• Claire (5/5): Good but not great so not worth the price - The apartment wasnt up to much, the hot tub and bed were great although I think there should be more ventilation in the hot tub room. The bathroom door was broken they had fixed with a block of wood. Other small easily fixed things around the apartment but other than that it was clean and comfortable.

• Ashleigh (1/5): We contacted through booking.com about our concern for the tub and a guy came out and basically told us it was clean and - The hot tub was filthy with tan after receiving a messaging upon arrival that the water had been changed, there was a sour smell right through the apartment I think from the hottub, cleanliness around the apartment wasn’t great either for the money

• Kirsty (6/5): Pleasant stay, comfortable and would probably be back. - Great decoration, nice compact room There was cobwebs all over the place, the hot tub area was too cold and a bit too dark, the tv in the hot tub didn’t have internet.

• Cerys (6/5): Lovely stay but disappointed with the lack of customer service and facilities - Lovely interior Very spacious No microwave, hairdryer or toiletries which was poor as it says on the booking that these are provided The TV in the hot tub room didn’t work at all so didn’t spend any time in there which was the main reason for booking. Hot tub extremely warm and no where for the steam to go. Does not reflect the price tag. Poor customer service as tried to contact owner several times with no reply.

• Ellie (9/5): Nice relaxing night away - Loved the hot tub, was so relaxing. And the beds were so comfy. Room was nicely decorated aswell! Only a 15 minute drive to Falkirk too. Hot tub room was very very dark and the tv in the hot tub room was painfully slow. Whole room could do with a good dust too but i’d still definitely recommend.

Bed was extremely comfy and it was just a nice relaxing night away. Only thing I would mention was it said when booking that toiletries and a hair dryer was provided so did not pack these items, upon arrival it seemed they were not available.

• Lynsay (6/5): Quirky, cool overnighter - Indoor hot tub Instructions would be helpful and whilst the very dark hot tub room was romantic it was really difficult to see TV remote in that room for example. Very cosy room but thermostat on wall missing batteries and couldn't turn heater down when we wanted the room cooler for sleeping Issue with drain in kitchen cupboard - bad smell.

• Christopher (10/5): A truly wonderful experience! - Well what can I say, other than.... Wow WOw WOW!! The Penny Black Apartment does not disappoint! It is a stunning 1 bedroom apartment with a small neat and tidy kitchen. Just off to the kitchen is a spacious bathroom with a pretty big fantastic walk in shower! The best part obviously is the little outhouse with the indoor hot tub... It is just amazing!! It's even better the fact there is a little TV in the room as well so you can relax and chill out in the hot tub and watch something at the same time. Best part of our overnight by far! We got a Chinese for dinner, which is situated just around the corner and again this did not disappoint! Within the apartment there is a little wall bench table and two high chairs where we could sit comfortably and have our dinner. Our host Grace was amazing from start to finish. Grace made the whole experience really enjoyable and the extra sweet little preparations she made for our arrival beforehand just topped the overnight stay off. It truly is an amazing wonderful place that Grace and her partner should be so proud of. All the hard work, time and effort that they both put into the apartments should not go unnoticed and we cannot wait to return once again in the near future. I could not fault The Penny Black Apartment or it's Host Grace in any way shape or form.

• Karen (10/5): - It was just perfect to spend valuable away from it time with my fiancee! It's off the beaten track, but we weren't there for sightseeing! The hot tub is sooooo amazing! Everything you needed was available! The birthday package add on made his day! Was perfect! Wee hidden secret place and the bed was the most comfortable bed ever! Was clean, yes a bit of dust here and there, but who cares! The towels and bed smelt like it was just out the washing machine! Loved it! Would recommend to every couple I know! Nothing!.....OK, forgot, there was no microwave, which I was relying on cause I took homemade lasagne to heat up! My fiancee's fav. Still didn't ruin the night! 😊
• Lorraine (10/5): Perfect, romantic stay - Brilliant stay at The Penny Black! Such a lovely apartment with romantic and relaxing atmosphere. Attention to detail was brilliant and hosts were friendly and helpful when contacted for info and directions. Huge, comfy bed and of course the hot tub stole the show - such a luxury having a private hot tub indoors and not having to leave the apartment at all! Nothing at all.

• Chloe (9/5): Romantic stay - lovely setting. - We loved how romantic it was. The hot tub with the fairy lights and LED lights were lovely. Really enjoyable stay. Location is quite far out - almost feels like the middle of nowhere but you know that before booking. Apartment really needed a good dust. It didn’t feel clean.

• Samantha (7/5): Nice location chilled time away x - The hosts were very nice and gave us all information required for our stay They left us a gift with a handwritten card because of previous guests making a mess meaning we had to push our check in time back which we thought was really nice There was a couple cans of juice and bottles of water in the fridge for us which was a nice touch also And the hot tub was great for relaxing in at night There was a considerable amount of dust under the bed and on top of the bed frame/underneath and around the mattress

• Charlotte (8/5): It was great, just had an unfortunate time with bugs - Love the aesthetic of the apartment, owners are lovely when I had troubles finding where the apartment was. Unfortunately we had 2 big spiders and other bugs, we also couldn’t stay in the hot tub for long as the chlorine was stinging our eyes and unfortunately couldn’t hear the tv in the hot tub room and the remotes weren’t turning the volume up.
• Rebecca (8/5): - Really cute couples getaway, we struggled to get out of bed: it was so comfortable!! The hottub exceeded expectations and the wine cooler was a nice addition. Good public transport to get there and travel around the area as well :) Only little complaint: the property was a little dusty in some areas but other than that, it was a clean and comfortable place.

WiFi was okay and bed was very comfy I think the hot tub needs more ventilation was getting quite steamy and making us feel a bit light headed, remote also wasn’t working for the tv in the hot tub room, hot tub was also overfilled and was flooding out when we got into it, no were to really put out drinks when in the hot tub. Lot of noise from the outside

Indoor hot tub was a real novelty... no running back into the house to get warm after getting out! Some lovely touches left by the hosts too :)

Outside the property needs some tlc.
