• Vinamra (1/5): Pathetic service n host. Please avoid - Only the location was good rest all was Pathetic. As most of the basic things which was promised for which I booked appartment in place of hotel were missing or not working. Hot water was stinky, floor was greasy n sticky, washing machine didn't work, fridge was broken, utensils n kettle was dirty. Over and above the host was just not reachable on call or email. Was only responding on WhatsApp saying they told maintance team about the issue and that is what they can do. I was frustrated and chasing the host throughout my stay but no solution was given till last day.

• Matt (1/5): Disgusting and grubby throughout. The mattress, duvet and pillows reek of stail body odour - Good location, is the only good thing I can say about this disgusting place. The bed mattress, pillows and duvet all smell of stail body odour, the duvet cover doesn’t fit and when you look at the duvet itself, it is deeply unpleasant. The whole apartment is very grubby; the walls and skirting boards are battered, filthy and very heavily marked. The toilet has more deeply unpleasant stains, the shower is full of mould and broken plastic, with some kind of unidentified slime running down the tiles. I opened the dishwasher only to find a load of dirty dished in there, the smell was horrendous, no dish washer tablets, so I put it on a cycle anyway to try and get rid of the smell. The plates, cutlery etc is not good and sadly in-line with the rest of the apartment. There was contact details on the wall, the e-mail bounced and no answer from both the mobile number and land line. I sent my complaint to info@ which got through, but no reply
• Erere (1/5): Don’t book. They know they don’t have running hot water, but will decieve you that they are not aware. - Location was great No running hot water. Even after constant complaints, nothing was done for the 7 nights we were there.The washing machine not working too.
• Andre (1/5): - The views across Birmingham city were lovely and the location was perfect, right in the centre which made it very convenient for getting around. Unfortunately, there were several issues during the stay. There was no hot water for the entire 3 days, which was very inconvenient. The washing machine was not working, and it was extremely difficult to get in contact with the host it felt almost impossible to reach them after check-in. The cleanliness was also below standard, with dirty walls, stains on the sheets, pillowcases, and even the mattress. There was also a lack of basic essentials such as towels and no proper cutlery available for cooking or eating.

Scam !! - I don’t even know where to start , don’t book this place it’s a scam and the staff are disgusting to clients , booked this with my young baby and told them before hand please make sure it’s clean , no one cleaned from the last people gone off food left around and mold ,No bed sheets , no Plates , cutlery no towels just a mattress and a dirty apartment, when calling the staff it was a number which didn’t ring and they refused to come and clean when we finally found a number on the website and refused a refund .Also not child friendly balloons from smarten everywhere and toilet paper covered with ash in the vents Everything

• Adrien (1/5): MAKE SURE YOU GUYS NEVER BOOK! Absolutely horrible place and customer service - NEVER BOOK! Absolutely nothing i like it was disgusting wasn’t cleaned at all from previous guests there was rubbish everywhere the bed has been used and stains on it a razor in the bathroom with hairs and they refused to sort out cleaning services on check in or even the 2nd day! I had to book a separate hotel for my stay for the weekend. Customer service is a joke as well you will never be able to contact the property manager only some random guy in liverpool who is absolutely useless! Apparently all of the staff werent answering for my stay and all he said i can do is cancel or wait till cleaning staff come the next day which no cleaning staff came at all. NEVER BOOK! Didn’t been cleaned at all from previous guests, the customer service is a joke you have a better chance of winning the lottery than finding someone who can help you. Had to book a separate hotel for my stay as i was led on by a useless member of staff saying cleaning services will come the next day and they didnt.

• Owais (7/5): Nice apartment for 2 people. - It was very big and perfect for 1 or 2 people staying for a night or 2. Had most of the essentials that you needed for a good stay. There was no hot water for the 2 days i stayed. No contact via phone but messaged to be advised someone will be in touch but no one did the 2 days i stayed. The sink was leaking water and the microwave didn't work.

The hosts moved me to another apartment for the last night of my stay and I was promised that the supervisor would contact me regarding compensation. However, the hosts simply stopped responding to my messages. They have two phone numbers, but neither of them work, and they refused to call me when I explained that this was the case!

This lace was disgusting, all the walls in every room is covered in dirt bathroom wall had makeup on toilet was dirty and shower was mouldy clearly hadn’t been cleaned at all!! Microwave was gross! No hot water all weekend neither of us could shower all weekend kitchen tap was broken and leaking! And the communication with the host is shocking to say the least!! Everything Wouldn’t definitely not recommend

• Makarim (1/5): Will not book again - Checked in at 7pm, the room wasn’t cleaned from previous guests, towels only available for 1 person rather than 2. Facing night clubs therefore very noisy. Not well ventilated, apartment was stuffy.

• Chloe (1/5): Horrible experience - We did not even get chance to see the actual property after a very unprofessional experience from the company. We booked this apartment for a concert. We arrived in Birmingham for 3pm check in time and went to collect keys as advised by property to be informed the keys were not there to collect. We contact the lady at the property who advised she will need to contact the cleaner as they may still have the keys and she would call us back. I did not receive a call back so I contacted them again with no answer. We were then advised via the app to go to the apartments and the keys would be in 112 letterbox. The letterbox was locked and we were told to put our hands in the retrieve them. This was not safe. We contacted the property again to be told to go check the room as the door maybe unlocked and keys inside. Again not safe. We were runner ragged when the keys should have been in the place we were told they were. We advised we wanted a refund as this was not the best experience. Can you please support in this. I have tried to cancel and waiver the fee and get a refund with no reply. Thank you

• Frances (3/5): Disappointing and inconvenient. - Well presented. Bathroom tiles had lots of hair on them from previous visitor. Bedroom carpet not been cleaned properly. I was in B’ham for work, and the noise from the nightclubs in B-road Street kept me awake til after midnight. If you were using this for a party trip it might be ok - but not when you have work the next day. The Wi-Fi didn’t work on arrival and wasn’t being fixed until the next day.

• Donna (7/5): There was more good than bad and it didn’t affect the fun I had planned . - I liked that it’s modern and bright. Looks just like how it does in the picture. Even the smashed window was in the picture but I didn’t realise! Haha ! Its close to the centre. Nice comfy bed ,heater nice in bedroom. The man who I spoken to on the phone about the pots not working seemed really friendly and also the man in the reception area was welcoming. :-) There was a window that was shattered and it brought in a draft. The sofa was in front on the heater so got no heat in the living area. There were half used shower gels and facilities.I didn’t know if it was for us or left over from someone else.

Easy key pick up and drop off. Cosy and comfortable with good amenities. No hot water for 3 days, dishwasher leaked and kitchen tap very unstable and no cloth to dry washing up. Non-existent response to messages about arrival logistics.

• Gabriela (5/5): Check with the host if the issues were sorted before booking. - The apartment was very clean and cosy. Very close to the city centre. Good WiFi signal and very comfortable bed. First and foremost 1. The apartment is located at level 17 and there is a safety problem there. One of the windows)floor to ceiling window) is shattered in pieces. It is hold in place by a plastic foil that started to peal off. 2. No hot water throughout my stay (4 days). The problem was escalated with the Empire company. I had to make several calls to them to ask them to mend the hot water issue. Initially I was told that there is a building issue and the manager of the building is in the apartment mending the problem.Eventually after 5-6 phone calls I was told that the issue was sorted and I have hot water. What a nightmare lie. Not hot water at all. Other colleagues of mine were accommodated in the same building and they had hot water all the time. 3. In spite of being mentioned on the booking conformation that the company can be contacted even out of hours, nobody answered the phone. Both first and second issues were escalated this time to Booking.com customer service. They were very helpful and offer me money compensation for my distress.

• Anhelina (6/5): Good looking but a lot of "but"s - I spent here 5 days as the only 1 person. The appartment was very big, bright with a lot of sun, large windows and modern looking. And the view is breathtaking. All looked like in the photos. But (see below). Also, having washing machine and dishwasher are really cool to have, as well as an oven and cookstove. But (see below). All this should help you live autonomously. Also there is a TV with Netflix etc (I haven't used, but the idea is great). And having two zones - sleeping and living is also great. There was a possibility to work, but only at the kitchen table. Also it is located in the very center and it was super easy to get to every needed place by foot including business centers, trading centers, restaurants and all railway stations. The Sailsbury supermarket is very near. Also check in/out was very easy. Please note, the 'dislike' things further above are rather personal importance, so I think it you should decide yourself. Well. Bed. The first and main item. I could live with everything else, but this was really not good. The bed. It was impossible to lay on. The mattress was that bad, that I felt every single construction part wth my body. I felt too tired the first night, so I just fall asleep and the next day my left side felt like somebody was beating me all night. So then I just was seeping at the sofa in the living room. And the idea of living/sleeping zones went out. The sofa is not for extention, so was exactly enough for my 160cm height, but not a cm above. Location/sounds. As mentioned, located super centered, so easy to get to every place. However, it is exactly above the big night club. And Fri-Sun sounds never stop till the morning and closed windows don't help. I got used to that kind of sounds, but for most of people it would be just impossible to sleep or just relax. Also some machine within the pantry made a very naughty sound also not helping to relax. Cleaning. The floor was full in dust. There were no slippers, so I had separate 'home' socks becoming dirty every way across the room. I also haven't felt in a full safety in a bathroom, there was some hair. Kitchen. I'm glad I could wash my clothes, but there was no washing powder. No salt, oil etc. So yes, I could cook, but should buy a lot a things to throw away after checkinh out . So... Theoretically you can cook/wash, but don't have final ingredients. Also my personal issue, but I found the right socket switchers only the last day, so I couldn't turn the oven/cookstove on. Note, it is in the very right wall. Nevertheless, I just handled it with microven, so okaaay. But anyway, I chose that appartment to use the kitchen fully. Windows. Cold in the morning, hot during the day - sun is merciless. One window was broken, but kept together. Overall, if changing the mattress, cleaning the floor and adding some staff like salt, it could be a great place for me.

• Andrew (1/5): Extremely poor customer service from Empire!! Would not stay again. - Not prepared to say until Empire respond to my queries - Customer service a real let down!! Customer service is appalling, that alone has changed what was a stay in a nice standard of apartment into a nightmare!! I have rated my experience accordingly - BAD. Empire seem unable or unwilling to provide a receipt/invoice for my stay and are unwilling to deal with my query reasonably.
• Jon (4/5): Potentially a great place to stay - Location great for city centre and cricket. Flat is clean and had everything you need The most uncomfortable bed. You can feel the springs everywhere on your body. Needs a new mattress. Shattered window is quite scary on the 17th floor. Beware of the noise as it's next to quite a few very late bars and clubs. I had the choice of not sleeping because of the clubs with the windows open or because of the heat with the windows closed. No air con but an extremely noisy fan.
• Joana (5/5): horrible - It was clean & beautiful decorated To start, we got the address with the apartment number per Whatsapp but never the floor number (17). entering the apartment, we spotted a big broken window, in my opinion it’s not safe at all to rent this place. When the night came and we laid down in bed, we could feel all of the mattress springs. not comfortable at all… Well passing to the noise cancellation that they tell you in their description about. there isn’t any. even though the apartment is on the 17th floor. we could hear everyone yelling, talking in the street. the music, the cars, buses etc honking like they were next to our bed and that until 4/5 in the morning… The customer service wasn’t good at all. Just for your precautions, if you want to book this apartment (that in my opinion don’t do it, unless you want to spend some money on recovery back massages), if you have any questions or need something from them, contact them with 2 days of advance. That’s the time they need to answer your question.

Well presented clean and modern apartment in a great location with lots of to do in the area and only a short walk to city centre. Mattress could do with being replaced as the springs can be felt through the mattress. When returning the keys at the end of my stay I had to wait around until 8.30 before the shop keeper arrived even though the store stated it openes at 7.00 delaying me getting to work.

• Michelle (8/5): overall a great location - lovely apartment ,great location for the ICC and bars and restaurants,apartment was lovely and warm and had a great view of the city. no hairdryer although there should have been.Not ideal with someone with long hair particularly as i was going to a party on the Saturday night i messaged but there was no resolution. no mirrors in the property apart from the bathroom again not good for doing your hair,either drying or styling with straighteners or curling wand or checking your appearance (long mirror)

STAY CLEAR - next question flat on the 17th floor and no working lifts one shattered living room window dirt and be rid under bed including a new spliff no hot water available at all we were forced to cut our weekend stay and return home we raised the issue with the owners asking for refund which is still on going

• Valeria (9/5): Good value for money if you’re staying a few nights in Birmingham - The property is finished to high standards. It’s big and everything worked perfectly. It has everything we needed to cook for ourselves. Very well light and central location. Strong Wifi signal. The only thing that was of poor quality was the mattress. I could feel the coils, which was very annoying. It needed replacement.

• Chibuzo (8/5): Very good self-catering apartment - Spacious accommodation with restaurants close by. Great facilities for a self-catering apartment. Nice sitting area with kitchenette and washing machine. The property didn’t inform me that keys are kept and returned to a different property a few streets away until after booking. The room could have been cleaned better. The room didn’t have a TV (only the sitting room had). A shared dryer would have been nice.
• Farhad (9/5): Great spacious apartment in a great location - Location is amazing, floor was amazing, great apartment, I loved it! The far left window in the main room was cracked which felt a little unsafe, and the window on the far right did not open fully, other than that everything was perfect.
