Guest Reviews
- Donna (10/5): 10 out of 10 property - Property, location, water pressure, outside space, host. All of it. Thr only negative was that it was the hottest weekend of the year so far and there was no freezer for ice. Description doesnt state there is one though, we assumed- our error!
- Stefaan (10/5): the ideal place to unwind for a few days in a green environment. - The Old Workshop was the perfect place to unwind for a few days, enjoying the natural surroundings and the peace and quiet. It was the ideal base for long walks through the surrounding countryside. And then to return to such perfect accommodation, where even the AGA cooker invites you to slow down. Tessa and Harry have created something truly wonderful here.
- Kath (10/5): A fabulous place to stay in beautiful gardens - Clean, everything we needed, welcome pack, comfortable beds, good communication Nothing
- C (10/5): - Such a lovely place to stay in a great location.
- Marinjo (10/5): Great location! Nice remote accomodation in the middle of the English Countryside - Great location. Very remote and tranquil. The accomodation was very neat and conviniently equipped. Everything was fine!
- Hannah (9/5): -
- Cynthia (10/5): A wonderful refreshing break. - Beautiful peaceful setting surrounded by gardens and meadows. Good walks from the cottage. Cottage very comfortable and nicely decorated. Car charger really helpful. Only thing that would improve it would be blackout blinds in the bedroom.
- Rachel (10/5): Gorgeous property in the beautiful countryside. Tessa was an amazing host! -
- Marieke (10/5): We loved the place - so comfortable and cosy, in beautiful surroundings. And with such great hosts! -
- Sean (10/5): Perfect stay - We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend The Old Workshop to anyone looking for a cozy, countryside escape. It has all the comforts you could need for a relaxing getaway. We can’t wait to return!
- Nicholas (8/5): Lovely setting. - Lovely setting. Comfortable Twin bedroom more suited to children
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - Immaculately clean, lovely welcome basket of local goodies and a "nothing's too much trouble" attitude of the hosts. Some lovely quirky touches to the decor. We'll be back.
- Neil (9/5): A great place to stay for a weekend as a base for exploring Kent and East Sussex. - The property is really nice. The kids loved the mezzanine level in the living room, especially the hammock! The place had everything we needed to rest, relax and eat between trips out to explore the local area - including Battle (ie of Hastings), the seaside at Bexhill and mountain biking at Bedgebury. The fireplace made everything cosy when we returned home (a bit cold and wet!). Tessa was very helpful and communicative with us before and during our stay. All in all, a great weekend. We'll be back! Nothing really springs to mind. There is only one bathroom/toilet (which we were expecting) but that was fine for the four of us for the weekend.
- Myriam (10/5): Very nice place, quiet, comfortable and cosy - The house is very cosy and comfortable. The area is beautiful and very quiet. We enjoyed the log stove very much and the EV charging station was very convenient. Our hosts were very friendly and caring for our needs. Nothing
- Shan (10/5): Exceptional - Treating yourself to an escape from town can be so hit and miss - over-priced country hotels, long journeys, feeling you have arrived in somewhere else’s suburbia. When’s it right though, being away for 2 nights feels like you’ve been on holiday; and our recent stay at The Old Workshop was just that. Set in the heart of the High Weald (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) this was just the tonic to life in the capital - and just over an hour’s drive away. Long country walks (pack your wellies!), Sunday lunch in a 16th Century pub (The Middle House, Mayfield) and settling in back at our cosy (yet incredibly tasteful) cottage with some of the much lauded local wines, felt like we’d been transported much further than East Sussex. A break here had never been on our radar until the Sunday Times voted Wadhurst the UK's best place to live earlier this year. Sceptical of how one town can be crowned above all others, we were still intrigued to know what the fuss was about. Will we be moving here? Not for the foreseeable (still love London). Will we be back for another escape? Most certainly yes!
