- Gemma (10/5): A memorable and special stay, superb hosts and the Villa was beautiful with stunning views. - We met the lovely host Silvia when we arrived to collect the keys and her co host Luca when we left to pick up the keys. They were very accommodating and gave us lots of guidance and tips about the local area. The Villa was located in a very quiet and peaceful area with a beautiful serene view of the lake which was just stunning at sunset. If you wanted to nip to the shops or restaurants they were only a short drive down the hill into the small town of San Feliciano. There were also plenty of larger supermarkets in surrounding towns that were easier enough to stop at en-route back from our days out, as a family of two older parents and two older teenagers, we preferred to have our evenings as a family at the villa enjoying a glass of the local wine and dining together overlooking the beautiful view. There was a few restaurants in the main town that we visited for coffee and lunch stops, so this would also be an option to drive to in the evening to sample the local cuisine. One thing that unfortunately limited our enjoyment was the amounts of mosquitos in the evening, which can't be helped so just make sure you have mosquito spray. The drive leading to the villa was very steep but there was an option to park at the bottom and walk up if preferred, then steps up to the main Villa, so accessibility could be an issue if less able. I had a large car and the drive was curved and narrow so it required tactful manoeuvring and good clutch control but it would not prevent me from revisiting the Villa as the aspect and location was stunning.
The pool was very cold but we did all braved it, including my elderly parents, as the days had been warm so it was certainly a very fresh experience at the end of our days out and was not too bad once you were actually in and this was also late in the season end of August/ September.
A few extra things to add to the kitchen list that could help for the future is a Baking trays, a Cafetière to make filter coffee rather than just the coffee pod machine, oven gloves and an extra tea towel, a microwave and toaster could also have been useful rather than the just the standard authentic oven. I was cooking for 5 everyday, so it would have helped speed me up. But overall a truly fantastic and memorable stay that we will always look back at with great fondness, thank you.
