u plan to stay in and no go out often - The villa is very nice, clean and spacious. The view is amazing specially the sunset. It’s also pleasant to see the surfers surfing. Highly recommend the order the private chef BBQ the food was amazing. The way leading to the villa is not clean and the stairs is really bad. We actually didn’t go out one night cuz we didn’t want to take the stairs. One of our group got sick it was so hard for her to get in and out.
- Yasemin (6/5): Nice view but not worth to stay. - The view of the room was spectacular and it was a minute away from Bingin Beach. The room was too small and there was a weird smell in the bathroom. The stairs are not convenient. Towels were not clean, there were marks on it. There are many restaurants around and the music can be disturbing at night.
- Anastasia (10/5): Exceptional - Nice property with a very good professional management. There were couple of technical issues at check in but Rian (who spoke very good English) and his team fixed everything asap so no complains. New, clean and stylish villa. All spaces are air conditioned including the kitchen area which is especially important during hot months. Great views as on pictures. No need to mention the stairs (like in all reviews), they are manageable considering the fact that whole Bingin area needs some climbing - the price you pay for an authentic place to stay and a good beach for swimming. The place has a BBQ in case you want to cook some fresh fish from Jimbaran market. Theres breakfasts upon request and a nice little restaurant Laggas up on the road with great quality Indonesian food. Good property for Bingin area
- Helen (9/5): Bright and quiet apartment with an ocean view, just steps away from the best Bingin Beach warungs. - Beautifully designed unit, exceptionally clean, with a spectacular ocean view. The staff were so helpful with quick and easy communication before and during our stay. It's a hike up and down the steps, but well worth it to be on the ocean front!
- Jolene (10/5): The perfect beachside stay where you wake up and fall asleep to the sound of the waves. - An absolute delight to stay in this beautifully designed suite w the most breathtaking view!
Room design: kudos to the designer, I’ve stepped into my own personal dream room. Every single details are well thought out including the materials, textures, and colors selection.
It thrills me that they pay attention to details eg replacement of hook in bathroom stays in line with the original gold brass hardware that is consistently used across the bathroom.
I am personally going to hunt for the painting used for my suite.
Comfort:
The stay is absolutely comfortable with nice amenities. In addition I love how the bathroom is furnished with fresh flowers that kept it smelling absolutely delightful. The mosquito spray provided was my absolute fav!
The stay was made perfect by rian who is the perfect host/butler that made sure your requests are promptly followed through with follow ups made each time. He is great!
I love that when you get lazy a good range of food can be served right to you for you to enjoy w the view. I also did a foot massage that rian arranged for me and it’s just amazing to be watching the most beautiful sunset while at it.
Note: the walk down is pretty tedious. However a necessary evil for the view.
Also while taking the short cut to the beach and to Kelly Warung, it is best to do so only while it is low tide. Otherwise you will kinda be trapped midway.
Personally I think it’s like a little beach club with the best view and w all the service provided and if you need the sea it’s just some steps down. Minor flaw: The tap is too close to the sink
I’ve ended up using the shower hose to wash my hands or face.
For non smokers, it’s really annoying that the smoke from the other suites comes into the room via the balcony easily, but I wish that there’s nothing that can be done about it.
- Kylie (10/5): Exceptional - most amazing view! beautiful styling, clean lots of stairs to get down to it but well worth it
- Michelle (10/5): Magnificent views with beach access - Beautiful see view. Room spacious, very clean, nicely decorated and bed very comfortable. Good WiFi. We could order food to the room. Rian, the host, was contactable by Whatsapp and always very responsive and helpful. He arranged for porters to help carry our luggage for IDR 100,000 return trip, per piece of large luggage. From the cliff top down to the room is about 110 steps. The beach access is good, only about 40 steps down to beach, from where you can access the restaurants like Warung Kelly during low tide (high tide the water too high, so no beach, but you can go up and then come down a different path to get access to the other places on Bingin beach). You need to be reasonably fit to negotiate the steps, some steps are very tall.
- Sarah (10/5): - Beautiful room looking over the sea. Everything was clean, functional and well decorated. Location is convenient and close to restaurants, shops and beaches. There are steep stairs to access the room so I wouldn't recommend this for older people but anyone who can climb stairs for 5-10 min will be fine. They will help you with your luggages, but best to keep them light!
- Conor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iman (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms were very clean, location was amazing we wished we had a longer stay here it was amazing! The staff were so helpful, warm and friendly we were so amazed by their hospitality! The bike we rented from them had no petrol and we had to quickly refill it
