• Ancuta (5/5): Passable - The accommodation is located near the city center, around 15-20 min walk. The bead mattress was damaged and there was mold behind the bed and in the bathroom. The main door was broken, the key was not working properly.
• Radim (8/5): Strategic spot between the city and the airport - Very close to the city centre. Parking is possible on the street in front of the apartment if you’re lucky to find a spot. The area looks a bit rough at first, but everything was fine. We stayed just one night. The main advantage is its location — only 10 minutes by car from the airport, which is ideal for an early morning flight. The room was clean. It’s in the attic, but the air conditioning made it comfortably cool. There was a handy rack for storing belongings. Self check-in was arranged via WhatsApp, including ID sharing. Access to the building is with a key code (the main door is heavy and a bit noisy), and the room key was in a lockbox upstairs. The main door made a squeaking noise when opened, and the stairs leading to the upper rooms were also quite creaky. We had noisy neighbours who returned late at night and didn’t seem to consider that others might be trying to sleep. The walls and doors weren’t as soundproof as they could be. The bed felt a bit worn out — it may have been firm in the past, but now slightly overused. For a couple of hours’ rest it was fine, though. Would be questionable for a longer stay. We missed having a hairdryer and would have appreciated a few more hangers.
• Catriona (5/5): A bit disappointed - The room had a really bright, modern decor. The room was within walking distance of the main sights, the port, train station and we even walked from the airport The room was advertised as having a 'sea view' balcony but it faced a wall so was a bit disappointed about that. You could lean round the balcony door to see a tiny bit of sea, but felt the description was misleading. The room is in the port area so the surrounding area is a bit run down. The shower room had a big patch of black mould, and the wall behind the bed had a dampness problem and was crumbling so not great for anyone with any respiratory conditions. There was no one there when we arrived and we had not been given instructions of how to access before we arrived. We received instructions once we arrived. It was lucky that we had no issues with our phones but if we had no battery of internet access I'm not sure how we would have got in. The bed & pillows seemed quite comfy, but we found we kept rolling into the middle of the bed. It was also quite noisy with people coming and going at unsocial hours. I would suggest that this place is probably ok for a night or two if you will be busy out seeing the sights, but not really the sort of place to stay for a week. There is another Ciuris House to the north of Catania which might be a better option

• Τετη (7/5): Good - a descent room in a good price, just 10 minutes walking from the fish market the room is comfortable but not very nice, the walls were dirty and the area is not very safe to walk during the night, as it is close to the harbour. A taxi driver also told us that. When we got in, through the main door, there were garbages smelling very bad but they were removed 1 hour later. In the morning, 8:30 am, there was a lot of noise (maybe from other guests as they were checking in, not sure) and someone even tried to open our room. The train station is far away 25 min on foot, and the streets are not pedestrian

The neighborhood may be a bit rough, but we felt saf - The hotel was clean and due to our flight being delayed the staff was helpful and in contact with us so we could check in. For a no frills stay, on a budget would definitely recommend.

• Amine (2/5): Very bad experience - The house is in rough area, our car has been robed during the night in front of the house. They took the rear headlights and everything inside the car.
• David (8/5): Great for short stay. - Room was spacious and overall clean. Bathroom was newly renovated. There was a mold at some corners of the room and the windows weren't airtight. Also sound isolation wasn't the best as we could hear the street as well as our neighbours.

The bathroom and the room were nice and clean. Location might not be the best if you're staying in Catania for a few days.

• Tatjana (10/5): Exceptional - The location is very perfect for visiting all the sights, food and fish markets and street food. The room is comfortable and very clean. Self check-in is easy and convenient. A special mention goes to the host Nicolò, who is very friendly and always available to help guests. He was very helpful with our car break-in and when we were in a hurry to get to the airport. For that I give him 10* Parking on the street is dangerous, as our rental car was broken into. Fortunately, we had full insurance.
• Oana (9/5): Clean location, good communication - Room and bathroom were clean, clean linen and towels. From the balcony, you can see the sea to the side. Communicating with the host was very easy and was easily accomplished. With very thin walls, you could hear everything from the hallway and adjoining rooms. I could not find any indication where to throw the garbage, so we stayed with it in the room for four days.

Also, when you have a door that connects your room to another one, you can hear everything from that other room. Some soundproofing needs to be done or maybe another solution. Also, the mattress was quite bad on the left side.
• Natália (8/5): Very good - The room was great, clean, nice and comfortable. Plus there is a shared kitchenette in which you can have water, tea or coffee. Excellent communication with the host, easy check-in at a late hour. The apartment is close to the centre but the street in which it is located is quite unpleasant, especially at late hours. The other entrances of the houses are shabby and there are strange people living there. I would therefore not recommend it for singles.

Nicolò was a great host , very friendly and helpful! The only thing that I would have changed is that there was No window in the room , no natural light.

The host was exceptional; he accommodated us early in the morning(before check-in time) and allowed us to store our luggage until the afternoon after check-out. The location couldn't have been better, close to everything. I highly recommend this place if you're searching for accommodation in Catania!

It seems to be recently renovated and refurbished as facilities and the room looks completely new. Easy and fast check in thanks to Nicolò (the Italian owner) that has sent me the whole direction to follow in order to enter into the house.Definetely would love to stay there again and definitely recommended.

• Simon (9/5): Super new accommodation, shortwalk to city centre and 10 mins drive to airport - We had an overnight (Saturday) in Catania before returning our hire car & flying home from Catania airport. Ciuri's House was perfect. We were able to park right outside on the street, just 10 minutes easy drive to the airport - no need to navigate maze of tiny streets & alleyways. Even at 6pm on Saturday night there were plenty of free places. Ciuri's House is also well located for the tourist centres, just 6 mins walk to start of bars & restaurants at Castello Ursino, 10 mins to fish market. Our room was without balcony or view, but clean, stylish, spacious, comfortable and well lit, despite the small windows. It was next to the pleasant kitchen/dining room, but we heard no noise from other guests and no street noise. In fact it was very quiet. The street & immediate area are quite rundown with derelict gasworks, factories and houses so you might feel uncomfortable, although our hire car was fine overnight, and the scariest thing we saw was a mountain of garbage on Via Grimaldi to city centre! You can see on Google streetview Ciuri's House is the first completed renovation on Via Aredusa.

Also the owner was so lovely helpful, he gave us recommendations for dinner. All check in and check out was super smooth. I would definitely recommend. The only things we didn’t like were the beds, they were really too soft so couldn’t sleep well much.

• Sven (8/5): Very good - As i arrived, the checking was quit simple, even as there was nobody present! Now to the room, the room was clean and had a simple furnishing, but you are not missing anything for the description. I slept quite well in the bed. Now to the neighbourhood, it surely isn't the best neighbourhood in catania but not quite as awful as you hear for the other comments. After all, I had a pleasant stay and would stay there again when I am back to catania for work!

Only the walls were pretty thin and you heard everything, but it wasn’t a big issue. It was 10 minutes away from the city centre and about 20 minutes from the train station. The only problem we had, was the part of the town. It was really dirty, dark and disturbing. As two girls we didn’t felt comfortable walking there. So we wouldn’t recommend this place if you are a girl travelling alone or even with your friend. immediate surroundings
• Olena (8/5): Good price-quality for the money - Great hotel for the price. Clean room, bed linen and towels, comfortable bed. Many hotels have heating problems in winter, but not this one! The room has air conditioning so there will be no problems in cold weather. The room is quite spacious, there is plenty of space to put things. The kitchen has everything you need: a refrigerator, an electric kettle, a microwave and a coffee machine. Check-in went quickly according to the owner's instructions. The hotel is located near the center, easily accessible on foot. There is also a bus stop nearby. It's a 30-40 minute walk to the train station. Don't be afraid when checking in. They are renovating an apartment or building and it doesn’t look very good from the outside. But everything is fine from the hotel, it’s just the location of the input. No sockets near the bed. The area looks a little strange, but there were no problems with a late return.

• Juja (3/5): Poor - Very close to the center , 5 minute on foot about the conditions when you arrived at the accommodation, it was as if you arrived in a horror movie with dead rats on the street, with dilapidated abandoned buildings. inside the building next to the studio there is an abandoned apartment with no windows and nothing. There is no window in the bathroom, only a hole with bars like in a prison, and the sound in the room means that you can hear all the sounds from the street, including the wind.

• Savanna (1/5): It was so awful and unsafe ,I didn't stay. - Nothing. It was so bad I didnt stay there and let the landlord know. I then had to go and pay someone else for a safe and secure accommodation for the evening. I have asked for a full refund. That property shouldn't be on your books. I am going to review both the property and you on various platforms. The state of the property being in a broken down area withvacant houses and buildings with refugees is extremely unsafe and dangerous. I was mugged in the neighbourhood. Go send someone there to take a look. Shocking. Shame on Booking. Com. I would like a full refund please.
• Stefanie (3/5): Despite the nice host and easy check in, I would not book again. - nice host and clean room unfortunately, I booked a room without window - this information was not declared anywhere - and which had a connecting door to another room. My neighbors were extremely loud and I had the feeling that they were standing right next to my bed. The location was in proximity of the old town however seemed quite sketchy.

• Justyna (8/5): Clean and big, but not the most comfortable - The place is very clean, room is big and comfortable. There's a TV, small balcony, air conditioning. Mattress was very comfortable and the sheets were clean. No problems with late check in, everything is handled smoothly and the contact with the personel is very good. The double room has a door that goes into another guestroom. It's closed, but you can hear very clearly what goes on in the other room. This is especially uncomfortable in the night, when someone comes back late and makes a lot of noise. During our stay someone came to the other room in the middle of the night and was very clearly sick, coughed etc. We were woken up and also a bit grossed out by all the sounds. I would not recommend these rooms for anyone who has a light sleep for sure. And generally it's not a nice thing to gear everything from the other room. Also, the location of the place is not ideal. Yes, it's close to the old town, 10 minutes of walking, but there are no shops around, it's very dirty and rather dark and unpleasant. View of the sea is quite exaggerated, because the window looks out on a wall and you can only see a small bay if you lean out from the balcony to the right.

Came with the essentials, Wifi, air con and a shared kitchen with a water cooler, large fridge and coffee machine. Was lucky enough to meet Ciuri, who was a great guy, letting us know the coffee machine had been fixed. He was quick to reply to any messages and always replied respectfully. Thanks again Ciuri!! Not in the greatest of areas, not sure how i would feel walking home late at night but was great for the couple days we spent at this apartment where we didnt get back later than 10pm. Major renovations were underway causing the sea views to be obstructed. Will be a 10/10 stay as soon as those are completed!!
