- Angela (10/5): Weekend treat - Location was very convenient for our visit. House was clean and welcoming Could do with more crockery in the kitchen. This didn't impact on our stay but had there been more than 2 of us it may have.
- Kim (7/5): Good - Property was clean and warm in good location Carpet on stairs loose which is dangerous. Water didn’t drain from bath and bath panel missing
- Daniel (7/5): Nice and quiet with good parking access but fell short on appropriate number of towels for guests. - Nice location. Parking for two cars, quiet neighborhood. Nice garden. Too few towels for 3 guests. The front door handle will contect to the mirror behind it, seems like accident waiting to happen. Front of the bath seemed to be falling off? Was hard getting hold of people to get initial access.
- Hooli (6/5): it was ok, did the job, but not the best for 6 day stay - location was key for me for the NEC, shame the road into the NEC was closed, so it added 15 mins per morning onto the journey I felt the decoration of the interior was a bit worn and the the bedding and mattress, were more like something you get on a put me up.
Shower was fine, but the water took several hours to drain away, so this left excess soaps and dirt when i got back
Lack of utensils for the oven, no oven gloves and sadly, no wine or prosecco glasses for a relaxing evening after work. just tumblers.
- Wendy (7/5): Lovely property on the whole, if it wasn’t for the maintenance issues we would have scored it very highly, and we would - Quiet location and was perfect for us visiting family in the area also close to local amenities. Nicely decorated, thoughtful layout, and good size property for up to 4 occupants.
Never used the garden but would be lovely in the summer. Felt safe, large drive. Really helpful, friendly neighbour helps look after the property. Towels provided but small so recommend taking your own. Issues with the bath not draining away when having a shower so had to stand in own dirty water. Borrowed plunger off a neighbour and chemicals applied but still didn’t fix issue. Lights on landing were both out, and a broken glass lampshade in the main bedroom and a bulb out. Landing lights fixed during our stay. Bedroom and bathroom still not rectified on leaving. Having to liaise over issues and having maintenance try to fix issues while we’re in the property was not great as we were in the area for a funeral so was really not what we had hoped for. However a reflective compensation was given.
No tea towel or wine glasses, and could do with more plates. cleanliness could be improved in the kitchen.
- Barry (8/5): Very good -
- Anthony (8/5): Convenieny and easy. - Convenient, temporary pied-a-terre Better sited ground floor smoke alarm. Smoke alarm for upstairs landing. Fire Risk Assessment appeared to be for a different property.
- Patrick (1/5): An appalling experience, not to be repeated - The keys were where they said they would be Cold house on arrival. Dirty bedding not changed, broken toilet seat (that had been pointed out by the last reviewer in October) an unfloushed toilet on arrival, grease caked onto grill pan in oven, generally a lack of cleanliness throughout. The inability to get finest retreat to be concerned about me as a paying customer, had to leave on first night because of the state of the house Finest retreat refusing to give a reasonable refund gave us one nights money back felt that was poor and unfair given the facts we told the owner immediately of our concerns. It was not what was advertised, so not what we paid for but not compensated for this, made to feel it was our own fault for booking it. Never again will I book with Finest Retreats
- Jane (10/5): A fabulous house , my parents really enjoyed their short stay in Catherine de Barnes . - My parents were visiting from Spain. They loved the location and walked on a couple of occasions to The Boat for a lovely breakfast . Maybe it would be safer to have a non slip mat in the shower ?? My parents did mention that the toilet was broken too on arrival …. Not sure in what capacity though .
