Guest Reviews
- Sonja (8/5): -
- Sonja (9/5): Een prachtige ervaring - De locatie was fantastisch.
Gratis ontbijt.
- Grecut24 (5/5): Terrible Check in experience (twice) - The room is nice. I had booked there on two separate days. For the first time, I had informed of my arrival time in advance via Booking. When I arrived, there was absolutely no one anywhere in site. I contacted all the ways I could. After a while I checked myself in after identifying the room myself. I let this one slide. Things can happen. At my second stay days later (which I had already booked), I had also informed of my check-in time. When I arrived, there was someone on site,. He was surprised to see someone. When I got to my room at 15:20, it was still dirty. They asked me for less an hour to clean ot was cleaned in 30 min. Let's say I was very unpleased, especially since I had been dreaming of AC and a shower since I had been four days in the jungle . Then I had no electricity a big part of the evening (not their fault). In the morning, no water (I think their supply is faulty. I needed my breakfast before 8 since someone was pinking me up at that time. They were slow the first time at my first stay, so the second time I anticipated. I left my room at 7:20, but no one around. At 7:30, I saw someone. I explained I needed breakfast soon, by 7:50. I still received the most simple, less appetizing omelette ever at 8:05.
- Lilly (10/5): - That was one of the best times I’ve had with the staff of an accommodation :) They always drove us everywhere and were super respectful and open. There’s nothing to complain about regarding the accommodation — it was very well maintained and aesthetically beautiful. The breakfast was absolutely delicious
- Monique (8/5): -
- Feike (10/5): -
- Lara (10/5): - Bayu and his team were so friendly. They showed me around and helped me with organizing everything. What an unique Jungle experience. Next time I would stay longer.
- Georgia (8/5): -
- Marta (8/5): Very nice and peaceful accommodation - The atmosphere, location (very peaceful), nature! We couldn’t wake up the staff for breakfast, so we had to serve ourselves.
- Chirsteen (3/5): Swampland and dismissive staff - The property had working AC and that was probably the best feature of this bungalow - Location: the road to get to the property is very narrow and unpaved. At some point, the road ends for cars and you have to walk yourself to the bungalow. Difficult to reach and not even close to restaurants on the river. The area is very swampy.
- Cleanliness: or lack thereof. The bungalow was very dusty and had spider webs on the ceiling. The mosquito net was filthy and I could tell that it was never washed. Sheets and towels had strange smell. Hand washing soap was not provided. When I asked the staff 3 times to clean and supply soap, they NEVER did it, acknowledged it or apologized for it.
- functionality: the floor made noise, the bathroom floor was made of pebble rocks and some larger stone, this is very dangerous and can easily cause someone to fall and break their teeth or leg.
- Bathroom: was pretty much almost unusable. There is no hot water in the shower and at some point during a shower, the water stopped. The toilet was so low to the ground that we basically had step on 2 different stones, and squat really low to use it.
- breakfast: one day they claimed that the market ran out of toast. They took an hour to prepare breakfast on both days, the banana pancake and scrambled eggs was toast was almost not consumable and ended up hurting my stomach for the rest of the day.

Bett sehr bequem.
- Kljun (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were really helpful in organizing everything and carrying out the trek and made sure we were as comfortable as possible, easy going and safe.
Our guide was a walking encyclopedia and my son loved him. He didn't want to leave the forest.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely property and comfortable room, but you'll need a ride into town.
- Adrien (8/5): Very good - Very cute room and nice bathroom. We had a great time there. Food was good and homemade The location of the homestay was very far from town and when it rains you can’t do anything except stay there. Also no hot shower but that was ok
- Laura (10/5): Magical time in the jungle - Everything.
The location, the rooms are beautiful, the nature, the super friendly people, the food. Everything is great.
I didn’t take a picture of the room, only a video, which I can’t upload, but I would recommend everyone to go here and I’d definitely go back there one day. Nothing I didn’t like.
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional - The activities and guiding were fabulous. The team looked after us so well and we saw so many different animals (orangutans, gibbons, siamung, Thomas leaf monkey, macaques, a number of different squirrels, Slow Loris, Palm civet, Sunda Leopard Cat, Forest Tortoise, Rhinoceros Hornbill, lots of frogs and snakes on the night walks as well as a couple of owls, plus bats in the bat cave)
- Tapan (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent stay in this beautiful and cosy lodge (only 2 cottages, so you feel very private). The most polite and friendly staff and extremely helpful and available at all times. Highly recommend if visiting with family or solo! We didn't order their food since we are vegetarians and had young kids with their dietary needs, but that was not an issue at all as they kindly let us use their kitchen for preparing our meals. The cottage itself was spacious and clean. Jungle trek and transport was also arranged promptly and the prices were very competitive. Thank you Bayu, JaJang, Henry, nDaka and the rest of the team for a memorable stay!
- Gergely (10/5): Exceptional - This a small property, only with two rooms. Really enjoyed it’s charm outside of the business of the village of Bukit Lawang. The owner Bayu and his staff were great, prepared great food and drinks and they help you with anything if needed.
- Ralf (10/5): Best accommodation to start jungle trekking and organize to proceed travel on Sumatra! - Nicely located in rice fields and with fish ponds. Bayu is an excellent host. He organized everything (airport transfer, overland tour to Lake Toba, jungle trekking) very well. We would like to emphasize the lovely, experienced and super-supportive jungle trek team with Jajang, Dony and Henry. While Janang is very knowledgeable and showed us 7 Orang Utans, some Thomas Leaf‘s Monkeys and Brown-handed Gibbons, Dony and Herny, did everything to take my almost blind wife by their hands and guided her 6 hours through the jungle. They paid as much attention, that she did not stumble and fall.
Bayu recommended to skip going south to Bukkitinggi and Padang in rainy saison and consider visiting Pulau Weh/Sabang. We followed his recommendation and it was an unique experience! Terima Kasih Bayu! Nothing - all was perfect
- Enrico (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful style
- Kateryna (10/5): An adventure between the jungle and rice fields - Amazing stay in Bukit Lawang! Could not have imagined it being any better :) The rooms were spacious and clean, we stayed in both rooms and both were great! The cheaper room has a garden view and the more expensive one the view onto the rice fields, which was a really nice bonus. Wifi worked well all the time. The guesthouse is located 10-15 mins walking time to the village, where you find a supermarket and a few warungs, where you can get a tasty and very cheap dinner. We didn't find the location problematic, rather nice as we were out in the quiet :) All the staff was always extremely friendly and helpful! They all together with the host Bayu made us feel more like family or close friends rather than just guests, which made it difficult to leave the place! We also booked a 2-day jungle trekking with Bayu - our guides were Jipour and Ali - awesome experience with lots of information and great fun, incl. spotting big and small animals, and, of course, orangutans :) Highly recommended! :) That we had to move further and leave this amazing place :(
- Adele (8/5): Ok stay outside of Bukit Lawang with great staff. - Very quiet location which we liked with good views.
Staff especially Ali amazing!
They organised a trip for us to see orangutans which was good.
Breakfast and coffee good. You need to be prepared to ride a motorbike everywhere (no helmet provided). Felt little isolated and had to rely on the kind guys to drop us into town on their bikes and pick us up. Only found out on the last day you could flag down tuk tuk at the end of the track (10 mins walk) but this was so hard to do.
Accommodation basic lots and of insects but suppose nature of environment. Cold water shower.
Power and water out for 12 hours or more.
For the price good value for money.
- Angie (9/5): Lovely huts among the rice fields - The room was lovely. The staff were kind and friendly. The track into the property is long and bumpy. I was riding my motorbike in teeming rain, which made it more difficult. I believe the guys at the hut will come out collect you from the road. Shower was only cold water. I had to wake up the staff each morning to get hot water for my coffee.
- Valeria (10/5): Relax and rice field views - This place has a wonderful view of the rice fields.
It is very quite and a few km away from the main area so on the streets to reach the hotel you get to see how local people really live.
The staff is very friendly and pro active they organized the trekking (we got to see two huge orangutan!!!) for us and all the transfers we needed. They speak English very well and they bring you with the bike wherever you want.
The bungalow is lovely and clean.
I would return for sure.
Don’t miss it! Everything was perfect
- Alexandra (10/5): Lovely stay. Will definitely stay here again. - The room was super cute and clean. The view of the rice fields was beautiful. The staff was beyond accommodating and treated us like family. I’m very grateful to have found this place.
- Danica (10/5): Exceptional - wonderful accommodation and very friendly hosts that positively surprise. Jipur and Bagus and the rest go out of their way to make you happy.
- Hidup (10/5): Amazing location with beautiful people surrounding.
Best experience ever - The most beautiful people i ever stayed with
And beautiful room with an amazing atmosphere
Quite and peaceful, the bed so comfortable the bathroom with really nice decorations and good shower and it was super clean and well decorated. To get to this bungalow really easy access and you can get something good in super market (indomaret)just about 5 minute away with scooter,
The view of the ricefield and the green surrounding is just what I looking for.
They organize my jungle trekking with the best guide (jipur, aji and bagus)for 3 days 2 night
Which is so great and fun
So much knowledge of the jungle, animals and medical plants.
Thank you very much for everything
We will definitely come back jungle brothers
Best regard
Liam & Julie
- Joyce (10/5): Breath-taking view and enchanting atmosphere - your perfect refuge! - This accommodation exceeds my wildest expectations completely. It offers a breathtaking view over the rice-fields, which truly is amazing. Every morning, I took the time to meditate in the attic of the meeting place. The cottage itself is truly beautiful and has a small bridge over a pond filled with stunning fish.
It has almost a Japanese atmosphere. Gorgeous!
In addition, the staff is always ready with a big smile and they are available all day to help.
In the morning, a wonderful breakfast is prepared for me with great care, everything taken care of doen to the smallest detail.
Moreover, I can work well here thanks to excellent WiFi connection. I also slept wonderfully here; the bed has a comfortable mattress and there is a great fan available.
Within walking distance, you will find various shops along an excellent road, so everything is easily accessible. If I needed something, they quickly arrange it by scooter or they bring and pick me up without hesitation. I am absolutely 100% planning to come back here and would recommend this place to anyone. Nothing to dislike!
- Elina (10/5): Exceptional - Me and my friend stayed here just one night but wish we could have stayed longer! Before this we stayed a couple nights in the centre of the village Bukit Lawang which is nice but can get quite loud with construction and people. We highly recommend this place if you want a more private and calm place to stay but still near the village centre.
The room is new, very comfortable and fully equipped. The view of the rice field is absolutely gorgeous. There is also free wifi and data connection. Convenience stores and local street food warungs are just a 10min walk away from the hut, or you can also pay for a motorbike if you don’t feel like walking. You can also walk to the centre of Bukit Lawang (around 30min) or take motorbike (10min).
The staff here is so kind and accommodating. They make amazing breakfast (we loved the banana pancakes) and tend to all other possible needs. The owner really did his all to make our stay comfortable. He always wanted to make sure that we were ok and that we had everything we needed.
Thank you so much Bayu and all of the staff!
- Jaclyn (3/5): Secluded, disappointing stay. - Private and quiet. The main issue with this place is that it’s so secluded. It’s a dangerous dirt road at least 15 minutes walking to the main road or a 5 minute scooter if you dare to drive on it.
We communicated with the owner before arrival and were assured of good wifi and there was air conditioning on this booking listing. Neither were true, and we had paid for a 10 day stay.
When deciding to leave the owner was rude and disrespectful. Refused to give us even one day refund and resold the room to other guests.
I wouldn’t recommend this stay for more than one night, you literally can’t get anywhere. And the owner treated us very poorly in the end.
We ended up moving to the river (central) where we had access to food/necessities, and even saw orangutans from our balcony.
Also, previous 5 star review on here is from his German girlfriend…
- Linda (10/5): Unvergesslich moment - GREAT STAY AND EXPERIENCE EVER
We would like to thanks to Bayu, aji and the Team for the incridable Job,
It was amazing time in bukit Lawang.
The place so cozy, quite and New.
Breakfast was so good
We do private jungle trekking for 3 days with them,Bayu has so much knowlodge about the jungle and medical plant and it was unforgotable EXPERIENCE nd definatly Comeback again
They have other Guest House (Batu Kapal Guest House) which is a great place to stay and you can see wild Orang utan just next from your room
We Highly reccomend this place
