Guest Reviews
- Mike (10/5): Beautifully finished tiny home that is a treat to the eye, close drive to Ballater and Balmoral. - This property provided a really nice country camping vibe in their little village of tiny Homes. Plenty of privacy warm clean with all of the amenities that we like. 5 minutes out of Ballater and 10 minutes to Balmoral. Perfectly quiet location to use as a base camp to explore the area. Karl is a master joiner and has thoughtfully built these homes. We had a swing incorporated into outreach deck!
- richard (9/5): Lovely place, Lovely location, Lovely people. - Everything. Nothing.
- Haley (10/5): Cozy and Peaceful! - The tiny home was lovely! Located in very peaceful surroundings, the space has everything you need. Lots of walking trails to explore and a cozy amenities to make your stay relaxing.
- István (9/5): -
- Emma (10/5): - Wonderful little house with a convenient pet friendly fence. Love staying here! Nothing
- Chris (10/5): Comfort and cuteness, and every thing you need - Very well located, quiet and every the you expected from a tiny house. Absolutely nothing
- Sam Hayles (10/5): Amazing and unique experience in this lovable tiny house. - Amazing location with great views and surrounded by rabbits. Warm and cosy and unique! A great experience in this lovely tiny house. Lots to do and see around Ballater. Everything was great and nothing negative to say at all!

- jessica (10/5): - Stunning spot, gorgeous cosy retreat away from hectic modern life. Red kites and bunny rabbits outside and the beautiful power of the river Dee flowing across the field. Hot tub was a great treat at the end a days hiking tiny Wood burner kept us warm. Pillows and duvets could have been more comfortable, perhaps need an update. But other than that I miss it already and want to stay for a month!!
- Matthew (7/5): - Location on the outskirts of Ballater was just what we wanted with a decent walk into the town.
The accommodation was good, comfortable and clean. On speaking with the staff prior to arrival, we asked if we could take our dog (Siberian Husky) as he slightly exceeded their weight limit. They were more than happy for this but advised that the cabin may be a bit small for him. As it was just two of us and the dog it was absolutely fine.
Would stay here again. Only issues we had was that the toilet cistern was not refilling so I had to fill it with water from the kettle. This was highlighted to the staff who have stated it will be fixed.
There are no beans for the coffee machine so you have to supply your own, however on going to use it, it was showing that the inside needed cleaned. Again, this was highlighted to staff.

- Natalie (9/5): Peaceful retreat in the cairngorms - Gorgeous location and views, host was very friendly and helpful, hot tub Bed could have been more comfortable.
- Bmagp (9/5): - A nice tiny house to stay for a few nights to disconnect and have a relaxing break. Good heating, it was super warm and cosy inside. They provided plenty of wood. The kitchen had everything we needed even a good coffee machine (bring coffee beans). There was a hot tub, but we didn't use it. Great place for bird watching and nature. We had an issue with the bed sheets but it was solved right away. I thought it was isolated but It was close to the road, so there was a bit of traffic noise. It would be helpful to have a sign posting indicating where was the property because it's quite dark at night.
I wouldn't recommend it for four adults/group of friends, as it would feel quite claustrophobic, unless it's a family with children.

- michael (10/5): Beautiful tiny house - The scenery was fantastic, tucked in amongst hills and just on the outskirt of ballater, theres a little walk you can take off the house that takes you down to the river the was beautiful too, the house was spacious and lovely inside, the little wood burner topped it off, kept the place so warm 🙂 waking up to the hawks on the site was amazing too, perfect little place to get away and enjoy a piece of the countryside There was nothing to dislike, if i was forced to say anything then it would be the weather

- Hannah (9/5): Cosy little house in the middle of nature. - A lovely, compact little house which was nicely-decorated and had everything we needed. We especially loved seeing all the animals nearby and being able to use the hot tub. Very close to lots of excellent walks and great communication from the hosts about getting there and accessing the property.
- Indya (10/5): -
- codewing (10/5): Cute tiny house - Cute tiny house with a small wooden oven that was really cool.
Also loved that you have a small garden
- Regina (7/5): -
- LaRae (7/5): Fancy Glamping - Well location was great for the games and the view outside was lovely. It was quiet and close to town for groceries. Bed was comfy and WiFi was great for Netflix. The carpentry and efficiency use of space is amazing It was a new experience for us like a pod! Great communication but did not meet hosts. It’s super small and no way 4 adults could sleep here so thank goodness our friends could not make it. It is also very expensive for the size it’s like fancy camping. Floor needs tlc

- Marie (10/5): -
- Tayler (10/5): Beautiful tiny home - The location was wonderful, has a beautiful river just a short walk away and the tiny houses are very quaint and lovely. The sofa bed was a tad hard.
- Simon (10/5): -
- Cunningham (10/5): Just cute and total bliss. - Absolutely brilliant stay. Beautiful little house. So quirky and well kitted out. Has everything you need for a quiet, pleasant break. Loved the wood burner, bed upstairs and the outside areas! Hot tub was superb as well and we enjoyed the fire pit.
Would thoroughly recommend and can't wait to come back.
- Stephanie (10/5): Danke für alles! - Alles super. Tolle Lage, toller Ausblick. Sehr nette Gastgeber. Nichts.
- Rupinder (10/5): Gorgeous little tiny home with personality in a STUNNING location. - location

- Avril (10/5): - Fantastic location and facilities. Hot tub was a very welcome treat after all the walking. Everything was excellent.
- Zara (10/5): Beautiful little house and perfect location. Would highly recommend! - Loved the location, the hot tub and the fact something so small had everything we needed! Everything was perfect!
- Leah (10/5): Excellent. Will be back. - Clean. Everything you need is there. Great location. Very happy with our stay. Gets very hot which was quite uncomfortable to sleep in but there are windows so not much you can do with the hot weather.
- Katrina (8/5): Sweet, compact, comfortable house in a stunning location. - Very comfortable, compact and lovely spot. A little noisy at times with banging and mowing but these stopped on request.
- Martin (10/5): Looking forward to my next visit! - This was just wonderful, I’d have stayed longer had it been available. Such a cutely furnished tiny house. The lovely hosts are always trying to improve these already excellent cabins by adding more thoughtful details.
I loved the skylight above the bed. Best light for reading. Drift off to sleep with the stars twinkling above you. Great Deeside walks just outside the front door.
Perfect cosy place for two; I’d say fitting four in here might get a little cramped, especially if you’re going to leave 4 people’s luggage lying around randomly.
Hot tub a nice feature. One commenter complained about not being able to use it in the rain, which, frankly, is weird. When you’re immersed in hot water, the rain can’t touch you.
The hosts were extremely friendly, and, in my case, literally went that extra mile! Big thank you to Karl, Bess, and Stacey! The quality of the newspaper for lighting the fire. I prefer to incinerate a broadsheet.
- Duncan (9/5): Superb -
- Wioleta (10/5): Simply amazing - The hammock on the pergola made the stay just perfect for us!
We really enjoyed our stay! We did not expect this stay to be as exceptional! There was everything we needed as the Kitchen was fully equipped! Even though the hot tub is shared you still got your privacy to use exclusively! Perfect wee place and not far from Ballater and Braemar! Very peaceful! Loved the fact there was no TV! Wish we stayed for longer but we will definitely be back again.
- Euan (9/5): BRIDGE OF GAIRN COTTAGE A WEE GEM IN THE HIGHLANDS - The location and access to a hot tub was perfect. The coffee machine was a great addition. We also used the Pizza Oven. Logs and eco firelighters could be supplied next to Pizza over, firepit etc. All good and great for a family and also our Schnauzer. We liked pretty much everything.
- Donna (9/5): Superb - Lovely views , hosts was welcoming and had the most delicious cake . House was clean and had everything we needed . I loved we could take our dog with us
- Moyra (9/5): Superb - it was beautiful and fun.
- James (10/5): Excellent place to stay and relax in - The hot tub - perfect after a day's walking. The layout and design of the tiny house was excellent. Clean, comfortable and fun to stay in. Nothing.
- James (10/5): Perfection - Amazing location with beautiful views and lots of peace and quiet. Friendly and helpful hosts who made us feel so welcome. Amazing little house with everything you need and lots of thoughtful details. Couldn’t ask for more- we will be returning with our children!
- Mason (10/5): Beautiful, peaceful and amazing experience. - What an amazing location, and the tiny house was tiny but perfect. We were so pleased with this accommodation. The girls loved it and there were so many lovely touches around the place. The hosts were amazing and it was a short cycle from Ballater (although up a hill to get there but down on the way back to Ballater). There wasn't anything we didn't like. There wasn't an oven in the tiny house but that was on the description, so we expected that.
- Rachael (10/5): A beautiful location and such a cosy cabin! - The hosts were super friendly and so accommodating! We would definitely stay again!
- Aleksandra (10/5): Exceptional - Cosy, warm, situated in the most amazing place with breathtaking views. I will be back for sure. Everything was perfect for me. We really did enjoy our stay.
- Christina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christian (8/5): Very good -
- Scott (10/5): Superb everyone should give it a go - Beautiful location, amazing little village, scenery was stunning, X Directions to location,
- Eilidh (10/5): Loved it, very relaxing wee break - would love to come stay again! - Stunning wee property. Very clean and well equipped. Good location with ability to walk into town. Kitchen had everything we needed, proper coffee machine was great! Good shower too.
Shower gel, hand soap and washing up liquid supplied were good and smelled lovely.
Hot tub was great, as was the wood fired pizza oven.
Very comfortable and peaceful. No issues really - a barrier of some sort around the “upstairs” bed area would be nice (we have a wee dog who likes to sleep near us - there was space for her bed next to ours but we were worried about her falling / jumping down in the night).
Bed area got very warm and could use some better ventilation, we had the window open (despite it being near freezing outside) but there wasn’t much air flow, maybe a small fan would be good..
Felt the £10/night pet fee was a bit much given our dog doesn’t shed hair & is so small she probably made less mess than us!
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning location. Hot tub was awesome
- Aimee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adele (10/5): Absolutely gorgeous gem - What a gorgeous little gem tucked away in a perfect location! Gorgeous views, amazing hosts. Cute cabin. Hot tub available, playground and fire pits. Perfect location for walking, skiing and visiting Balmoral ! Which is well worth a visit. Really good value for money, warm and toasty and absolutely spotless. X We were hoping for snow but we can't blame the lack of that on anyone 🤣🤣
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sonia (10/5): Great peaceful get away with the best view's of the stars! - We were lucky and seem to have the whole place to ourselves, we only used the hot tub, sadly the weather wasn't the best for a fire pit or pizza oven but the hot tub was AMAZING!
The tiny house was so cute! Perfect for 2 people, we did have our wee pooch with us so was limited on floor space when her bed was there and the dining table was out but we made it work.
The bed has a window above it which was STUNNING at night as you could lay in bed and see millions of starts! And even seen the satellites moving round earth!
Great little get away we absolutely loved it! Only thing we could think of would to have better access over the fence to the fields at the back. We had to walk round the front of the property and down the very muddy dirt tract and through the farmer's gate to get to the fields that the property looks on. So a better set of steps or a fence for dog access would be perfect.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gba (10/5): Nice wee holiday - The accommodation and location is a perfect get-away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are many nature walks nearby- short drive/cycle, that is away from the roads. Even though shared, having a hot tub is great- our stay did not overlap so we got it all to ourselves on one night. Even with just a small wood burner, the home keeps warm for long.
- Kevin (10/5): A perfect place to fully switch off - Super cosy, clean and peaceful. The views from nearby walks were amazing. Hot tub was fantastic.
Close to nearby shops and the most amazing bakery at Crathie. We loved everything. If you are planning on using the hot tub taking your own extra towel would probably be a good idea.
- Emily (10/5): Excellent - I liked how clean and spacious the tiny house was I couldn't find the entrance to get to the tiny house I parked my car but walked around a few times to then figured out it was by the big door
- Lynda (4/5): Make sure you are good friends with your roommate! - Location No microwave, but a state of the art coffee machine, but that didn't help when all food was microwavable, and it is 9pm at night. Also hot tub had been locked about 6pm, when it should have been available till 9pm
A more accurate description would be a shed on wheels ( why on wheels?) Instead of a tiny house!. The advertised fire pit turned out to be the inside of a washing machine in front of an old caravan.
Sadly a disappointment.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb - Beautiful tiny home, with a great little log burner. Beautiful location well located near Ballater. Comfortable bed. Provided towels are quite small. Would be nice to have somewhere to put bags to keep the place tidy.
- Autumn (10/5): Comfortable and cosy - Cute, cosy and had everything you needed to hand. It was exactly as shown online
- Zack (9/5): Wonderfully unique and enchanting stay in the Cairngorms - Great accommodation (partner absolutely loved it for a birthday gift). I enjoyed the professional coffee machine. We both loved the hot tub and log burner, especially on a cold and snowy night.
Close to Ballater which has great dinner and bar options for all!
Will be back again! Would have been handy to have a surface cleaner spray for cleaning up after meals and shampoo and conditioner would have been a nice touch in the bathrooms.
- Pammy (7/5): Beautiful area, lovely wee house just a shame about the issues we had as this tainted our honeymoon stay. - The and wildlife, had everything inside the house we needed, hot tub was excellent, everything was spotlessly clean. There was consistent works going on so there was banging, the door kept coming off its hinges in the bathroom, we were promised a romantic set up for when we arrived as it was our honeymoon but this was not delivered due to a miscommunication between staff and nothing was offered or provided as an alternative although the owner did come to our accommodation and apologise.
- Eilidh (9/5): Superb - The location was stunning, very peaceful with lots of walks nearby. The house itself was very clean and very well insulated without having to put the log burner/heater on. The hot tub was lovely to relax in and was kept very clean. The on-site hosts were friendly and chatty and helped us with anything we needed. Overall, great value for money and a great place for a peaceful few days away. Although there was plenty wood for the log burner, we had to chop quite a lot during our stay as the pieces were too large for the burner. Although we did not mind doing this, having that bit of extra pre-cut would have been ideal. Apart from that, everything was lovely.
- Paul (10/5): A very pleasant stay - Quirky , warm , comfortable , and well thought out accommodation . Great location with nearby walks . Hot tub . Friendly and helpful hosts . Nothing really
- Zoe (9/5): Wonderful stay in a beautiful cabin with a gorgeous view. Highly recommend. - The wood burning stove helped keep us very warm. Having decent coffee from the coffee machine was wonderful. The location and view were fab! Would have been better if we had a bit more storage for luggage/bag. (Maybe the 2nd set of folding chairs under the ladder could be made available if needed? That would give a wee nook to put a holdall in)
- Melanie (8/5): Very good - Very cosy and cute! Quirky accommodation in a beautiful part of Scotland.
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mayellen (9/5): Superb - The cabin was so cosy and beautifully built. I loved the upstairs 'bedroom' with skylight. Nothing!
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Mareth (8/5): Very good - A microwave or oven would have rated this accommodation top marks.
- Felicity (10/5): Perfect one-night stay for me and my dog in a cosy Tiny House with kind and welcoming hosts - Karl and Bess were very kind and welcoming. Lovely cosy accommodation which was beautifully presented and had everything that I needed for my one-night stay.
- Karen (9/5): Superb - House was extraordinarily cute with an amazing view. All the info was very easily laid out and the house was super clean. The wood stove was all set up for us upon arrival and worked very well. Hot tub was incredible after a long day of hiking in the Cairmgorns and was very easy to use singlehandedly. Kitchen was well stocked. Not the owner's fault but good to know: as other reviewers have said, the tiny house is TIGHT for 4 adult sized people (we had to leave most of our luggage in the car to have room to walk around).
For the owners: It may be nice to install a clear plastic partition with holes for sound in between the loft and space below because the fear of accidentally kicking off the duvee/other items onto the glassware/ceramics below did keep us up at night a little bit. It may also be nice to install some sort of hanging rack above the wood stove to dry socks/insoles after hiking- not something everyone would appreciate but certainly something we would have liked.
Sign at edge of road was faded and was very hard to spot driving by- could be repainted to be more obvious that this wasn't just someone's house we were driving into.
- Volker (10/5): For us a great finale after a round trip through Scotland! Thank you! :-) - Flexible check-in by getting key out of a locker with code, easy and close parking, cleverly equipped house - even with a techy coffee machine, unexpectedly much room in a tiny house, perfect shower, nice and new and comfy feeling in the house made of light wood, nice lighting and decoration, great view into nature! (And we did not even try the hot tub.) Stayed there with 3 people and even 4 would have worked! All really great, no real issues!!! Would be nice to have a _fully_ closing door to the bath room. Could use some hints about ways how to best _walk_ into the village. And also some more details about the fan system - run it also when windows are open?
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabriele (10/5): Incredible value for money if you like tiny houses! - If you are browsing this tiny house - hurry up and complete your booking! This is the loveliest tiny house in an incredibly quiet area, beautiful view of mountains and fields, the tiny house has all possible facilities (fully stocked kitchen including kettle, fridge, artisan espresso coffee machine - but remember to bring coffee!), cute bathroom, small stove for chilly evenings, hot tub with a view. The linen, towels and duvet is great quality and same goes for the lovely interior and cleanliness of the tiny house. This accommodation is incredible value for money and was our absolute favourite! The hosts are lovely and very responsive.
- Sylvia (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): Absolutely perfext - Loved the location and the accommodation. It had everything we needed. N/A
- Molly (8/5): Very good -
- Gemma (7/5): Good value for money in a lovely part of the country - Lovely location and nice outside environment to sit in if weather is nice. Good communication from host. I wouldn’t really say it is suitable for more than two people. Sofa bed is uncomfortable and bedding did not fit properly.
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location in the countryside with Ballater close by.
The organic bottle of red wine was ideal
- Keith (10/5): Clean, comfortable and quiet in a delightful, quirky tiny house. We loved it. - Clean, comfortable and warm…this was delightful, quirky accommodation with a great view in a quiet, private setting. The hot tub was a nice addition and the wild flowers very appealing. Parking was easy and free. The bottle of wine was a nice, welcoming touch too. Thank you, we’ve had a lovely few days. The instructions given for locating the property were excellent though a bigger roadside visible sign would have been useful too. Also, perhaps a map attached to the access gate from the parking would have helped identify the 3 properties. These are minor issues which can be easily fixed. Apart from that….nothing.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Calv (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steph (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place. Everythibg
- Harry (8/5): Very good -
- Pam (9/5): What a lovely little spot, staff where so lovely and helpful, little house was lovely and had everything you needed with - The location was just perfect, scenery amazing, little sun trap and the hot tub was lovely Nothing it was all great
- Andrew (8/5): Great fun - Location and unique! The wall heater didn’t work and the linen was really creased
- Nicole (9/5): Superb -
- Sharon (10/5): Perfect - Quirky fully equipped and comfortable Nothing
- Eleanor (8/5): Lovely wee house in a beautiful location for walking or driving. - It was quirky and different and I loved that there was tea and coffee and salt and pepper and washing up liquid! The bottle of wine was a nice touch too. My daughter loved the up top bed 😊 There was no cover over the hot tub and because it rained the whole time we were there we weren’t able to use it, that was the main reason I booked it (maybe a temp gazebo could be put up in poor weather?) Also, no where to hang up jackets (hooks high up in the shower would have been perfect for wet coats). Another thing that annoyed me was the gutter isn’t finished and we had a stream of water coming out the gutter right above the front door.
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (9/5): Cozy home surrounded by beautiful scenery in the Scottish Highlands! - The stay at the tiny home was excellent, the cabin was very efficiently organised and very clean and tidy. They allow for pets to stay (for an additional £20 charge to additional cleaning costs), and there were plenty of amenities with clear instructions on each. My favourite feature was the small wood burner, used to heat the home. It was a great pleasure to use to keep the Highland chill away. The wood burner was pre-prepared with a ready to light fire, and tinder, kindling and fuel was available on site. There was also an excellent coffee machine, a hot tub as well as regular tea, coffee and sugar in the home.
The home is a 5 minute drive from Ballater, so it's not a long way to reach civilization if you need any sort of shopping or want to sample the local restaurants/pubs. And the general area has plenty to do, including endless walks/hikes, a ski centre and nature reserves all a short drive away.
Otherwise, I'd recommend bringing some indoor entertainment - if the weather isn't great and you're stuck indoors you may be lacking for things to do - there's no TV so a tablet or laptop is handy for watching shows/movies, and the WiFi is great for streaming too. But I definitely recommend some board games or a couple of books if you're stuck inside during poor weather. Otherwise there's plenty to do outdoors.
All in all an excellent stay, good value for the money and I'd definitely come back again! It's a perfect getaway for couples, and maybe one or two kids. Great experience overall! One criticism I would raise is that there was a limited amount of towels and nowhere to dry them effectively, so I'd recommend bringing one or two of your own, especially if you plan to use the hot tub (which requires showering before and after use). By the end of our three day stay we were using damp towels to dry ourselves, so I'd hope to see a way to dry towels or perhaps additional towels to use, especially if you have four people staying.
Also, the pizza oven is actually wood fired, requiring you to start and maintain your own fire in the oven, and the wood supplied on site isn't great for this. There is a pile of proper firewood you can buy for £5 on site, but unless you know what you're doing I wouldn't expect to use the pizza oven unless you're prepared to build a real fire and keep it going.
- Tanya (8/5): Very good - Lovely, quirky, very clean and cosy in a lovely spot.
Had fun lighting the stove, learning how to make proper coffee and hot tub. Hosts were quick to answer any queries pre arrival and were on hand during our stay. Walked round nearby loch Muick one day - stunning. Ballater is a lovely wee village with lots of walks, excellent Bakery and Indian restuarant. Only thing was there was no where to dry wet clothes, shoes, towels so come prepared with spares.
- Laura (10/5): Absolutely fantastic last-minute weekend away. Beautiful location, beautiful house. - Stunning location, easy access to nearby walking routes and not far from Ballater. Hot tub was brilliant even in mid-January and couldn't believe how toasty the house stayed once it had warmed up.
