- Robyn (9/5): - The Book Shop was the most perfect place to stay in Robe.
Steeped in history, quaint, close to shops and beach..
Can recommend the lobster platter at Skye Seafoods. Loved everything but a TV would have been great . Will absolutely recommend the Book Shop to my friends and family..
Very clean, well stocked, large outdoor veranda area.
- Kevin (9/5): May we suggest additional cooking pots for pasta - Homely Ambience, space, location and canine welcoming committee. The bedding was very comfortable .
- Norman (10/5): A true original, well done. - We loved everything about The Bookshop.
This is something you dont get to see to often. Renovated modestly leaving the perfection of the natural matrials to do the job they have been doing for over 180, leaving you feeling warm & cosy. With a very original eye for style and detail that leaves you feeling you could be anywhere in the world.
Kudos to you, jj. We would love to come back.

Huge bed/living space. Bathroom. Very small , Shower base leaking that was followed up by manager quickly.

- judy (9/5): Enjoyed the well decorated and thought out space . Everything was there . Well located and instructions for check in wer - Beautiful cottage which is very comfortable and in a great location. N/a
- Annie (10/5): - Gorgeous cosy cottage with so much character, so many thoughtful touches and close to lots of nice cafes and restaurants.

- Jankees (9/5): Great place, very central, full of character - A large cottage with a colourful history in the centre of Robe. Full of character and very well located for anyone who does not want to use a car. Everything in Robe is in easy walking distance, beach just across the street. The kitchen is well equiped for making a meal and has a good size fridge. If you want a super modern place with the latest tech, do not go, but if you like a bit of character and enjoy a quaint place with access to a nice garden, it is perfect. Nothing much in terms of the cottage itself. The bookshop is in the centre of Robe, so it is not just the seagulls you are hearing. Street noise is not overwhelming though.
- Sue Kearon (9/5): Quirky, interesting and great location - Location was perfect. Room was large, quirky and beautifully decorated. Bed was very comfortable, kitchen supplied well, but needs a microwave. Didn’t miss the TV. Bathroom probably a bit of an afterthought
- Natacha (9/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): Great place to stay close to the beach in Robe - was ideal for a refreshing stop off on a long trip. - Old world charm in heritage building.
Very close to beach and Robe town centre restaurants.
Very spacious. Games and copius books available.
On site parking Nothing really.
- Bronte (8/5): Enjoyable and comfortable in a central location in town - Old world charm. Large living area and separate kitchen. Parking on site next to room. Lovely private gardens outside A bit close to the local hotel who seemed to having a party there that night as they were noisy in to the late hours. Bed just had a quilt/blankets that kept being pulled to one side. Curtain rail not securely fixed and fell off and curtains s not blackout do outside lights shone throiugh
- Ann (9/5): Great stay - Quirky , huge , beautiful garden , private , everything there for your needs
- Andrew (8/5): All the shops, eateries and supermarket were within walking distance.were within - It was quaint and very close to Pubs Restaurants and Cafes. The beach was just across the road.
- Edward (9/5): After a stressful couple of months to spend time in a wonderful historic and well presented house su - The location made it easy to walk for beaches and attractions. The Book shop was wonderfully presented. Loved the decor and the bed.
- Kim (10/5): -
- Sylvia (10/5): Beautiful place to stay - The Book Shop is an absolutely delightful place to stay, and learning about its history on arrival makes the experience even more special. It is fully equipped with everything one could want and need and extremely comfortable, with no tv - bliss!! There is absolutely nothing to dislike.
- Stephen (7/5): Cosy and charming - The location is fantastic, right on the Main Street near the pubs and cafes, but still so quiet and peaceful and can hear the ocean at night. It is a charming place, very historic, cosy and tastefully decorated.
The host kindly let us have an earlier check in. We didn’t use the wood heater but the split system kept the place warm enough. For the price we paid of nearly $500 for two nights (also during the quiet session) I’d say it’s a little too rustic.
The bathroom is basic and the shower leaks into the kitchen. The curtains are not blockout, and there is a piece of wood on the glass front door to stop the Venetian blind being fully lowered, which we could not understand.
It also doesn’t have a tv which would have been a nice option to have, as with a small baby going to the pub at night to watch the football is not an option.
- JONATHAN (10/5): - Very comfortable, wood fire, close to pubs, cafes, beach, totally unique
- Rhonda (10/5): Just a beautiful place to stay close to the beach and Main Street - Booking, messages before arriving, directions, key box, made arriving all super easy for us. Loved the decor, layout, location, books, magazines, COFFEE, all beautiful. Just an FYI, we couldn’t get the shampoo and conditioner pumps to pump. Worked round that, not a dislike as much as just letting you know. Loved everything.
- Anne (10/5): A warm welcoming haven- especially for every booklover! - Everything was absolutely lovely! Stepping in through the sidedoor was like arriving in Narnia<3 Cozy still spacious, a fireplace and BOOKS!! Everything we could ask for during a storm in Robe! The bed was also super comfortable and the excellent communication with our kind host made everything easy. A great pub just across the street was also most appreciated. Can’t wait to return!
- Jennifer (8/5): Very pleasant - Great location Needs a tv
- Anita (7/5): Great historic place to stay. - Property for perfectly located and historic.
Beautiful designed. Strange smell that was quite overwhelming unfortunately.
- Claudia (10/5): Unforgettable and unique, the Book Shop is a beautifully decorated home from home. - Very rarely do you find such an exceptional, beautiful place as this. The minute you walk in the door you feel at home. The interior is simply beautiful. We lit the fire and used the music speaker- a perfect evening, and everything is on hand to make your stay special. Previous reviews of Robe had been disappointing, but we thought it was a great little town with a stunning beach and several nice places to eat, plus a decent pub. In total, our stay at the Book Shop has been a highlight of our month in Australia and we would love to return one day. Definitely recommend. Nothing.
- Leyla (10/5): Would recommend. Beautiful place to stay right in there centre of town - So stunning. Every detail was perfect. Can’t fault it
- Glenn (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (9/5): Lovely town , will return in the summer. - Quirky, comfortable, decor, and of course the “ wood burner “. No TV, but as we had a laptop and wifi was good, so not a big issue.
- Bianca (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful cozy getaway. It was perfect for us. Waking distance to everywhere. Nothing!
- Hannah (5/5): we have spent 10 nights away and other places costing the same price were exceptional in comparison - location great Pillows smelt very bodily, and we couldn't use them
the bathroom wasn't very clean
toiletries were substandard
there was a leaking water urn in kitchen
- Jv (9/5): Very enjoyable stay in quaint and character-filled historic cottage. - The property was very spacious with oodles of character, lovely fire place, host was very responsive to requests during our stay. well stocked kithen area. The bathroom is a little snug cold & worn.
- Tracey (9/5): Loved this property, very relaxing, right across the road from a great pub, would happily stay a week here - Awesome history and beautifully furnished, quirky and relaxing vibe.
Most comfortable bed ever! Very dark in the bathroom, we had to change one of the light bulbs to make it bright enough to use at night, and extra bright build in there would make a big difference
- Pauline (9/5): Superb - Gorgeous accommodation with everything you need for an enjoyable comfortable stay!
Fabulous location
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Kristina (10/5): Very relaxing by the fire on a wild and wooly evening in Robe ☺️ - Lovely well considered and appointed accommodation . . very comfortable, we’ll definitely visit again! Nothing
- Cheryl (8/5): Very good - Very spacious and yet cozy with loads of character and charm
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful cosy cottage with log fire very relaxing lots of books to read The Bed was very comfortable pillows and Quilt good Quality close to everything Resturants pub , you can cook in the kitchen which has everything you need
- Cherie (8/5): Historic Cottage - gorgeous historical cottage - great location - parking - walking distance to restaurants/supermarkets - we didnt use the fire but added bonus on a frosty night
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the space, it was super cosy and comfortable. Beautiful decor and design. Great location too. Would definitely recommend.
- Lynette (7/5): Very satisfied - It was charming and quaint. Some very quirky bits. Took a while to get the fire going because the grate wasn’t cleaned from a previous fire and not enough kindling. It was easy enough to keep warm though.
Location was great.
We walked across the road to the Caledonian Inn and got seafood chowder for dinner which was delicious. There was no microwave but that went with the theme of the property. Seemed a shame to start such a huge oven just to warm something up.
- Jane (8/5): Character cottage! - Very comfortable and quiet! Great location!
Character cottage ! Would recommend!
- Maria (9/5): Loved everything, hosts were very attentive to our needs. - Loved the restoration and decor of the property, it was so cosy & comfortable. The bed & bedding was wonderful, having a wood heater was a bonus. Loved it all. Location was great. Loved the resi We were happy with everything.
- Kate (10/5): Exceptional -
- P (9/5): A beautiful space in an amazing location -
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Marita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jenny (7/5): A beautiful cosy cottage that needs some work. - We really both liked the feel of the place, the furnishings and decor in line with the antiquity. However we felt exposed to people in the surrounding property and garden. The only widow coverings were flimsy clear curtains. At night we were attacked by mosquitos so window screens would be good and some general maintenance on everything wouldn't hurt.
- Dianne (9/5): Fabulous accommodation in the centre of Robe - We enjoyed the location near eateries and walks. The space was fabulous with comfortable chairs and settees.Lots of reading material as suggested by the name. Sadly on the night of our stay we had the company of numbers of mosquitoes. Didn’t find the repellent until the morning 😒
- Mark (8/5): Thanks to Charlie & Lulu....great hosts ! - Location to all services was great . Great atmosphere & ambiance
- J (8/5): Very good -
- Diane (10/5): Charming serenity but a few steps from everything - The book shop was charming. JJ has renovated it in such a beautiful and eclectic manner. We felt so relaxed in this space. It was very spacious and looked out onto a beautiful garden. And it was a very short walk to the beach and lots of dining options
- Leigh (10/5): It was the break I needed in every way. - I loved the cottage feel, it was also roomier than I expected. It was quiet and I could walk out the door and my voice of eateries was right there. I loved everything about it.
- Shelley (7/5): Good -
- Lara (9/5): Highly recommend -
