Guest Reviews
- Theo (7/5): It was really nice and comfortable - Looked great on the inside was clean and comfortable Had a slight issue getting in and the door was a bit rusty so struggled closing it from inside and out
- Holly (10/5): We had a brilliant stay here and are eager to visit again ASAP. -
- Rachel (8/5): Had a lovely time, would definitely be happy to go back and stay again. - Had a lovely time, the house was really cosy and comfortable, felt very at home immediately. Good facilities. As tall people, the ceiling heights for sleeping were low, either in bunk beds on the ground floor, or with the low roof on the mezzanine floor. The beds were really comfortable, but we did all bumped our heads a few times.
- Diana (8/5): - Lage traumhaft. Hauseingang war schwer zu finden, Beschreibung dazu kam sehr spät. Bzw. gibt es dort keinen Netzempfang.
- Davies (10/5): -
- Bethany (4/5): Disappointing - It was a 5 minute walk to the beach, which was convenient. Wouldn’t stay again - name is very deceiving - you can barely see the sea at all. Stairs are extremely steep, especially leading to the bedroom on the top floor. Shower is very temperamental - either freezing or extremely hot.
We were disappointed with how dirty it was. We found an old tomato sauce take away pot on the floor under the tv, as well as marks all over the throw on the sofa and the bedsheets smelt musty. Extremely over priced for what it is.
- Helen (6/5): - Great location and the kitchen was clean. Bed were extremely comfy. My main issue was that I booked it with the premise that it had a sea view. However you can’t actually see the sea from anywhere in the property. You have to stand outside and crane your neck.
My other issue is that on arrival there was a note from the owners to say the place had been finished with some type of eco concrete. I might not have booked if that was in the description on booking.com! It made it look quite rough and ready which isn’t what I would have booked personally. Maybe just put what’s written there in the description here then people can make their own choice. And take out the sea view - it’s lovely without that false claim!
- Brenda (8/5): Perfect and a good price for a two night stay. - Clean, tidy, basic furnishings, good shower, adequate kitchen. There were many stairs, tricky for 4 x 65 year olds! Would be fine for young families/couples.
- Jane (8/5): - Modern extension to owners house. Thoughtfully done, with some very nice touches. Well equipped. Owner’s are friendly and helpful, but absolutely respectful of your privacy. Very good parking. Great views from your own little balcony. For us (pensioners), the stairs were much too steep. Access from road has steep steps as well.
- Jenny (7/5): Good -
- Marian (8/5): Relaxing and comfortable. - We loved how the property was situated in a nice and quiet spot near the beach. It was cosy and well laid out. A good place to relax in beautiful Cornwall! Be warned if you have trouble climbing stairs, if that’s no problem, it’s perfect.
- Andrew (8/5): Cool quirky little house. - Quirky little house, good location to the beach and pubs. The kitchen was great, and once we figured out how to use the induction hob, it was very easy to use. We loved watching the cows and calfs in the field opposite. The house was nice and peaceful, and the smart tv provided a good coverage of various streaming services. Could do with a freezer even if it's a small one at the top of the fridge. We always bring a cool box and couldn't use it as we couldn't get the freezer packs cold. The only other point would be some larger towels, but that's not too much of an issue.
- Fabio (10/5): A place to stay! - Amazing location, just 8min walking to the beach. There's also a really good pub next to the beach, Unicorn, with amazing food and really nice staff.
The host was super helpful and quick ro reply to any queries.
The house is very cosy, ideal for a small family, the TV in the living room has a smart box with all the stream services, and you have nearly everything in the house thar you need for your holidays or short breaks. Bigger shops like Tesco are only 15min drive, and you are also fairly central to Cornwall itself (Healeys farm (15min), St Ives (45min), Port Isaac (45 min), ect) - so you don't need to drive for ages. The beach is really nice, not too busy, when the tidy is low it creates an amazing place for the kids, however the sea can be rough. Nothing major and did not impact our stay, and we plan to return back later this Summer, but the stairs to the main room are really steep, and can be tricky to go up even for younger couples (our kids were afraid to go up), there's no freezer, so the kids had to eat the ice cream in one go (as you can imagine they were extremely sad about it 😅), also the back garden could do with a tidy up, loads of weeds growing and there's an huge shed that takes most of the space there, if the shed was removed or replaced by a smaller one, that would give so much space at the back.
But like I said, it didn't affect our stay and we plan to return soon.
- Sandra (8/5): Very good -
- Rhea (9/5): Superb - nice and comfortable. The owners are very welcoming and accommodating
- Toby (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ezgi (9/5): Wonderful sea view and comfy oasis - Great location, fully fitted kitchen and comfy beds for our Easter break. Really enjoyed the walk to the beach and the property was lovely.
- Jason (9/5): Superb -
- Eva (9/5): Lovely short stay in cute house - Very cute designed space with a lovely look out to the sea :) None
- John (10/5): Recommended - Thank you for the pleasant stay. Wonderful place. Cornwall is amazing. I want to go back with the family
- Phil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (8/5): Very good - Great location All good
- Verity (9/5): Perfect. - Absolutely lovely space in a truly stunning location! It is compact but space has been utilised perfectly. The Nook is a spotless, extremely well equipped, modern, beautifully decorated and comfortable space. We had a lovely stay! Two minor comments would be that the hot tap can run very hot and the single beds are slightly springy, but the Nook is still incredible value for money.
- Ryan (9/5): A lovely quiet get away - Lovely location for going on hikes or just to get away.
It’s in a very quiet area.
You have very little road noise.
Sofa is super comfortable, nearly fell asleep on it a few times.
It is a very cosy building and has a lovely feel.
There is a very good pub down the hill with a fun atmosphere “The unicorn on the beach”.
I also got to see an Otter swimming down the coast which is a first for me.
There is an RAF base nearby so there is a rare possibility of seeing some unique aircraft, as an aviation geek i enjoyed this. As basically everyone mentioned in their reviews, the stairs to the master bedroom is somewhat close to being a ladder. If you are mobility impaired or planning on drinking i don’t recommend it. (There are two single beds downstairs)
The lighting is done over wifi. I had it randomly turn off every now and then.
When a power cut happens it turns the main bedroom light on. Jump scared me a few times during my stay. (I went during a red weather warning, 50-90mph winds, so the power cuts were completely understandable). This is just a heads up to anyone also travelling in bad weather.
- Wayne (10/5): Really pleasant spot - Looks small but was the most comfortable of all our stays. N/A
- Wayne (10/5): Seaview Nook - Beautiful accommodation and location, and owner is a lovely chap who was so very helpful. I would definitely recommend it and will be staying again. There was nothing I didn't like.
- Simon (7/5): Quiet and relaxing - Location and facilities The stairs to the main bedroom were very narrow and steep
- Jonathan (8/5): Cosy wee annex close to the beach - We liked how close the wee house is to the beach, where we also enjoyed the couple of bars, a café, an ice cream shop, and more (even if the walk back up from the beach is a bit of a killer!)
We appreciated how the owners applied sustainability principles in the build and decoration of the house.
Whilst the wee house is compact, being over 3 floors, there is a surprising amount of space and you can easily have some space to yourself, if you wanted to.
Top tip: Get to the Blue Bar for sunset! Just a watch-out: If you have mobility challenges or if you are tall, some aspects of this house might be challenging for you as there are various different sets of steps, some a bit tricky, and the bedroom has a low ceiling. We bashed our heads on the first day, despite the ‘Mind your head’ sign!
We felt the kitchen was a bit sparsely equipped with utensils etc but we managed to get by as we had brought along a few of our own things, after having read this in a previous review.
We stayed for 5 nights so we would have preferred it if there was a washing machine but luckily we found a self-service machine 10 minutes away in Redruth.
- Schram (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (7/5): Good place to stay in Cornwall - Near lots of nice beaches. Very friendly owners came and introduced themselves. Helpful local suggestions and tea/coffee available. The WiFi wasn’t working when we stayed (not the owners fault), and phone reception is limited, so it was hard to work and the TV didn’t work without internet.
The stairs to the main bedroom were too steep to sleep up there with a toddler so I slept downstairs with him and my husband slept upstairs. I also wouldn’t have wanted to leave him two floors down on the ground floor.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good - We had a nice stay. It was great to be able to walk down to the beach. It would be good to have some water glasses in the kitchen and perhaps some more cups/mugs (there were just four mugs plus wine glasses). Also would be handy to have a set of kitchen knives.
We burned ourselves on the extremely hot water coming from the tap in the kitchen sink and bathroom. Maybe there should be a note to warn the users.
The shower pressure was not very strong (if more powerful, than the problem was to get temperature right).
- Dawn (10/5): We had the best time at sea view nook and will be back when we can, The property is gorgeous Sam is on hand for any of y - The property was clean,Tidy well maintained and perfect for what was needed Absolutely nothing!
- Paul (9/5): enjoyable - nice staff
- Robert (9/5): Great, quiet getaway. - Hosts were fabulous, a lovely family and available should we have needed them.
The nook had a rustic feel with lovely use of upcycled materials, really nicely done. It was a little smaller than we were expecting, main bedroom was a loft and our daughter slept on ground floor. Probably just us being picky to be honest but we prefer to be in a bedroom.
- Nicole (8/5): Peaceful, beautiful and well located - The location was peaceful and perfect for exploring the area. Beach and eateries within walking distance. The accommodation had a very calming feel and we loved the use of natural materials. Nice outdoor space to enjoy the views. Great parking. Would definitely recommend. Was advertised as having a double bed, two singles and a sofa bed but really it offers a double bed (mezannine) and two singles (one room). We worked around it with the help of the owner but this is worth noting.
- Eszter (8/5): Very good -
- Dan (8/5): Fantastic location with everything you need. Great communication from host who checked that we had everything we needed - Great location with a short walk to the beach
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable stay in the nook. Good facilities. Had everything we needed. Handy for coastal walks in the area. Great location with beach and pubs nearby .
- Laura (8/5): Lovely, cosy base to go exploring the stunning surroundings - Sea View Nook was lovely. Great stay from beginning to end. Jana and Sam were lovely and we had everything we needed for the 5 nights we were there with our toddler!
- Ian (10/5): We really enjoyed every everything about our stay. - Well decorated. Perfect size for me, my partner and our 2 year old. Very relaxing. Excellent location. N/A
- Zuzana (8/5): Fab little nook with an easy access to local trails and beach - Good location for our needs. Well equipped with everything you’d need away from home.
- Julia (9/5): Superb - Location was great for walking. House was quirky, unusual and cute. Kitchen extremely well equipped. Comfortable bed As I am in my 60s, I did find the stairs to the upstairs bedroom quite scary, exceptionally steep and tilted an odd way. Much steeper than in the pictures.
- Cindy (10/5): Exceptional - What a beautiful spot, the cottage was lovely with a stunning view..& the host was great & helpful. TV played up a bit..or we wernt doing something right lol..
- V (9/5): Enjoyed our 2 night stay. Would recommend. - The location was perfect for what we wanted.
Peaceful and quiet.
Able to park Only that there was no ice box in the fridge. We'd bought a bag of ice for our drinks over the 2 days but no way of keeping them frozen!
- Camilla (9/5): Superb - Short walk down the beach and pubs. Blue Bar has the best view to catch the sunset. House is small but brilliantly done to include everything you need.
- Anonymous (10/5): Absolutely beautiful location and will be back next year - Perfect location and really nice place to stay. My 3yr old son loved it Nothing. It was perfect
- Katie (10/5): Lovely location clean and comfortable accommodation. - The location was fabulous. The nook was quaint and comfortable had everything you needed.
- Christina (9/5): Lovey place with views and great access to the beach and other nearby attractions. - Location, clean, well equipped for cooking, plenty of parking. Stairs/ladder to reach top floor were a bit steep, may be difficult for some people (not a problem for us, would stay again)
- Briony (8/5): Perfect for our needs. No problems at all. Loved it. - Location outstanding, amazing views. A door out onto the decked area would have been ideal.
- Ceri (10/5): Hidden Gem - The accommodation was just amazing. Although it is an extension to the hosts home, it is very spacious across the 3 stores. They have thought of everything, from towels to teabags and outdoor hanging for wetsuits to a tap for sandy toes. There is also a guitar on the wall for those who live to play. Very impressed. The location is absolutely perfect. The views and sunsets were fantastic. Close to Perranporth, St Agnes, Bassett cove... the list goes on with everything within a 30 min drive. The only thing I would change is the range of sharp knives and a larger frying pan. It was just 2 of us staying so wasn't really a problem but if 4 people stayed and you wanted to cook larger portions, it might be a bit tricky.
- Clare (10/5): Super chilled - Perfect in every way. Fantastic location! Beautifully styled home with everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Lots of ample parking. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will definitely be back. Thank you! Everything was fab
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional - A great location, within easy reach of the beach and facilities in Porthtowan.
Owners were really responsive and property had everything we needed for our stay. A great base for a short break.
- Samantha (9/5): We had a lovely stay with our 17 year old Daughter. Great to have free parking. Loved Porthtowan. - quirky, lovely views, free parking, very quiet Glass bathroom door. Not great with a teenager. some sort of net or muslin over door would have been better.
Bed too soft for me
Stairs to loft bedroom very steep, may not be suitable for some people.
- Breed (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location, great views, everything you need and just a short walk to the beach. Great communication from hosts. Nothing
