Guest Reviews
- Pamela Joyce Bontuyan (10/5): recommended for friends and family - location was great. the house was very cosy with lots of areas to hangout. the rooms were also the right size. despite warmer conditions, heating was still on but compensated as fan was available none
- Adelle (9/5): -
- Karen (10/5): - Fab location. Car parking outside of house.
Great place with plenty of space and amenities. Close to shops.
Lovely part of the country, lots of places to explore and minutes away from RAF Lakenheath viewing area and RSPB Lakenheath Fen. Nothing, all good.
- Lucky Chances (10/5): A lovely home from home - A really lovely house with plenty of space. Close to a shop and other things you could need. Close to the main road but you can hardly hear the traffic. Nothing! Couldn't fault the place.
- Lisa (8/5): Great base and value for money. We only stayed for one night when attending a family event nearby and would definitely u - Spacious accommodation
- Fernando (10/5): Totalmente recomendable - La simpatía de los anfitriones, la limpieza y tamaño de la casa. Las sábanas y toallas olían perfectamente.
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect relaxed stay - The house was so clean and tidy. It was warm and homely . Felt comfortable for first moment. Location is great for access to RAF Lakenheath Nothing !
- Sarah (10/5): Spacious/comfortable home - The place is very spacious and with comfortable furniture. The rooms are all good sizes
The kitchen is well-equipped and bathrooms clean and easy to use Nothing
- Evian (9/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): Spacious and comfortable cottage, but beware the steep dog charges - Good car parking and easy access via key safe, plus excellent communication from the owners.
Much bigger inside than from the photos and plenty of room for 4 plus people. We liked the fact the garden was enclosed (for the dog) and the conservatory was a nice place to sit. Although it’s on a main road, traffic noise did not disturb us.
Very clean - loved the cottage. In the T&C’s it says that dogs are welcome and a ‘charge may be incurred’. We had to book and pay for the cottage first, to then find the cost was £40 for a small dog for one night. There was nothing for the dog at all (eg dog water bowl) so I would change the wording to ‘you can bring your dog if you have to’. Likewise with toddlers - it is not really suitable for the under 2’s as there is no stair gate, or high chair, plus steep stairs.

- Tim Dixon (10/5): Great stay in Lakenheath village - Great location for our stay and an extremely well equipped place to stay and very clean. Will definitely stay again. Nothing. All great.
- Maureen (8/5): Excellent stay, all our needs met. - Lovely comfy beds with loads of spare bedding for cold nights, very efficient heating once we’d mastered the system, toasty warm despite frost outside. Great location for our needs. Visiting family so didn’t use cooking facilities except kettle. Downstairs bedroom and shower room superb for our needs as stairs are steep and one guest uses a walking stick. One sofa in the lounge in need of repair.
- Richard (10/5): -
- Lee Ann (10/5): -
- Donna (6/5): It was good - The location was perfect for what we needed
- Christopher (10/5): Perfect family holiday - Lovely area, very spacious, well kept, and very well cleaned. Nothing not dislike
- Bettina (8/5): Practical and well located near Hockwold Hall. - Very close to the wedding venue we were attending - nice, clean, comfortable little house - perfect for what we needed (overflow family guests). A/C - but we are spoilt North Americans used to such things and know that this is not usual in UK. Getting in and out of the front parking a tiny bit awkward - but really there's very little traffic so not an issue!
- ben (9/5): - Good location, handy for everything, large very spacious cottage
- David (6/5): -
- Karen (10/5): - Plenty of space for 6 of us. Two bathrooms. Parking for 2 cars off road. We'll equipped kitchen. Sunny garden.
- Densmore (10/5): Truly enjoyed the stay - Appreciated the downstairs bedroom and shower. Great location to public conviences. Not much
- Thomas (9/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): - House location was perfect. Lovely and clean. Group of adults travelling for a family wedding but house has lots of games included if you have children to keep entertained. Beds extremely comfortable. Host kept us well informed. There was nothing to dislike.
- Kim (8/5): - The location. The property had everything we needed. Some extras too, games if you wanted them. The beds were a little uncomfortable.
- malar (10/5): Great family stay! - Very spacious, big beds with clean bedding. Loved the downstairs bedroom for my mum who has limited mobility
- Piotr (9/5): -
- Lisa W (10/5): A beautiful house - A great sized property, with parking for 2 cars and an enclosed garden which was fantastic for our dog. The property is well equipped, clean, comfy and a real home from home. The host Dougie was really flexible when my plans changed. We will definitely stay again xx Nothing
- Maryam (10/5): Wonderful, easy, if I ever return would love to stay again - Beautiful and large- pics don’t do it justice! The sun room is so nice
- Christian (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tracie (10/5): Exceptional - There is plenty of room and spotlessly clean.
- Rebecca (10/5): 5 stars - Property was a great size and location. Very good facilities and big comfortable beds.
- Adam (4/5): Great place terrible host - Nice little cottage lots of facilities close drive away While cleaning my things I found a needle between the bedside table and the bed so I put it onto the draws then the host messaged sayin he’s goin to call the police if I didn’t pay him
- Isobel (7/5): Good -
- Scott (8/5): Very good - Cleanliness, conditioning, aesthetics, amenities, location and value were all really good. The home had a smoker’s home smell.
- Jenni (8/5): Comfortable stay, properly has lots of space - Spacious property with lots of facilities
- Geoffrey (10/5): An excellent cottage in a perfect location. All amenities were provided. - The location was perfect being close to the base at Lakenheath. Breakfast was a DIY from the local Co-OP Nothing at all
- Morgan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debbie (5/5): 50/50 - Location, size and facilities were great. Bed was very comfy. Uncomfortable sofa, lumpy pillows and duvets. Dog poo from previous visitors. Really strong smell of cooked bacon that lingered for the whole stay.
- Victoria (10/5): Lovely cottage - Great space, kitchen was well equipped. 2 very large double beds as well as a standard. Comfortable and warm. Parking for 2 cars.
Would definitely consider booking again as we have family in the village. Shower temp was a little inconsistent upstairs but all managed to have showers when needed.
- Mike (10/5): Great area, amazing accommodation, beautiful home. - Lots of space, large parking area for 2 vehicles, comfortable beds, and spotless. Thank you for everything
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tanya (9/5): Lovely, warm cottage with all you need for a home away from home. - Lovely and warm. Plenty of room. Good sized kitchen for cooking dinner. Novel layout with third bedroom having its own mini kitchen and bathroom. Tv was via internet only but we soon sussed out how to work it. A few coat hooks would add to the offering but there wasn’t really anything wrong with it. It was great.
- Rachel (8/5): Perfect for all our needs - Great extension on the back with bed, bathroom etc, which was great for my mum who can’t manage stairs. The garden in the back was also lovely for a quiet morning coffee 😁
- Gary (10/5): Good value, lovely cosy stay. - Clean & spacious
- Carol (10/5): A super place to stay, great facilities and so clean! - What a great place. The property is very spacious, beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean and the facilities available are excellent. We were a family of 5 (all adults) attending a family wedding at a venue in the next village and the location was perfect. Easy to find and just far enough away from the celebrations to have our own quiet space. In fact, we didn't quite expect as much space as we had. There's a front drive, wide enough for 2 cars. The cottage has a key safe and you are sent a code prior to your visit so you can gain access independently. This was a real bonus for us as it gave us flexibility on our arrival time. You enter the property into a lounge area, which I think can be a sleeping area. Then downstairs there's a fully equipped kitchen/ diner, another lounge area which then leads through to a utility area, bedroom and shower room. Plus there's a garden area. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms, one being very large and a bathroom. What can I say, we slept very well, thought the shower and towels great and made full use of the wonderful kitchen - and the wifi worked perfectly.
A shout out also goes to Dougie, the host, who was quick to respond to all communications and was very helpful and informative.
We highly recommend Flint Cottage as a super place to stay - thank you. Nothing - it was perfect for us.
- Mark (7/5): Good -
- Linda (8/5): Did the job but, but not perfect - Separate downstairs bedroom and living area (annex)
Downstairs toilet
Large upstairs bedrooms
Proximity to viewing planes
Off road parking for 2 cars Had to defrost the small freezer box on fridge before using
Oven dials markings are completely unreadable making cooking interesting
Both TVs are not connected to an aerial, so are only available on I player. This makes watching TV extremely hard if you are not tech savvy
No quilt cover for sofa bed
- Clare (8/5): Excellent location - Very spacious, and accommodating as needed to bring pets with us.
Bed extremely comfortable
Location was perfect One side, of one of the sofas in main living area was broken, signal on tv broken so couldn’t watch “normal channels “
- Johanne (8/5): we had a nice stay - The location is perfect The outside guttering needs attention, it drips on to the extension at the back and is very loud when it rains, the guttering at the front leaks too just as you come out the front door
- Trevor (6/5): Pleasant - Very nice cottage, though since there was a heat wave and fans were provided these could not be used as there were no plugs for them.
It was stated that there was AC in the cottage, but this could not be located.
- Ann (10/5): Would definitely recommend - Lovely property and homely
- Ashley (9/5): Superb - This home has everything you need to have a comfortable stay. Very close to restaurants and shops. The hosts are very receptive to communication.
- Cori (10/5): Beautiful home from home - We absolutely loved the whole house! It's absolutely beautiful. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Much more spacious than photos show! It was a short drive from my cousins house and so perfect to come back here instead of a long drive home. Next year we will book a longer stay! Thank you for having us. Absolutely nothing with the house!
- Amanda (8/5): Very good -
- Leo (10/5): Great cottage for families, well equipped and very central to Lakenheath and Mildenhall - The cottage is huge, very well furnished and in a wonderful location
- Johanne (9/5): Superb -
- Owain (9/5): Felt very at home and hope to stay again in the future. - Just a lovely comfortable little cottage in an ideal location for visiting Lakenheath and Mildenhall airbases. Hosts are very approachable and accommodating. Nothing
- Darrell (10/5): Exceptional - Convenience, very clean, beautiful flat
- Benjamin (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): All had a great nights sleep thank you - Lovely and clean everything we needed You couldn’t find any thing negative
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Great communication from the owners - really easy to find. Good parking and helpful welcome pack. Really pleased with our stay. Outside area with seating Bed in the downstairs bedroom sunk a bit in the middle but we all slept well, soap upstairs needed replacing
- Dane99 (8/5): A nice place to spend a night - First of all, the host was very kind in letting us check in early as we had a wedding to attend and needed a place to get ready, so that was a huge help! Thank you!
As for the place itself, it was very pleasant. There were plenty of places to sit and to relax, tv's were smart which is always something I appreciate, the rooms were spacious and the home was generally clean all round.
Garden was spacious also.
Overall, it was an ideal location to spend the night with plenty of space and ability to relax. The bed was okay. It was a rather springy mattress in the front bed room, for most this isn't an issue but for some used to a memory foam this may be.
As previously mentioned, we had an early check in, so I'm very forgiving on this given the fact checkout is 11am and we checked in just before 12!
The only not clean thing was the glass in the bathroom appeared to be dirty from the previous occupants. Everything else was to a good standard!
Last thing to mention was that the water heater was off? Why it was off in the first place, I don't know, but it meant a rather cold shower was had before I went to investigate :D
- Tracie (8/5): Very good -
- Joanne (8/5): Very good -
- Rosey (10/5): Fabulous cottage - Beautiful cottage conveniently located.
Rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. Everything you need to make your stay comfortable is in the property. It was all good
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Douglas (10/5): Beautiful cottage very homely and spacious will definitely book again - Location was excellent for our visit
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Very good accommodation, plenty of room for us all and the bed is really comfortable. There is lots of space for everyone We didn't get to explore the area so can't speak to it
- Aaron (4/5): A pleasant house in a nice area which was sadly cold with no hot water and needed a cleaner kitchen - This is a lovely house with a driveway making it easy to load things in and out of the car. There is plenty of space for the family. The beds are 2 joined singles so the join is quite uncomfortable.
The stairs are steep and there are no stair gates despite it being listed as suitable 0-12 years.
The annex part of the house feels unfinished with a small walk though kitchen and gaps under the worktops.
There was no heating or hot water. We had three children with us, one is a baby and one is a toddler. No hot water was a problem, we asked about it and were told how to turn a switch on but it was already on.
The kitchen had a dirty grill pan making it unusable.
