- ROBERT (9/5): Superb break in a unique property with great charm. Excellent location with all the amenities. - Very clean and tidy. All the essential equipment for a great stay. Excellent location. Donna, our contact was very helpful in giving directions and helping us once we arrived- excellent ! Donna even suggested the local pubs for best food and atmosphere- great suggestions. Second key in case coupled went on separate walks.
- Hancock (9/5): -
- Robyn (8/5): A quaint old cottage in a beautiful village but not suitable for tall people. -
- Lindsey (10/5): A lovely cottage in the most beautiful part of Cornwall - The decor. I LOVE interior design and loved the interior of this cottage. It’s stunning and so quirky. The colours used complimented each other so well. Was done really lovely!
The character of the property was stunning. From the uneven floorboards, to the banisters, simply beautiful.
Having stayed at several properties in Polperro, to have a bath (and a stunning one at that) was fabulous! (Has a shower too)
We loved this cottage! Not so much ‘didn’t like’, I travelled with my mother in law, I didn’t realise how many stairs there are, that said, she coped well and I absolutely loved it! Opening the door and exploring every room was so much fun! Was lovely!
- Mags (9/5): Fab property - Super easy
- Albert (9/5): - Location is outstanding with access to all the history and quaintness of Polperro
- Emma (10/5): Fabulous stay, will definitely stay again. - Clean, great location and facilities, comfy beds and friendly hosts. Nothing.
- David (8/5): The price we paid made this a bargain for such a central location in Polperro. - Much lower price than other properties we were considering. Central Polperro location. Quirky lay-out over 4 floors. Felt like a traditional fisherman’s cottage, complete with uneven floors. I expected it to be cold (in late Oct) but it wasn’t. Parking space provided (a good walk away in the main car park). Yes, a few minor dislikes but it would be unreasonable to not expect a few at this price. (Most rooms had no view, parking a long walk away, hot water very hot and not easy to mix…)
- Christopher (10/5): - Lovely clean presented property. Great location, and great communication from the owner. Nothing, it was lovely. Worth mentioning it was quirky with low ceilings with kitchen on the lowest floor and living room on the top floor but I think this added to the character of the property.
- David (9/5): Wonderful place right by the harbour. -
- Lisa (3/5): Very disappointed - The area was lovely. Lots of problems with the accommodation, including no hot water in the shower, broken bed, litter found in the bedroom, no toiletries, pet bowls, pet basket or coffee machine as was advertised, only 3 towels and 1 hand towel for 4 of us for 6 days, was told to go to the neighbor to borrow one. Broken dirty fans, strained carpets, glass panel in the window coming out, shower fell apart, rusty. Stains on bedding, broken plug sockets, rust on top of microwave.
- Adrian (9/5): - Querky place over 4 floors lots of stairs Taking the coffee upstairs to the lounge!
- Jane (10/5): -
- Maddox (10/5): Exceptional - Sea view
- Singh (10/5): Exceptional - We had a lovely 4 night stay at this beautiful cottage clean tidy, modern fully fitted kitchen bathroom clean beds.
- Pauline (9/5): Superb - Right on the coastal path, perfect location. Very quirky 18th century cottage Although shown on photographs was surprised it was over 4 floors with kitchen on bottom floor and living room on top. Bit of a challenge for our tired legs after walking
- Ben (8/5): Very good -
- Victoria (9/5): Superb -
- Rebecca (9/5): A really special location - A gorgeous tiny fisherman’s cottage - recently done up with a lovely kitchen and bathroom - wonky floorboards and real character. A really special location The shower wasn’t made for someone above 5 ft 10, but nice and strong and very useable for a few days
- Janine (10/5): Exceptional - Such a quirky and characterful cottage. Tastefully decorated and very homely.
- Lee (9/5): Superb -
- Bernard (8/5): Very good -
- Hayley (9/5): Fantastic location and house - The location and quirky feel Take your own dish clothes and tea towels, sounds silly but we didn’t it was a pain
- Elton (10/5): Superb little gem in prettiest village in Cornwall - Great location, the property was more than comfortable for a group of 6 friends. Getting to/from property was tricky as cannot drive all the way to it, but a price worth paying for a beautiful property next to the harbour.
- Mandy (10/5): A fabulous weekend in the heart of Polperro harbour - Clear instructions provided and a courtesy call from the host
- Victoria (10/5): Absolutely perfect ! - This property was absolutely gorgeous and super clean. I had really good communication with Donna and she went above and beyond in making sure my stay was perfect.
The property was warm and cosy with a fabulous sound system in the kitchen. Everything you need and sea views! Was absolutely perfect and can't wait to come back.
- Carol (10/5): We loved the cottage, the location, we loved everything. - The location was perfect! The cottage was sooo cute and just right for our stay. It was close to the restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. If we were there in summer it was close to the beach to swim.
- Danny (10/5): A beautiful old house in a wonderful location - Location, rustic charm Nothing
- Karen (8/5): Really enjoyable stay in a fantastic location. - Fabulous location.
Well maintained. Kitchen seemed well equipped, although we didn’t use it much as it was a short stay and we ate out at local pubs which were all really close.
Great communication from Donna. Very welcoming and, if we had had any issues (which we didn’t), am sure she would have resolved them. Not ideal if you are over 6 ft as too tall for shower. Able to use bath though. Absolutely fine for shorter people - it’s a fisherman’s cottage with low doorways, so only to be expected.
Description does say toiletries are provided, but there was only a hand wash in the bathroom.
- Denise (5/5): Passable - Not a lot really .very mi's match and damp Very costraphobic windows didn't open and cloths felt damp in morning
- Maria (4/5): Small and not easy to move around the house - Good location Steep stairs, damp smell ,noise from other rooms ie thin floors.Lack of hand rails on stairs.
- Jane (7/5): Good - Position Few comments passed to host
- Natalie (6/5): Beautiful place, and beautiful cottage, but didnt thrill us with the cleanliness/ facilities - The location was absolutely fabulous and the pubs/ harbour etc were amazing! The bedding felt damp and musty and had a smell to it that wasn't pleasant.
There was no shampoo/ wash products
- Burgoyne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (6/5): Nice location spoiled by the smell of damp and black mould - Great location for the harbour path The smell of damp hit you in the face as soon as you penes the front door
Black mould on the walls in the kitchen and on the stairway .
Not really what you would expect and most definitely not suitable for my children who both suffer from asthma which was made a lot worse from 3 nights in this property
- James (6/5): Great property and a beautiful town with stunning scenery. The sad thing about it is all the restaurants are shut. Most - Great property very cute with real character and everything you need. No bath plug!
- Emma (8/5): Had a lovely few days in beautiful Polperro. House exceeded my expectations. Donna the owner was lovely and helpful - Location - fabulously situated just off the harbour with lovely sea views from sitting room.
The house had so much character Some of the pans in the kitchen do not work with the induction hob so discovered this with trial and error.
- Duncan (8/5): Very good - Location And decor nicely done Narrow stairs ok for all but mum in her 70’s which meant she was waited on hand and foot :-)
- Kate (9/5): Perfect Polperro stay for anyone travelling with children, a dog, a grandparent, or all 3! - Fabulous location. Great kitchen and living space. Perfect for a family holiday. Lovely host who had great communication throughout and messaged us to make sure we were comfortable. Would have liked a spare bin bag & a washing tablet. And that’s us being picky. Other than that we really did have a fab stay, & we were able to buy both easily from the local store.
- Jennie (10/5): We loved our stay in this historic but modern and clean cottage - We loved the feel of the history to this cottage , the location was great and the decor was modern and very fitting with lots of character & comfort . Well equipped with good shower & nice fresh beds . Easy to find and easy access using a keysafe with a free car parking space which we found very convenient & had no problem using.
Donna was an amazing host . She was very accommodating , helpful and always on hand . You don’t find this very often so thank you .
Polperro is just lovely . A very pretty traditional Cornish harbour with lots of character and lovely places to eat (& drink) fantastic shops , cheese , wine , gifts ,restaurants & pubs. We would highly recommend The Blue Peter pub and Three Pilchards for food and drinks (esp cocktails at Three Pilchards WOW ) it’s got a fabulous outdoor dining area with amazing views of polperro . Stunning !! Dog friendly everywhere you go.
Literally straight out the door turn right for walks along the coastal path to Talland Bay (30 mins) then onto Looe (hour-ish) walk quite hilly though . Boat ride from polperro to Looe and back which is a bonus , £15 each way.
A little tip . It’s a 10 minute walk from car park to cottage . Don’t be put off . If you drive into the village as far as you can go until it gets tight drop off bags and person turn around , go and park car then walk down . You end up being quite near to the cottage saves a little hilly walk with bags . This may not work during peak times though as road would be very busy. Nothing
- Lynsey (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and views. Donna was attentive when needed. Clean and tidy and lots of character. Would definitely revisit
- Mark (7/5): Nice property but no attention to detail some of the things we have mentioned were in other reviews and have obviously n - Great location Low ceilings steep stairs and 4 levels this was not mentioned also toiletries were non existent and 2 rolls of toilet paper for 6 people for 3 nights was insufficient when we asked for more we were to buy it up at the shop Also no laundry powder
The kitchen pots and pan’s didn’t work properly on the induction hob which made it hard to cook
- Michelle (10/5): Great location to get a feel for Polperro - The location on the Coastal Path along the Polperro harbour
- Tammy (9/5): A lovely relaxed stay in a beautiful traditional property in a great location. - A quirky traditional property in a great location. The bathroom was beautiful and everywhere was very clean. As a family of six there was plenty of room for us all and we had a very enjoyable stay here. Would definitely recommend. The property itself was great, just a couple of minor inconveniences such as we couldn’t find a tin opener and the downstairs tv didn’t turn on. One of the beds was very wobbly and creaky but these things could be sorted very easily and didn’t greatly affect our stay, overall we were very happy.
- Rachel (10/5): Cozy warm and very inviting - It was very and more, the house still has the old fisherman's feel with a little modern twist. The bed were comfy we all had a great night sleep. Donna was always at the end of the phone if needed, but she couldn't of been more clearer with all instructions. The kitchen was well equipped and in working order. I will be definitely be back.
- Julie (7/5): We enjoyed exploring Polperro, very easy access to the SW Coastal path (with its stunning scenery), the beach and a love - Good location and proximity to local amenities and services.
Reserved car parking space even though it was a good walk from the property.
Property was clean and well equipped. Kitchen in the basement and lounge upstairs on top floor - so a hike down 3 flights of stairs to make a cup of tea and back up 3 flights of stairs to sit and drink it.
Tea and coffee provided for arrival but no milk. Visitors need to be made aware the local grocery shops shut at 5pm.
- Kelly (10/5): Polperros hidden gem - Quirky , great location and homely . A beautiful place all very comfortable and appealing ! Great nights sleep ! Things like cleaning products would have been helpful .
- D (9/5): Superb - Great position in Polperro, quirky house which was very comfortable & clean. Everything looked very new and well maintained. Would happily stay again.
- Emma (9/5): Absolutely amazing stay in a super quirky, cosy and well equipped gorgeously decorated cottage. Love - The cottage was absolutely wonderful, cosy & quirky. Set over 4 floors, we had lots of room and space and the cottage had everything we needed. It was really lovely and warm and super comfortable. Loved the Cornish rustic decor, slightly slanted floors and the lounge & kitchen were absolutely gorgeous. Loved the extra little touches, such as the throws and blankets in the lounge to snuggle in. Loved that the owners have bought lots of gorgeous little home accessories from the local, unique gift shops, supporting local businesses. Despite being a bigger property than we actually needed, we found it so cosy. Water was nice and hot and lots of little places to store things. The property manager was super friendly, helpful and accommodating. We found the locals really friendly and the property is in an excellent location on the Warren at the foot of the coastal path and a short minutes walk to a tea room, museum and the harbour, shops, pubs. The best view is from the lounge and whilst slightly obstructed by a building, it was still lovely to catch glimpses of the sea. Absolutely loved it and would definitely stay again. Top tip - if settling in for the evening in the cottage, bring everything up from the kitchen (drinks, snacks etc) to save trips downstairs, as the kitchen is on the bottom floor & the lounge on the top floor. There's even a little tray in the kitchen to help with this! & after lots of walking and exploring, we enjoyed snuggling up with the TV & log burner later in the evenings. The kitchen was really awesome and so well equipped. Watch out for the low ceilings particularly in the bedroom above the kitchen. My husband is 6ft 2 & did bump his head a few times!!! But it all added to the quaint & quirky feel of the place and it is warned of in the information folder. Polperro is stunning. Not the properties fault and it should have been easy and stress free but someone had parked in our allocated car parking space but this was easily rectified by the property manager who advised us to leave a note on our dash board. Doing this meant we were able to park elsewhere without getting a parking ticket. As we went out of season there were lots of other places to park but I'd imagine this being trickier in the summer months when it's busy. Top tip - make sure that you have a pen and paper in the car just incase!!! I wouldn't imagine that this happens too often but we thought it was dealt with quickly and efficiently by Donna, the property manager.
Probably not recommended for people with any mobility issues due to the steep narrow stairs and lots of them but honestly, can't think of a single thing we didn't like about the place as we actually loved the stairs and exploring the property!!!!
- Ann (8/5): Very good -
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional - The quirkiness of the cottage
- Ian (10/5): Magnificent! Perfect for a short break in the most atmospheric fishing village in Cornwall. From initial booking, owners - Quaint, quirky, delightful cottage! Nothing!
- Vicky (8/5): Beautiful modern property in a great location. - Location, cleanliness. The bath!! Basic things that could have had more thought. Single half a toilet roll, 1.5 logs for fire etc. needs some work in that the drains don’t drain very quickly.
- Jane (10/5): Perfect. - Have stayed in Polperro several times at different properties and this was perfect meeting all our needs. nothing
- Anonymous (10/5): Throughly enjoyable stay at this traditional Cornish cottage - Ideally situated close to harbour shops and public house’s
- David (8/5): Very good - Comfy airy living room and comfy beds. Well thought out, given the age and nature of the property.
The origins of the property shine through, it's a nice base to relax in a beautiful village. Lots of options for food and good access to beaches and the other local villages. Could do with a good quality breakfast pan for the induction hob to make breakfast easy.
- Samantha (7/5): Good - Location was amazing - right in the centre of Polperro. The property is beautifully re-done; a little quirky, set across 4 floors with the kitchen at the bottom and the lounge at the top but it's good exercise! The beds were very comfortable and everywhere was very clean. There are low ceilings which may not suit everyone. We actually don't mind them at all but there was one drawback which was that it was difficult for my husband to stand in the shower (he is 6ft).
- Ghrrsn (10/5): Exceptional - Right on the edge of the harbour near the polppero fishing heritage museum and harbour front cafe which is great for breakfast and people watching
A short stroll to some of the best views looking back into the harbour
Quirky layout spread across 4 floors
Keep your head down in door ways and some of the rooms as with all property's of this age
A must is to try the 3 pilchards food the fish pie is amazing
- Stephen (9/5): Superb - Location good,as expected. Interior design excellent.Clean and comfortably furnished. Kitchen area unwelcome damp musty smell.bathroom sink slow to drain. Steep steps in, and lower stairs would be difficult for people with mobility problems.
- Anonymous (9/5): I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again - Ideally situation in harbour, lovely and clean . Donna gave us contact for baggage taxi to property from car park which I would advise using. Nothing
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Neal (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely house and great communication with owner. Carpark is quite far away from property but luggage taxi makes it much easier.
- Dominique (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful and amazing location. Our son loved it
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Anita (8/5): Would definitely stay again! Very friendly host. - It was a lovely, cosy central property. Free parking was a bonus and the beds were really comfortable Nowhere to sit outside, but had benches on the pier less than 2 min walk, so sat there watching the sun go down and jumped in the sea in the morning
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely , quirky property in a beautiful location.
Donna was so helpful. will definitely re-visit.
- Wendy (10/5): lovely village , views from Coattage great , lovely people and food great , good loacation to travel around from as a ba - it’s a quirky place lots of character , it’s been thought through and adapted to current times, clean all that with would need under one roof for a stay away from home .
- Mat (8/5): quirky place , fantastic location - great location , very quirky layout but lovely. lounge on top floor. kitchen on bottom floor. ceilings too low for someone of my great height unfortunately!!
- Stephen (8/5): A lovely old cottage which put me in the right mood to unwind. - Being right next to the harbour The bed was on a slope but wasn’t the end of the world.
