- Michael (10/5): Totally relaxing, calm , quiet, stunning views ( when not obscured by clouds and rain) that can happen anywhere!! - Everything Nothing
- Michele (10/5): Comfortable house with fantastic views. - This was our second visit and hope to come again. The property is very comfortable with fantastic views and a large deck from which to enjoy them.
Francis, the property manager, is most helpful and did a great job in sorting out a complicated situation that arose because of bad weather. There is nothing really to dislike but it would be good to have some clothes hanging space on the upper level. Some of the planking on the deck needs attention.
- Sue (10/5): Fantastic views, spacious and felt like a “home-away-from-home” - The fantastic views over the harbour Nothing
- Lyn (7/5): - Property was hard to find - no street name, and no house number? Would have appreciated some warning about the narrow street, and protocol when meeting another car (who had to reverse).
- Kristi (10/5): - Amazing place with great location up the hill and stunning views....Will definitely stay here again if it's available the next time we're in Akaroa!
- Fiona (9/5): -
- Alison (9/5): Home-from-home in a quiet location, in walking distance of the seafront. - Spacious, light & airy with beautiful views. Lots of homely touches.
- ceri (10/5): - The downstairs shower needs to be fixed the head of the shower is loose and not fixed
- Trish (8/5): Very good, plus great weather - always a plus in NZ! - Great views, quiet, easy walk to town. The downstairs bedrooms were not quite up to the overall standard, but still acceptable. This is not a 'didn't like'; just a comparison to the rest of the property.
Akaroa beach is not much of a beach - especially when one is visiting from Queensland. But the scenery around the town and the harbour is spectacular.

- Don (10/5): Great views and everything was perfect. - Great views and spacious. Zero. Maybe have a price for couples and only have access to top half of property. Not a criticism but maybe an opportunity.
- Mark (9/5): Fabulous house with large deck nd amazing view. House was comfortable clean and well stocked. -
- Kevin (9/5): Nice and comfy stay - Nice and comfortable stay. View from the unit was outstanding. Nothing.
- Kristyn (10/5): Spacious, comfortable and perfect for a family or group of people. - Everything was perfect! Lovely house clean and beautiful view! Nothing
- Robin (9/5): great house and view - beds comfy, view great The main bedroom curtains could be improved as were thin so didn't cut much light out - woke up too early! Deck needs some more work. Owners - Would be good for Title of house to be changed - spelling - quiet not quite!! and title very long when people asking where we stayed!
- Val (10/5): Very enjoyable - N/A Nothing perfection would go again, the hostess was extremely helpful
- Janine (9/5): I would defintely book again. - The amazing views of sea, town and night sky. The deck, clean, spacious and generous sized rooms and multiple bathrooms including one near the sitting room/lounge and social areas were great. Parking was easy and steps to the property, short! The hosts were helpful and responsive. The indoor spa would be a hit with many guests. In general the kitchen had everything needed. Nothing really, the property was value for money and perfect for us as three friends and would be perfect for larger groups and families. I did not find a coffee machine which these days I do expect, though nearby cafes serve great coffee. There were no special ‘touches’ such as high quality shampoo, conditioner, body cream, welcome gift or outdoor spa or extra facilities however for this location, and size of property I would expect the price to be higher if they were there.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Kirsten (9/5): Lovely place to stay - spacious, quiet, amazing views -
- Nanette (9/5): Property with great views in a very pretty place. - The views and overall comfort of the property were great. Akaroa was our favourite destination of trip. Bedroom TV did not work, reported but feel owners new the situation and did nothing to fix issue. Do not show items on web site if they are not available to be used.
Also no laundry available.
- Diane (10/5): Akaroa Holiday Home - A beautiful home with a stunning view over the harbour. Very spacious and exceptionally clean and comfortable. Cannot fault.
- Gail (10/5): Nice to walk into a home where the heater was on. Lovely home, great communication. - Nice to walk into a home where the heater was on. Lovely home, great communication. N/a
- Carolyn (10/5): Exceptional - excellent location for views, we enjoyed the 15 min walk down and back up from the harbor though got the heart rate up so might not be for everyone only thing was perhaps the visitor information book could do with an update,
the menus were pretty out of date with pricing, and while easily found on google, we expected to find some info around local walks in the folder
- Paula (8/5): Great location and views over the harbour with wraparound terrace. - Very spacious. Comfortable. Great views. Good value for money. You could say it was a bit dated. But that didn't really bother us.
- Ruth (9/5): Superb -
- Emily (9/5): Gorgeous Relaxing Views - The main living area was spacious, comfortable and had gorgeous views. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need. The deck down stairs needs maintenance and didn't feel safe in some places.
- Janet (9/5): Superb - The house was perfect. The views spectacular. Very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our week. We hope to go back again. Thanks very much. Because I am elderly and a bit disabled, I had trouble with no hand rail on the steps going up to the road. My brother assisted me so still had a great stay.
- Alan (9/5): Superb - Amazing view.
Spacious living areas, bedrooms and deck. Whilst it was a short walk to town the walk up Settlers Hill was a bit of a challenge. Handy car park at the bottom of the hill though.
Couldn't get the louvre remote to work.
- John (9/5): Loved the views and the house is very nice. - The view was spectacular. The cooking facilities were excellent, great to have access to a BBQ. It was really helpful to have a few items in the pantry. No access to laundry facilities. A street sign at the bottom of the street and a clearer house number would have been helpful. Also not sure why the spa in the main bedroom did not work.
- Annette (9/5): Superb - The property had exceptional views over the harbour and town from inside the property and the decks. All rooms were spacious, and all beds were very comfortable. We had everything that we could possibly want with a well-stocked kitchen.
I would stay there again if back in the South Island. The only negative I would say is that we did not have a laundry in the home. After a busy couple of days of sightseeing, it would have been nice to be able to put a load of washing on at premises instead of having to head downtown to the laundromat and waiting around till finished.
- Wayne (9/5): Best views in Akaroa. - Possibly the best views in Akaroa hands down. 2 min to town. Spacious living area with great master bedroom & ensuite. 2 huge decks .Very quiet cul de sac .We love it and will be back.
- Debra (10/5): Short stay at Akaroa, final place of a two week trip around the South Island before heading home. Great way to finish! - It was perfect for us. 3 x retired couples, all very happy with the comfort, cleanliness, convenience & awesome views Nothing to put here!
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional - This house was exceptional, the stuning views over the harbour and bays were out of this world! Comfortable lounge and fully equipped kitchen, all with views as well as deck with outdoor furniture. Very comfortable beds, great shower. Location was perfect. Great communication, Will come back, I loved Akeroa. Nothing to not like.
- N (10/5): Exceptional - Outstanding views of the harbor
Large spacious master bedroom and living room
Quiet and restful No complaints
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely amazing views of the bay watching the colors change everyday was wonderful luxury with location. Absolutely perfect
- Michael (7/5): We loved our stay, and would return. - The house location and view were incredible, and the house was well laid out. Unfortunately, the level of cleanliness was disappointing and the fact there was no washing machine was unexpected for this size of house and costing. The photos also need updating.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - The views were exceptional and well worth the trek up the hill.
- Debbie (8/5): Great place with amazing views, out of the way of the main area but close enough if happy to walk - It's an amazing place with great views, only thing that would have made it better was maybe a couple of sun loungers or lounging cushions for the deck. Slightly out of the way of the main area but close enough if happy to walk up a slope home.
- Julie (8/5): Very good - Fantastic location and beautiful very comfortable house with stunning views. Disappointed that there were no laundry facilities.
- Michele (10/5): Beautiful location, everything you need in the house. We were very sorry to leave and hope to return as soon as we can. - Everything Nothing
- Nicola (10/5): A great few days. - Lots of room. Beautiful views. Clean and comfortable. Well appointed kitchen. Within walking distance of the centre of town. All good
- Brooke (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful views from the deck and well appointed. Great stay!
- Sarah (8/5): Highly recommend this comfortable property - the outdoor deck with amazing views are second to none! - Amazing view and very spacious and comfortable accommodation. Room for the family to spread out. Short walk to town - with a steep climb on the return. Things are a little tired - felt more like staying at a comfy Bach as was a bit of clutter in the kitchen and average cleaning in places.
No fan in bedrooms, was kept awake on our first night by very noisy neighbours (below to the right).
- Keiha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Niki (7/5): Good - View and space spectacular ... great location
Very clean and cleaner (person who looked after house) Francis was helpful when we called We had been tramping for 3 days and on arrival all needed showers.
The night before was 8 people staying who must have all had showers and used hot water.
Owner had been asked by cleaner to take off nught store and this had not been done. No hot water till next morning. Owner not helpful , such a shame as great property
Also no laundry and did not realise this
- Elizabeth (9/5): Loved our stay. Beautiful views and extremely peaceful. Happy to return sometime -
- The (7/5): Great views of the bay, and spacious house - The views from most of the house were stunning. The gardens were very pleasant and provided a nice relaxing aspect. The size of the property was great and allowed all three occupants space to move around and be comfortable. The bathrooms were very nice and spacious The key lock safe was extremely difficult to open each time we used it. The bed in the lower room was not very comfortable and had flannelette sheets which was not very nice. The kitchen cupboards and the oven were not terribly clean.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Very peaceful location and of course superb views Also loved the sunny deck. -
- Belinda (10/5): we had a fantastic time. House was well set up for my elderly mother. - location was fantastic - easy walking distance to town and lovely nearby walking tracks through bush There was nothing not to like
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adam (8/5): Great property, easy for families and quite relaxing - Location and views were awesome There is no washing machine onsite and downstairs rooms are quite cold so more heating may be requires
- Hayley (6/5): Nice views and lots of room - The location and views are amazing. Very comfy beds and couches information related to how to enter the property would be good to have beforehand. We entered via the bottom deck which has holes in it - not safe for a small child. Also would have been good to have the heating on when we arrived as it is a big house to heat - especially in winter.
- Tim (8/5): Very good - So nice coming into a warm house that was opened and welcoming. The bottom deck needs attention.
- Sam (10/5): Amazing and relaxing. Will come back with my family. - The views. Very spacious.
- Sheelagh (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing views and location. Very spacious comfortable house.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Wonderful stay and look forward to stay here again in the soonest future. Thank you - Stunning view and secluded.
Spacious and very comfortable place to stay in.
- Gene (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lyth (9/5): Classy venue for discerning travellers - Loved its position with the whole of the town and harbour area visible from such lofty heights.
The property is wonderful, fantastic bed, beautiful surrounding deck, everything you could possibly want and it is outstanding value for money. The hill up to it, you need transport
- Gordon (8/5): all good - Great location nice warm house
- Scott (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Elena (7/5): Slightly disappointed - Views were amazing Old equipment (kitchen) , water jug was broken, no option to hang any clothing or unpack pads as ALL wardrobes were locked. No deck chairs for relaxing and taking in the beautiful views. No hot water the first night…
- Nancy (9/5): Perfect to stay in as my 2 nephews from USA were with me. - Spectacular view and peaceful street We only had one night, so had no complaints
- Sue (9/5): Great place to stay. - Love this place, suits our family of 3 couples, 1 baby, with its layout and facilities. Comfy beds, lovely views. Had everything we needed. Thank you for sharing this lovely home.
- Todd (8/5): Very good -
