Guest Reviews
- Lindsay (8/5): Lovely Room - really comfortable Beds . Lovely big shower. - Lovely room with a nice big bathroom .
Nicely laid out - furnished well .
Very comfy beds . When we eventually found the right key box - it was empty .
There were quite a few of them !
Bit confusing .
Front door was unlocked anyway.
Instructions were a bit confusing .
Took us a while .

- Ali (1/5): Terrible hosts that lied - Property not as described there was no kitchen and washer or tumble drier and there was a cancellation fee of £132, totally appalled by this service

- stefanie (4/5): It was cheap to book and we got what we paid for - Location was picked as it was close to where we wanted to visit.
Plenty of off road parking. The bathroom stank of stagnant water.
The floor in the bedroom moved and squeaked every time it was walked on.
The bathroom door was cut vertically in half to make more available space but didn't close as diy was poor.
The back door wouldn't open from outside as the handle had been so damaged. Guests would turn the lock so the door wouldn't shut to give themselves easy access to the property but then leave the door like that so anyone could have had access.
The picture on Booking.com was not the picture of my room. Upstairs (where we stayed) were small rooms and downstairs were suits. The photo was of a suit.
- Komalpreet (10/5): - I really enjoyed my stay! The property was exceptionally clean, my room was super comfortable, and the view was absolutely stunning.
- Ross (10/5): Well worth the price, would definitely book again - The price was affordable, the facilities and room was clean. The whole process was simple. The property was great
- George (10/5): -
- Mrs (10/5): Amazing - Loved it the staff are so friendly and helpful and very understanding Nothing

- Terry (5/5): Wales was a first time visit. - I liked the location in a country side village. I could see for miles when on the top floor of the apartment. I had train travel trips in the surrounding area of South Wales. I enjoyed the stay for the fortnight I was there visiting. The were good places to eat. The restaurant pub nearby was exceptional. First of all, there apartment hotel was great to stay. I had issues! The ammendidies were not I was expecting when staying at the hotel. A broken down electric kettle was found to be faulty. I put water in to make a cup of tea as I drank the drink it tasted of rust! I threw the drink down the sink in disgust! The microwave was not of cleanliness at it stunk of stale food. It was not worth using the both appliances. I has to go to take outs to quench my thirst for a cup of tea. And have meals out at restaurants. Appalling practice of responsibility! I had an issue with other people staying at the hotel. A fire door was left open a jar with a foot mat pushed under to keep it open. "In my retrospective,it is against the law for a fire exit to be left open 24/7". I in the time there at the property did NOT use the fire exit as a open freeway!!! I was going to get in touch with the fire brigade over this matter, as in second thoughts thinking to myself the host of the hotel would get in trouble with the fire authority and get fined! "It is against the law for a fire door to be left open and WILL result of a fine of £2000! I will warn the host get your priorities corrected as if the next time I come to visit and find that there are the same issues I will get in touch with the fire brigade!!! BE WARNED!!!
- Christian (9/5): Good trip with no issues - Perfect for my needs. Clean and comfy
- Christian (10/5): Great apartment with everything you could possibly need - It had a kitchen with washing machine, dinning table and sofa. Really clean fresh.
- bainbridge (10/5): -
Niks. Ik kreeg wat ik verwachte :-) meer zelfs.

- Christian (8/5): Very pleasant stay. Staff helpful - Perfect for me needs.
- Steph (9/5): Excellent would definitely be returning - Great location had plenty of supermarkets on a few minutes drive away and the town isn’t that far to go to, the room had everything you need in there was really nice to have microwave and fridge for convenience and the use of the washing machine/ tumble dryer was added bonus. The room itself was lovey well decorated and cosy. The staff are really helpful when I rang them. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend to friends and family Nothing can’t complain
- Stephanie (10/5): -
- Mandy (1/5): Awful stay - The location was perfect The room was open, there was no key in the lock box, had to call, somome and wait for a spare key,to be dropped off by the grounds man. Got told the cleaner must still have the key, which was not good as we were tired after a long drive. The room was not clean, biscuit wrappers behind bedside drawers, and the fridge had awful smell. Not enough toilet roll for that night, and the bed was uncomfortable
- ruth (1/5): never again, dont waste your money - not much as small as a rabbit hutch, no cups supplied, nowhere to put clothes,
we left after one day, garbage
- Stephanie (3/5): Not great...but it's a roof over heads. - The price wasn't bad. Customer service was responsive, although a bit late with the towels...as we had a graduation ceremony to attend and check out was at 10am, they only responded at around 10am which was way too late. The smell. Even though booked for 4 people not enough bedding or towels. (Only 2 were provided). Difficult to find. Sofa bed wasn't clean.
- Mike (8/5): Very good - Nice area, clean, I was told I had the ground floor apartment but was given a small room upstairs which was difficult as I am disabled.
- Samuel (4/5): Generally, I don't like to complain, but this was just surprisingly poor. - The location was pretty. When we arrived, we noticed that the soap in the room not only had half an inch of soap left in the bottle, but it was also diluted with water! I can't imagine what other shortcuts were taken in preparing the room for us. The room was relatively clean; however, the general upkeep of the property was poor, with plastic wall tiles falling off the wall and the bathroom door being loose. I will add that I was pleasantly surprised that once I had complained, the soap had been replaced by later in the evening of the second day.
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional - Could do with a chair in the bedroom and also there was only one cup, otherwise absolutely excellent can't wait to stay again There was nothing to dislike the room and the view were exceptional real value for money
- Wayne (10/5): Exceptional - Absolute bargain definitely going again Nothing not to like
- Julia (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Everything l needed was in the room, very clean, lovely cosy bed, beautiful scenery, very quiet l really enjoyed my stay l will definitely be staying here again highly recommend this place can't wait to come back Maybe the stairs as l am 70yrs of age but saying that l loved the room and I am quite agile for my age but couldn't fault the place
- Molly (8/5): Very good -
- Amelia (1/5): unhygienic, not as described and an overall terrible experience. - The local pub was situated a few doors down from the property which provided a lovely setting, friendly environment and tasty meals. Swansea was a 25/30 minuet drive to the city center which offered a few decent amenities and things to do. The room did not look like the pictures and was not as advertised. It was advertised as a whole apartment. When we arrived it was a small room which within the space was squeezed in a kettle and microwave ( a few dishes all dirty). The bed had another persons hair in it and the door leading to the private bathroom was broken. After messaging the proprietor of the property asking for a new room or to fix the door. We had no reply or any response since coming home. I would not recommend staying here. Terrible service, facilities and overall experience.
- Burgess (3/5): Not my day but I slept like a log - It was available at short notice This review should be ready in context. I am a very polite person, hate to offend or upset anyone and on the day of my stay had just finished a 200 mile ultramarathon through the Brecon Beacons with 8 hrs sleep in 3 days so I would have rated a night in a bus shelter with a cardboard box as a bed at 4 out of 10 so why am I only giving this a score of 3 you may ask?
I arrived and parked outside and identified the correct building so achieved my goal of arriving at the correct accommodation. My confirmation email had arrived also so it was win win .
I dragged my battered body the 20 metres from the car to the door limping from my previous exertions carrying my bag just as it started to rain.
The first hurdle. The door was locked. No door bell just 2 key boxes. One high and one at ankle height.
I checked my email. No mention of key codes. Strange I thought. I rang the number on the email and got through to a call centre.
By now the rain was hammering down. I squeezed as tight to the wall as possible but there was no shelter. I surrendered to the misery of the rain, it was no worse than running 200 miles.
The chap on the other end seemed helpful. He asked whether I had completed the mandatory ID check?
No, what's one of those I asked.
He then sent me a link on WhatsApp. That arrived. By now my phone screen was wet and jumping about as electric items don't like rain much.
I clicked the link, entered my name , went to page 2..form of ID...it asked for passport. I was in Wales and had been running, I live in England and so ot wasn't part of my packing for this trip. Fortunately I had my driving license. I balanced this on my knee in the failing light and on one unsteady exhausted leg took a half drenched photo of my licence. Pressed send and hey presto I got a key code. Yippee
I tried the code. It didn't work.
Luckily the chap from the call centre was on the phone still. I explained the scenario. I asked if he knew what the problem was.
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Clean Smell of smoke when open the window
- Jo (4/5): Won’t use again - Nothing Room was far to small and I don’t think we was given the right room as it wasn’t the one in the picture, beside light was broken, window handle was broken and 2 toilet rolls for a 5 night stay is poor, nightmare to get into when we got there, and don’t get me started on the neighbours chickens at 5am, garden benches were falling apart and nothing like the pictures online
- Kevin (3/5): appalling - shambles had to send photos of my passport to them at 1pmo'clock in the night after driving 4hrs was not pleased .. and it says apartments..it is not it Is a tiny hotel room with ensuite and no kitchen not even a chair to sit on . everything . booking in and the room
- Marcelle (10/5): Exceptional - Property as described, there is a nice decking and seating area you can enjoy if the weather is nice.
Staff were great, very helpful and attentive.
- Jon (6/5): Pleasant - Could do with some direction signs to locate rooms.
Poor fitting toilet seat
Very lumpy mattress
Room smelt damp
- Margaret (1/5): Bad -
- Peter (1/5): I left immediately - The room was damp and it stank.
I left immediately and did not stay there. I requested a refund which I haven’t received yet, and I’ll take it up with the card company. Dampness
Smell
No Refund yet.
- Lloyd (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (8/5): Very good - They had washing facilities Door didn't fit in room for bathroom however very nice room.
- Natalia (7/5): Overall a good stay - The location was very good. Tidy bedroom with towels, and clean bedding. Coffee and tea provided, microwave and fridge very useful The soap dispensers were keep falling of the wall in the bathroom ( shower) one dispenser the top was missing and was full of water. The other one had half body wash inside.
Only 2 toilet rolls.
Parking seemed to always be full
- Chris (6/5): Adequate for my needs at the time. - Catering not applicable. Location is OK. Building works ongoing but outside area is very untidy, not welcoming at all.
- Sie (10/5): Very relaxing - The room was lovely Nothing
- Gary (3/5): Poor - Shower flooded every night .
Nobody came to fix.tv stopped working on two nights.
Only one plate to eat off.
- Joseph (1/5): Never again - No breakfast The room was tiny.
The bed was awful.
The tele didn't work.
The neighbour snored like a pig
- Jon (7/5): Good -
- Katie (8/5): Good value for money - Spacious, it had a fridge microwave and kettle in the room. The bathroom was very nice, lovely shower. Wasn’t disabled friendly with the amount of stairs in and out of the property but we got used too it.
- Tony (6/5): Pleasant -
- Chris (5/5): adequate for my needs at the time. - Location was good for my needs. On line instructions not received before departure therefore difficult to gain entry on arrival. Do not own a smart phone,i-pad or laptop. No one on site to assist non tech guests.
External area very shabby, not a good first impression.
- Alice (9/5): Superb - Excellent facilities, support on the phone was exceptional.
Excellent value for money The shower was small and overflowed easily. Shower needs a good scrub on the grouting to remove the mould.
- Karen (7/5): Nice stay for discovering south Wales on a low budget - There were extra things in the room , an iron and iron board , coffee tea sugar and 2 milk sachets . Also a fan , cloth, sponge dishes and cutlery etc. It was very hot weather and the room even with fan , was so hot at night . The shower was very small and not suitable for slightly larger people , we just managed . Outside was very bare not like on web with flowers umbrellas . Bins were overloaded with rubbish
- Andy (5/5): Passable -
- Carolina (4/5): All that was available on short notice - Pros:
- bed was comfy
- parking
- mini fridge + microwave
- small set of drawers
- Staff seemed attentive via email / booking messages The room I got was extremely small, and had not been cleaned properly.
Cons:
- No handle on the folding bathroom door.
- Sewerage smell in the room especially on the first and second mornings
- There was hardly any toilet paper.
- nowhere to sit except bed or floor
- walls are very thin, you can hear everything through them
I probably wouldn't return - only booked this place on short notice because that's all that was available. It's serviceable for a couple nights if you just need somewhere to sleep and it's local to where you need to be.
- Mark (1/5): Worse booking ever. Stay away better accommodation can be found elsewhere - Access was not forthcoming. Customer services aggressive. Had to find accommodations elsewhere All of it. Will never use again
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Brilliant view out every day so used as a base so perfect for that Little cramped with 2 beds and a sofa but managed
- Patrick (8/5): Lovely - No breakfast Prefer to have person greet you .
- Jessica (7/5): Enjoyable stay. - Clean room, easy process, overall good 🙂👍
Thank you The room could do with a little maintenance.
- shower door
- microwave door
- window locks
- Lynda (9/5): Comfortable. Secure Great views .clean - Comfortable. Location.Price. security.large room Layout could be better .maybe microwave on a shelf to give more work space .and a small stool by big mirror for doing hair and makeup
- Ricardo (10/5): Exceptional - Great neighborhood and have access to Parking lot
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect, matched description exactly what was required
- Matthew (2/5): Very poor -
- Barbara (3/5): For my purposes, location was absolutely PERFECT. The New Lodge currently under refurbishment. Numerous improvements s - It was comfortable in a scenic location Extreme difficulty accessing entry, damp odour upon entering the room, room not serviced during an 8 day stay, no staff member or other occupant ever apparent on the premises, internet not available on departure morning (06:30 attempted to report an issue not possible without internet - even though departure time stated to be 8-10am), heating on for short periods of time possibly twice each day and no option to self-determine heating on or off. Transparency as to whether option to have room serviced, ? WAS THIS PART OF THE AGREEMENT NOT MADE CLEAR in description of the facility. Bath towels did not dry. Lack of toiletries- virtually none (suggest always bring one’s own, even loo paper!!)
- Marrick (7/5): Pleasant and convenient for the purpose - Parking, neat, clean, great shower, facilities No desk / chair at which to do work
- Thomas (5/5): Passable - What breakfast??!!!
- Katherine (6/5): Pleasant -
- David (9/5): If all self catering are this good I will be booking more of them. - Easy to obtain keys via key safe. Full kitchen with oven, halogen hob, fridge, all the pots/pans dishes/bowls and a washing/drying machine. Large tv with ...... Netflix - Amazon Prime - YouTube already loaded, just have your own login details. WIFI was full strength with no drop-outs. Close to a good quality pub with excellent food. Ample off road parking with good views except I visited during winter so was generally dark when I returned to property so couldn't really enjoy the views. Would fit a roof over the rear decking to keep rain off, and I suppose the sun in summer.
- Suhair (1/5): Horrible I need a refund as I had to leave it ,was booked for a week stayed only 2 days - The room was freezing cold
The room was not clean
There was dirty unwashed cups The room is very tiny and unclean
- Sami (7/5): Meh - It was ok for what we needed, wouldnt book it for anything else other than running errands The heating was sporadically on so it was always cold
People in other rooms where always loud
Shower leaks into the floor
- Mradzi (7/5): Good -
- Sherelle (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (7/5): averagely okay - it was cozy just 2 tissue paper for 9 nights , no exchange of towels, no cleaners on site for 9 night . no where to do laundry .
- Mónica (8/5): Very good -
- Solly (9/5): Superb - Good hot shower, warm room. Mattress boney & bed rather small.
- Ameen (8/5): Very good -
- Sabina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adebimpe (7/5): Good -
- Kola (9/5): Superb -
- Damien (10/5): Lovely place. - Lovely room. Clean, tidy, modern. The price for our stay was spot on also. I couldn't find switches for lamps behind beds, could have done with cosier lighting in general for the evenings.
- Damien (10/5): A cosy little hideaway - The room was perfect, clean and spacious, absolutely ideal. It far outweighed what I expected. The location is peaceful and quiet, the view from the room was lovely, opening the curtains in the morning was blissful. Myself and my children felt perfectly relaxed during our stay. Struggling to find anything I didn't like about the place. A very minor irk was that the room could have done with cosier lighting for the evening, maybe a lamp. That is a very minor complaint though.
- Nevin (1/5): DO NOT STAY HERE FOR MORE THAN ONE NIGHT!!!!! - The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean. The room was warm. The room was tiny. Please do not be fooled by the photograph of a large room with a sofa and large window.
The TV was not tuned in properly. I had no TV access in a small room on my own for two weeks. The "Watch live TV" put up a message that the TV was not properly connected to the aerial!!
No facilities for washing either clothes, cutlery, or dishes. The sink in the room is tiny!!
There was no seat in the room. You have to sit on the edge of the bed, even to eat a meal.
There was no room cleaning or bed changing for two weeks.
- Sarah (9/5): We had a lovely short break. Facilities were good and the room clean and comfortable. - Everything was clean & comfortable. Nothing
- Peter (1/5): Didn't stay there, but we took photos. I'll be looking to recover my costs. - We didn't stay there, we were re-located to a room in Swansea.,after many telephone conversations.Initially with Bianca, then with Lauren. We only accessed the building by fluke. The 2 doors to the front, would not give us access ,but we found a rear door. On accessing the room,we found it to be a single room. I have by email, 2 persons. Lauren told us it was our fault. It wasn't. I never nominated a room. Booking.com, allocated the room. Nothing.Advertised on their ,updated by trip advisor 2023,as a hotel, restaurant ,bar With many photos of food. The place was a tip. What I presumed was the restaurant, bar, was non existent, littered with builders rubble. The front door step, had days, of mail laying on it.there are rat poison boxes, set around the building. We've taken photos. The staff level is non-existent,this is not a hotel,as advertised.I paid for the accommodation 02/05, days later booking.com ,asked me for a further £150-00, deposit ,which I paid, not yet refunded. They also asked for passport or driving licence photo.I'm 76 years old. I don't have the technology to email that. So I sent my passport number.Having sorted, alternative accommodation, Lauren, told us it was for free.It wasn't for free , it was, that were weren't to be charged any different. She said where we were going ,was a studio flat, with ensuite bath,so we could shower or bath. It was a small room, along way from studio, there was no bath. There was no sit out area,no wi-fi, no off street parking, all said or seen to be available at the New Lodge. We spent the 2 days, travelling to and from Alltwen, to see family and for the funeral. At my cost and inconvenience. This has been a bad experience.
- Iain (8/5): Large family room in a good location - Great size room and the bathroom was huge.
The in room fridge, microwave and kettle were a definite plus as there isn’t a breakfast offering at this property.
My son and I slept very well in the comfy beds
Handy pub a few doors down that did excellent food too. Bonus! Was a little concerned at the totally “people free” check in and correspondence via text messages to begin with ; but it was well organised and all messages were responded to very quickly. Very professional and efficient.
- Lee (8/5): Quiet location with plenty of facilities close by! - Good location, great steak restaurant ( The Butchers) just 50m away ( closed Monday & Tuesday) and a Lovely pub ( Gwyn Arms ) just 120m further away ( open every day ). Comfortable stay in a quiet location with lovely views down the Swansea Valley.
- Sandra (3/5): I had stayed in apartment 7 and it was very good but this was like a box no room at all was not an apartment - The location was OKHandy to town My confirmation said it was an apartment it was very small no chair or table and the TV was pay only no free TV
- Damion (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sandra (9/5): Very good room 7 - Good kitchen and plenty of space Rubbish and weeds everywhere but someone did come and cleaned up a little
- Coumba (8/5): nice stay at the new lodge. highly recommended. - nice and clean. easy check in. small shower, not enough room.
- Jim (2/5): Very poor - Not much The description and pictures were misleading. It was a late booking and described a suite. It was a tiny room, with a single bed. No staff present and tried multiple times to contact the administrator for a code to get in. Part building site. Noisy when the local youth were pursued late into night by the police.
