Guest Reviews
- nicola (7/5): - Well equipped Noice from bar next door
- Jenny (9/5): Loved this cozy & quirky space. Deceptively spacious and a perfect place for our family to stay overnight. - Beautifully finished and cozy space. For a longer stay the kitchen equipment might be a bit limited
- Mccaffery (10/5): -
- Emma (8/5): Lovely, comfortable stay. - Beautiful cottage right in the middle of town! Could have done with a stair gate leading from living room to kitchen, as this is down some steps and we have a little one. And a microwave would have been good. The hob had a few issues too. But overall no really bad points! Loved the place
- Toby (9/5): Comfortable 1 night stay in the centre of Sleaford - Cosy, warm, quirky cottage great for the family to stay Nothing
- Jon (5/5): Don’t expect to sleep well - Location Very uncomfortable beds and sofa bed was horrendous
- Ros (9/5): Quirky and quaint! - This was an old, quirky, quaint three storey cottage in the centre of Sleaford. We booked it as we were attending a nephew's birthday party in the town. It was a very convenient short walk to get there. Parking was free at the local Sainsbury's (also a short stroll away) as we were there over Saturday night/Sunday morning. The facilities were good. Ornaments and pictures were quirky but interesting! Bathroom on first floor, separate toilet on the ground floor. It wouldn't do for people who had a problem with stairs as they were uneven in height. We thought it was great and the beds were VERY comfortable! We would have liked a microwave to cook the porridge for breakfast! Everything else was fine.
- Ruth (8/5): Sweet old cottage - It is a sweet cottage, plenty of clean towels, clean bathroom and linen. The front door wouldn’t stay shut unless you locked it, no letter box , so we all had to get up when our friends left early in morning, to lock door again.
It was a little dusty, I know it’s an old cottage, but would have been nice for it to have been done before we arrived.
- David (6/5): - Unfortunately for us, we had a toddler, and there was multiple levels, all so brick steps, with a brick floor. However, this is a perfect location for 2 couples, built into the side of the pub, that had great music, and food, although we didn’t eat there. Staff were very pleasant. At £170 halved for 2 couples, I honestly can’t see you find a better location. We would definitely return, just without the kids 😁 Nothing. Our only issues were based on suitability for kids, that’s not a reflection on the venue or staff. Great place.
- Josephine (8/5): Convenient for a small group on a short stay. - I was pleasantly surprised to discover a full 'hotel' type breakfast was available, as the pub has a B and B too. Also good that there is a downstairs toilet, which I hadn't expected, and which, with four of us staying there, was very useful! Quirky design and decor gave it character, and the sitting room was spacious and comfortable. Good towels! Staircase slightly difficult to manoeuvre, but that is just the nature of the property.
- Meg (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful home. Equipped with everything we needed for our stay.
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicholas (7/5): Overall happy - Nice and comfy Could have been more kitchen utensils. No grater, colander etc. Pots had to clean before use. Christmas songs at 9pm was a bit much but to be expected!
- Tobyfelton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Crankshaw (9/5): Superb -
- Jacqueline (7/5): A good base for our 2 days in Sleaford. - Plenty of space for our group of 4 adults and 2 children Due to the nature of the old building with 3/4 floors it wasn’t too toddler friendly. More stair gates would be useful plus a high chair and travel cot. Also only 1 key for 6 of us was definitely not enough.
- Rob (8/5): Very good - Ideal location for the town and the function we were attending
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place, very comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, very clean and tidy. Great breakfast at the pub next door
- Nicola (10/5): Highly recommend it for convenience…fab pub next door and a £25 taxi ride from Cranwell - Quirky, great use of space, fab bathrooms, comfy beds It was hot weather so slept with windows open… after a late night of wonderful celebrations the hangover didn’t like rush hour traffic 🤣
- Ann (6/5): Enjoyed stay dreaded going to bedrooms via staircase. - Paid for good breakfast within complex Main problem was staircase could be dangerous. Being very old building we realise stairs would be steep but steps were different heights.
- Joanne (8/5): Very good -
- Louise (8/5): The cottage - The house is great for a couple of sets of adults and older children who are wanting to stay local after having a party at the bar.
The breakfast was excellent. The stairs are steep and floors are a bit uneven but it is an old property.
- Russell (8/5): Lovely place with everything needed and a great pub next door - Lovely period property, very warm and cosey. Everything you need for a short stay in the area A little tired in places but expected with properties of this age.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Cute spacious cottage - The cottage is really cute and spacious and clean. We also had a great breakfast at the pub next door in the morning. The staff were great there too really helpful. The pub next door is noisy which was not a problem for us as we were in town for a wedding so back late but something to think about if you like to go to bed early. The parking instructions could of been better.
- Anonymous (9/5): Lovely staff, very clean properly, would stay again - Lovely old property with modern characteristics. Was perfect for our family now we have older teens who don’t want to share a room with mum and dad.
- Julie (3/5): Unfortunately, the dirty kitchen let this property down. It had obviously been overlooked by the cleaner. Fridge had cru -
- Martyn (9/5): Great location, food and cottage - Everything we expected and needed from the cottage was there, it accommodated the four of us comfortably and had some old school charm paired with quirky furnishings. The team at Watergate we're all really helpful and friendly. The food was great and it was a nice venue for a drink and bite to eat.
- Maria (8/5): Very good -
- Jacqui (10/5): Great cottage, quirky and cosy - Excellent little cottage with everything you need. Quirky and cosy. 2 doors down from their amazing pub. Great service, the staff can’t do enough for you. We will be back!
- Samantha (8/5): A very comfortable, reasonably priced stay in a truly quirky cottage. Loved it! - It’s convenience to the town and it’s superb quirkiness There was a smell of smoke in the property, even though it was very clean.
- Yasmin (7/5): The building was lovely and decor bathrooms great also - Great location! Beds were a little uncomfortable and there was a fan going off in a nearby building which made it quite noisy to sleep and then bin lorry’s at 5am was quite a rude awakening
- Elaine (9/5): Lovely weekend in cosy cottage, perfect location for town with nearby parking to explore wider area - Brilliant location. Cosy sitting room. Beautiful bathroom. Steep stairs, but I appreciate that it's part of the charm of the property
- Janette (9/5): Superb - Good location. Mattress on first floor could possibly need changing.
This did not effect our stay just a recommendation.
- Eve (8/5): Great! - Cute little cottage attached to the pub, really well equipped with everything you need. We only stayed overnight but would be great for a longer stay.
Staff really friendly and Watergate pub is really nice, courtyard is lovely. Nothing
- Anonymous (8/5): lovely stay - it was quaint. nice decor stairs were a little steep
- Joshua (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Great comfy stay, friendly staff - Great staff, breakfast was great, comfy rooms
- Helen (10/5): Lovely characterful cottage in a great location. - The cottage was cosy, clean and simply but comfortably furnished. The kitchen was well planned out with full size fridge freezer, cooker and enough worktop space, as well as a dining area, and the very large bathroom was bright, clean and well equipped with bath, separate shower cubicle and plenty of towels. Bedrooms were cosy and characterful with comfy beds, and we all had a good night’s sleep. There were some nice little extras too….biscuits, tea and coffee, milk, hand soap and toiletries in bathroom.
The cottage is attached to Watergate Yard, which is a really unique and quirky bar and garden area. Unfortunately it was closed on the evening we stayed but we enjoyed a fantastic breakfast there in the morning with amazing service.
We would definitely return! Nothing, it was all exactly as we’d hoped.
- Farber (10/5): it was beautiful I’d recommend the cottage to other people and I will 100% be coming back here again - it was clean, it had a lot of handmade pieces of furniture like lamps, the beds are comfortable, always trying to accommodate to people, the staff were really nice polite and lovely, I met a really sweet lady called Hayley who literally tried to do everything to make my stay as comfortable and easy as possible, she also helped me book extra days here so my stay was increased was nothing I didn’t like only wish could have stayed longer
- Jenna (7/5): Good - Cute and compact cottage, clean and comfortable. Good communication from the owners. Very loud until late at night due to the bedrooms overlooking the outside bar area next door. No wifi or TV working.
- Jonathan (8/5): Cozy, clean and convenient . Lots of character and good hosts! - Location, quirkiness, cozy and clean . Pub restaurant the Yard nearby a bonus , Wifi nil, bed to soft for us but that’s personal preference .watch the uneven stairs in places , part of its character though!
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Close to amenities and family we were visiting. Independence and privacy
- Ian (10/5): amazing place to stay, highly recommended great breakfast - location and cleanliness nothing
- Anonymous (10/5): we had a great time - full of character
- Laura (9/5): Beautiful cottage with exceptional cleanliness. - The whole cottage was absolutely perfect for us. It was warm, comfortable and absolutely spotless.
The thoughtful little bits really made it memorable.
E.g. the extra towels, cotton buds, cleaning products, fresh flowers and shampoo and conditioner
The only downside was the WiFi as it didn't work after the first day so I had to connect my phone to the TV. But it didn't take long.
I'm sure it will be back up and running again for the next occupants.
Will definitely stay there again as it's in walking distance to my brother's house, whom we were visiting.
Thank you so much for making us feel welcome. The WiFi disconnecting on the second day.
- Rory (8/5): very cosy - Lovely and cosy with a very nice twist. Unfortunately the wifi was down so no t.v at all.
