• Peter (9/5): A touch of luxury in a safe and calm location - The apartment is well sorted, comfortable, large and clean. Quality of fittings and decorations are on par with luxury hotels in Nairobi. I was initially sceptical before booking, but happy I did, because the much smaller hotel rooms can’t compare. Nit picking here… Price is a tad on the higher side, could be lower for long stays. The location is near a small shopping mall with cafes and restaurants but everything else requires an Uber.

• brad (8/5): - Very nice, high-end apartment The second email I received from the host indicated that I would be given the codes necessary to enter the apartment in an upcoming email. Rather than receivning that, I got a mail saying that the apartment would be reassigned because I had missed check-in time. It was 9pm and the check-in times indicated clearly on the Booking.com reservation was check-in between noon and midnight. Also, it was a non-refundable booking so that didn't make any sense. We spent around 15 minutes with poor communication standing in front of the apartment door trying to get in. Then, the host added a transaction fee because he wanted to be paid through mpesa meaning that actual cost was highed than that indicated on booking.com. This is unaccceptable. The price is the price, end of story.

• Scott (8/5): Magnificent apartment manage entry and exit timings precisely - The ambiance of the apartment is unparalleled from what I’ve experienced so far. The passion of the host is evident in the immaculate attention to detail throughout the apartment. I never got to use the gym and don’t think it is 24 hours but it’s there. It has a comfortable bed, quiet, and modern fairly sound proof windows that close sealed shut. Especially for rainy seasons, the apartment can use screens for the windows or the bed for sleeping for those that like to keep the windows open to eliminate the possibility of mosquitos. I don’t believe it is a mosquito disease area but still desirable to have. Out of control of the host, I needed an early check in and late check out. It wasn’t discussed in advance but the place had guests immediately before and after so my request could not be granted. This was a good deal my own lack of optimal planning. I arrived to the country early morning so needed to get additional Accomodations to rest.

Safe complex. Some difficulty initially locating the apartment, based on name Elite Luxury Apartment instead of Heartland Gardens sign on building. It was a bit confusing for our taxi driver and safari pick up driver. Not enough towels initially provided, issues with stove, and shower water temperature. These issues were quickly resolved by our host.

• Kitanya (1/5): Woke up with roaches - The apartment looks like the pictures. Want to wake up with roaches? Then this is your spot. This is my story: INCIDENT #1: At check-in, the key broke in the door. I called the host FOUR times and he was unresponsive. Thankfully, security at the complex was able to reach the Owner. He told us he would arrive in 10-15 minutes but took an hour. I get it – traffic in Nairobi is insane. After an hour, he arrived with a spare key. The lock or key or both are defective because the spare key also required some working jiggling to open the door. Was I annoyed at having to wait? Yes. Tired from traveling? Absolutely. But we accepted his apology. INCIDENT #2: The Owner showed us how to operate the hot water heater and turned it on. We waited a couple hours and had no hot water in the shower. I told the Owner, and he had security stop by to adjust the heater. I appreciated the quick response and said so to the Owner. INCIDENT #3: Shortly after checking in, I first noticed a roach in the kitchen. I informed the Owner immediately. Then spotted more roaches in the bathroom. INCIDENT #4: Ever woke up with a roach in your bed? Yep, that happened. Ewwwww! I can overlook a broken key and no hot water. But roaches? No way. The owner dismissed my complaints as an “exaggeration” and "if I was looking for a perfect stay, we don't have that." Yet, he boasts about being a super host. Yes, expecting a roach-free stay or at the very least not to wake up with roaches is asking for too much. The Owner also requested pictures of the roaches. I guess he thought I wouldn't have evidence of the roach. I provided a video of the roach in the kitchen. His attitude was rude and condescending. He sent several messages on whatsapp and I had to tell him twice the conversation was over. I was not arguing with him about my experience. I had to block him. I wouldn't recommend staying here. Save yourself the stress and stay somewhere else.

The flat itself is really spacious and has two well equipped bathrooms. We enjoyed our time there. The location is a bit remote, and we mostly used Uber to commute to different attractions. The neibourgh however, felt safe and we saw many other tourists. Also, we found a couple of insects (cockroach-like) near the kitchen and the open-space for laundry. We informed the owner and he sent the cleanening ladies straight away. The insects might have come in from the outside.

• Regina (10/5): Nice apartment in Nairobi with great owner - Bonnie's two-bedroom apartment is very nice. It was super clean and well appointed. There is a good-sized living room and dining room area and a kitchen (no oven but not needed). There is also a washer and dryer in the apartment. Location wise, it is near Wilson Airport (and was about 25 minutes from NBO). It is a short Uber ride from grocery stores. I'm not sure how walkable the apartment is; Bonnie suggested we take a taxi to stores and that would have been most comfortable although we didn't have time to do that anyway. The best thing about this booking is Bonnie! On arrival he was available in the middle of the night to communicate with our Uber driver if needed. He was also available by text during and even after our stay. When you are in a new city, it's nice to have complete trust in someone to help with logistics! It was a good stay.
