Guest Reviews
- Johann (10/5): - Idyllic homestead with the most caring owners - had a lovely time visiting Tetebatu and its surrounding areas lined with waterfalls and lush nature.
- Sully (8/5): - Very welcome owner, great services and our terrace has fantastic view!
- Schlemmi (10/5): - Super Bungalow. Freundliche Gastgeber. Klasse Lage ! Einfach Topp 😀
- Robyn (8/5): - Satna and family were lovely and her cooking was delicious. What a treat to have jackfruit curry made with a jackfruit from the garden! The room was modest and very clean and the setting is beautiful. If you want to explore the padi fields, it's best to have a local guide so they can show you all the routes between fields and you're contributing to the local economy. Satna and family can arrange this for you, or you can shop around
- Alois (7/5): -
- Roberto (8/5): - Posizione fantastica vicino a monkey forest e cascate Il ristorantino del b&b é migliorabile
- Ben (10/5): - Lovely small bungalows overlooking the valley, rice fields and small creek below. Helpful and friendly hosts who can organise anything you need.
- Lieve (10/5): - We had the hut with patio and it was amazing! Nice hammock too. They also have a restaurant and you should really try the pancake with pineapple it’s amazing!!
- Orly (10/5): Best place, I will be back:-) - I liked every thing!!
Came for 2 days and stayed 7….
- Gloria (9/5): Amazing, would stay again. - So peaceful, with a beautiful rice field. I loved this neighborhood, the owners were so friendly. it was Ramadan when we went but they still cooked for us, the cat bella we talk about everyday, she is too sweet. They are chill and kind people. The room was so cozy, we had the two floor place, and enjoyed watching the sunset with our beers and just relaxing, we almost didn't want to leave to explore it was so nice. The dinner and breakfast were amazing. Just go and feel at peace. We booked the place with the kitchen downstairs, but it hadn't really been cleaned, I think because it was low tourist season and most people don't seem to cook. For example, when I opened the cupboards, it was filled with spiderwebs and spiders, and the cups in the sink were covered in dust and didn't look very clean. Not that we used them anyways.
I think that is my only complaint and reason for 9 stars. Not a big deal, just something we had noticed. If you are worried about noise, the prayers from the mosque are unavoidable and some people may not like it but we found it surreal and very beautiful.
- Sochos (10/5): - Really beautiful and comfortable stay, the tour with Ibrahim highly recommended really the highlight of the trip!
- Anna-Lena (10/5): -
- Inez (8/5): Genoten.
- Tricia (10/5): - We had such a great stay! The cabin was in a perfect location, really cosy with a surprisingly big bathroom. Egol and his family were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the meals they prepared were fantastic. We also went on a tour they organised to the rice terraces, waterfalls and monkey forest – it was an absolute highlight of our trip. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area!
- Wessel (10/5): Geweldig 🤩 - Locatie is fantastisch! N.a.
- Solene (10/5): Parfait !
- Clara (10/5): - Perfect place, Egol is really friendly, so as his family which is super nice, best guide for the rice fields, room and bathroom are very clean, good huge bed, and an extra view on the rice field, thank you so much !
- Jack (10/5): -
- Muñoz (10/5): - Lovely bungalow with great views, nice breakfast and great people
- Joyce (10/5): - So comfortable, relaxing, chill vibe,
- Simon (9/5): 1 day of total relaxation and amazing food, auper friendly hosts - location, bathroom, and the food was amazing nothing
- Judith (10/5): Great value. - This was our second stay at Hide and Seek and will definitely stay again on our next visit if they have a vacancy.
On our last visit to Tetebatu we were unable to stay with them as they were booked out.
Love the fact that they have made improvements to the access by cementing the walkway.
Over the years we have stayed in many accommodation places in Indonesia of varying price ranges.
Hide and Seek offers exceptional value for money in my opinion.
I love the little touches like a full length mirror, hair dryer, hand towel, shampoo and the generous supply of toilet paper, coffee and tea.
Breakfast was delicious and the coffee was good. I also appreciate the cleanliness and presentation of the dinning space.
- Sarah (9/5): Very nice place, cute accommondation, authentic - Very cute huts with a small balcony and a hammock. The huts are in the middle of nature. They are currently upgrading the common area and built some little details around - i'm sure it will look very good.
Very nice staff. The walking tour around the area was also really good and you could learn a lot about the agriculture and the daily living of the people there. Because of the speakers nearby you were often interrupted by prayers or chants. The nature around itself is already loud - so it got a bit much noice with the speakers.
- Rebecca (9/5): - Egol and his family are great hosts and we highly recommend doing a walking tour with him.
Location is beautiful, right in the nature!
- Melanie (7/5): -
- Ana (8/5): -
- Gijs (9/5): Een prima verblijf - Centrale ligging, leuk personeel, lekker eten. Is overal in Tetebatu.
- Biguang (10/5): -
- Jules (10/5): - Superaardige mensen!
- Anna (9/5): - Very silent accomodation with beautiful view in the rice fields. Egol, the host was amazing. A very welcoming man with whom we went on a tour as well. Highly recommend, he explains the culture and tradition so well. The bed was very comfortable. Sometimes ants were walking our faces when we were in bed...
- Maria-Karmela (10/5): -
- Chih Hsien (10/5): - The bed is SO cozy and warm to make me fall asleep immediately. The lighting indoors is elegant and soft. Hot shower available all day. The room is big and well organized. The house barely reaches the sunlight. The shower room becomes to have the smell of damp on the second day.
- Patricia (10/5): BEST place - My BEST place in Lombok!! I dont want to leave my litle House, i have everytime i can dream in a House in the midle of the rice field, sleep with nice of frog.....but the BEST IS to wake Up and see sunrise with Rinjani background.. MORE THAN I EXPECT.
But the day continúe with the SUPER guide Egol, he Saw me all around, profesional taking care, he Saw me many waterfall, rice field, coffe plantations, local neightbourd, and dinner with delicius local spicy food.
Really super recomed That i have to leave
- Lida Panagiota (9/5): -
- Said (10/5): Fantastisch!!! - Alles!!!!
We komen zeker ooit terug.
- Marina (8/5): Authentic stay in Lombok - Beautiful scenery, feel so close to nature, set amongst rice fields. Lovely family running this "homestay", who arranged our transfers and a full day excursions to rice fields/monkey forest/pottery, textile, bamboo making by local people. This is why you come to this part of the island and we will cherish this experience for many years to come. So glad we came to Tetebatu to experience real Lombok. We stayed in villas 1 and 2 as a family of 5 (1 was more comfortable as bathroom more pleasant). Villa 2 had air con although not needed as nights are pleasantly cool even in August. Accommodation quite basic, so two nights felt enough. Bring some noise cancelling headphones, a number of mosques at 5am with very loud call to prayer, before sunrise even, and goes on for a very long time, then again around 7am.
Magnifique Rien
- Amelie (10/5): -
- Marius (10/5): - The cabin is wonderful with amazing views into the jungle. Egol is the kindest of hosts and took us on two fantastic tours through Tetebatu. Highly recommend you stay here! Bring some earplugs if you don't enjoy the prayer calls at 5am.
- Matteo (10/5): -
- John (10/5): Heerlijk huisje in prachtige omgeving.
- Milou (10/5): Unforgettable stay at Hide&Seek - We had the most wonderful 2 night stay in Tetebatu at Hide & Seek. The accommodation was much more than we expected - the cabins are very secluded and spacious, and offer an impeccable view. Meals can be delivered to the room at no cost so you can enjoy them in private if you like. From the balcony we spotted many birds, watched the sunset and even saw monkeys! But the stay was mostly unforgettable due to lovely host Egol. He took us around Tetebatu for a full day for a really fair price and we saw and learned so much; from ricefields and local flora to pottery, weaving and bamboo workshops. We will never forget our time at Hide and Seek! Being secured also means more insects, which is to be expected in this area. Fortunately for us it only meant a few ants inside and a caterpillar on the doorstep.
- Daniel (9/5): Superb -
- Ben (9/5): Great setting and fantastic guided hikes - In middle of lush jungle setting with views over valley. Did a walking tour with Hirman which is a must-do. Learned and saw so much.
- Aubrey (9/5): Great place! - Great location, excellent views, clean, bright, decent breakfast. Quiet except for the nearby mosques, but that’s basically everywhere in rural Lombok. Would have been nice to have the room swept a time or two during our three night stay. Having a water dispenser on the property would help reduce plastic bottles.
- Birk (10/5): We stayed for 3 nights in the beautiful Bungalow. The food was very delicious and the hosts were so friendly and nice. H -
- Leslie (10/5): We came as visitors and left as family - We stayed for four days at Hide and Seek and it was an unforgettable experience from the moment we arrived. During the month of Ramadan, they were taking care of us in particular, as they gave us breakfast and suhoor with love and generosity, something we were pleased with and made us feel as one family, especially as a traveler, but it made our experience warmer and more humane. Once you got there, you will meet the person who We received his name Egoul was very kind, and everything was comfortable for us in the room, from helping us carry the bags to the last time. The house was clean and comfortable, and provided everything we needed. The atmosphere is fantastic with a touch of Indonesian culture and the picturesque nature. I highly recommend this. The place, especially for those who want to experience the real Indonesian hospitality. Thanks to the wonderful family that hosted us, and we hope to come back again
- Kamil (8/5): Very good -
- Ushma (9/5): A place to remind us of nature’s abundant gifts - Egol and his family took such good care of us. This simple beautiful village captured our hearts as did the people we met. We had the most astounding tour of the area thanks to Egol’s knowledge. It was really such an easy, relaxed and yet jam packed day. We are so grateful for this wonderful experience!
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raga (10/5): Everything was completely perfect in this places - It’s Amazing places
- Jenny (9/5): We really recommend staying here:) - Such a cool place! You really get the authentic Lombok experience here. All the locals are so nice! The staff gets an honorable mention. We ordered food a few times, and they even brought it to our room❤️ And the host, Egol, was really great. He took great care of us! We got an awesome tour for a really good price where he showed us plenty of what Tetebatu had to offer - and with a great attitude and great humor! A really good conversation partner:) We got some ants on our bed, but that is to expect when you’re in the middle of the jungle. Also isn’t much isolation from sound (insects and prayer calls), but bring a pair of earplugs if you need and you’ll be fine!
- John (2/5): Not the experience we were expecting. - the staff were excellent hosts, and provided fruit on arrival, and helped with translation and taxi bookings. breakfast was delivered to our balcony, along with anything else we requested. we cut our 4 night booking short as the air conditioning was not cooling, only fan. we were offered an additional fan but declined.
there was no hot water in the shower, this was looked at but not rectified.
another cabin was being built next door so much hammering going on, and adjacent workers played loud music all day so not really the peaceful jungle setting we were looking forward to.
our host did arrange a scooter as requested but we returned it as the front tyre had no tread on it.
we also had a huge huntsman spider in the room, but we are in the jungle after all.
- Kathrin (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and helpful staff. Good price for value. Very nice and new bungalow. Quiet and good food. We can just recommend to stay there! Nothing.
- Ella (8/5): Very good - Very large and spacious room & bathroom with a balcony. Peaceful and quiet. Did a walking tour with Egol. Was great and saw amazing waterfalls. Egol also organised a driver to Kuta.
- Robbie (8/5): Very good -
- Thomas (9/5): Superb - Amazing location in a green environment, and nice views among the best in Tetebatu especially at this price range(sub 200k). Wifi, hot shower, beautiful interior. Food is delivered to the door and very tasty. Communication with staff is professional and efficient. Hard to be disappointed here. I would normally give this accommodation a 10 but it should be known that during our time staying there, at night time, scratch sounds were heard from the roof, interrupting out sleep. Whether the sounds came from a bird arranging its nest, from a mouse or some other animal is not known, but they should look into it as soon as possible and make it go away.
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- Bettina (2/5): Not recommended - The view of the rice fields were nice and the nature vibes Very dated, mould in bathroom, mouldy ugly yellow old pillows mould spots on mattress cover.
Very hard mattress, aircon didn’t work. Strange smell in room.
Don’t know who all the good ratings made…
Was one of my terriblest stays ever. Not recommended.
- Riza (9/5): Good value with the best service. - Special mention must be made rhdg the hospitality of Egol and Yanti. They became our friends during our stay there. We recently returned to hide n seek for the 2nd time. Maybe the lack of daily housekeeping. But it is not a big deal.
- Judie (10/5): We love visiting this area of Tetebatu. We were very pleased when we saw our accommodation. A new business that the owne - Great position, close to the monkey forest and surrounded by rice fields. There was nothing to not like.
- Jeffrey (8/5): I loved the room it's as good as the pictures online - I loved the room and the beautiful gardens with a rain Forrest feeling, chickens roaming around and the welcoming family, Egol the owner speaks excellent English and arranged a driver for a whole day tour in Tetebatu and the following day a transportation to kuta beach Lombok, he also asked if I'd like to share my trip to kuta beach with another solo traveller wanting to go there the same morning so that was great as we shared the cost of transport and chatted on the way about different places we've been to and exchanged Instagram's.
I regret only booking one night and trying to extend later as I wanted to see accommodation first before booking more nights, I managed to get another night directly from Egol he was great and shuffled things around so I could stay in the same room so I didn't waste time changing rooms. When I arrived Egol wasn't there and the family has limited English so it's difficult to communicate, you don't get bottled water as part of the room rate you can buy a large bottle water for 10,000 rupiah which I spoke to Egol about and mentioned that guests usually get bottled water each day as part of the room rate. Also there wasn't a menu of breakfast options included in the room rate there was a good menu at the room of what you can purchase as extra food and drinks so that was great.
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional - Incredibly quiet. You can leave the shades open at all times because it's 100% private. Wake up to the sounds of birds and the glorious sun. Private patio with hammock. Bed is very comfortable. Great facilities.
- Tuuli (10/5): Cozy bungalows in a perfect location - Cozy bungalows in a perfect location with amazing nature views. Bed was big & very comfortable!
Also the food from the menu & breakfast were tasty and overall the vibes were superb! Highly recommended!
- Chris (9/5): A special getaway off the beaten track. Egol made the difference on our trip. - The food here was the best we had on the trip. Was home cooked and really tasty. Egol took us out to visit some villages on mopeds and it was a really great day. We also went out for a hike through the monkey forest with him which was also great. A lot cleaner in Tetebatu than it was around Sembulan, still some rubbish at the side of the road but nothing excessive. Beautiful outlook in the back of the cottage.
- Wilms (10/5): Exceptional - We had the best holiday at hide and seek. We were traveling as a family with our 1 year old daughter. She had the best time playing with the local children, they were all very lovely.
Our host Egol was super accommodating and his family is lovely. The food they provided was amazing! We managed to try all the dishes on the menu. We are definitely coming back in a couple of years. The boys who worked there gave us some tours that we could easily do with the baby.
"Uncle" gave us a ride to and from the accommodation and had snacks and water ready for us.
The view from our room was amazing and it was very relaxing sitting on the balcony.
It's a lovely accommodation!
- Dimitra (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely fantastic in every aspect. Picturesque location by the ricefields, beautiful woden cabin and an elegantly decorated bathroom.
Egol is an excellent host and a great tour guide who made sure we had the best time with them. His sister is an excellent cook as well!
I' d rate this accomodation with 11 if I could.
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ces (10/5): Best relaxing place - It’s a home away from home, with your own private view and access of the valley. Rice terraces, waterfalls. A quick 5 min walk from monkey forest. The owner, his family, and pretty much the whole community are super hospitable and helpful.
- Marah (10/5): Exceptional - Sooo great! The place and the people were just amazing. We would have stayed longer if we could.
Igol even have us a 4 hour tour which was so authentic and interesting also the food there was awesome. Nothing!
- Bui (10/5): Everything perfect - Stunning view of the rice fields and the forest from our bungalow. No noise of the street or the neighboring bungalows at all. The staff was just lovely, always responding quickly and extremely helpful with everything. They even brought all our meals to our veranda. And our child could play with the other children from this village, so everything perfect.
- Tony (10/5): Exceptional - An excellent, peaceful, and enjoyable stay, in a lush location with river/jungle view, just a short walk to the monkey forest.
- Veerle (8/5): Very good - A small but very cute room with an amazing view
- Jack (10/5): Excellent - Lovely view of the rice fields. Super comfortable bed. Dinner and breakfast delivered right to the room. Feels really tucked away and like you’re in your own space. 100% recommend. Also a good place to start the hike up mount rinjani from the south side (which is slightly easier than the north).
- Joana (8/5): Tetebatu is a place to visit! - The location and the view are amazing. The satff, especially Egol, ate really nice and welcoming! They gave us a huge and very appreciated support to visit a local doctor, when in need. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, although a better ventilation in the bathroom would improve it a lot! Overall the bungalow would benefit of a refreshment.
- Sergio (10/5): Out of a Fairytale - Unbelievable place. The bungalow is simple but beautiful with everything you need. The landscape and the view of the jungle and the rice field from the room are just marvelous. They brought our breakfast and dinner to the bungalow. It was so good we had to extend for extra nights until there was no more availability :')
- David (10/5): Great value, beautiful surrounding with sound of water running in the background. - Very friendly owners, cooking Sahur for us every night. Not pushy on selling tours etc. which I personally find annoying. Just genuine nice people. Place is connected to the main road. Warm water, watercooker, hairdryer available. Oh, and a huuuge bed. One of the best places in Tetebatu. I recommend fixing the jetspray of the toilet. It's leaking, and I hear the water is on all the time.
- Sam (10/5): Book it - Beautiful spot, unbelievable value, the women who work there are lovely, cook really tasty food and would even bring us fruits like durian from the trees to try.
Would definitely recommend There is noise from the mosques nearby but luckily they aren't too close so it's not very loud tbh.
- Yasmin (10/5): Lovely staff and amazing view - The staff is extremely nice, the view on the rice terraces was amazing Everything was perfect
