- Joanna (7/5): Good - Location is convenient for Bath and has it's own beauty. House is regency with some elements maintained (though coming down the stairs from the first floor landing is not for anyone unsure on their feet). Total highlight is that swifts are nesting in the eaves. You see and hear the "screaming parties" at dusk, can hear the birds rustling overnight, then the calls again in the morning. That was a fabulous treat.
Low and deep, the sofa was large and very inviting to some in our family.
Providing fly zappers was thoughtful but actually, the swifts were probably doing a better job!
There is useful storage in the bathroom and both bedrooms (alongside higgledy piggledy linens in the top floor).
Bus stops and Spar convenience store are very close by. The kitchen stinks, could be a blocked drain or maybe, it's coming from the washing machine. The light between lounge and kitchen doesn't work and as the door shuts between them, you had better know where the light is for the kitchen, as it's a bit of a reach over a step down.
The crockery assortment is really odd. Only three mugs and one tiny glass teacup in the whole place. Crockery cleanliness also clearly relies on the last people in and hadn't been checked in advance. If we had been here for a longer stay, we would have been challenged cooking properly though there are a few pans and the fridge freezer is a useful size.
The downstairs loo has had a big tap, with full flow, put over a tiny sink (all modern, this is poor design), there is a small hook for a towel but the ones provided have no loops so you have to keep one folded on the shelf that is (usefully?) also too big for the basin.
Blind in top bedroom doesn't close/open properly. Blind in front downstairs can only be operated from the hall above unless you are 5ft 10 or taller.
A nightlight or dimmer on the first floor landing would be safer for anyone from 2nd floor trying a nocturnal loo visit and it's impossible to shut that door quietly, partly due to the overhung hook. The basin in there hasn't been sealed to the wall either.
One switch and at least one bedside light in first floor bedroom are broken.
Shortage of bins throughout and no liner or lid in the bathroom.
There are lots of other little things (nowhere to put wet coats, for example) that, if sorted out would really improve the place but for now, it doesn't feel quite the standard it's charging at.
