Guest Reviews
- Tracy (10/5): Brilliant 3 days away and we would definitely return. - It was so clean and done to a high spec. Everything was thought of so it was definitely a home from home.
Location was spot on and the church was a beautiful view when you looked out of the window. There wasn't anything I didn't like.
- Paula (10/5): Will return!! - Super location, beautifully clean cottage, gorgeous decoration and very well-equipped. Hosts were very helpful.
- Helen (9/5): A beautiful house in an excellent location in a wonderful city'. - Location was excellent, a short walk to the river and city. The property was lovely, homely and immaculately clean. The stairs were quite steep, but manageable for most.
- carole (10/5): Lovely cottage - The cottage was great. The beds were comfortable and every room was nicely decorated and furnished. The car parking was no problem, one space directly out side the front door and another round the corner. The little courtyard garden was pleasant to sit in with our morning coffees. The kitchen had lots of pots and pans for cooking with.
It was an easy short walk into the city.
Hosts answered any questions almost immediately. Check in was very straightforward Nothing

- Danni (9/5): Surprise Birthday Weekend for two members of the family. - The property felt home from home. Everything you wanted was in the property. Only about 10mins walk into the centre of Chester. There was few bars/restaurants near by if you didn't want to go into the centre. A local Asda not far from the property. River Wyre was so close, which is a lovely walk, takes you into a walk which was nice. I always take my own toiletries but didn't need to everything was there, but you just never know. We love visiting Chester. Just the noise of the traffic and the church bells, but that cannot be helped as the property was on a main road, opposite a church. It wouldn't stop us from staying there again and it didn't bother us that much.
- Jacob (10/5): -
- Nicky (10/5): Perfect Family weekend break - Excellent location for Chester city centre.
Clear and accurate directions and access information provided by the hosts which made finding the property easy …… Thank you !
Very cosy, comfortable house with every facility for self catering. Tasteful and well thought out decor!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed this Chester treat ! Could not fault our stay!
- Gerrard (10/5): Love staying there close to everything - Comfortable as always
- Ellis (10/5): Lovely weekend stay - Great location, walking distance into the centre. Lovely decor and comfy beds. Great value for money. Church opposite is lovely but does ring bells regularly. I had read this on other reviews and took earplugs which sorted the problem. Nothing we didn’t like.
- Lee (10/5): Fantastic home from home I’d definitely return and would recommend. So convenient for city centre. - Worth paying for hot tub. Property has everything you need - the washing machine was an excellent facility. As were the first class fans in bedroom. The weather was hot and these were a great addition. The church opposite was lovely but I’m a light sleeper - I knew this would be an issue with the chimes every 15 mins. I took my ear plugs and no problem. Hubby and daughter had no such issues.
- Thomas (10/5): - The property was in an excellent location for our visit walking distance to the city. It had everything we needed for our stay. Nothing about the actual property but for future quests you need to keep a close eye on the parking if you are not able to park directly outside the property. We parked across the road and didn't move the car quickly enough in the morning and received a parking ticket
- kim (8/5): Perfect location and a spotlessly clean cottage! - Great location, short walk into Chester. Lovely comfortable cottage with a well equipped kitchen. Parking was difficult but we managed to park on a nearby street.
- Philip (9/5): - Amazing location and very nice house. A pint of milk make a massive welcome, sadly there wasn't any, no washing up liquid either.
- paul (9/5): An amazing property, exactly what we wanted for our stay in Chester! Beautiful property with amazing touches. - Really comfortable very clean and modern , a home from home type of accommodation. Owners were brilliant for keeping in touch. The beds were really comfortable, perfect after a long day exploring.
Very close to the centre of Chester. NA

- Sally (10/5): Lovely place to stay in Chester - Lovely cottage - a lot of thought had evidently gone into making sure that it was a home from home. We really appreciated the fact that toiletries and everything you might need for cooking etc had been provided.
Perfect location too. Can’t think of anything!
- Zoe (8/5): Would recommend, great property & great hosts - The location was perfect, with several pubs and restaurants nearby and the city centre just a short walk away. The house itself was cosy, well-equipped, and nicely decorated. Although we didn’t cook much during our stay, everything I needed was available—except for beer glasses! There were plenty of glasses, but nothing suitable for beer.
The beds were clean and comfortable, and the host was excellent—very responsive and helpful with useful information. The small courtyard was pleasant, and the hot tub was a lovely touch after a long day walking around the zoo.
Would recommend and will definitely book again for the next trip to Chester. There was an abandoned car parked outside the property, occupying a valuable parking space. While this was mildly inconvenient, it’s important to note that this wasn’t the fault of the host. However, parking is quite limited in the area, so this did have a small impact on convenience.
In terms of cleanliness, the property was generally good, but a bit more attention to detail would improve the overall experience. For example, the cushion covers appeared grubby, and the exterior windows were noticeably dirty.

- Jes16 (9/5): Perfect for our family weekend away - The location was fantastic the cottage had everything we needed for a few days stay at Chester. It was lovely and would definitely recommend to people. There wasn't anything we didn't like but if I had to think of something I guess.... the stairs creaked ALOT. I
But it wasn't an issue and didn't affect our stay at all.
- Siobhan (10/5): - Comfortable with everything you need, towels, soap/ shampoo, tea, coffee, sugar and milk all provided. Easy to walk in and relax.
Close to town centre, within walking distance. On road parking nearby.
- Guy (9/5): - Lovely cottage, clean and well equipped.
The location was perfect, and a short walk to the city centre.
- mélanie (10/5): Cosy and beautiful - Beautiful and confortable place. Lots of equipments to cook properly nice meals.
Highly recommended !
- Stacey (8/5): Beautiful location, well equipped property we had a lovely day at the zoo and the races. - Loved the area the property was located in, Asda express, bar and play park close by. Short walk into Chester town centre. The property had everything you need, very well equipped. We wanted to dispose of out rubbish before leaving but no instructions of where to leave it, also didn’t like how noisy the stairs were. Myself and daughter cut ourselves walking up the stairs on what I think was the gripper rod.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, clean, everything we needed for our stay.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charmaine (10/5): Exceptional - What a lovely relaxing home from home. Everything that you needed was provided. We would definitely use again. Could do with net for scooping out the leaves etc in the hot tub
- Ryan (8/5): Very good -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the decor and the house was equipped with everything we wanted and needed. The location was perfect, just a short walk to the river and the heart of the town. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (10/5): Excellent - Super cosy, comfortable and clean Nothing
- Dawn (9/5): Superb - Great location, close to Chester centre. Beautifully decorated & clean.
- Alison (9/5): Superb - Beautiful decoration of all rooms, loved the dining area, bed very comfortable, good shower. Fun with the hot tub. Parking was tricky.
- Claire (9/5): Superb - Cosy, clean, fantastic location
- Paul (10/5): A lovely stay - Everything was great and we’ll be back thank you
- Lisa (9/5): Convenient location for exploring Chester and the surrounding area. Cosy and comfortable stay - Very easy to find and collect keys from lock box Nothing
- Laura (8/5): Very good - Perfect cosy house for a break with the family. Loved how close it was to the centre of Chester, a great base for exploring. Would stay again! Everything was great, would have been even better with the hot tub.
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional - This property is so beautiful. It's spotless and well equipped. It's very comfortable, and it's a high standard. It's got everything you need. I would definitely stay here again. We loved it. Nothing
- Gerrard (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location. Hot tub amazing, very cosy.
- Alistair (9/5): Very comfortable and beautiful cottage in a great position - More spacious than we were expecting and really beautifully decorated and appointed. We appreciated the lovely Christmas decorations. Position was very convenient - an easy walk into Chester, on a surprisingly quiet road. Parking was easy. Very helpful hosts. We'd stay again! There was nothing we would have changed apart from the church bells opposite - although these obviously aren't anything to do with the property itself and we soon got used to them (they're quieter overnight).
- Sarah (10/5): A really lovely find to enable us to visit family over xmas. Would not hesitate to book again. - The cottage was beautifully decorated and very clean. The location to chester was perfect! There was nothing that we didn't like
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dowling (8/5): Brilliant base. Was concerned re parking & distance to centre beforehand but both absolutely fine. - It was a great base with quick access to Chester town centre & not far to walk at all. Will definitely use again. Liked the old church directly opposite & the bells ringing every hour (not too loud). Asda nearly for essentials & some interesting old buildings that I've never seen before because I've not ventured past the riverside. Some of the kitchen drawers were a bit dirty. The coffee machine only had one type of really string coffee pod that I can't deal with. Best off with in just normal coffee if no selection for the machine.
- Rachel (10/5): Great weekend away - The place felt very homely. The added Christmas items around the cottage including a gorgeous big tree was so nice to walk in to, great touch. Communication was excellent, hosts were very kind when we needed to check out a little later due to ill health. Very much appreciated. Thanks for a lovely stay. Nothing, was perfect.
- Lorraine (10/5): Definitely return host fabulous - Excellent location beautiful property
Everything you need. Nothing
- Elizabeth (3/5): Didn’t believe our review:Exhausting- 6 hours sleep in total over 2 nights. - The house was very nicely decorated and had good facilities within. There was no mention of the church bells going off every 15 minutes 24/7, right opposite the house, nor the fact it’s on a main road and the traffic is noisy. Both nights were kept awake by noisy neighbours using their property as a base for ‘extra-curricular activities’ until 2am then slamming the front door as they leave. Incredibly noisy staircase that woke my child up every time one of us used it. No response from owners even 12 hours after first attempting contact.
Update, hosts weren’t happy with our feedback, poor customer service, asked us to go through booking.com for a refund/compensation…this is now pending, not happy!
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - The house was perfect for us to walk into Chester town center. There were 4 of us so 2 bedrooms were great . House was clean so all good . Parking isn't the best as you're not allocated your own space .
Also the landing could do with night light for night visit to bathroom.
- Bethan (10/5): Lovely comfortable property, excellent value for money for a catch up with friends - Close to city centre
Lovely decor at the house and everything we needed was available
- Jimzydoodah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marie (10/5): Very Family Friendly - Loved everything about the place. It was lovely and clean and everything was easy to find. Especially as we have a one year old, there was a high chair, plates and cutlery provided for her. Location was perfect as we could walk everywhere and the Zoo was only 10 minutes away by car. Nothing about the property. I would say maybe some washing up gloves would've been nice but thats not really an issue at all. Another thing we noticed was the lack of parking out front but there were alternatives around the area.
- Paul (10/5): We Stay in Chester often and we will definitely be returning to Overleigh Cottage. Perfect. - It was clean, close to the town centre exactly what we wanted.
- Liz (10/5): Perfect - Fabulous cottage with everything you need and very close to the racecourse and city centre. 😊
- Maria (10/5): Home from home stay - Cozy cottage very welcoming Nothing
- Emily (10/5): Ideal with a lovely home from home feel - Everything Loved it all.
- Julie (10/5): Immaculate cozy cottage, easily walkable to Chester’s main attractions. - We really liked how close it was to Chester and the restaurants and shops and how comfortable it was for the family. Nothing!
- Javier (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful house, clean, comfortable, well equipped and conveniently located in a quiet area near the city centre. We spent a couple of weeks and had a great experience. Although we didn't meet the owners personally, the communication was fluent and were very helpful so that we felt like at home. Thank you, Graeme and Kelly!
- Kim (10/5): Highly recommend this to anyone looking to travel to Chester - Absolutely could not fault anything about this properly at all. Very clean, facilities are awesome, everything you need is at the property.
The owner was also very helpful when I was having problems with booking.com app. The only downside to our stay was that we only booked a two nights and not longer.
- Kerry (10/5): Dreamy cottage - The cottage was beautiful and very comfortable. The decor was lovely and made it so homely. There were plenty of little thoughtful details and overall we had a wonderful experience. The hot tub was an added bonus! The cottage is in a great location, close to an Asda Express and restaurants and only 15 minutes from Chester zoo.
- Rebecca (10/5): Fantastic accommodation - Perfect location for walking into the city. Cottage was lovely and cosy, had everything you could want or need.
- Emily (10/5): It was a Fabulous stay! - Beautiful cottage in a brilliant location! We had such a lovely family weekend here…. Films, games, laughter and adventuring.
The hosts Kelly and Graeme were great and couldn’t have be more accommodating and helpful. A home from home with everything you need inside. We loved the decor the beds were super comfy and the wireless chargers at the bedsides were a life saver. Couldn’t recommend enough.
- Tom (10/5): Perfect base to explore Chester. - Very cosy and well furnished, clean and well decorated, walking distance to everything in the city centre. Perfect base for exploring the city. My only criticism, and this is in no way the fault of the property owner, is that there is a church opposite whose bell tolls every 15 mins, 24 hrs a day.. if you are a light sleeper, bring some ear plugs.
- Emily (10/5): Home away from home! - Loved everything! Ideal location, cozy and comfortable, spotless and well equipped, friendly hosts. Will definitely be looking to stay here again. Suggestions - oven glove, coasters for living room/bedroom, otherwise perfect.
- Michael (10/5): Research and sightseeing, which was easy with public transportation. - Plenty of room, kitchen had cookware and dinnerware suitable for any meal. The street is busy but still quiet enough. The 16 bus will get you going to almost anywhere (except Sunday morning). Contact with proprietors was easy and thorough, although we had little reason to do so. Finally, the Inn near the river is friendly, good food (and beer!), and convenient. I can honestly say that we liked everything.
- Roger (9/5): Superb -
- Ben (10/5): Faultless - Well equipped, nicely furnished
- Deb (10/5): Exceptional - Location.

- Leanda (10/5): Couldn't have been better! - My first visit to Chester and it didn't disappoint. I chose this cottage as we were wanting to visit the Zoo and my partners Son who is in Chester Uni. I couldn't have chosen better, the cottage was perfect for what we wanted, its decor is lovely, it is warm, inviting and has everything you could need for your stay. Location was just what we wanted. We added the hot tub and enjoyed it on a couple of evenings. Spoke to the hosts a couple of times who were lovely and helpful. We will look to come back again later in the year x
- Sarah (10/5): Fabulous! We will be back !! - Firstly i would just like to say how beautiful overleigh house is :) i fell in love with it ..and it had everything plus more you could ever need for a comfortable stay! ...and wow was it cozy !!!
The hot tub was a fabulous added extra that we enjoyed throughout our stay. My only recommendation is just a mop to help when coming in to the kitchen from the hottub , i did use our towels for this but a mop would be just perfect in order to protect the beautiful flooring :) .
The location was perfect and its one of our favourite places to visit. We rate our stay as a 5 star and we will back shortly . We was very intrested in your other properties including the one in spain !
