Guest Reviews
- Philip (9/5): We stayed at Woodland retreat last year a well. - Quite location a short drive from shops and the beach. Getting out of the driveway can be a little difficult as you can't see cars coming until they are very close.
- Adrian (10/5): Quiet, relaxing, rural and nature friendly with wonderful unobtrusive hosts - Quiet rural location away from noise and preserving a 1930s feel. Nothing
- Waide (8/5): Lovely, relaxing stay would recommend. - The house was clean and comfortable. the hosts had left a welcome basket, large fruit bowl full of fresh fruit and milk in the fridge ready for our first cuppa. there were fresh flowers in ever room which was a lovely touch.
the hosts were friendly and welcoming on arrival.
Peaceful location and surrounded by wildlife. The ceiling in upstairs bedroom was quite low and there was no hanging space upstairs.
- Nicola (10/5): Great escape - The house is in a superb little woodland. Close enough to the beach for a great walk. Loved the snowdrops in the woodland and the bird activity.
The house is extremely well equipped with everything one would need. A fabulous welcome basket of goodies was a nice surprise.
Family of 5 and 3 dogs say thank you very much.
Great host.
- Tracy (4/5): Disappointed - The kitchen and bathroom and outside area As old and quirky as its advertised, it doesn't make up for the lack of comfort, kitchen and bathroom are fantastic,as is the upstairs bedroom, the old dark bedroom at the front needs a serious overhaul, the bed to start with, old rickety bed with a board underneath the mattress, no way could me and my partner sleep in that,he ended up on the lounge floor with some odd blankets we found, not even an option to use the sofas I the lounge as so tiny! 2 little uncomfortable 2 seater sofas, so no sleep was had during our stay. The lounge is all set out wrong, the tv faces the window and it's just not a nice place to relax after a day out and all rather dark and depressing * lounge and front bedroom *
- Rebecca (10/5): The perfect stay and felt very homely, will definitely return - The cottage felt very cosy and has lots of personal touches. The area was peaceful and the grounds around the property are well kept. Nothing
- Paul (9/5): Very comfortable stay in a lovely property. - Beautiful property in a great location for us. Very modern kitchen & bathroom with sympathetically refurbished rooms to the more historic part of the house. Very well done. Nothing, it was very good.
- Sarah (10/5): Absolutely fabulous - Woodland Retreat is aptly named hidden away amongst tall pines, oaks, birches and holly, with leafy laurel hedgerows surrounding secluded secret garden areas created around the grounds. The interior is a tasteful decor that chimes with the Edwardian period of the property with contemporary, quirky and exceptionally personal touches that are apparent in the kitchen and extended areas. It is obvious throughout the property that Lisa and Simon take great pride and care of their let dwelling, and as a plant lover myself, it is evident in the houseplants adoring the house. I in particular enjoyed a good soak in the spacious bath, enjoying the calm of the light shade of green and foliage.
Plus, I have never experienced such provisions before, other than the lovely welcome pack. It has always irked me some that previous guests provisions have been cleared out of our let so that we have to purchase again or bring our own. Yet we arrived to find not just salt and pepper, but spices, tea, coffee, cooking oil, pasta, rice, cereal, bread, milk, bread, apple juice and more. Not only that but cleaning products too; washing powder, dishwasher tabs, clothes, etc. Basically everything you could thing of was supplied. It was truly a home from home.
Not only that, but I left my coat behind and Lisa and Simon posted it back to me the following Monday without charge! Absolutely, dream hosts with a fabulous property! Nothing to dislike
- Della (8/5): - The mix of old and new. The kids loved the shower room and all the garden to play in. Beds were comfortable. Kids liked the chickens Not the most sociable layout in the frontroom with the table in the middle of the room. Needs more lighting in the top bedroom.
- Sapan (9/5): Quiet relaxing stay - Lovely little getaway at Woodland Retreat.
Place was exactly as described, nice and clean and had lots of kitchen amenities to make self catering nice and easy. The hosts met us at the property to hand over the keys and there was a lovely welcome basket as well.
Location was what we were after. Somewhere quiet but within easy reach of the local towns/beaches and sites by car and walking distance to the local pub. Small thing but some of the sofas etc in the main lounge have definitely seen better days and are not very comfortable.
- James (10/5): This is a real home from home and we all had a fantastic time. - This property is a real gem! Tucked away in your own private woodland, it is both exceptionally peaceful and traquil. The location is great with the village pub just a gentle stroll away. The house was filled with treats and essentials by the host which were most appreciated. Already planning to return at the soonest opportunity. Nothing negative to report.
- Lynda (10/5): Loved it so much we going again next year. - Loved the setting. Lots of wildlife and quiet for
complete relaxation.
Lovely touch with starter pack. The cottage had everything that you could possibly need during your stay. Close to beaches/ Norfolk Broads . There was nothing to dislike,
- Helen (9/5): Beautiful peaceful and spacious house and garden - Interesting characterful period house in beautiful location with extensive woodland , lawn and wilded area. Plenty of parking . Lovely owners Lisa and Simon live nearby and are really friendly and helpful. Exceptional facilities, spacious kitchen with variety of appliances, and so many extras provided like laundry liquid and dishwasher tablets and a plentiful supply of towels and tea towels. Great welcome pack. Comfortable outdoor furniture was much appreciated by us all. I felt a lot of thought had been put into providing a welcoming place to retreat and relax.
Convenient for many places to visit.
Would highly recommend. The WiFi didn't work for most of our stay but the owners did their absolute best to sort it out and gave us a very generous rebate.
- Andrew (10/5): Great house and hosts, very peaceful and relaxing. - Great house with everything you could need. Great location to use as a base point to venture out to all the local beaches and Broads. Would be good if one of the double bedrooms had two singles in instead of a double .when you have children they moan if they have to share.
- Debra (10/5): We had an absolutely brilliant stay. - The location was great, very quiet and secluded. The property was not too far from nearby villages and Gorleston. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts, when we had trouble with the tv, they came round within 10 minutes. But it was our fault not pressing the right button.
We would definitely go back in the future. There was nothing we did not like.
- Lucinda (9/5): Gorgeous cottage in a small village - The property still had lots of original features but was modern at the same time in terms of kitchen appliances and the shower room.
A much appreciated welcome pack was also there and owners were lovely.
Nice to have off road parking. There is a minimum stay limiting future bookings.
- Arturas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alison (8/5): Lovely hosts and good position - Amazing kitchen and upstairs bedroom with views.
Lots of special touches such as a cake, drink, bread etc. everything you needed
- Cairistine (9/5): Superb -
- Kynaston (10/5): Long - Everything was good Nothing
- Nicholas (10/5): fun, quirky and vomfortanle - In a world of white walls and IKEA, this property stands out. Full of charm and quirkyness yet we'll appointed.....just book it !!! nothing much......hard to find in dark but hosts guided us in... suggest what 3 words ref
- Adrian (10/5): A quiet secluded location, lovely owners and lovely property. - Everything was lovely for our Christmas stay - the hosts met and welcomed us, the property was full of character and just what we needed for a quiet stay in a secluded corner of the village. The owners were 'on call' in case we needed anything but they ensured that we had everything we needed - a special thanks to them also for putting up the Christmas lights! The owners clearly value nature - we enjoyed the birds and the children loved watching the horses in the field opposite. I wouldn't change a thing - nothing was too much trouble and we all appreciated the care shown to us.
- Andrew (10/5): Homely, Relaxing and in a great area - The kids loved the place, a mix of stylish modern with the 40's comfort. Every thing you'd need for a stay of any length. The kitchen proved the hub of our stay and if we could we'd have stayed longer. Close to Lowestoft and the fabulous beach at Corton would definitely stay again. Wonderfully accommodating hosts that left us to get on with it but close enough should we have needed them. The weather! Rained a bit, 45 seconds of snow and it was a bit cold but what do you expect on the 1st of January? No fault with the accommodation
- Mark (9/5): Had a lovely holiday - nice quiet location, with good access to explore Third bedroom had very soft bed
- Millward (10/5): Exceptional - A really enjoyable stay Lisa and Simon were brilliant a lovely setting nothing too much trouble for our hosts, accommodation was spotless and had everything you could need and a lot more, so peaceful and relaxing we will definitely be back soon 😊 I really can't find anything not too like.
