Guest Reviews
- martin (9/5): - cleanliness top class
great value for money nothing all good
- mark (6/5): Only booked because everything else was fully booked. - Clean and tidy. Plenty of parking spaces. Check it was over 3 hours late.
Too expensive.
Check out is too early.
- Scarlett (10/5): Comfortable cosy and perfect - Everything from when we walked through the door to when we left, we were looked after staff exceptional and food was amazing aswell, considering I’m quite fussy with my breakfast everything was cooked to what I asked. That we didn’t stay longer - no faults what’s so ever
- öz yıldırım (8/5): -
- Hazel (10/5): Fantastic value for money and the cleanest hotel room ever ! - Amazingly clean room, loads of nice extras (toiletries etc) Only negative was the mattresses wanted to dump us on the floor! Lol
- Phillip (8/5): - Excellent accommodation friendly staff and very comfortable stay very clean lovely pub
- Edward Bunting (10/5): Very nice hotel with local character and charming welcome - Great breakfast thanks. Nice village, would like to spend more time looking round, maybe next time. Friendly hostess and friendly locals enjoying a social time in the bar.
- Katrin (8/5): -
- Viney (7/5): - Heat
- Watkins (10/5): -
- Kenneth (2/5): Very unreliable management and poor communication skills. - Friendly reception on arrival but downhill after that No food available on Saturday evening despite it being advertised as open for food. Cook had gone to a wedding that day. This had not been explained despite the fact that in speaking to them earlier in the week I had said that we planned to eat with them.
Breakfast ordered for 8.45 but no one in the pub when we came down for breakfast. A table was laid but no one around. Waited until 09.10 and then left and found a Starbucks nearby. They have an email on their facebook page but no one replies. I gave them the opportunity to explain/apologise before writing this review but no response. Beware!
- Isabel (9/5): - I've stayed here before so knew what to expect. I had a nice meal in the evening. Quiet room and comfortable. Good location for breaking up my long journey.
- Carl (8/5): -
- Katrina (7/5): Good place to break our long journey - Village pub which is clearly centre of the community. Outside of the pub is very rundown but inside the bedrooms were clean and fresh. Tea/coffee facilities provided. Very friendly staff. Good value beer in the pub. Bar area dog friendly Whist the pub says it’s dog friendly; this doesn’t extend to the rooms sadly; apparently in case other people are allergic to them (in which case you couldn’t go in the pub full stop as dogs allowed there). Very limited food menu in the pub and the (only non-frozen option) of ham was not available. Instant coffee at breakfast.
- Sheila (7/5): good - good

- Nicholas (10/5): Would recommend staying here and looking forward to going back again - Food was excellent, staff were very helpful and the accomodation was beautiful and spacious Nothing
- Isabel (3/5): An uncomfortable stay and definitely not value for money. - Handy location for us. Pleasant staff. The bar didn’t close until 1pm and customers were very noisy so we couldn’t get to sleep. The room was exceptionally hot and we were unable to adjust temperature or open window.
The bed had a slightly strange odour.
We were informed no breakfast was available when we arrived.
- Tracy Seacombe (8/5): Lovely staff -
- KEVIN (7/5): It was ok - Stay was good Was charge 2 times for the stay, still trying to get my money back, also at the time there was no food there
- Keith (8/5): -
- Nigel (8/5): A pleasant overnight stay. - Friendly staff. Clean room. Tasty food. N/A
- Nigel (9/5): Friendly. Comfortable and clean. Food ‘hit the mark too’. - Friendly staff. Clean room. Doesn’t apply.

- Janice Mary (8/5): - Comfortable and quaint. Traditional
Warm and welcoming
Located in a beautiful village Menu with limited choice
- Julie (10/5): Welcoming staff, clean, comfortable room. We ate in there and we can recommend the ham, egg & chips! - The bedroom was very spacious and very clean. We had a comfortable bed with crisp white sheets and towels. There was plenty of tea/coffee etc. Nothing really not to like!
- Paul (10/5): Lynn, Jake and the young lady behind the bar(sorry can’t remember her name) certainly made our stay an comfortable and e - Lynn and her staff were excellent- nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel very welcome.
The breakfast was delicious and hearty. The rest of the food was basic but tasty. No negatives for us.
- Gemma (10/5): - We stayed at the Royal Oak for one night while attending the Cheltenham races, and we had a great experience. The staff were very friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-kept, which made our stay really enjoyable. Overall, we were very happy with the stay and would definitely consider coming back again
- Jenny J J (6/5): Bed but no breakfast! - It was a friendly pub. The bar food was good. I chose the pub for its location and good breakfast reviews. However when I arrived I was told no breakfast would be available and by then it was too late to make alternative accomodation arrangements.
- Lorna (8/5): Excellent above-pub room, perfect for a night’s stopover. - Really comfortable room, great shower.
Lovely staff. Noise from the bar (but to be expected) and breakfast system a little confusing, it does need to be prebooked, despite the website saying it’s available at the venue.
- Georgina (9/5): -
- VANESSA (3/5): - the venue was nice there was no heating it was freezing
- Miglena (10/5): Lovely stay - Lyn is a lovely hostess. She was very attentive and took a great care for us. N/A
- MS (8/5): -
- Martin (5/5): Cheep and cheerful. Don't expect too much. - No food on the day we arrived. The chef's day off. We were not informed of this until we got there and had to go to a another Pub or have take-away fish & chips.
- Alex (9/5): A great stay that exceeded expectations! - Excellent location that was really easy to get to. The staff were wonderful and very friendly.
- Jason (1/5): - They double booked me and had to find somewhere else at higher cost
- Christian (8/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): Great staff, food, ambiance, would recommend to anyone - The staff, dinner, breakfast was really good the best we have had so far The bathroom was tiny and the bed not that comfortable but comfortable enough, everything else was brilliant
- Richard (9/5): - A great location, quiet village. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious. There were plenty of teas and coffees in the room. Once checked in we had keys that gave us direct access to the room without going through the bar.
We didn't spend any time in the bar, but it was well stocked and had a good selection of good beers - I did take 1 pint up to the room and it tasted really good Not a dislike, just something to be aware of - the rooms have a fan heater. We got back at 2am on a really cold night and the room was cold, as we didn't want to leave the heater on overnight. Switching on for 10 minutes took the chill off the room and we like to sleep in a cooler bedroom anyway. In the morning I switched the heater on and pointed out into the bathroom and snuggled back under the duvet for 20 mins!
- Duncan (10/5): -
- Susan (8/5): Brilliant! -
- Will (10/5): Lovely village stay - Everything, the staff were friends as were the locals Nothing
- Lee (6/5): Ok for business trip, - Room was large, comfortable and fine Heating did not work but an electric fan heater was provided. Booking.com said breakfast was included but it wasn’t
- Stuart (7/5): It did the job. - Good location, price and nice staff. Road noise, radiator noises, smoke alarm light too bright
- O'Connor (4/5): - The awful smell from the drains kept me awake all night. No discount was even offered
- Lord Christopher (8/5): OK - Good location reasonably close to M5 Toilet seat loose. Bedroom radiator did not heat up probably needed bleeding.
- James (10/5): -
- Christopher (10/5): Looking forward to our next stay - The place is absolutely gorgeous. Nice little country pub. The landlady lynn was so helpful from the minute we got there. The room was stunning and there was tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits also lots of shower gel and shampoo and the shower was amazing. We will definitely be coming back but for a longer stay.
- Jabir (6/5): It was pleasant stay but staff should focus on the customer. - The staff was really helpful and friendly. The next day morning I had my breakfast included when I made the booking but it wasn’t served and no one was there when I had to check out. Waited for like 45 minutes but no one showed up.
- mike (9/5): -
- Geoff (2/5): eventually female manager ? arrived to see us, we were promised a full refund , no refund as yet ! - No comment on this subject bathroom toilet malfunction, discharged waste sewage directly onto bathroom floor.
temporary repair and clean up using numerous bath towels carried out by the downstairs barman, no other official persons present at that time in the premises'
- John (8/5): Overall, I was pleased with my stay, friendly staff, clean room and comfortable bed. - Friendly staff, good breakfast. Limited menu, could do with a couple more selections
- Jaturaporn (6/5): -
- Belinda (10/5): A lovely stay here will definitely be going back to stay again - Lovely place to
Stay

- dawn (8/5): -
- Nicholas (10/5): Welcoming. Excellent location. Friendly staff -
- anthony (9/5): Excellent. Bed very comfortable, staff amazing - N/a
- Patrick (8/5): - Location
- Desmond (10/5): Perfect for our stopover. - The welcome we received. The spacious, simply decorated, spotlessly clean room. The ample tea and coffee making provisions. The comfy bed. We did not have breakfast as we had to be off early next morning but we enjoyed evening drinks in the bar/lounge area beside the lovely log fire. Nothing to note on our stay.
- Michael (8/5): The property was difficult to find in the dark as there wasn’t any street lighting at all. But we we’re welcomed when we -
- david (10/5): just what we needed - we were late evening booking in but we were made most welcome nothing
- Pete (5/5): Poor conditions for the time of year - Rooms were clean and tidy Heating didn’t work
Late for breakfast
- PULLING (10/5): - It was all good nice room freindly staff All good
- Gillian (10/5): Very cosy room, great stay. - We booked Room 3. Lovely room with a large bay window. Wonderful comfy bed. Plenty of tea & coffee facilities plus free toiletries. Very cosy, but large room. Issue with ordering breakfast resolved within a day. Good service. Nothing.
- David (9/5): Nice friendly Cotswold village pub - Very friendly staff. Good size room. Good sized car park0 We booked 3 rooms, mine was absolutely fine, but the occupants of the other 2 rooms said the rooms were quite cold.
- DAVID (7/5): Lovely great ale - Quaint local pub friendly attentive staff Stairs up to the accommodation
- Vandermeulen (7/5): - It feels more familiar to stay in a local inn, than a hotel chain. It's located in a small village, so not to crowded. But it is still close to the highway and easily accessible. Would recommend!
- Josephine (8/5): -
- Darren (8/5): Fun stop in a great area of the country, and probably overlooked. - Old hotel. Nice charm. Room was modernized well, and exceeded expectations of condition. Nothing fancy, but good for travellers on the move. Had pints with locals at the Pub below.
- Victoria (9/5): -
- Nigel (10/5): -
- LizMkl (8/5): - Lovely pub environment and staff were fantastic. We checked in quite late and staff were friendly and accommodating. The girls gave us reccomendations for where to get food.
The room was lovely, functional and very clean. Car park was out the back of the pub, a very short walk to the car. -
- Alan Joseph (10/5): -
- Morag (6/5): -
- Tony (7/5): A Great Base to explore The Cotswolds - Location. Easy to explore The Cotswold area from here. Breakfast was excellent Bedroom could have benefited from an armchair rather than two upright chairs
- David (5/5): ok if you're stuck for somewhere to stay - The room was very clean and well kept No breakfast
- Darryl (6/5): Nice location and pub, the rooms are very nice and clean. - Location One of the reasons why we chose this place was because the pub did evening meals and breakfast was included. The day we stayed the kitchen wasn’t open and nobody turned up to cook breakfast as we had booked breakfast at 8am, 08.20 we left because nobody had turned up.
- Bernard (10/5): Bredon - Quiet professionalism. Breakfast and dinner tasty quality
Excellent ambience and ample parking.
- Nicky (8/5): Staff were lovely - Clean A little tired
- Jonathan (10/5): -
- Barbara (8/5): Good location for Tewksbury - The breakfast was fine.
The room was comfortable and clean.
Nice modern bathroom. There was no food available in the evening.
There was a green light on in the bedroom that stayed on all night & disturbed sleep.
- Kevin (9/5): - Manager and staff excellent
- Jamie (10/5): -
- Bailey (10/5): -
Betten waren okay, meine Decke roch allerdings etwas unangenehm.
Alles in allem kein besonders empfehlenswerter Aufenthalt.
- Phillipa (7/5): - Clean room and a comfortable bed.
- david (9/5): - Good breakfast nice bar Unable to get meals on Sunday after 4pm
- Anne (8/5): -
- Marian Hollomon (10/5): A public house used by many of the locals who were extremely willing to help with local information. - Superb, couldn't have wanted more, individually cooked, came out piping hot on hot plates.
Friendliness of the proprietor and all the staff. Young local people employed to staff the bar which is excellent.
Rooms spotlessly clean with lovely soft white towels👍
Great atmosphere every evening.
- Williams (8/5): good for a one night stay in interesting village with historic church and tythe barn. - very good breakfast. Friendly manager.
- Justine (5/5): -
- Célia (10/5): -
- Carla (8/5): Would definitely stay again if we needed to stay in that area again. - Lovely little local pub, friendly staff as were the locals. Room was one of the larger ones and was clean and comfortable. Nice toiletries, tea, coffee and biscuits in the room.
Didn’t have breakfast as left early, but did have a meal the night before. Simple menu, but that was enough for us, I had ham egg and chips, and it was lovely. We also enjoyed the unique bar games they had.
- chris (1/5): Waste of time - Nothing Check in was 3pm Arrived at 4.10pm was told room was not ready and would be a couple of hours pointed out check in was 3pm and again told room not ready for a couple of hours waited 45 minutes then gave up didn't stay and drove home
