- Kain (1/5): The private rooms are extremely over priced for what they are - It was close to the giant ibis bus station and where the nice bars and restaurants are I paid $74 for 2 rooms for 2 nights in rooms that should’ve been $10 each max. Uncomfortable beds with tiny little bathrooms that were uncomfortable to shower in due to the size. Also my room shared a wall with the communal toilet for the dorms so the toilet was flushing during the night and the walls were very thin so I could hear it clearly. I wouldn’t mind any of this if the rooms weren’t so expensive!!!
- Eva (8/5): - Le staff est très accueillant J’ai pu louer un scooter et le proprio m’a partagé une map avec tout ce qu’il y a à visiter autour de la ville mais aussi au Cambodge en général Il y avait un trou dans le sommier du matelas donc je tombais dedans toute la nuit c’était pas du tout confortable. Il n’y a qu’une seule douche et deux toilettes

- Alessia (8/5): - Ostello carino, con camera molto ampia dotata di balcone e letto comodo. Il rooftop mi è piaciuto molto, il menù è vasto e la playlist in sottofondo è sempre piacevole. Il personale è affabile e sorridente. C'è addirittura un negozietto ben fornito di abiti vintage e di seconda mano all'ingresso, non mi era mai capitato prima!

They gave us no bed sheets (to be fair we didn't ask). The outlets near the bed don't work. The air conditioning doesn't work.

- Laura (10/5): - Besitzer war sehr engagiert und hilfreich. Die Dachterrasse ist ein angenehmer Aufenthaltsort, vor allem am Abend für ein Getränk. Das Hotel bietet Touren an, und hilft bei der Organisation der Weiterreise. Unser Zimmer war ordentlich und bequem, einige Zimmer werden sogar aktuell renoviert. Kartenzahlung ohne Aufpreis möglich. Das Hotel organisiert eine kostenlose Abholung am Bus Terminal. Das Essen im Restaurant war stark westlich ausgerichtet, daher etwas langweilig. Außerhalb des Hotels gab es deutlich bessere lokale Küche.

- Charlotte (8/5): Ideal location and great pick if you want to support small local family run businesses who are constantly improving faci - I Loved the staff and the boss was always busy working on improving facilities everyday I stayed. He had great English and sense of humour, and you could see how passionate he was of his business. I did the tour provided and luckily met a lovely group of people also staying at the hostel, we had a great day and even went to a pub quiz recommended by the boss after the tour at another hostel. I also didn’t realise there was free shuttle service from Bus terminals which was a nice surprise, so make sure you let the hostel know if you are arriving by bus to get this service. Rooftop bar is really cute, it can get super hot in the day but was great to chill there of an evening once it cooled down. I also had a few meals and they were all really nice if you want a convenient meal, great for when it gets a bit too hot for exploring in the day. I am unsure how many beds in dorms there are but there aren’t a lot of shared bathrooms for when it gets busy in the hostel which might not be ideal for those in dorms. My private bathroom was really small and also not really fully closed off from the room, so maybe not ideal for people sharing a private room who want a bit of privacy on the toilet 😅 I spoke to owner who said he was working through all the private rooms and freshly redecorating them frequently and adding more bits of furnishings and electrics when he can which is great to see. I think main issue is bathrooms (both shared and private) otherwise I have faith that a big refurb which is already ongoing will really improve the place. I have stayed in worse places for more money, and it makes a difference when I can see that they are really open to suggestions and working hard to improve all the time. I overall enjoyed my stay, and am rooting for this business to have success in future.

- Romane (1/5): Horrible. - Rien. Le patron est arrivé bourré à 23h. Le lieu se trouve dans un local à scooter et une sorte de friperie. Il y’avait des souris qui couraient la nuit, la clim fait un bruit horrible la nuit, il y avait des punaises de lits dans nos lits et la salle de bain était sale !

- Connie (2/5): Probably best to find somewhere else to stay - The only positive things about the stay were the rooftop bar and the location. Turned up to a very confused man on reception who seemed like he didn’t even work there. We were shown to our dorms which were significantly less glamorous than what was shown in the pictures (I suppose it explains the cheap pricing). Dorm rooms had an aircon unit that didn’t work and smelt a lot like feet. Moved to a private room and was sent to room D. After trying to get in and almost breaking down the door for some time we went to reception who did the same thing. It was only then that the receptionist burst into laughter and said ‘oops I think someone is already staying in this room’. - so sorry to whoever was in there. Was given another room which was moderately better than the dorms regardless of the trail of ants along the entirety of the floor and the smell of mouldy aircon. Our towels had holes in them and more worryingly the door could be bolted from the outside!!! Fire risk maybe???? The doors were locked on a bolt and padlock system and the bolt on the outside of the room is different to the one on the inside. Now in most hostels I’ve stayed in, this wouldn’t worry me, but the prison like vibe of this particular stay led me and my friend to feel a little unsettled about this. Luckily we had an extra padlock so we were able to padlock the door open on the outside and lock ourselves in from the bolt on the inside. Only positive was a good location and the rooftop bar which was very quiet but clean at least. Totally understand that you get what you pay for but this was horrendous. Safe to say I cut my trip short.
- Hannah (2/5): Disgusting, strongly advise not staying here. - Unfortunately I didn’t like anything. The rooftop was ok, except it smelled The place is filthy!! Expected to walk around the property in your bare feet and the floors are so dirty. My private room was disgusting, marks on the bedsheets, spider webs full of insects, thick layers of dust under the bed, towels smelling of body odour, shower not working at all, rubbish under the bed from previous guests and room smelled of mould. This property is full of false advertisement including ‘terrace’ in the private rooms, there is no air con in the dorms (2 of my friends staying there and had to pay extra and move to private room for air con. Man at reception is very abrupt and rude, with his ‘English not being good whenever challenged on false advertisement’ but perfectly fine when discussing money and paying extra at the hostel- including having to pay to fill your water bottle with warm water. Did not feel very safe at all. I have stayed in hostels around the world, including some in Europe, and this is the worst ever 100%. I would strongly advise not staying here. Absolutely disgusting.

- Ankush (4/5): I would choose something else I go next time - It was in the city centre, and the tours they arrange. Although it was cheap, but the place was really dirty, the washrooms were not cleaned. There was no fan inside the room and if the aircon is turned off its kind of suffocating. I guess only request i would do is please maintain and clean the place as you ask people to leave the shoes outside. Also one more thing they have there whatsapp number online but they don't respond.

- Anth (6/5): Basic Accommodation - Decent Location in town. Big room. Comfy bed. Roof top was nice enough. Owner helped with scooter rental We had a private room. It Wasn’t clean. Floor felt dreadful. The bathroom is ridiculously small to the point you stand over the toilet pretty much when showering. The bathroom had a weird big step up-to it. Also the bathroom had no ceiling or light. So if you needed to use the toilet during the night you had to switch on the main light in the room to see in the bathroom which would wake my wife up. Also not very private noise wise when using the toilet with out a ceiling . The shower leaked badly into the bedroom and flooded the floor. Not good.

So kind - I had an issue with my bus and he took me to the bus station free of charge to help me sort it and everyone has been so hospitable whilst I’ve been here. Что это такое - отбойной молоток и резка по металлу на этаже выше начались ещё до 9 утра. - Laura Louise (7/5): Hostel correct pour le prix. - Le gérant est super sympa. Le tour de Battambang était super. Le rooftop est sympa et la nourriture ok. Emplacement super. Concernant la chambre privée, nous avons eu froid pendant la nuit et le drap de couverture était trop petit pour 2 personnes. La salle de bain aurait pu être plus propre. A savoir que l’isolation est inexistante et que l’on entend absolument tout ce qu’il se passait dans la salle de bain commune.

- Harriet (7/5): Well located hostel in Battambang - The hostel is well located within Battambang and offer tours and a family dinner which is a nice social aspect. The beds were also comfortable and the private rooms were spacious. However our private room didn’t feel very clean as the floors were filthy. The drains in the bathroom also has a funny smell. It was fine for a one night stay!

- Audray (9/5): Merci au gérant et à sa femme pour sa bonne nourriture - Bien pour une nuit. Je suis arrivé tôt et le gérant m’a laissé prendre une douche et j’ai réservé une activité avec eux! Merci encore !! L’activité est top pour visiter la ville en 1 journée. Les dîners famille sont une excellente idée ! Tout est très bon et une variété de plat incroyable ! Le gérant fait tout pour améliorer cette hostel et il essaie de faire au mieux pour que l’on passe un excellent séjour. Serviette de bain à disposition / grand dortoir assez confortable. Je recommande fortement le rooftop pour sa nourriture. Proximité du marché Attention à la propreté…

- Amy (1/5): Needs a lot of work - The owner seemed really friendly and the hostel is in a great location. We were booked into a private room for 2 nights but had to leave after 1 night and find somewhere else. Unfortunately the room was extremely unclean. There were clumps of hair from previous guests on the floor. There were ants and other insects coming in from the gaps around the doors and windows. The bathroom drain didn’t work so even running the taps to brush our teeth meant water was all over the floor and it also brought up old tissue and hair from the drain. I know this hostel is quite new but unfortunately I just don’t think the rooms are ready to be stayed in just yet, or at least the rooms we stayed in.

- Torsten (4/5): Better look elsewhere ! - A place to sleep for 1 night max. Avoid central Battambang at all cost! It's a snake pit of dust and noise, with plenty of construction all around.
- Camille (4/5): - J'ai dormi juste une nuit dans cette auberge, car The Place était complet, le personnel est très sympa, le rooftop est cool Mais par contre l'auberge est pas très bien entretenue, sol en béton, peinture ancienne, salles d'eau petites J'avais pris un lit en dortoir, je me suis retrouvée dans une chambre fermée uniquement le haut des murs ouverts (avec la serviette violette) dans un dortoir (rouge) avec juste un lit superposé avec un mec qui dormait au dessus, assez étrange comme situation, nous étions tous les 2 surpris Et l'hôstel est en train de faire un autre dortoir au 2 ème étage, ils ont commencé les travaux à 8h30 mais vraiment ce n'était pas des petits travaux.... J'ai exprimé ma déception à l'accueil, la réaction n'a pas été directe mais ils ont été commerçants et m'ont offert un dîner et un goûter avec boisson, ce que j'ai apprécié Je laisse toutefois ma note basse car je n'aurai jamais pris cet Hostel si j'avais eu connaissance des travaux Mes amies étaient à The place, malheureusement complet, je n'ai pas eu de place, pour le même prix la qualité est largement supérieure ! Je vous recommande

- Maeva (6/5): - Le lit avec lumière individuellle, petite étagère et rideau Le rooftop La localisation L’excursion journée complète était ok Les sanitaires en trop petit nombre (deux douches et trois toilettes pour l’ensemble de l’établissement) et pas super propres. Les « petits » dortoirs de 4 sont en réalité situés dans le même espace, créant ainsi un dortoir d’une vingtaine de lits. La nourriture insipide

- Cyril (10/5): - Un lieu agréable en plein centre ville, proche du marché. Avec un Rooftop parfait pour rencontrer du monde et manger le soir. La cuisine était très bonne. Et je ne parle pas du responsable, qui est au four et au moulin toute la journée. Beaucoup de respect pour cette personne. Il y a rien que je n’ai pas aimé, mais un petit bémol sur les sanitaires, un peu petit.

- Madeline (8/5): Good location, clean with friendly staff - Staff were so friendly and helped with everything even when the power went of he went out his way and still made us food. Free pickup from our bus drop was excellent. Room was large and clean! Room looked a tad like a prison however it was clean and had all the amenities needed :)

Є безкоштовна питна вода Власник привітний, має багато додаткових речей, як то барну стійку, сніданки, екскурсії, прокат скутерів та велосипедів, але водночас не навязливий - ти без будь якого тиску сам обираєш чи взяти ще щось в хостелі чи де інде. Можна розрахуватись банківською карткою.
- mazzini (9/5): Séjour très agréable - Chambre spacieuse avec douche privé, le gérant et sa famille on été très accueillant avec nous ce qui a rendu le séjour très agréable !

L'hôtel propose plusieurs options pour visiter la ville (matinée, journée complète, étalé sur plusieurs jours) ainsi que des promos (plus on est de participants, moins c'est cher). Le marché est juste à côté de l'hôtel donc pratique pour goûter plein de choses

Pero eso no es todo, la comida casera que hace la señora de la casa es exquisita, y además la atención y amabilidad del dueño te harán sentir como en tu casa! También tienen motocicletas para rentar a muy buen precio y te ayudan a organizar tu viaje al mejor precio The hostel is new and very comfortable. But that's not all: the homemade food prepared by the lady of the house is exquisite, and the owner's kindness and attention will make you feel right at home! They also have motorcycles for rent at very reasonable prices and can help you organize your trip at the best price. All good
- Sophie (7/5): Gérant adorable et à l’écoute ! - Le gérant est adorable, très à l’écoute. Il nous a beaucoup aidé à décider ce qu’on voulait faire à Battambang. Il nous a même envoyé une liste Google Map des points d’intérêt aux alentours. On a pu réserver le transport pour notre prochaine destination avec lui à un très bon prix. L’emplacement de l’établissement est super, proche du marché. Il y a un rooftop très mignon ! Le gérant a changé d’emplacement il y a peu, donc ils sont encore en déménagement, c’est pourquoi les installations n’étaient pas encore complètement terminées.
- Priscilla (7/5): Chouette endroit - Hébergement très bien situé. Personnel amical. Possibilité de réserver des excursions. Vie de quartier très chouette. Il faisait trop chaud dans la chambre malgré le fait que durant mon séjour j'etais seule dans celle-ci et qu'il y avait un ventilateur.

- Deirdre (8/5): - There was a family dinner on every evening. Small hostel but very central and close to other hostels Because it’s a small hostel they do group tours but they don’t run very day. I did one at another larger one and it was great tho. Not the most secure hostel. There’s no keys and you can just walk off the street and access the hostel which is a plus or negative depending on how you view it

- Tiana (10/5): Exceptional - Very social. Comfortable beds. The host was lovely and organised family-style dinners and tours at reasonable and transparent prices. Overall, a great stay!
- Jamesfdm (10/5): Exceptional - Great facilities, everything very clean. Staff is very friendly and you have the opportunity to socialise anytime or either go to the rooftop where it is usually nice and quiet to relax. 100% best choice in town, thanks!
- Joe (10/5): Excellent - Great hostel run by a lovely family. The hosts are really kind, helpful and welcoming. A towel is provided and the food is varied, really tasty and very affordable. I really enjoyed my stay! Would recommend! Everything was great.
- Vignesh (8/5): Good cheap place to stay at in Battambang - You get very good value for your money here at Social Backpacker Hostel. The bathrooms are clean and they help you with guided tours and transportation via buses to neighbouring cities. They also provide scooters for rent which is really helpful. The mini pool table is fun to play with. They charge a small amount for drinking water which I found a little weird.
- Benny (10/5): Great value for money - Friendly family hosting. They even helped me to sort out my laptop that I forgot in the bus. It was low season and there weren’t much people
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - It’s a small family business and they would do everything to make your stay even better. You can ask everything and they are always in for a conversation. We arrived at 7 am and it was possible to go in the room, even if the check in time was 2 pm. They still can improve some things and grow, but they are just starting so it has big potential with all the love they put in the hostel!
