Guest Reviews
- Linda (8/5): Good central location for the trips we needed to make. - Staff were very welcoming and efficient. Our breakfast were good - we had a nice choice of options. Everything freshly cooked to order. Our meal in the evening on our first night, was good too. Our bedroom was very comfortable, but it would have been nice to have had the room serviced, especially as we were there for 3 nights. However, there was info about this when we looked
- Greenacre (10/5): -
- Koen (9/5): Leuk verblijf in de countryside - Rustige locatie en heerlijk ontbijt. Vriendelijk personeel. Warme kamer met beperkte verluchting
- Peter (10/5): A great place to stay and we fully recommend it. Thank you Molly and team. - Our night at the Red Lion was a highlight of our driving trip through the UK. Our host Molly was exceptional. She was a good laugh in the bar and it was obvious that she took pride in her job and her pub. The room was fabulous, dinner was amazing, and the breakfast outstanding. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay a few more nights.
- Sabine (8/5): A pleasant, relaxed overnight stay in the annex of a classic English pub. - We were delighted by the friendly welcome and the pleasant accommodation. Although the road is very close, it was a very quiet night - even with an open window. To be able to sit outside the pub in the evening to wind down—eating, drinking a cider, and watching a hot air balloon drift in—was wonderful. -
- Markus (9/5): -
- Simon (8/5): Great base to explore Kent or on way to crossing the channel - Excellent hearty English cooked breakfast.
Great atmosphere in the pub with live music, great beer and food No comments
- Rita (4/5): Not much choice at breakfast - The heating was not working and the room was cold. Heating on

- Ruth (10/5): Would definitely book again if I am in the area - The room was separate to the pub which was great for us as they had a live band the night we stayed and we weren’t disturbed at all . The room was clean comfortable and looked really nice. Loved our stay. The management and staff were also lovely and helpful Nothing
- Philippa (10/5): -

Dinner was lovely, alot to choose from. Can't think of anything
- White (5/5): - They refused to provide breakfast for the following morning. We had to go to the next village. They got the hoover out before we finished our drinks. Room very cramped.

- Julie (10/5): Would recommend exceeded my expectations. - Good atmosphere , lovely location, food excellent, could not fault it.
Accommodation was in a cottage type building next door to the pub a few yards away. Spotless room with tea making equipment. Lots of toiletries and lovely white towels. There was even a cotton dressing gown in the wardrobe each to use if needed.
- Karen (9/5): - Fantastic lamb pie. Great room. Fantastic shower. Free parking I just like an armchair in a room ☺️

- Maik (8/5): -
- John (10/5): - The rooms were just across the car park from the pub. They are finished to a high quality modern standard.
The property is in a quiet country village, which suited us perfectly.
Molly is a great host. The breakfasts were first class and the restaurant menu in the evening is full of great pub classics.
An excellent place to stay for touring and sightseeing in Kent. Can’t fault it.

Vriendelijk personeel.
Handige locatie voor trein / boot. Mooie historische pub. Geen comfortabele zitplekken buiten. Meer asfalt dan tuin.

- Rosalinde (10/5): Perfecte locatie vlakbij de Channel Tunnel! - Perfecte kamers op een half uur afstand van de Channel Tunnel. Heel vriendelijk personeel, heerlijk diner! Hele prettige schone kamers in een bijgebouw. Waterkoker en thee aanwezig in de kamer. Gezellig zitje voor het gebouwtje. Heerlijk ontbijt. Alles was in orde
- Irene (9/5): Very enjoyable stay with a great night in the bar, with a local group on. - The accomadation was really good & met all our needs. Nothing.
- Sharon (5/5): Very disappointing. - Great host. Comfy bed. Shower pressure good. Room was incredibly dusty. Basic surfaces were thick with dust. Dirty kettle inside and out. Very basic tea tray. No biscuits on offer at all and no fresh milk or small fridge.
Front and top of drawers were dirty and needed a simple cleanse with a cloth.
Breakfast was pretty grim. Mushrooms and bacon were actually inedible. Both were tough and had clearly been overcooked and then re heated.
Menus (paper) were dirty and weathered and really shouldn’t be handed to customers in that state.
- India (9/5): Quiet hide away in Kent - Breakfast was amazing. Wonderfully quiet
Location. Super friendly start Nothing!
- Roy (9/5): Great pub, lovely rooms. - Molly! The publican - she IS the Red Lion! Lovely touches in the room, super breakfast - fresh fruit and cooked to order hot food. Nice setting. My fish and chips could have been better.. a lot of greasy batter. A fair bit of nouse from M20, but hardly surprising given proximity and having windows open because of heat!!
- Colin (8/5): Very enjoyable stay in a country pub with good beer and food. - Breakfast good as was evening food.

appointed. Nice pub with good food and rooms in an annex. Easy to get to Chunnel from there. Nothing.
- Ewart (9/5): Superb -

- Marc-david (10/5): Exceptional - Great staff, excellent owner (young lady), super client attention. Lovely pub with great food. Very comfortable rooms, beautiful location. Nothing!
- Malcolm (9/5): A perfect getaway for my Wife and I, very relaxing, great food and comfy room. Staff are amazing! - The staff were very polite and friendly, nothing was too much for them. The pub was lovely, and the accommodation was superb. We did mention to the staff that one of the windows didn't have a blind in the room, so let light in the room early in the morning. They assured us it was on their list of to dos. Also, if I'm being picky, some comfy chairs in the pub would be nice, it's all pretty much hard wooden chairs?
- Georgina (10/5): Exceptional -
- A (10/5): Welcoming staff, handy for Le Shuttle, good food with gf options - An excellent breakfast with a good choice and gluten free options N/a
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional pub with rooms in rural Kent - Friendly greeting from Molly on arrival and she made us feel really welcome. Lovely cosy room with comfy bed in the converted barn with a great shower and luxurious towels. Delicious supper and full breakfast the next morning. Traditional old pub in rural Kent with a great welcome and super food.
- Saskia (9/5): Perfect stopover coming from Dover ferry - Lovely staff and pub, community owned. Made us feel very welcome. Food very good, both evening meal and breakfast. Good selection of drinks as well.
Quiet location, yet very close to main roads to/from the Dover ferry. Lovely evening walk through village and fields.
Room excellent, located in a building next to the pub. Although next to the parking lot, very quiet.
We had an issue with the bedding which was instantly solved. Thank you :) Nothing, will book again when travelling with the Dover ferry
- Gary (10/5): A great place to stay and enjoy the serenity of the English countryside and great pub food. - The location is out of the way, but it is worth the effort to get there. The main room and bathroom were recently renovated (quality work) with high-end materials. It is nicely appointed, has lots of great windows and a bed that was very comfortable. The pub which is across the parking lot from the rooms is quintessential English pub with friendly staff. We had the meat pie and fish and chips and both were outstanding. An ale recommended by our server (after asking) was perfect.
- James (10/5): Fantastic, staff, service, food. -
- Michelle (10/5): Great stay, would thoroughly recommend - We had a lovely stay. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room was modern, spotless and comfortable. It was also quiet, so we got a good night's sleep. We had dinner in the pub, which was great, and breakfast was fantastic.
- Whittaker (10/5): Comfy, well cared for and pleasant - Very friendly staff, great rooms and lovely breakfast. Location is fantastic too!
- Justine (10/5): Second visit and will not be the last! - Staff are all very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. Room was spotless and like additional touches like cotton wool and tissues. Bed very comfortable Nothing at all

- Deborah (10/5): A hidden gem. - The staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent. The room was lovely with many little extra touches. I highly recommend.
- Rachel (8/5): Beautiful pub, beautiful rooms in a beautiful location. - Great location, friendly staff, clean room. We will re-book. Window in bathroom broken..Other windows only opened a little bit. One window didn't have a blind and so we woke early.
Breakfast although well presented and a good choice was different in taste to most. Eggs quite rubbery and mushrooms soggy.
- Carl (10/5): This place is absolutely amazing. Great food, good rooms, lovely staff and locals. Faultless ! - There is absolutely nothing to dislike about The Red Lion !
- David (9/5): Very enjoyable experience at an inn with much character and modern and well appointed bedrooms - The rooms were excellent - very clean and with everything you might expect of first class accommodation. Breakfast was excellent with a wonderful, freshly prepared fruit salad, Staff very friendly and could not be more helpful. All excellent but thought breakwast was a bit pricey and could be made clearer that the booking is room only with breakfast extra along with the price per person
- Michael (8/5): One night stay at new year - Comfortable room and good food service in the bar. The local area is lovely and quiet. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The heating in the room was difficult to start but we got it working eventually
- Jose (9/5): Superb - A warm welcome, a cozy homely room with kettle and generous selection of complimentaries.
A very comfortable bed.
Good WiFi and Smart TV appreciated 👍
A compact but very practical ensuite shower room.
We enjoyed a super-tasty late Sunday lunch in the pub.
Room+pub adjacent a great combination for a pre/post cross-channel ferry stop-over.
Hope to return ; - ) Thank you to the whole team! The bathroom was a little chilly in December - some heating would have been appreciated.
The "heated" towel rail did not seem to be working.
Sadly we had to make an early start - before breakfast was served.
- Amanda (10/5): Recommend you stay here excellent breakfast and service over and above - Molly couldn’t do enough for us so professional. The pub was so comfortable we had a great stay. Would go back. Nothing all great

- Jan (8/5): Very good - location - clean - modern no housekeeping! room quite small
- Sue (10/5): Very good. Hoping to go back again later in the year. - Lovely room. Bed comfy, everything had been thought of. Even a small bottle of wine and beer in the room for us. The host was a lovely lady very friendly. Breakfast was huge! Tricky to find it but worth the treck
- Angela (10/5): Had a lovely stay, would stay again and highly recommend - Claire and Lee were friendly and welcoming hosts, beds were really comfortable, breakfast was really tasty and huge and room was really clean and modern Lovely village pub, cannot fault the pub or the accommodation the only negative are the roads quite narrow coming up to pub
