Facilities ranged from adequate (dining area) to comfy and satisfactory (the room). Bed and pillows very comfy. Aircon a little tired but managed to keep us warm enough Cuisine and food atrocious. Cheese burger and chips was the order. Burger was covered in some gooey mess of a sauce in which bits and pieces of who knows what were visible. So much sauce, the burger could not be managed by hand. Chips covered in artificial flavouring. Two weeks ago same meal was ordered and delicious. Let's get the old chef back!

Waitron promised to organise take away breakfast for us as we were departing earely, and insisted it would be brought to our room before the kitchen closed for the evening. Of course it never arrived. Very disappointing.

- Guest (3/5): - This hotel has changed names many times, and its now so similar to the name of the Barrydale Karoo Art Hotel...that I made the mistake of booking here...its totally unlike the Karoo Art Hotel. Be warned, many others have made this mistake. And received a very unsympathetic response from the manager! The atmosphere was not at all what we would have wanted, we cancelled. The booking is non refundable, so be careful you choose the Barrydale Hotel you would like! The other, Karoo Art Hotel, is a delight in every way possible...

- Maarten (9/5): - Prima hotel met hele goede bedden. Parkeren kan voor de deur of aan de achterkant. Ook 's avonds goed gegeten. Ontbijt was ook prima. Zowel bij het avondeten als bij het ontbijt moesten we relatief lang wachten op ons eten. Geen groot probleem, maar wel iets om rekening mee te houden. Het zwembad hebben we niet gebruikt, maar stel je daar niet teveel van voor, dat is niet meer dan een vierkante plonsbak, echt zwemmen daarin leek ons lastig.

- Marina (9/5): Sehr schönes Boutique Hotel - Wir haben hier auf der Durchreise übernachtet und es war alles vorhanden, was man brauchte. Das Barrydale Karoo Boutique Hotel ist wirklich sehr schön gestaltet, mit tollen Bildern und Accessoires ausgestattet. Im Hof gab es einen kleinen Pool und Sitzgelegenheiten… Dinner und Frühstück waren sehr gut. Parkplatz direkt vor dem Hotel an der Straße. Wir können das Hotel weiterempfehlen… 😊 Der Empfang an der Rezeption war nicht übermäßig freundlich und wir bekamen nicht das Zimmer, welches wir gebucht hatten… Als wir es bemerkten und nachfragten wurde angeboten, das Zimmer zu wechseln… Da wir schon ausgepackt hatten und das Zimmer in Ordnung war, wir auch nur eine Nacht da waren, haben wir den Wechsel abgelehnt. Trotzdem ist es nicht in Ordnung, ein anderes Zimmer als das gebuchte zu bekommen, wenn doch das gebuchte Zimmer frei ist.

Food was pretty terrible. When asked about my meal (ribs) I said the meat was tough. The response was "would you like a sharper knife?" Dining area was very austere with the doors wide open on a cool night.

- Michael (8/5): Schöne kleine Unterkunft mit geschmackvoller Einrichtung. - Die Lage direkt an der R62 ist sehr praktisch. Das Frühstück bestand aus einem kleinem Buffet und die Eiergerichte sowie der Kaffee wurden separat zubereitet und von der Kellnerin an den Tisch gebracht. Die Unterkunft ist allgemein sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und speziell die Betten in den Zimmern sind sehr gemütlich. Wir wurden dort sehr freundlich empfangen und das Personal war immer sehr freundlich. Der Pool hat uns nicht sehr angesprochen, ansonsten aber ein schöner Aufenthalt.

- Stumke (10/5): GREAT STAY! - The check-in super easy and we were welcomed by the friendliest staff. The room and bathroom was spacious and the beds very comfortable. There is a quaint pool with loungers and towels. The on-site restaurant was amazing with the friendliest and helpful staff (Caroline, Chloe, Chalinelle, Ansunette). We watched the Rugby while having drinks from the bar. There is safe parking at the back of the hotel. The brekkie was nice as well.

- Lorita (10/5): - We had a wonderful overnight stay at the hotel. Our room was comfortable and very beautifully decorated. Reception was efficient and friendly. The swimming pool area is really lovely. The pool is small, but perfect to just cool off in. Food at the restaurant was really lovely too. The hotel is centrally situated in Barrydale and from there you can walk around and explore the town. I would definitely recommend it. Leaving to go home.

I loved the stewed fruit and the croissants were divine! I would appreciate additional milk sachets in the rooms for tea and coffee.

The staff were very friendly and attentive, Especially Eugene, the owner, and Chanelle and Rudene It was also exceptionally good value for money. Nothing.

- Paul (9/5): - Welcoming little hotel on the R62, with spacious bedrooms (with super plush beds) set further back, and an onsite restaurant overlooking the coming and goings of village life. Breakfast a relaxed affair with both cold and warm options and good coffee on tap. Friendly staff all round. Barrydale the village has come into its own of late, and one couldn't really ask for a nicer overnight (or two night) stop along the R62. Nothing. All great.
- Bridget (9/5): Fabulous hotel - A lovely hotel, with beautiful artwork and furnishings. Comfortable and spacious room, overlooking the pool. Friendly and helpful staff and meals were tasty. Perfect spot on our road trip to enjoy two nights.

Well decorated and very well managed. When you are well travelled you don't always get accomodation that is clean to perfection... this place is clean, it is smart and the service is top notch. Will definitely return. Well done to Eugene and team!
