Guest Reviews
- Hermann (10/5): This is my new favourite resort - The staff is professional, all the places are amazing, the best foods in the restaurant and so many activities
- Monica (10/5): Relaxing - Beautiful location and views Wish there was a little more AC
- Dainius (10/5): Pats graziausias vaizdas-nepamirstama patirtis - Likom suzaveti! Viskas tiesiog wow!
- Sandra (10/5): An amazing stay at a small piece of paradise. - Absolutely everything, this is truly a wonderful eco-lodge, the views, the bungalow, the guides, the staff, the food was just exceptional. There is nothing not to like.
- Podkalicki (10/5): - It’s fantastic in a great location and close to nature
- Oliver (10/5): Phenomenal stay at Morgan’s Rock - We stayed here for three nights as part of our honeymoon to Nicaragua. If you are considering booking Morgan’s Rock then do it.
Our room was spacious and comfortable, with stunning views across the cove (see photos below). We loved spending our evenings in the plunge pool, or relaxing on the balcony.
The lodge is enormous, with an incredible (and completely private) beach, a small estuary (and free kayaks you can take out) as well as various trails you can walk/ cycle to explore. We saw various types of birds, monkeys and reptiles during our adventures around the site.
Finally, every single member of staff we came across was wonderful. They simply couldn’t have done more to ensure we were well-looked after every second of our stay.
We had a phenomenal experience at Morgan’s Rock, it was the highlight of our time in Nicaragua, and could not recommend it highly enough. The restaurant is significantly more expensive than typical Nicaraguan tourist prices, however the food is all ‘farm to table’, and was fantastic quality, so we didn’t resent this, particularly given the setting.

- Martha (10/5): Exceptional - go before everyone finds out about it - Breakfast was outstanding, excellent coffee, comfortable rooms, beautiful beach, staff was so warm and welcoming and accomodating I can't think of anything I didnt like - maybe more lounge/reclining chairs in the beach bungalows that are farther from the bar
- Jorge (10/5): -
- Sandra (10/5): Stunning retreat - a true escape to paradise - Stunning location and beautiful private bay with comfortable beds and hammocks. Room was gorgeous and the food delicious. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
- Nick (10/5): Idyllic - Simply a treasure of a find. Really takes eco sustainability to heart. It’s simple luxury with excellent service. Nothing was too much trouble and it felt like I had the whole place to myself much of the time. Food is delicious and while menu not exhaustive they changed dinner daily. Cannot recommend highly enough. As it is jungle, expect a few mosquitoes and some wildlife which is all part of the adventure. It is quite a trek to find and make sure you have a decent car as the last bit is off road.
- Jonis (10/5): -
- Lloyd (10/5): 10/10 would recomend! Ended up being 1000x better than any other Airbnb we found in San Juan. - I planned my engagement here and the staff was absolutely incredible! Beautiful room, breathtaking views, & treated like royalty. Walking down to breakfast from our villa we saw monkeys 15ft from us!
- Katherine (10/5): It was such a privilege to experience this. - Everything about Morgan’s Rock is incredible. The private beach is one of the best I’ve ever visited. The accommodation, in the heart of the jungle, is really magical. Everything about it was perfect.
- Katherine (10/5): - Perfect in every way
- kevin (10/5): -
- Ingrid (10/5): -
- Malgorzata (10/5): Great place - Everything
- Carlos Roberto (7/5): Hotel con mucha naturaleza - Buena comida y playa Le falta mantenimiento
- Amy (7/5): Beautiful place, but they need to upkeep, focus on safety, and upgrade service. - The location is beautiful! The bungalow was unique and lovely. I enjoyed the plunge pool attached to the room. Handrails in some cases had rotted and fell apart when grabbed. Placed a chair near a rotted rail so my kid didnt lean against it and tumble 8 ft off deck. 200 stairs to room is a lot. Get a funicular to lighten the hike-La lancha in Guatemala has one. Breeze beds are less effective than a fan. Food was meh and pricey. Limited choices. Tours were okay but don’t expect great guides to teach you a lot. Very nice people though. Horse ran off w my kid but guide was 5 mins behind us entire time. No harm done and kid thought it was funny. Rough ocean and no one around in case anyone needed help. No flags. I live on a farm and am no prima Donna however there’s a reason they have you sign a waiver.
- Eduardo (10/5): - La atención excelente, la comida No tengo queja
- Ethan (9/5): Fantastic Stay - Such a great place, the staff and the facilities are amazing! It is far away from town, so you either need a car or commit to staying there the whole stay. The restaurant is good but limited menu and high prices, but if you don’t have a car you don’t have a choice to have dinner anywhere else.
- Bojun (9/5): -
- Valter (10/5): -
- Daniele (10/5): incredible - An incredible place, hidden in nature, respectful of its surroundings and absolutely magnificent
- Sean (10/5): Good spot to go off the grid! - Great spot for R&R!
- Emma (8/5): Very good - Amazing natural setting Definitely needed more food options, particularly for kids, and more accessible snacks.
- Claudia (10/5): A piece of heaven in Nicaragua ! -
- Ronnie (10/5): Exceptional -
- M (9/5): One of the best ecolodges I have ever stayed at - A fantastic property immersed in nature with a large, spectacular private beach. Nothing. Staff was very attentive and the service was impeccable.
- Yarden (10/5): Exceptional - The staff, the views, the facilities - everything was just amazing!!! We loved every second and can’t wait to go back❤️ they made our stay very special. The restaurant is more expensive relative to other places in Nicaragua and the food is just OK, but it didn’t ruin our experience whatsoever
- Audrey (7/5): Good - Beautiful location but activities are not well managed (many not available and fitting people needs), and maybe very expensive for a trail . Also rooms could be very tough to reach ….
- Katerina (8/5): Very good - Well this is a very rustic and alternative accomodation. The location is great if you are looking for great views, isolation and connecting to nature. The rooms are very interesting since they are practically open space helping you become one with the surrounding. The staff was very helpful, and everything organized by the hotel, from daily excursions to transfers across countries is completed perfectly . The beach and pool are beautiful locations to unwind and relax. Generally this is more of an experience rather than a hotel! The hotel restaurant/ menu is OK. Nothing special. If someone is not good with insects, spiders, crabs and generally wildlife they should not consider Morgan's Rock. Also there is a lot of stairs in case of any mobility issues this hotel is definitely not a good choice. I believe there is room for improvement when it comes to cleaning, although I understand that since it is so exposed to nature this is a challenge. Lastly there was a bit of a safety/ security issue the rooms do not lock and they underline putting your things in the safe which made me feel a bit uncomfortable.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oscar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marly (10/5): Exceptional - This was the best hotel I had . Full privacy , nature, music of waves for sleeping. Super
- Matthew (10/5): A true paradise - Very unique. Private beach. The restaurant isn’t great
- Maria (10/5): The property is beautiful, but the staff is what makes it a great place to vacation - Property is lush, clean. Staff is the absolute best! Would definitely come back to visit again! Stairs to the villas were a bit strenuous, but manageable. Maybe just a heads up on the website to let those who have certain health conditions know.
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jason (9/5): Superb - Everything was great. The only thing is if you have problems climbing steps this place is not for you! Now they will pick you up at your room if steps are in issue though. Besides that this place is beautiful!!! The steps everywhere! Lots of climbing
- Sara (10/5): Beautiful place, very relaxing. Great view!! The staff was super friendly and helpful!! - We loved the place everything was great
- Bruno (10/5): Amazing villas! - The property is just incredible. The villa with the private pools are so nice, and the views are so worth it. We were there during wet season but we still had quite plenty of sun. Altho there is not A/C, there is a very good bed cooling system. Food portions are quite big and tasty so sharing is totally fine if you are not so starving :) Oh, and the coffee, the smell is already amazing. We thought the restaurant is a bit on the pricey side, especially considering it’s kinda difficult to just go out for a bite. There are bugs, beware - but that was expected and part of the experience of course:)
- Rafael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Souheir (10/5): Extremely enjoyable, relaxing and fun - The staff was exceptionally good, professional and responsive. Three stood out: Bismark who has got customer service down to an art, Jon who is a very close second and of course, Jose the chef with his excellent meals; every meal was outstanding The drive from the gate to the facility, the road was rough, but still manageable. That was something I didn’t expect.
- Carl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marilyne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Georgina (9/5): A real treat - a beautiful place to stay with stunning beach, friendly staff and very natural surroundings with interest - Beautiful accommodation set discretely on hills overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Great beach, wildlife, birds and surrounding forest and very friendly staff. A little remote so you cannot eat anywhere else but the remoteness added to the peaceful location. the food was very good, particularly breakfast, fresh juices and lunch. I would have preferred a couple of simpler, more local food options on dinner menu.
- Nicolas (9/5): Serene eco luxury retreat at a perfect beach and in super, super nice and comfortable bungalows. - Morgan’s Rock sits in a fantastic spot, right on a perfect beach you’ll likely have all for yourself (or almost) with sunsets guaranteed. We found the staff superb! Our bungalow was a piece of tranquil eco luxury in which we felt super comfortable. Food is great, clearly with Nicaraguan character, and at its best. You’ll see monkeys all around. We actually had a sloth sitting in the tree besides our bungalow. A stay is pricey but comes highly recommended if you are looking for tranquility in a high end eco setting. We paid several times the market rate for a transfer. We found this unnecessary since it feels a bit like a rip off. Keep in mind that your are quite a distant from any town where you would find shops and restaurants - San Juan del Sur would be closest and is 30 mins away. For us this was not an issue though.
- Sarah (8/5): Beautiful bungalow on private reserve - Probably the best bedroom view we’ve ever had! The bungalows are very comfortable and private. The staff was fantastic - very welcoming, efficient and friendly. The whole Morgan’s Rock reserve is incredible and worth exploring. The food was good, but very overpriced, especially as there are no other options close by. Some of the facilities are a bit tired and in need of maintenance/ replacing.
- Tamara (9/5): Incredible location and bungalows but not sure it’s worth the $500 a night. - location! Morgan’s rock has its own beach which is amazing and very exclusive. Also loved the actual bungalows.. very comfortable, very fun stay. Parts of the property seemed a little runned down which felt out of place with the price point.
- Staffan (10/5): Exceptional - almost everything access road
- Pedraza (10/5): Exceptional -
- Braxton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Excellent - Beautiful setting with nature. Travelled with a baby and a child and the staff were very attentive and helpful all the time. They were also great on the tours. Lots of animals in the jungle.
