Guest Reviews
- Ann (1/5): HORRIBLE - The pool Property is very run down, concrete lifing (tripping hazard) outdoor lights not working to guide you to the toilet, big blanket hanging over a tree and lots of rubbish dumped close to fence line, cockroaches in cooking facilities and bed, road noise, lack of communication from hosts, cabin very cold, no insulation or sound proofing, could hear other guests talking until late at night. Did not feel safe or comfortable. Booked for 2 nights and checked out after one. Contacted hosts via message - 5 days later still no reply.

- Bill (5/5): An acceptable cheap stay for someone who only needed a bed for the night. - Easy to locate the property and late check-in was perfect. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.
A quaint wee place. Accessing the toilet in the middle of the night was not great fun on a cold night!!
Room was cold on arrival.
- Roger (10/5): - I really liked the mineral hot tub... It was essential after walking the crossing and helped me get rid off sore muscles and joints quickly. Well done for installing such a simple but cool (actually hot) solution :-)
- Kacie (5/5): -
- Parker (10/5): Freaking awesome! - It was peaceful and clean. Been in NZ for 25 days and this place gave me the best feelings. I read so much. I felt inspired. Met other nice travelers and really I can’t tell you how great this place made me feel.

- Janice (7/5): - comunication
- ben (6/5): Average - could be Great - Cute wooden hut
Great shower
Books to read Freezing in summer
Wasn’t cleaned with lots of rubbish and contact lenses left etc
Wind made it feel like we would wake up blown away
Noisy road
- Nigel (8/5): Low key excellent place. - Quiet, well equipped, hot tub, lots of kitchen equipment, The cabin looks tiny from outside but it is very well designed and equipped inside. Didn’t receive correct lock code. Power cut when we arrived- apparently a planned area wide power cut but we were not informed of that - so initially very concerned about that. As only a email contact. However a phone number was written on the door. This was answered immediately and very helpful advice given, the correct code given.

- Erin (7/5): ideal for roadie stopoff, unique camping pod - unique camping pod stay, nice kettle in room and outdoor little kitchen if required. Geothermal concrete tub was good.
- Evelyn (8/5): - Hot Pool, schöne Cabins. Etwas laut von der Straße ansonsten der Beschreibung entsprechend . Gute Anweisung

- Nicola (6/5): Overnight stay - We loved the tranquility. Was great to get a little peace from the hustle and bustle of city life. Did not see any staff. It would be great to have a little bin in the cabin.
- huizi (7/5): 靠近马路会有一点车流声音 - 卫生间和浴室很干净 房间里有霉味
- John (9/5): - Cabin comfortable and well supplied. Thermal pool was awesome. Accommodation in nice garden. Lovely new shared bathroom. Sound from road traffic from about 6am. Small fridge for two couples. Studio was tight for space.
- Majawk (7/5): - The cabin was nice, clean and comfortable, even though it was very small. We liked the camping-like experience. Parking wasn't great when it rained as it was on the dirt road / grass, only one shared bathroom with toilet, couple of times we had to wait for a long time to use it, as it was occupied by another guest. Also, the bathroom is outside but there are no outdoor lights nearby so flashlight is necessary
- kirin (10/5): - really cosy and quiet, close to the national parks and the outdoor kitchen was super easy to use. had a bit of issues with the check in but was resolved quickly
- Barb (1/5): - driving out of there 5 minutes after I arrived Everything.
- Bryce (10/5): Easy - Everything Not sure it was great for me

- Karlee (1/5): WORST PLACE DO NOT BOOK HERE, NASTY OWNER. - Nothing The photos shown on booking the cabin were not accurate 😕, showing no small fridge in the outdoor kitchen, but a big fridge shown in photos, that was incorrect, thats inside another cabin, not for the cabin use. The small one in the outdoor kitchen is shared between 2 other cabins, not big enough for that. The cabin we booked was smelly, way smaller than shown, only a desk fan to keep cool. The kitchen area, very messy and not clean. The spa was muddy looking and the cover had been left off and bugs all over the top, I was told to use the small scoop near spa. This was not habitable, we packed up and left immediately, asked for a refund, was met with much rudeness from the owner, declining our refund, she just wanted our money for our Christmas day booking, greedy nasty woman. We wanted a nice Christmas 🎄 🙄 this wouldn't have been a nice Christmas.
- Jennette (7/5): Cute place, you get what you pay for. - Cute little spot, well stocked shared kitchen space There is only one bathroom and shower for all the guests of the three cabins; more would be nice. And our linens weren’t very fresh.
- Toni (10/5): - Please was fabulous clean, private ,great location with everything you need like a camping but more modern ,thank you we will definitely be back
- Guest (9/5): -
- Aimee (9/5): Cute little cabin with all that you need! - Great little spot, excellent directions messaged through. Also has an excellent shower! The trucks go past quite late at night!
- Mark (8/5): - This was one of the most affordable overnight options close to Turangi. Small but comfortable cabin with good bed. The kitchen area was in a sheltered outdoors position and the shared bathroom/shower facility was clean and dry. Basic but good value "cabin camping" style accommodation ! A sheltered eating spot outside the cabin would have been nice. Occasional traffic noise from the main road nearby at night.
- James (10/5): Visit to Kiwi - Private, clean in a nice sunny area with everything we needed and a natural hot tub. The lawn needed a mow
- James (10/5): -
- Laura (9/5): - The bathroom was very clean, the thermal hot tub was amazing! Room was warm, bed comfy. Great instructions from the host. If there were maybe 1 more toilet and some coat hooks in the room.
- Peter (7/5): Very happy we stayed here. - LOVED THE BUSH SETTING. The bathroom was clean and new. Plenty of power points in the cabin. Hot water jug and cups etc in cabin. The thermal pool very good. We couldn't comment on the staff since no one was around. The instructions we received by email were clear and worked. There was a number to ring if assistance was required. Car had to be parked away from the cabin, the bathroom was also a little walk from the cabin but these were minor inconveniences since the weather was fine. Might not be such a great place in the rain for coming and going. If the shower and toilet were separate would have been better.

- rosemary (9/5): -
- Bennett (5/5): Cute and quirky - It was nice to have the facilities to ourselves and a soak in the hot tub after dinner was relaxing Love the idea and it met our needs at the time The bed was not very comfortable and amenities were not easy to negotiate in the middle of the night.
- Silvana (7/5): -
- Tanya (8/5): -
- Jolene Simoes (7/5): - We loved our cozy tiny home and it was perfect for our needs. Our toddler was very entertained by everything and enjoyed exploring between the kitchen area and the room. We especially loved the geothermal pool and appreciated it after a long day on the road. The bathroom facilities were also above our expectations. We love an outdoor kitchen, but the space could use a little TLC and there was no option for eating outside with our toddler without freezing (it was a very cold evening and morning).
- Donna (9/5): - Awesome private getaway with everything we needed.Nice new bathroom facilities, adequate outdoor cooking setup, clean cabin with ample blankets, easy instructions provided for our stay.geothermal hot tub was a big plus!would definitely stay again.
- Jan (10/5): A great stay near the Tongariro NP - A great stay in a cabin, we used it as a base for hiking in the Tongariro NP. Stargazing in the private hot pool after a day's hike was unparalleled. The cabin was a bit tight for space, but well equipped and nicely decorated. The bathroom was very modern and clean.
- Jannel (9/5): Great - The cabin was quirky I wish the designated parking space was bigger to accommodate different types of vehicles (my car was small and we still had difficulty fitting it within the designated spot - marked with bricks per instructions)
- Kennedy (2/5): Not a suitable place to stay - Geothermal pool was nice Very basic facilities situated at a distance from the sleeping area including the outdoor kitchen. A rat often started chewing or scratching around the underside of the cabin through the duration of our stay
- Dianne (4/5): It was OK, wouldn't stay again for the price - Great to have a quiet cabin, very small gap beside beds. A long way to bathroom, very uneven walkway at night. Maybe make pathway flatter .
- Lucy (7/5): Good - Good information in the cabin and thermal pool available for use. Contact details if you needed anything but no-one actually available on site.
Fruit trees around and lovely gardens with washing line and pegs available. Great location to escape, and walk down to the lake at the end of the road.
Toaster and kettle available in cabin which was nice, and a table to sit outside and eat at. Very noisy overnight from the main road and some distance to the nearest town for supplies (ok if you have a car).
Took a while to figure out the set up - there were friends of the owners there when I arrived just using the facilities then various different people arrived and it was unclear the exacte situation until later - there are 2 cabins with access to shared outside bathroom, and I believe the main house was also being used as accomodation but I had thought it was occupied by the owners.
Room is quite small. Fine for one but for two it might be tight with bags etc.
- Séverine (10/5): Exceptional - A lovely place for a lovely rest, under the stars.
- Laura (9/5): Perfect location and comfy bed for tongariro alpine crossing walk! Geothermal tub an extra bonus! - Perfect location, we stopped in here for the night after walking the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and it was an incredibly comfy bed and perfect location! The geothermal pool was a particular highlight and the bathroom was very clean. We appreciated the addition of bug spray too. Our check in information was sent straight after booking but seemed outdated by the time we got there (we didn’t have a second key to access the house/inside refrigerator area) there was also a lot of different signage with rules on dotted about which took away slightly from the other extremely welcoming elements!! These were only very minor criticisms though and we would highly recommend!
- Susanne (9/5): Cute inexpensive cabin with all that you need. - Cute tiny cabin with comfortable bed, very clean room and shared bathroom. Owners have a “Keep Out” sign which seems incredibly rude for an accommodation- If visitors have intruded but maybe they didn’t know?! Long way to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Very very close to main road so not as quiet as you expect
- Amelia (7/5): Great location for Tongariro Crossing and good facilities. But geothermal pool was too dirty to use - The hut was super cute and clean. The kitchen facilities and bathroom was also great.
The instructions to get into the property given by the host were easy to follow. The hut was extremely hot and no fan was provided.
The geothermal pool was filthy so us and the other people staying on site opted not to use it.
- Taueki-hapeta (8/5): Very good -
- Tracy (8/5): Very good - The room was gorgeous in a beautiful setting. The bed was super comfortable and we felt so relaxed there We sent a couple of emails to the owners to ask questions and it took them a long time each time to get back to us and their replies were very curt. It felt like we were annoying them by contacting them to be honest. It was disappointing cos everything else about the place was gorgeous
- Jasmine (8/5): Very good -
- Patricia (1/5): Bad - I want to be refunded the money taken out of my account. There were no staff. There was a code i needed to open door. I did not recieve one. The owners ph. Number was in france.!!!. The only thing i could do was to leave and find other accommodation in turangi... im very annoyed and can't understand how you deal with these owners. The above..having had my money taken out of my account but no way to get into accomodation and no way to communicate with owners and ended up in a shitty place in turangi( it being xmas and new year holidays
- Phil (7/5): Good -
- Iris (8/5): Very good - The hottub and the good matrass were a huge plus! Room is nicely decorated. As shown in the pictures. The position close to the noisy road and the fact that the bathroom is inside the house. Did not really bother me though, but I did not see that in the ad. You also have to share it with the other cabin. It is clean and warm and the owners are the best!! They are currently making a guest bathroom on the premises for the two cabins
- Antony (4/5): cabins for sale in - The cooking facilities ok The main road was was around 10 ft from our bed very noisy !!
- Barrie (9/5): Superb - Great spot to stay when travelling long distances.
- Cory (9/5): Superb -
- Lynne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brendan (10/5): 10 out of 10 - The spa was nice, the cabin was warm and I liked the trees (from my 9 year old). The was nothing I didn't like (from my 9 year old).
- Christine (9/5): Would definitely go there de again if passing that way - It was fun, really enjoyed our wee cabin (Te Whare) Great friendly & helpful host
- Louis (8/5): Rustic cabin, with geothermal hot pool. Great experience for tourists or those needing a stop over. -
- Tamara (2/5): Not worth it- prefer campground down the road - Access to fridge Very noisy location on highway, owners are located out of country so unavailable to offer on-site requests at any point. I forgot my brand new swimsuit there and was told it would be thrown out because they do not manage lost and found. The hot pool and cooking areas are also unkempt and unsettling. Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibes.
- Craig (7/5): Good -
- Emma (8/5): Quirky kiwiana. Loved it. - Loved the private thermal pool although it wasn’t available on the first night. Great kiwiana. Host was friendly and helpful. Was a little bit run down compared to the photographs. Hopefully over the warmer months they will get it up to scratch
- Don (5/5): Disappointing - Comfortable cabin.
Clean facilities. Traffic noise.
Sharing house owner's bathroom.
Geothermal pool unusable on one day because of low water level.
- Kim (8/5): Unique cabin in a quiet beautiful setting. - Loved the uniqueness and the thermal pool! Shared bathroom, but I coped!
- Helen (1/5): Bad - N/A We arrived on time
Nobody was there and voice went straight to voicemail, on trying to contact the host, in fact they didn’t call back at all.
No key was provided and no instructions on where to find one.
Property was badly signposted, we couldn’t find it till we searched up and down the Rd.
The web site had no pics but it was expertly written up to cover every conceivable thing a traveller would require here a big big list!,
unfortunately we were gutted to see that nothing matched the write up and expectations we expected to see when we arrived,
grounds were very poor as well.
Thermal pool looked nothing like picture shown , very uninviting.
Because no one was there we had to go and find somewhere else to stay,
in all honesty would not recommend this place to anybody.
We expect nothing less then a complete refund.
- Kai (9/5): Cute and cosy cabin stay - Cosy cabin, geothermal pool and facilities were everything we needed!
- Lauren (4/5): Didn't end up staying here - The little cabin was cute. I didn't end up staying here. The pictures definitely make this place look better than it is. I took one look around and then booked somewhere else to stay. The pool looks out onto a messy garden, with little privacy. The cooking facilities were weathered. It would have been cheaper and better to have stayed in a hostel.
- Tobias (7/5): Good - Good stop over for the night on our trip up north. Easy to access the shared facilities. Comfortable room which we could get warm enough with the heater. We didn't really stay long enough to utilise the cooking facilities etc.
- Jocelyn (8/5): Laid back in Turangi - Quirky facilities that gave a back to basics feel but delivered on everything you need with added value of having a geo thermal pool. Traffic/truck noise early in the morning
- Jill (7/5): Will return - Beautiful spot, hot tub was a surprise bonus
- Reuben (10/5): Awesome stay for the price, bed was super comfy and cozy and the thermal spring hot tub was amazing! - Hot tub was amaaaazing!
- Jo (7/5): Simple, rustic and convenient to Turangi and the mountain. - It's a cute little cabin and the bed was comfy. The weather was very cold but the room was easy to heat. The pool is lovely. Instructions around the place are clear. It would be better to have the tea bags in jars or labelled so you know what you're getting, and they stay fresher. A rubbish bin would be handy and a hook or towel rail for wet towels (or jackets in winter) as there's little room in the bathroom especially when the other cabin is occupied & the facilities shared by 4 people.
- Tricia (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely setting. Cute cabin. Comfortable bed.
- Yamaguchi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mayank (9/5): Superb - Lovely people, lovely kid. Great location
- Lu (8/5): Very good - Friendly hosts, lovely setting
- Werner (9/5): Superb -
- Senor (10/5): Exceptional - Warm and cozy, everything you need for a great price. Really welcoming hosts and the geothermal pool is awesome!
- Hadi (10/5): Worth the price - Highlight of my trip! The host is very friendly and helpful, near to surrounding beautiful natures and the hot pool is a gem.
- Andrea (10/5): Great stay near lake Taupo - We had a lovely time in the Kiwi Cabin. The bed was comfortable and the outside kitchen had all the necessary utensils. Clara was very attentive and gave us some tips for the area. And of course having the geothermal pool in the garden to use was amazing!
