Guest Reviews
- JENNIFER (7/5): Dirty apartment - good location - The location was spot on for what we required however this was one of the reasons we picked this property. The apartment was dirty. The cleaner didn't clean any glasses or mugs from the previous occupier - dried coffee stains that could be washed off. Drain in the shower was full of hair and slime which meant the water wouldn't drain away properly. The floors were not swept or mopped and there was a smell from the previous occupier lingering - little bit of airfresh would have made the biggest of difference.
- James (9/5): - Perfect location. Everything was fine.
- Glenda (8/5): - Easy walk to everything. Very quiet. Shower could do with a grab rails, or at least a non slip mat.
- Phillipa (8/5): Good location - The location was great. It had all facilities we needed for our short stay The outside doesn’t look so good.
- Clive (10/5): -
- Jamie (10/5): - When first booking, the information given went a little wrong, I messaged the number provided and Su reassured all was OK and enough room for us all.
Close to all things we wanted to do with the York pass. Great location to walk everywhere with 2 kids at 6 and 4, they had freeview we could set up them to watch tv whilst sorting breakfast.
Fantastic little touches with providing tea towels, bin bags, coffee, milk, sugar, soaps, washing liquid that we had brought ourselves but glad to see were provided too. The parking was expensive for the closest multi storey car park but great to have somewhere a stone throw away
- Anna (10/5): - Elhelyezkedés. Közel a vasútállomás és a városközpont is 15-20 perc séta.
- Anne (10/5): A short family break in York - Couldn't have asked for a better stay. The apartment was beautiful and smelled clean on entry with everything that you would need for a stay there AND the location was fabulous!! Contact was maintained with hosts the whole time too. Would highly recommend. Can't really think of anything. If I was to be very picky, I would say perhaps a tidy of the area outside the bedroom window BUT The whole experience and the reat of the apartment, more than made up for that 😀
- Sharon (8/5): Ideal location and comfortable rooms. - Location was great. Lovely rooms.
Goodies in fridge was nice. The property was not very clean.
Esp the door in the back bed room.
- Paula (8/5): -
- van den Driesche (10/5): - Such a great location for visiting York!
- Nathan (8/5): We enjoyed our stay. Apartment was comfortable and homely. -
- Claire (8/5): -
- Jillian (10/5): Looking forward to returning next year -
- Alwyn (9/5): Welcoming, clean, everything provided - Good location
- Maureen (7/5): Excellent location, good facilities. - Absolute amazing location, very central, near shops, transport, pubs and bars. Heating in every room was excellent, could be turned down. No sink plug, freezer compartment of fridge frozen solid, no washing up cloth in kitchen. Mis matched plates etc. Shower was a challenge, sometimes water was cold. Washing machine would not work, husband fixed it I think, agent was prompt with attention to issue.
- Tom (10/5): -
- martyn (8/5): -
- Sarah (9/5): Fantastic location, comfortable. - Location of the properly is fantastic
- Kathleen (9/5): Nice quiet property but take your own pillows if you dont want to sleep on a slab - Flat was perfect for a few nights stay in York, it was perfectly located 5 minutes walk from the centre, set in a quiet location.
The beds were very comfy and the rooms a good size, all the facilities we needed for our stay. Cleanliness was a little lacking with thick dust on the lounge mirror and a big cobweb in the bathroom.
Bathroom needs a lock on the door, I visited with my daughter, son in law and his brother so we had to make a rule if the door is shut the bathroom is in use.
The pillows are rock hard.
Needs a lick.of paint and wallpaper sticking down but I understood if its constantly booked that's hard to do.
- Kevin (4/5): Disappointed with condition flat was in - Property wants a good overhaul. Complete redecoration.
- Mary Lou (8/5): I loved the place and the location was great. - Cobwebs need to be cleared from around frount door and in kitchen cubard.
The bedroom window needs cleaning on inside.
the shower needs shampoo.
- Alf Gunnar (8/5): - Flott beliggenhet, rent og pent! Kunne vært bedre utstyrt på kjøkkenet. Var ikke fire like glass etc.
- Doreen (7/5): It was a pleasant stay. - Location: Nice apartment. Comfortable beds. Convenient to train and historical sites. Hostess was helpful, as we needed to drop of our bags an hour earlier than recorded check-in. It could have been cleaner. Carpeting should be removed. Towels cleaner. Front combination lock was hard to work with, because of small numbers, location (too low) and lighting, perhaps an electornic door code would work better.
- SANJEEV (10/5): Excellent in everything including the host - Every small detail was looked into and provided. Nothing
- Peter (5/5): - Great location close to bars & restaurants Not enough glasses for 4 adult guests; only 2 wine, 1 beer glass
Toilet seat loose
Dining chair wobbly, missing fixing screws?
Could be cleaner, floor and window frames dirty
- Julie (10/5): Excellent place to stay in York - Apartment was clean & had everything we needed. Nothing
- claire (10/5): Excellent - Excellent location, clean. Well looked after.
The little garden area was lovely to relax out of the sun.
Neighbours were very friendly and lovely.
Would definitely recommend There was nothing not to like
- William (10/5): -
- Kaye (6/5): Great location, was fine for the short stay we had. - Location Bit shabby outside, windows in very poor condition. Very warm but fan was good, probably could do with more fans for bedrooms. Water pressure not great.
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional - The location was ideal for our family stay. There was a car park literally at the end of the road. It was a secure gated entrance to the flat area off the street, which was quiet despite its proximity to the centre.
Communication with the owner was excellent, very friendly, and informative.
The flat was spacious and beautifully decorated with ample space for our family of 4.
The bedrooms were big with areas to unpack, and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen area was well equipped, and the owner even left some everyday supplies that were greatly appreciated.
We don't have a negative word to say about the property, location or communication with the owner. We've had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend it and stay again.
Thank you
- Greider (4/5): While conveniently located for using the train for transportation, we would not be repeat guests. - Great location - near to train station and out of the hustle & bustle of the busy streets. The instructions to get into the apartment were clear and easy to follow. The hostess was responsive when we had an issue. The area was quiet at night for sleeping without disturbance. Cleanliness was an issue. The floors were so dirty that I had to throw away my slippers after the stay was completed. There were food crumbs on the floors and spiders in the cupboards and even in the shower itself. I felt I had to hand wash each dish prior to use. The front green gate was not secure even though a code was provided for entry. At times, we found the gate hanging open and anyone could have entered. A code was not needed.
- Debbie (7/5): Nice overall - Central Not very clean, damp in wall in bedroom
- Karan (6/5): York - Easy to find and close to town Towels had black marks on
- Jackie (6/5): It was adequate for our purposes - Location Cleanliness not up to standard
- Katherine (10/5): very nice. - the apartment was clean and welcoming. very nicely presented. nothing
- Carolyn (8/5): Very good - Location right in the heart of the city only down side is if you drive the car park is a eye watering 26 pound a day but it is right next door to the apartment in the description it said you could park on the road in the night to save money good luck with finding anywhere 3 of us stayed 4 night only left one roll of toilet paper for us
- Heather (9/5): We had a lovely time and would happily return. - I received a text a couple of hours before the allotted time to access the apartment, which was really handy and appreciated as we could offload our bags and enjoy a coffee before going out to explore. We were given really good directions on how to find the flat as it's tucked away a little bit, this is a good thing as its really nice and quiet.
Talking of coffee, there was a coffee machine with pods, which I enjoyed along with the pressecco left for us in the fridge to enjoy. there were a few other things in the kitchen which were handy too ( last thing you want to do is go shopping for stuff when you're only there for a couple of days) cofffee, tea, condiments washing up liquid ect.
There's a large television in the living room with access to netflix.
The bed was so comfortable, I drifted straight to sleep. Lots of throws/blankets to cosy up with in the living room too.
Nice shower, good size, worked well. Heated towel rail kept it warm in there. nice towels.
Good location 5 - 10 minute walk into town. It was quite chilly when we first arrived, took a little while to warm up. There are several electric heaters though.
Don't know whether double glazing is an option - might help.
there is a little step leading into the kitchen, even though it's clearly marked with a caution sticker I still managed to trip a couple of times!
It's nicely decorated, but there is a lot of glass furniture which might not be great if you have children with you or someone unsteady on their feet, ( there was damage to the table under the television when we arrived, easy to repair though)
Somebody's underwear left in one of the drawers in the second bedroom.
laminate damaged under the couches in the living room.
- Kay (10/5): Fantastic, spacious flat close to the city, perfect for a holiday in York! - We loved everything about this place. Fantastic location, close to everything but very quiet. The flat was nicely decorated, spacious and clean. The arrival instructions were super easy to follow and the hosts left a wonderful book full of different events and attractions that we found so useful.
- Jennifer (10/5): Excellent location and clean and tidy apartment - Very central location, clean and tidy and good hosts
- Karen (9/5): Excellent apartment in an excellent but quiet location - Location of property was excellent. Quiet side alley but close walk to all that York has to offer No negatives
- Reed (10/5): Amazing - Every thing was amazing Nothing
- Jenny (8/5): Good location, comfortable stay - Beds where very comfortable A step through hall way through to kitchen we all kept forgetting about.
- J (3/5): Not like the photos! - Didnt receive instructions on how to get into the property until 15.40 and only after leaving 2 voicemails and 2 text messages. There was only 2 hand towels between 4 guests. The microwave and oven were dirty on arrival. The window frames were rotten and in need of repair. Cobwebs on the ceilings. Had to keep the curtains shut to try and keep the heat in as it was cold. Had 2 extra heaters. One was a fan heater that was so noisy you couldn't hear ourselves over it. The other was an oil filled one but too small to make any difference. Found a key in the lounge which we thought was the linen cupboard only to find it filled to the brim with dirty towels and bath mats. Dust in bedside drawers. Only reason we stayed was the beds were clean and the toilet.
- Marcy (9/5): Perfect central location for touring York! - Location is amazing. Easy walk to the train station, close to restaurants, shopping, historical old town (Shambles).
Good communication by host, easy directions.
- Margaret (7/5): An enjoyable stay - LOCATION fabulous!
Smartly furnished
Comfy beds A little chilly at times with only electric heaters
- Mikey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lauren (10/5): Unbelievable - Location was amazing was big and had everything we needed
- Kimberley (8/5): Very good - Location
Comfortable beds
Good shower
Quiet
- Fiona (9/5): Great location, very comfortable and well equipped - Really good location easy access to train and to walk into central York. It was very cold on arrival but soon got warm with the heaters provided. Personal preference is for a bath, but not an issue! Nothing really not keen on the coffee pods, but that is the manufacturers' issue not the hosts!
- Julie (8/5): Very good -
- Cat (10/5): Lovely place, would stay again - Very nice space and easy navigate. Room was clean and lovely and warm. Had a nice size TV too. Bed was comfortable. It’s really close to the train station and has some good venues around it. Nothing, it was perfect.
- Susan (8/5): Sue and friends - The location was good for getting around the centre of York only 10 minutes walk. The apartment could of been a little bit more inviting it was cold to walk into no central heating just a couple of heaters which didn't really warm the place. Also the outside of the property could do with updating.
- Catherine (7/5): Good - Clean, central and good value. The host was quite abrupt when i asked some questions about Check in times etc. Some feedback would be to have better customer service.
- Kirsty (10/5): Lovely apartment in a great location. - Had a really great 2 night stay here. The location is perfect, very close to the train station and main bus routes and only a 5 min walk to the city centre. It was very cosy and had everything we needed, the beds were very comfortable. Nothing.
- Michael (10/5): Great place to stay - Clean central was warm when we got there in the properly great communication from the owner very helpful. Great description of property and great directions for the owner Nothing
- Coxon (9/5): Fab apartment - great location - little gem! - It was in a cracking location - close to everything. It had everything you needed if you wanted to stay in and cook and the beds were extremely comfortable - there was even a little table and chairs outside which was so cute. N/A
- Victoria (8/5): Would recommend and go again . - Location was good , host was in touch on the day with detailed directions. Easily accessible. Extra heaters were available. Complementary toiletries and hairdryer. Lovely bottle of Prosecco on arrival. Thankyou . Great price for the Christmas market. Water pressure wasn’t great in the kitchen or bathroom. No hot water in the taps only electric shower .Had to boil the kettle to wash up. Didn’t upset the stay though.
- Ruth (10/5): Great location, good value and cosy - Location great for the barbican, apartment was lovely, clean and cosy, hosts texted and emailed all the info and were very efficient Nothing!
- Alex (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (7/5): Great location - Location was good, the apartment facilities were fine. Beds were very comfortable, kitchen facilities were good. It's was bloody freezing!
- Linda (8/5): Very good -
- Rachael (10/5): Exceptional - Fab location, lovely apartment
- Michele (4/5): Disappointed - Location was central but positioned behind other buildings in what appears to be very rundown block, off an alley way.
Clean except for linen on 2nd bedroom bed. Long grey hairs, even one attached to a dead insect, plus burn hole in bottom sheet.
The 3 ladies who complained previously regarding long curtain, were quite correct in their criticism.
Kitchen reasonably equipped but no dish towels amd plug for sink did not fit. Communication with owner, whoever he or she may be as I was never provided with as much as a first name, was shockingly bad.
We recieved NO instructions on how to get to this unmarked flat, a Postman helped us find it and 2 workers opened the gate for us. Only when we attempted to phone the owner, at 14h49 (who never answered), did we recieve, within 2 minutes, the instructions we should have recieved earlier to prevent us walking up and down the steep road searching. The owner had communicated they would let us know if the flat was ready earlier, well there was no one there when we got there the first time, or on our return.
Being 2 ladies on our own, we felt very unsafe with the flimsy lock on the door and windows, especially with the positioning of the flat.
The so called information book in the flat contains the incorrect gate code, as well as the Wifi name and password. On enquiring we were told it was either by the TV (Not) or we must look on the modem. No apology was offered at any time for any inconvenience.
Full to overflowing garbage bin outside bedroom window.
I have photos and screenshots of everything in this review.
- Julie (8/5): Generally, we enjoyed our stay very much. - Location was good. The property was comfortable We received access information rather late so had some difficulties getting into the property.
It would be helpful to have a plug that fitted the kitchen sink or a washing up bowl so that we could wash up more easily.
- Jaggs (10/5): Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed. - Immaculately clean, perfect location and everything you need at your fingertips and in a great location!!
2 large bedrooms with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space.
Bathroom was clean, modern and bright.
Plenty of clean towels and the shampoo, conditioner and bodywash was a lovely addition.
Kitchen had all of the amenities and even a fresh bottle of milk left for us 😁
The lounge was spacious with a large smart tv ready for you to login with your media accounts if wanted to.
The host was absolutely wonderful.
Very helpful and lovely.
There was a very helpful pack left on the coffee table with lots of ideas for things to do, carpark suggestions etc.
Highly recommend this apartment, I will rebook in the future. Nothing.
It was perfect
- Eileen (10/5): Very comfortable and affordable location , close to everything. - The location was brilliant , close to the city centre and train station.
The apartment was very good value for money. Could not think of anything I didn’t like.
- Cadogan (8/5): Would definitely stay there again - It was very clean, and there was a folder giving information on things to see and do, there was wine left for us (not that I drink) but it was a lovely thought. I don’t have any complaints
- P🧡aitchy (9/5): Lovely wee apartment in centre of York - Lovely little apartment. Had what we needed, 2 double bedrooms, living room, small kitchen. Perfect to relax after a day exploring York. Location is great, couple of mins walk from shops. Its near everything. Some lovely places right round the corner for meals, 10 mins walk from the shambles, few mins walk from the dungeons, city walls and ghost bus tours meeting point. Ideal location 👌
- Barbara (5/5): Passable - There was no sign on outer passage way to tell us the ADDRESS.
We are 3 ladies in late 70 s and walked up and down a steep street lugging our cases, for ages trying to find a signed gateway.
The step into the flat is a trip hazard and needs addressing
The electric sockets in a few places were dodgy, causing lights on n off whilst trying to switch on. Back bedroom, lounge etc.
Bathroom socket exposed to water under towel rail, with a space on top of socket not filled with grouting.
Curtains 12 inches too long in bedroom which is another trip hazard
The shower water was barely warm. Bathroom sink water just more than a trickle,
The whole place was in need of TLC.
It is a shame as the property is very central. However the overall property was disappointing.
- Shirley (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely apartment very clean, comfy beds and great location Nothing we didnt like
- Hannah (9/5): Superb - The host messaged me directly via whatsapp with the code for the gate, the lock box for the key but also included directions on how to get to the property from the train station which was much appreciated. The apartment was behind a locked gate in a quiet area which was a bonus as a woman travelling with a small child. Location of the apartment is fantastic, right round the corner from the castle walls, the train station, train museum, bus stop for the coastliners for Whitby and Scarborough. It's within a 10 minute walk of the Shambles and other historic landmarks of York city. The host included a file of information including directions to local supermarkets, various sites and landmarks in the area and a few further afield. Upstairs neighbours were quite loud, on several occasions during my stay I could hear them walking around in the early hours of the morning and their washing machine going overnight.
- Gillian (10/5): Exceptional - excellent instructions for location of flat and key pick up from host. Flat was in a great location near to train station and to main shopping area but also quiet residential area. very comfortable and well eqipt
- Emily (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (10/5): Beautiful central apartment in York - Beautiful apartment, clean, decorated very stylishly. Decent size shower. Well equipped, umbrellas available for use! Very central for getting in to the city, but in a quiet area so easy to sleep! Close to paid parking. Unfortunately booking.com didn't send through the check in details, so we arrived and couldn't get in to the property at first. After an hour on the phone it was sorted.
- Carol (9/5): Superb -
- Louise (9/5): Cosy apartment in the heart of York! - Awesome location in the heart of York. Cosy for an adult family of 4, but included everything we needed. Great walk-in shower. Hosts were very responsive and helpful when we contacted them regarding some missing crockery and provided replacements very quickly which was appreciated. Key safe made for a flexible and easy check in, which was also appreciated. Challenging/expensive parking options in the area. Not a criticism of the property itself, but should be considered if intending to arrive by car.
- Rebecca (10/5): Lovely relaxing stay ! - Lovely apartment within walking distance of the centre of York. It had all we needed for our stay. No
- Partha (8/5): Excellent place to stay in York. Hope the landlord rectifies the washing machine - Location was excellent Washing machine not working properly
- Vicki (8/5): Great fun - Location, so close to everything.
- Fletcher (10/5): Great trip. - Very clean and tidy, beds were so comfortable. The hosts were awesome providing extra little touches like tissues, milk and tea, coffee and sugar. We were bowled over by the bottle of prosecco waiting in the fridge. Can't say there was anything we didn't like but for a health and safety note, the step leading to the front door has some sort of oil or something on it making it slippery. My husband slipped and fell on his back as we left for our night on Saturday and now has a large bruise on the bottom of his back. If it was someone more frail there could be a serious injury and if he hit his head it would have been more serious. Just needs looking at. All in all a great trip though.
- Alison (5/5): Good location - Location First look, beds, pair of pjs left a crumpled up in bathroom cupboard
- Karen (1/5): Bad - Location
- Keith (8/5): Very good - Excellent location, within easy walking distance of the attractions.
- Sian (6/5): . - Good location about 15mins from York Minster and city centre and 10mins from the station. Disappointing from the outside and smelled damp walking into the property. The wall socket for the heater in the smaller bedroom doesn't work and there is wallpaper lifting in the lounge area. The washing machine also smells when you open the door. Lastly, the curtains didn't pull across very easily.
- Kwok (1/5): Bad - Location Gloomy apartment. Very smelly the room and washing machine, dirty carpet, dusty floor Old furniture and sofa. Spider web every corner. Slow water tap. Dirty beds make me feel itchy all night. Cant sleep.
- Roland (10/5): A great place to stay if you're in York for the weekend. - The apartment is in a great location, close to the train station and the old town. It was warm and cosy, very clean, and the kitchen was properly fitted out. The landlord was also very responsive and helpful.
- Dean (9/5): Great location and easy to access we were very pleased with the overall experience. - Excellent location close to restaurants and bars ,we were in York for the races and the accommodation was just right for our needs. The shower could of been a bit hotter
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jackie (9/5): Great family beak in York. - Excellent apartment right in the centre of York, easy access to the station, shops and sites. Going home.
- Jenna (7/5): Good -
