La Isla Dulce to miejsce z którego żal odjeżdżać, prowadzone z szacunkiem do otoczenia w którym się znajduje i do środowiska naturalnego. Kuchnia przepyszna, cała obsługa miejsca fantastyczna. Zakwaterowanie jest bardzo oryginalne, niezależnie od tego którą opcję się wybierze można spędzać czas w przeogromnej przestrzeni wspólnej. Ze względu na małą liczbę gości (max 6) miejsce do relaksu dla siebie znajdzie każdy. Właściciele pomagają w każdej kwestii logistycznej związanej z transportem lub organizacją wolnego czasu (wycieczki do różnych miejsc).

Al vóór ons verblijf stonden ze klaar om te helpen met regelen, en ook daarna bleven ze betrokken en zorgzaam. Hun gastvrijheid voelt warm en oprecht. Elke maaltijd was een feestje: zo vers en smaakvol. Het totale plaatje klopt hier helemaal — van de sfeer tot de service en het eten. Wij waren zó enthousiast dat we iedereen aanraden om deze villa te boeken.

• Julia (10/5): Magnifique havre de paix au bord du Rio Dulce - Magnifique petit havre de paix, construit et rénové avec beaucoup de goût et de talent par Daria et Douglas. On s’y sent tout de suite comme à la maison et on a surtout plus du tout envie d’en partir. Douglas et Daria apportent une grande attention à tous les aspects de leur projet: de l’accueil parfait des hôtes à la cuisine délicieuse 100% maison, rien n’est laissé au hasard, tout est fait avec conviction et cela se ressent. • Antoine (10/5): Beautiful and Relaxing - This establishment is located in a beautiful setting in a secluded corner of the Rio Dulce. It's easily accessible from Livingston or Rio Hondo by boat, either with a shared boat that runs twice a day or by private boat. The owners were incredibly responsive and helpful in helping me find a boat, as I was arriving a bit late from Puerto Barrios. It's about a 25-minute boat ride from Livingston and 45 minutes from Rio Hondo, and the trip is beautiful. The setting is magnificent: the jungle, the river. The "Villa" room where I stayed is huge and beautiful, with a balcony overlooking the river (see photo). It's very well-appointed, spacious, and comfortable. The food at the restaurant is great, and a special mention goes to the cocktail made with homemade coffee liqueur prepared and infused by the owner with a unique recipe. One of the most beautiful places I've stayed, very relaxing, and well worth the trip.

• Adela Alexandru (10/5): Great place to relax and disconnect - The property looks exactly like it does in the pictures, which was reassuring, and it’s definitely a great place if you’re looking to relax and be away from everything for a while. The setting is peaceful, and you can really disconnect from the outside world, but there's also good Wi-Fi and hot water. Douglas and Daria live on-site, which means they’re always around and very attentive to anything you might need. They’re incredibly helpful and clearly put a lot of care into the place. There are lots of thoughtful touches, like homemade soap, shampoo, and other natural remedies, which add a unique, personal feel to the stay. The dog Oso is lovely and adds charm to the place.

• Gaël (10/5): Very warm and familiar experience in a beautiful setting - This place truly exceeded my expectations! Douglas and Daria are incredibly warm and welcoming hosts, both with a very calm and soothing energy. Douglas helped organize trips and shuttles, making everything easy and stress-free. Daria is always happy to assist and loves sharing her knowledge about the local fauna and flora. They have a wonderful team: four sisters who prepare incredibly flavorful, fresh dishes every day, and Victoria, whose vibrant personality makes guests feel completely at home (she also makes amazing margaritas!). Every day at 4PM, Douglas takes Oso, their lovely dog, on his daily ‘walk’ on the barking boat. Don’t miss this because it’s unique and so much fun! They also own a gentle black cat named Pedro. The other guests were great company as well. We even went on a day trip together, and in the evenings we shared dinners followed by long after-dinner conversations and games. I stayed in the little hut above the dock. It can get a bit humid and there are some bugs, but that’s part of the ‘camping’ vibe, or rather glamping. The view from the hut is amazing! There are also plenty of cozy communal spaces to relax. Overall, it felt like a warm and familiar experience. It was a perfect and relaxing way to end my holidays in Guatemala, and exactly the reason why I chose to book this place.
• GUY (10/5): Klein paradijs in de jungle! - Prachtig resort (slechts 3 verblijven) aan de rivier midden in de jungle. Wij sliepen in de ruime comfortabele villa. De eigenaars Daria en Douglas zijn zeer vriendelijke en behulpzame mensen. Eten is er zeer lekker. Dagelijks rond 4 pm neemt Douglas je mee op een boottocht door de jungle samen met hun lieve hond Oso. Douglas regelt ook alle verplaatsingen met de plaatselijke boten en/of uitstappen naar Livingston, Rio Dulce, Playa Blanca, enz… Heel blij dat we onze wondermooie reis door Guatemala hier konden afsluiten!
• Brümmer (10/5): - Wir hatten einen wundervollen Aufenthalt im La Isla Dulce. Es war mit Abstand die schönste Unterkunft, die wir in Guatemala hatten. Ich kann wirklich jedem empfehlen hier ein paar Tage zu verbringen.
• LASTECOUERES (10/5): - La Isla Dulce est un merveilleux endroit tant au niveau de l'établissement lui même que des hôtes et de leur équipe. Ils sont tous extraordinaires. Daria et Douglas ne cessent de vous faciliter la tâche et font tout pour que le séjour soit agréable et inoubliable. Valeria est extrêmement souriante et agréable et répond avec entrain à toutes les sollicitations. Les personnes qui préparent les repas sont elles aussi formidables et tous les plats et boissons sont délicieux. Bref, un endroit fabuleux qu'il faut obligatoirement intégrer lors d'un passage sur le magnifique rio Dulce.

• Bo (9/5): Ontspanning in de jungle - Douglas, Darija en de rest van het team maken La Isla Dulce tot de geweldige plek die het is. We hadden best wat problemen gehad tijdens onze reis, dus wat we nodig hadden was fijne plek. Die kregen we! Douglas was ontzettend flexibel en heeft ons super geholpen, ook met de activiteiten. Het eten was geweldig en we hebben heerlijk kunnen ontspannen. Je bent in de jungle dus je kunt last hebben van ongedierte. De toilet en douche faciliteiten deel je, die zijn dus niet in je eigen 'kamer'. Goed om te weten is dat omdat je echt op een eiland zit, je voor alle activiteiten afhankelijk bent van het team om bijvoorbeeld een boot te regelen.

Das gesamte Personal (das menschliche sowie das tierische) ist super freundlich, unterhaltsam und humorvoll. Alle Extrawünsche wurden ohne Umschweife erfüllt. Das Essen war so lecker, dass wir die meiste Zeit damit beschäftigt waren, darüber nachzudenken, was wir als nächstes bestellen wollen. :D Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen. :) Das Essen hat eher europäische Preise, allerdings war so gut wie alles hausgemacht und Qualität hat eben seinen Preis. :)

• Jonathan (10/5): Ein Traum auf Stelzen - Ein absoluter Traum! „La Isla Dulce“ ist ein kleines Paradies am Río Dulce – nur per Boot erreichbar und genau deshalb so besonders. Die Gastgeber Douglas und Daria sind unglaublich herzlich und haben hier mit viel Liebe zum Detail eine traumhafte Oase geschaffen. Wir haben im Central Treehouse und im Bootshaus geschlafen – beide Unterkünfte sind wunderschön und einzigartig. Die Anlage ist idyllisch, ruhig und perfekt zum Entspannen: Kajaks, Sonne, Naturgeräusche und mit etwas Glück sogar Seekühe oder Otter. Ein besonderes Highlight war die tägliche kostenlose Bootstour mit Haushund Oso – einfach magisch! Auf unserer ganzen Weltreise haben wir uns noch nie so wohl gefühlt wie hier! Verliert keine Tage an irgendwelche Touren, sondern bleibt einfach in der Unterkunft und genießt die Zeit! Wenn man etwas essen möchte, muss man etwas Zeit mitbringen, doch auch das ist meckern auf hohem Niveau.
• Timo (10/5): Ehrliche 3 Tage - Nach zwei Wochen Guatemala mit vielen Abenteuern, haben wir im La Isla Dulce den perfekten Abschluss voller Entspannung gefunden. Man wird mit der Ankunft sofort herzlich begrüßt und fühl sich willkommen. Die gesamte Unterkunft ist wirklich mit viel Herz eingerichtet und unser Bett war sehr bequem. Das Essen ist auch sehr lecker und war ein ziemlicher Genuss. Zum Lunch git es klassische mittelamerikanische Speise und Dinner dann ehe westliche Speisen. Gegessen wird mit den andern Gästen zusammen am Tisch. Das muss man natürlich mögen, hat uns persönlich aber gut gefallen . Da nur 3 Zimmer zur Verfügung stehen ist die Runde auch sehr familiär. Einfach nur zu empfehlen. Da gibt es eigentlich nichts zu sagen.

Just 3 rooms, all beautiful, but we were lucky to be able to rent 'the villa' which was very spacious, secluded and nicely decorated. About the food: everything built from scratch and organic. On peut y faire des sortie en kayak, passer la journée à Livingston, faire d'autres excursions. C'est un véritable petit paradis . • Brechje (10/5): - La Isla Dulce is the ultimate little getaway to relax after traveling through Guatemala. Douglas, Daria and the staff (and their dog Oyso) are so welcoming and made our stay even better. The property is on an absolute paradise little jungle island, only reachable by boat. We spend our days doing basically nothing, chilling on the dock, kayaking and enjoying all the homemade food and drinks. They also have a paddle board and offer a small boat ride with the dog. If you’re there longer you can make the trip to Livingston as well, but we recommend just indulging this amazing place. We could’ve easily stayed a week (or longer) here and were sad to leave after two nights.

• Marjan Wiese (10/5): Een parel in Guatemala - Deze parel in Quatemala hadden we niet willen missen. De plek is niet alleen fantastisch, je zit echt midden op de rivier, het onderkomen, de mensen, echt alles overtrof onze verwachtingen. Douglas en Darya zijn geweldige mensen, super gastvrij en doen er alles aan om je verblijf zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken en dat is gelukt! Wij sliepen in de villa en dat overtrof al onze verwachtingen. Wat een prachtige ruimte. Het was sowieso heel ruim van opzet en het bed was heerlijk. De ruimte zelf was met zo ontzettend veel oog voor detail ingericht. Deze plek overtrof al onze verwachtingen. Wij hebben heerlijk gegeten. Er is van alles en nog wat te krijgen en de gerechten zijn met heel veel zorg samengesteld. Deze plek is een absolute aanrader en mag je eigenlijk niet overslaan als je door Guatemala reist. Helemaal niets.

Douglas en Darya zijn fantastische mensen. Ze doen er alles aan om je op je gemak te laten voelen. En dan het eten; de smaken zijn perfect en bijna alles is zelfgemaakt. Ongekend! De huisjes zijn super mooi en het uitzicht ik ook fantastisch. Als Guatemala niet zo ver was dan zouden we hier elk jaar wel willen komen.

Douglas y Daria son muy amables, siempre pendientes de hacer tu estancia más bonita y completa. Respecto al sitio… directamente emana paz, cada detalle es único, cada rincón es más especial que el anterior, todo el mobiliario hecho a mano con maderas recicladas, incluso Daría se encarga de hacer los jabones y champúes. • Jens (10/5): Unforgettable stay with the most welcoming hosts - - The hospitality of Daria and Doug was at a level we had never experienced before, starting days ahead of our trip as they helped arrange our travel to the lodge and they even took us on a small boat ride with their dog during the day. - Super cozy and spacious rooms, equipped with every thoughtful detail. Shower is also thoughtfully designed, allowing you to enjoy views of the surroundings. - The food was amazing — the best we had during our stay in Guatemala. Everything (!) is homemade! We went to both Livingston and Rio Dulce during our visit, and while they're both interesting and worth the trip in their own ways, staying somewhere on the river is the best option in our opinion.
• Jasmin (10/5): An off-grid paradise - The property is so nicely done, very comfortable from the moment you arrive. You feel at home here because of the two wonderful hosts that will show you around the area, organise transfers and provide great food! Also the facilities and decor have been done very beautifully so that you can just hang out in your bungalow and enjoy the quiet. Thank you Douglas and Daria for having us and giving us a home for these 3 nights.
• Gaelle (10/5): If you want to live in paradise for a couple of days, that’s the place. - Thai is not just a hotel, this place feels like home. Few rooms and guests, dedicated owners & cooks, you may spend the best time here and have trouble leaving. Food is great, rooms are great & comfy, everything is clean, the place is sooo quiet. We had the best time ! We chilled all day along the water, did some kayaking, yoga & Pilates by the water, ate a lot because everything was so delicious and homemade ! Owners are always there to help you (we did struggle a bit to organize transportation from Atitlan and then to Belize), And the dog is the cutest. .

• Patricia (10/5): Balm for the soul! - La Isla Dulce is the best accommodation we've ever stayed at. It lacked nothing! Everything was built with such attention to detail. The food was delicious (very good quality!!), our room was a dream and the couple Darja & Douglas and the other staff were as warm and helpful as you rarely see. We had the best shower here and everything was clean and comfortable. Our stay was the perfect end to an incredibly wonderful trip. We would have loved to stay longer, as it felt like a spa retreat. Thank you for everything!
• Veerle (10/5): Hidden pearl along the river - Fantastic secluded getaway along the river. Great base for exploring Rio Dulce and Livingston. Very comfortable and charming. And not to forget: excellent food!

• Clads (10/5): Wow, just Wow. - Absolutely everything. It is very rare when you arrive at your accommodation that you are actually lost for words about how amazing the place you have just arrived at is. Daria and Doug were welcoming and warm from the moment that we arrived, and honestly, the Villa we stayed in blew us away. It is truly beautiful and even has its own private lagoon, for God's sake. The bed is super comfortable, and we felt like we had a real home away from home for a few days. The food and drinks at the restaurant are excellent, and honestly, we just never wanted to leave. We cannot recommend this place highly enough. It is remote, has awesome access to Livingston and is a great lancha journey from the main town itself, which is really nothing more than a landing point. I had been eyeing off this place since the owners first opened last November and waiting for some reviews to appear and feel really fortunate that we were able to secure the Villa and stay at this incredible part of the world. Cannot recommend any more highly. Nothing. Loved every moment.

• Emma (10/5): Exceptional - We had the most wonderful stay at La Isla Dulce- the best hostel we have ever stayed at. The owners, Daria and Douglas, made us feel right at home from the beginning. The food prepared by Daria and the local women was delicious and made with a lot of love. Douglas went out of his way to organize boat and bus transfer back to Guatemala City for us. And the house we stayed in was breathtaking- beautifully designed, with gorgeous furniture, amazing bed, and a beautiful view of the lake. I sincerely hope we can come back and visit again.

• Pam (10/5): By far our best stay of our 3 week holiday! - The holistic design, the detailed perfection of the property and the general vibe! Next to that it comes along with two very inspiring and kind hosts. It’s a perfect stay for this area, you can do everything in La Isla Dulce, from breakfast to dinner, kayaking to boat rides and the best cocktail parties! The mosquitoes logical for the location, but also for this the hosts find some natural solutions.
