Guest Reviews
- Margaret (8/5): - The view was incredible, I could have sat there all day just taking it in. The amenities were great, everything was easy and comfortable, and the place was beautifully clean. Clearly well looked after. And yes… I’ll say it again, the view was the highlight. The only thing that let it down a little were the spiders. There were quite a few, and a couple even made surprise appearances from the ceiling while we were in bed… not ideal. Aside from that, everything else was fantastic.

- Cheyenne (9/5): - The location is beautiful with a great view of Mt Taranaki, bed was super comfy and very spacious tiny home with good amenities.

Dear Mr Williams,
Thank you for your message and for taking the time to explain the circumstances surrounding your recent stay.
- Bennett (10/5): -
- Mary-Lou (9/5): - Comfy bed, beautiful location, lovely hosts! The view is second to none and the facilities are well stocked and laid out. L The shelf over the bathroom sink makes it really tough to brush your teeth.
- Tess (9/5): A pleasant, peaceful stay under Taranaki - Facilities were fantastic - really good cookware, the bathroom facilities especially the fancy shower head was awesome. Plenty of blankets and the bedding was super clean and cozy. Our hosts allowed us plenty of privacy and were quick responding in communication. We loved little Honey the pup who came to say Hi :) Our bad luck meant we stayed over a really windy and stormy night which meant the wind crept in through the joinery and the house swayed a little - but that’s all part of a tiny home adventure
- Sharnagh (9/5): Lovely peaceful stay - Very good peaceful location, stunning sight of MT Taranaki. Tiny home was very cosy and warm. Very cute dog running around the property, which was super friendly.
Communication with owners was very good. Quite a lot of cobwebs on the walls. Would of been good to have a small frying pan for cooking.
- Desmond (8/5): Beautiful location if your wanting to see an amazing backdrop, morning and then evening. Very peaceful and quite, superb - The location was perfect although we didnt arrive early enough to see the sunset, we did get up early to see the sunrise, and the beautiful waiting there for us. Its was perfect. It was a pretty chilly night and it appears the bottom rubber door seals on both corners of the front door were worn. Could feel the breeze coming through.
Other than that everything was perfect.
- Anna (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable - Jenna had left the heat pump on for when we arrived. Good spot to explore the New Plymouth district.
- Kyla (10/5): Exceptional - The location is fantastic and it’s so serene!
- Cherisse (7/5): The tiny house has potential, but our stay fell short of expectations. - The location and the view were superb. Couldn't ask for a better view of Mt Taranaki.
The shower was great. There were a significant number of cobwebs both inside and outside the property. While we understand that the location may naturally attract spiders, the amount of buildup — especially across half the bathroom window, beside the bed, and along the central beam — suggested the space hadn't been cleaned in some time.
During the windy nights, the tiny house shook and rattled quite severely, which kept us awake. Interestingly, the outdoor furniture remained unmoved, so it’s unclear whether the house is simply not well insulated against the wind.
We were not informed in advance that there was a puppy on the property. A makeshift gate had been set up the day we arrived, built from sticks, plastic trellis, and twine. While it seemed intended to keep the puppy in, it felt unstable and not entirely safe. There were also thorny vines nearby, which led to a minor injury when closing the gate.
The vanity shelf was placed directly above the sink in a way that made it difficult to rinse your mouth or face without hitting your head.
The stairs to the loft were quite smooth and slippery — one of us actually slipped and was injured. Some non-slip treads would make a big difference here.
The tiny house uses a cassette toilet, which was already half full when we arrived. Not having used one before, we weren’t sure what to expect, but it seemed quite unpleasant from the start. The warning light came on the next morning, indicating it was full. When we contacted the land host, it took a bit of back and forth before a cleaner was sent to empty the holding tank. We later learned that it should have been emptied after each check-out, which clearly hadn’t happened. We were also told it should last 48 hours, but it filled up again the following night. Perhaps that’s true for one person, but definitely not two with healthy bowels.
Lastly, we wouldn’t recommend this tiny house for longer stays.
- Eve (3/5): Poor - The property is really beautiful and exactly what we like as two avid explorers! Great communication with hosts, please see below as to why our stay wasn’t as expected. We’re both keen campers and regularly hike/explore so we’re used to the outdoors, elements, and little creatures that invites. However, the property has not been cleaned at the top to get rid of many spider webs inside. At around 10pm the property became pretty overrun by what seemed to us to be giant house spiders. We slept on the floor in between the kitchenette and toilet as this seemed to be the safest place away from them. There were many flies inside the tiny home too. We woke up with a few bites on our legs between us. A real shame as we loved the property, but we feel the upstairs could have been sealed better, dusted and cleaned to try and decrease the amount of spiders that entered.
- Nickola (10/5): the best place to be with someone you love. - Best possible way to see in the new year. The space was perfect. Sun in the afternoons. And those mountains. wow. and the sweet lovely dog was a bonus! and thanks to the host, lovely to have a laugh :-) nothing.
- Hengyi (10/5): Cozy and Private - Loved the house and its location where you could enjoy the sight of Mt Taranaki straight from the indoor mezzanine, kitchen and living space. The house was exceptionally clean with fully equipped kitchen amenities. Overall lovely experience
- Agnes (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the tiny house and its amazing location! We were very lucky to have experienced the perfect sight of Mt Taranaki. The tiny house is very cosy and has got everything you need to make your stay comfortable. It is a quiet and peaceful place to stay.
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tim (10/5): Tranquil, peaceful, but also reinvigorating. - The view of the mountain was the best i've ever seen. Was very quiet and peaceful and the Hosts were friendly and very accommodating. A+ Nothing bad to say.
- Michelle (9/5): Would highly recommend this stay to others - amazing location, clean, private and well-equipped. - Stunning views of Mount Taranaki on the clear days. The tiny home was well equipped and we appreciated the kitchen ammenities of hot plate, microwave and cooking equipment. Comfortable, peaceful and private. Tasty local takeaways.
