Guest Reviews
- Jennie (7/5): Quiet location.good facilities - Quiet location within racing stables. 5 mins drive from lovely Stockbridge. The bathroom needs re decorating. although the shower was very powerful.
- paula (5/5): Stop off for attending a Wedding - The space in the property was good and a lovely location in the country . The property needs a complete renovation and deep clean and although it seems petty as there was 6 of us we needed 6 mugs - there were only 3 so had to alternate coffee
- Petra (10/5): -
- Rachel (7/5): Stayed before, would recommend! - Lovely location, good size rooms, stayed before. Nothing.
- Madame Batman (8/5): Enjoyed staying there. - The animals The spiders
- Terence (8/5): If you want a tranquil, peaceful location I would recommend this property. - It was a nice peaceful location The grill pan in the cooker
- Daniel (9/5): An Unforgettable Father-Son Fishing Week at The Stud House! - Absolutely exceptional! My dad and I picked The Stud House at Danebury for a father-son fishing trip, and it was the perfect choice. Tucked away in the historic Danebury Racing Stables, this holiday home offers a truly unique escape.
The house itself was clean, charming, and felt instantly like home. It was spacious enough for us to spread out, and the living area was cozy for unwinding after long days. We particularly appreciated the excellent washing machine, which was a huge bonus for our fishing gear! Comfortable beds ensured we were well-rested for early starts on the water.
The owner made our trip seamless and enjoyable, giving us the information required beforehand and always reachable.
The setting is just magical, waking up to stable views and surrounded by hundreds of acres of gallops and farmland. It's so peaceful and quiet – exactly what we needed. Plus, Stockbridge, Salisbury, and Winchester are all close by for when we weren't on the river.
We're already planning our next trip. If you're looking for a tranquil, charming getaway with top-notch amenities and an incredibly helpful owner, The Stud House is an absolute gem! The bathroom, while not a major issue, had a few points for improvement. The showerhead was partly blocked, which unfortunately increased the water pressure and made showering harsher than desired. Additionally, the sink lacked a plug, making shaving more difficult, and the overall decor appeared worn.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - What a beautiful home! The kitchen/dining area is the perfect place for doing everything! Exactly what we wanted as a group of friends who don't see each other often and wanted to enjoy being together! The beds are comfy and the place is very clean! You'll really be surprised on entry! Though I also fell in love with the Stud House itself. Beautiful garden area to relax too! We're looking forward to another stay and a guided tour to meet all the wonderful animals x thankyou
- Rachel (7/5): Beautiful location - Lovely house, beautiful location.
- Andy (8/5): Very good -
- Barry (8/5): Very good -
- Andy (10/5): Perfect - Everything it was all perfect. Nothing
- Catherine (7/5): Nice stay but could be improved in some areas - The property is in a great location. There were horses and donkeys outside playing which was lovely. The beds are really comfortable and everything that we needed was there. There were some things that were dirty. The downstairs toilet had lots of spiders, some of which were dead and had not been cleared away. The front outside windows needed cleaning and you could not really see out of them. The side of the shower and upstairs towel rail had not been cleaned properly and the upstairs toilet made a lot of noise as the water trickled after every flush. There was no WiFi code in the book left and the book advised that there were games in the house but we didn’t see any. The glasses were really thin and 2 broke really easily when we tried to clean them.
- Tony (9/5): Superb - How clean and peaceful it is. I honestly couldn't fault it for the price.
- Tony (9/5): Superb - How clean it was and how peaceful and quiet it is, a great break. Be it business or holiday. No dramas with the owner easy check in and all facilities provided. I've already booked again
- Andy (8/5): Ideal location for a peaceful getaway from the daily routine. - Great location, nice and peaceful. Large property with great facilities. Cobwebs 😂 - but it is in the middle of the countryside.
- Sally (10/5): What a hidden gem! - Great place for our needs, peaceful and roomy. We were cycling the King Alfred's Way and it was particularly helpful the house had a washing machine for our kit.
Could have stayed longer quite happily, whole group agreed it was our nicest stop of the tour. Not so much we didn't like but it's remote and we didn't have a car, no Ubers will not pick up from there and no food delivery available so had to cycle into Stockbridge (3.6 miles) to get food from Co op for tea. Not a negative as such but mentioning in case anyone else is cycling rather than traveling by car and can plan better than we did?
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deborah (9/5): Excellent stay - thanks! - Very nice house with everything one could possibly need. Lovely and quiet in a beautiful setting. Nice big bedrooms. Great coffee machine and excellent shower! Robert was very helpful and the horses in the fields were beautiful. Directions were easy to follow. We were the first guests in the house after its renovation and we were very pleased with our stay. We felt privileged to be the first. It would have been nice to have received the instructions for getting into the house a little earlier, as one cannot always access information when exiting another stay as easily as one would hope.
The house will feel a bit more lived in once it has had a few more guests but was obviously newly renovated and could have done with maybe a few more pictures - but this was a very minor thing.
