Guest Reviews
- Katharine (10/5): A fantastic place to stay - beautiful location and a house that has everything you could need. - A lovely spacious barn conversion in a beautiful location. Very helpful hosts and the cottage had everything we needed. We enjoyed a day at Beaulieu, and had good meals in local pubs. Nothing!
- Shirin (10/5): Had a fabulous stay and enjoyed day trip around the area - Location. Clean and big enough for us all. Can’t fault it
- Brown (9/5): Lovely barn great for families - The barn was lovely - the main living area light and open and loved having the open space upstairs so the kids could play but you could still hear them easily.
Good sized bedrooms and useful they are all ensuite. Would be great if they could fill in some of the potholes in the road up to the barn!
Some storage in the top floor bedroom would also be useful.
- John (10/5): - Great bedrooms, well furnished, lovely location nothing
- Jenita (9/5): Lovely property with great facilities - Great facilities. Property decor was lovely as was the layout of the property. We were a group of friends so having the three double rooms with an en-suite each was fantastic. Similarly the open plan kitchen/living space was great to have. The hosts were also very helpful. Not much! If being very picky it would have been great to have the basics (e.g. milk and sugar, but tea and coffee was there so it wasn’t the end of the world by far). Not expected but always a nice touch! Fantastic property all round.

- Cheshire Flooring (10/5): Stunning, elegant and spacious - Amazing hosts, i sent 3 fitters down there for work and everything was done and ready for them the same day. nothing the fitters were thrilled with the place, it was stunning.

- Alice (10/5): Perfect for a friend's gathering - We had a wonderful stay at Strides Barn. Philip and Jo were helpful and communicative right from the start, answering queries and giving helpful directions etc. Despite being next door, they left us to enjoy the barn and outdoor spaces, and Philip came to see us the morning we were leaving to say goodbye and check that everything was OK.
The Barn itself is beautiful, comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked with every utensil and dish you could need. The Nespresso machine was a welcome addition, as were the bottles of water in the freezer as we arrived in time for a 30° heatwave! Fortunately the barn has a lovely amount of doors and windows to fling open for a nice through breeze. Our holiday was mainly to relax and be with friends so we spent most of our time in the barn or on the patio, cooking or playing board games. There are huge sofas for lounging, a lovely big coffee table and dining table to gather round, as well as another big table on the patio. It was really a treat to be able to fully relax and the days just stretched out wonderfully. The beds were very comfortable and the complementary toiletries were a lovely touch.
The location itself is tucked away at the edge of the village and, although you have to walk on the road to get there, it is a nice stroll. The post office in the centre is very well stocked and nice to go to for bits and pieces. Further afield, we recommend the Duke on the Test as a lovely pub for lunch. Otherwise, the barn itself is surrounded by woods and fields and is very quiet, apart from all the birdsong and the odd distant moos from cows. We had a family of deer visit on a couple of the evenings but otherwise it was mainly the wood pigeons in the mornings and the bats after sunset. Would definitely recommend a stay here and we hope to stay again soon. Nothing, loved all of it.

- Nipun (9/5): Superb - Superb location. Both Phillip and Joe were very welcoming. Loved the house, which was very comfortable. A home away from home. Not much not to like!!
- Darren (10/5): Fabulous stay in a fabulous location - Fabulous space - everything had been well thought out and it had everything to keep a family in great comfort for a weeks break. Nothing to dislike!
- Rosanna (9/5): Fantastic property in the New Forest with all amenities a short drive away - Lovely property, spacious and beautifully maintained. Ideal for our group of 4 adults, 2 children. Host helpful and nearby village of Whiteparish has a lovely pub. We had a wonderful stay. We were blessed with lovely weather and the house was very warm inside with only one fan that we found, but that was the only minor negative really!
- Jasmine (10/5): Amazing place & great location! Highly recommended - We had a wonderful stay at Stride’s Barn and we’d love to come back some time. We highly recommend this place. Some key highlights of our trip:
- location is excellent. Close to The New Forest and places like Salisbury and Southampton. The beach is a 30 min drive. Pubs and local shops few mins away.
- the Barn itself is beautifully decorated, luxurious and spacious, with a fully equipped kitchen. Very clean!
- lovely bedrooms with en suite bathrooms.
- great for families, as it includes a baby high chair, a cot and board games.
- excellent communication with the owners with clear directions and self check in.
- lots of outdoor space with outdoor seating patio and BBQ. Our baby enjoyed safely playing outside. Nothing :)
- Lee (10/5): The best barn I've stayed in! - Everything about this property was spot on, the hosts live next door and were very helpful.
- Jon (10/5): Perfect family stay - Very impressive accommodation. As a couple we’ve stayed in everything from a tent in the Andes, tenner a night rooms in Vietnam to luxury accommodation with private pools in expensive beachfront locales.
Now having two young children our requirements for stays have changed, and Strides Barn was perfect. It would easily suit a group of 6 adults as well.
Beautiful building and clean, it’s the perfect getaway location to explore the surrounding area of the new forest and Salisbury.
It was so good we extended our stay by one night. It’s a little bit of a drive to any major supermarket, but there are a couple of resupply points nearby. We arranged Waitrose delivery on arrival.
