Guest Reviews
- Craig (8/5): Great stop over en route to the Flinders, friendly Melrose at foot of Mt Remarkable. - Excellent breakfast options at the cafe next door, which opened at 8am (December). Shower head was fixed and sprayed the floor a little round the shower tray.
- Gary (6/5): Good value for money accommodation in a beautiful location - Great location, friendly staff, good meal at the hotel Accomodation is a bit outdated and run down
- Irena (8/5): -
- Chris (9/5): - Very nice and interesting hotel landlord who also turned out to be a walking encyclopedia on all worldly topics. The grub was good and plentiful and the motel rooms had what was required. Mt. Remarkable Park was closed due to pest control actions, but that was hardly the fault of the hotel...
- Clare (1/5): Didn't end up staying as they didn't have our booking and the room was not clean. refund was given -
- timothy (8/5): quick late booking stop over worked really well - didnt have the breakfast, location was amazing and the pub is great met all our needs

- Angie Kay (5/5): Wasn’t worth $125 a night - Good location Bed was squeaky and mattress was uncomfortable no milk for coffee could only get channels 10 and 7 shower leaked from bottom of glass sometimes could smell sewage in room fridge froze stuff
- Jamie (9/5): basic accommodation was excellent, pub meal excellent. - Simple basic, what we expected. very good. very happy. would definitely use again. Basic, clean, simple.
- Stewart (7/5): - Basic old school motel songs behind country pub. Pub had great food and atmosphere looking out on Mt Remarkable. Publican added personality and engaged with travellers Update tap in ensuite sink
- Tanya (8/5): Good value for a room giving us what we needed for an overnight stay. - Great location for accessing Mt Remarkable, Alligator Gorge etc. The motel offers rooms with basic facilities, and was what we expected. The bathroom has been renovated relatively recently and was very pleasant and clean. Luke was really helpful, doing all he could to make sure we were comfortable.
- Daley (8/5): -
- david (8/5): - Location - right next to the walking trails for Mount Remarkable. Friendly country pub run by Luke, who's a genial host. No view from the room, which I was hoping would be inside the hotel but it wasn't.
- Dianne (3/5): -
- Tony (6/5): We just needed a cheap place for a night and it was fine. - Great location in town centre and near start of Mt Remarkabe hike. Staff were very friendly and gave us good info about walks Bathroom very small and vanity needs replacing. Bedsheets were not comfortable, being some synthetic material.
- Geoffrey (7/5): -
- Vera (6/5): - Excellent location. Clean modern bathroom Had a toaster and kettle and mugs but no plates or cutlery. Lucky we carried our own.
- Michael (8/5): -
- Guest (8/5): -
- Ally (6/5): Excellent location, basic facilities and friendly staff - Staff were really friendly and welcoming Quite tired and old facilities that could do with a refurbishment

- Berlingeri (7/5): Good -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Liz (5/5): Very basic! - Friendly hotel staff. Small room in need of upgrade.
Not enough bedding for a cold night - could not keep heater in as too noisy!
- Elizabeth (6/5): Convenient but in need of an upgrade of facilities. - It’s closeness to Caravan Park where family members were staying. The facilities in the room were really lacking and not good quality. The bed was so old it squeaked every time you moved. The tv didn’t work and there was nowhere to hang clothes. There was no replenishing of milk or change of
towels over three days stay .
- John (7/5): Good -
- Christine (1/5): Horrible experiencr - It was in town I thought it would be in the pub, it was in the motel, i really wanted a tv, it didnt have any sevice, when i asked him to fix it, i got the impression it was too hard, the second time i askef he went on the roof and said it had been installed wrong and he didnt have the part to fix it. The used soap had been left in the sink from the people before us. The milk in the fridge was in a takeaway cup - not dated. And there was no shampoo or conditioner (not a deal breaker) we went to bed at 7.30 as there was no tv and left early as we woke so early there wasnt any cafes open yet
- Sandra (8/5): Pleasant, convenient, clean, friendly - The staff were friendly and helpful
Pizza was delicious Needs renovation
- Rhonda (3/5): Friendly staff but room very poor value for money - Staff very friendly, meals at Hotel good. Bed comfortable and shower hot. Condition of room, bathroom and facilities poor. Lacked space, bench and any hanging facilities.
- Mary (7/5): It was pleasant and comfortable. - It was a central location. Staff were more than obliging to assist with any questions we had. We had dinner at the Hotel and it was a good wholesome delicious meal. We got what we paid for.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Great location
- Sherin (3/5): Poor - It needs to be renovated. No battery worked in the remote controls. The bathroom had no cold water. The cover was on the floor for the vent in the bathroom. There was dried blood on the bed sheet.
- Muirhead (6/5): Pleasant -
- Dennis (8/5): Very good -
- David (7/5): Good -
- Senior (6/5): Basic room clean tv needs upgrade - Food was great room basic Pub
- Glen (9/5): Superb - Great pub in the middle of town. Good meals. Have stayed before and will stay again.
- Andrews (3/5): Not a very good stay - room recently painted No bed lamps
No where to hang clothes
Bed springs were very noisy
A/C very noisy
Mirror in bathroom not fitted so dangerous if fell
- Stuart (7/5): Good -
- Glynis (5/5): Far better value elsewhere in town. - Location is great. A renovated bathroom so small the basin is almost unusable. The shower had no label on the taps to indicate which was hot the top or the bottom tap. Tiny shower recess although brand new. Cannot fill kettle in tiny sink and have to use shower which is awkward to manage. Bottle water was in fridge but room was not replenished at all in our 3 night stay. The bed is new but the mattress has had it. Very uncomfortable.
- Barbara (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (7/5): Good -
- David (9/5): Really great place to stay in Melrose - The hotel owner drove us up to the War Memorial, as it was a very steep road and my 1963 Morris Minor Traveller would have had difficulties.
- Henry (4/5): Ok - No breakfast facilities and as we were on bikes we had to leave early to beat the heat. Room tiny and basic.

- Shane (6/5): Pleasant -
- Pearse (7/5): Abit shabby - Friendly staff. Organised dinner for us, although we arrived just on closing time.
Room was clean and bed comfortable.
Room looked like it was freshly painted. Bathroom door had hole in it, vanity unit missing laminate with exposed chip board. Multiple cracked and chip tiles.
No bedside table light.
- Jordan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Thora (9/5): Superb -
- Victoria (1/5): Terrible - The queen bed was comfortable Absolutely shocking room for $114.
Tatty, unkempt, unfinished, spider webs everywhere, building materials left against my room door and overall just yuck with broken cars and washing hanging on a line outside my window. No matching manchester and a single bed that looked way too scary to sleep in. The hot water system outside my room made horrid loud noises keeping me awake all night. Did not feel overly safe as a solo female traveller with dodgy doors, windows and locks. Just NOT anything that a hotel room should be.
- Jack (6/5): Would say the room was average and was suitable for our short stay. - Meals at the Hotel. The location of the property. Easy parking. I had a viewing before accepting the room. Air conditioned, tv, fridge and coffee making facilities. Not too expensive. Hard towels. No fly screen door. Shower recess needs re grouting.
- Andre (8/5): Very good -
- Rana (7/5): Good -
- Margaret (5/5): Did the job for one night - Convient Small
- Patrick (6/5): With accommodation upgrades the stay would be much enhanced. - Location, staff, restaurant, bar atmosphere. Accommodation unit 6 and maybe more need urgent upgrade. Not worth the current price. But in fairness there’s evidence this is happening. The secret is to retain the friendly atmosphere of the pub without hiking prices to much.
- Daniel (6/5): Pleasant -
- Lyn (1/5): Very poor - the worst I have ever had to deal with. - I was turned off property altogether when there was nobody around the hotel motel at all. Never again. It should be taken off booking.com No staff - told after ringing twice as there were no staff to go to the rooms and find an unlocked door and see it was clean. Then this would be your room. Very poor.Hotel motel was unmanned.
- Donna (6/5): Pleasant - Affordable and in the centre of town Air conditioner and fridge quite noisy. Rooms on the small side
- Sandra (2/5): Hands down the worst accommodation we’ve ever had. - Parking was just outside the room.
Excellent location. The carpet was stained and dirty. The old a/c facia coverings were sitting on a chair. It worked but sounded like a jet engine, going on and off all night. The springs of the mattress could be felt and they had tried to disguise this with a blanket between it and the sheet. The bed squeaked badly. The bathroom vanity was so badly water damaged and swollen from the poor shower curtain that the doors were close to falling off. The previous guest’s shampoo was still open in the shower, proof that it had not been cleaned.
- Gayle (5/5): Passable - The meals at the hotel were beautiful.
Very friendly and helpful people .
Very pretty town with great history . The room was underwhelming.
Very small .
Shower , a nightmare .
Old aircon that worked , but extremely noisy.
- Yvonne (5/5): Great spot to bunk down while walking Heysen - Great location
Clean but basic
En-suite with hot water
Pub food make sure to book
Staff obliging and friendly Noisy air conditioner
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheryl (7/5): Good - Close to everything.
Room was cosy
- Katrina (7/5): Stay at Mt Remarkable Hotel Motel - The bed was suuuuper comfortable--easily the most comfortable we had in South Australia (and we stayed a fair few places). The floor was quite dirty--you could feel the grains of dirt under your feet, and we found an empty soft drink can under the bed.
- Brenton (7/5): Good -
- Lara (4/5): Disappointing - Location fantastic and chea Bathroom, dust, having to request kettle, v limited space and cold. Had to go into different room than booked as room type booked not avail
