• Hashim (1/5): Misleading listing with no real privacy and an extremely disappointing experience. - Unfortunately, our stay at this holiday home was extremely disappointing and not as described in the listing. One of the main reasons we booked was for the “private” garden, however this was actually shared with the host, which was never made clear beforehand. We were also very uncomfortable to discover a random internal door in the living room area, and you could clearly hear the hosts behind it, making the property feel anything but private. When we questioned the lack of privacy, the host simply said that them “going out for dinner” was giving us privacy, an absolutely shambolic response. The overall setup did not match what was advertised and we did not feel comfortable staying there. We decided to leave immediately after arriving and explaining our concerns to the host, who seemed completely unbothered by the situation or our reasons for leaving. I would highly advise anyone considering booking this property to check all details very carefully beforehand and ask questions about privacy and layout before committing.

The apartment was spotless, warm and welcoming and very tastefully decorated throughout. Everything you might need in the kitchen area. Spacious lounge looking out on to the garden which you can access. Gorgeous bedroom. Very comfortable super king bed. Fabulous en suite shower room. Ten minute stroll along the canal to town. The hosts were friendly and checked that we were happy and comfortable. Would definitely recommend and we will be returning in the future. Nothing

• Rankine (10/5): Luxury stay close to town. 👍 - Stayed here 4 or 5 times each time we visit Lancaster. Luxurious annexe in a peaceful estate only a 10 min walk along the canal to the town centre. Friendly hosts and even had a Xmas tree up for this stay. Would definitely recommend. Nothing

The bed was unbelievably comfortable and the whole property extremely quiet. Just 15 minutes flat walk to Lancaster city centre. Space to park your car securely on the driveway. Perfect. Best property we have stayed in.

• Sonja (9/5): Superb - Lovely clean place close to town. Excellent in every way 5🌟 1. There needs to be more USB ports especially near the bed. 2. A box of tissues upstairs in the bathroom.... Yes very minor points but this place was 5🌟standard so why not? This is an easy fix
• Jules (10/5): Beautiful accommodation, great location - We had a wonderful one week stay at Gardenia Lodge. Very welcoming and friendly hosts. The accommodation was beautifully decorated and very comfortable, lots of high quality touches including a very welcomed Nespresso coffee machine 😊. All spotlessly clean. We especially loved the huge comfortable bed and the fab shower. It is a shared garden, but with lovely hosts that was never a problem. There is a great seating area just outside the patio door, so relaxing just to sit with a coffee and watch the birds in the lovely garden. The accommodation is set in a beautiful quiet and private area. Two minutes walk from the doorstep is the canal, with lovely walks and plenty to see, wonderful wildlife and canal barges. It is only a short scenic walk along the canal in to Lancaster. Highly recommended, thanks for a great stay! Nothing

• Angela (8/5): Great location in a cute apartment - A lovely little gem of an apartment attached to the owners home in a private road. A short walk to the city along a beautiful canal. Some may not like close proximity to owners home/shared back garden but no problem for us as didn’t use the garden. Seating at front and side of property too. Very comfy bed and the important parts of the property- kitchen & shower very clean.
• Stan (9/5): Comfortable, clean, well-equipped and in a pleasant and quiet location - Very clean, comfortable and well-equipped accommodation in a mature, parklike private estate (look up 'Haverbreaks') about a mile from the city centre. Very comfortable bed. We didn't try cooking a meal from scratch but all the necessary equipment was there if we needed to. Nothing! It would have been useful to be able to use the southern (residents') exit from the estate on to the A588.

Very comfortable super king bed. Spacious bathroom and pleasant living room with garden view. Dianne and Gary are friendly welcoming owners. A bread knife would have been useful and sharp knives need sharpened. Some guests may not like being so very close to the owners.

Nice and quiet at night which is why we booked, to avoid pub/hotel rooms in the centre of Lancaster. Friendly owner. Fantastic communications after booking. We will return. I wasn't going to say this as it didn't spoil our trip. But my only two things which could be improved for next time. 1- The bed (mattress) appeared in need of an upgrade, it was saggy on both sides, at the ends... BUT it wasn't uncomfortable we did sleep on it ok. It just felt uneven. 2- The conditioner (there was shampoo conditioner and body gel unit in the shower) was empty.

The owners kept in contact and although we did not need to contact them with any issues, we felt comforted that we could easily get in touch should we need to.

There was milk in the fridge and teabags etc for making a hot drink. The directions were clear and it was reassuring to know that the key was accessible at any hour.

The location is stunning, with a picturesque canal right outside, perfect for peaceful morning walks. Dianne is a lovely host, and the bathroom was pristine. The serene environment made our stay incredibly relaxing. We would definitely come back! Nothing negative
