Guest Reviews
- Jana (7/5): - The location is amazing, however i communicated with the host that 3 people will be coming and the host confirmed that there will be enough towels and blakets for all of us. When we arrived it was obvious that the place was set up for 2 people, having only 2 sets of towels and a nice gift of a sleeping mask and ear plugs, but only two of those… the third person on the couch had to use a thin blanket left on top of the main bed to cover themselves. If that was in order it would be amazing for the price, but since I talked to the host beforehand and they confirmed that there will be enough of everything for 3 people i have to give a lower grade. The communication prior to the arrival was excellent, but when we arrived I asked if there are more blankets and that question was never answered… all in all good value for money
- Santosh (3/5): Ok but not oleasant! - Kitchen and main bed was good Shower room is too narrow even for a medium sized person. The shower was not accurate, sometimes very hot, sometimes very cold and the toilet is a specimen.
- Shawkia (5/5): - Change the mattress it was like sleeping on a box of springs it's too soft and two springy the bathroom the toilet does not flush with one flush you have to wait to the bowl refill again to flush the shower not enough water coming out the shower head especially photo heavy people the sink not enough water coming out the faucet to wash your hands in the bathroom the living room couch was okay but a little hard overall everything else was a plus it had all the things you need to cook the refrigerator also was nice but the TV it had no channels to watch cable like Netflix and things like that you had to put in your own subscription for the price it should be TV apps on the TV already the value was a little high the price needs to come down cuz it's not worth it price but overall I love the place I was comfortable it was clean I slept comfortable but I didn't The bathroom shower needs more water to come out the shower head yes the sink needs more water to come out the faucet to wash your hands the toilet doesn't flush on one flush you need to wait till the toilet bowl feel again to flush it the big you need a new bed definitely it's too soft and springy it's not for everyone it needs more things like blender juicer it needs more like an air fryer and in the closet it should have more linens and towels to change especially for people who are there more than a week and the price the value was not worth it they need to come down on the price my opinion until new bed and other things are put into the property to charge $1500 and the steps in the hallway needs to be repaired they are all make sounds and noises when you walk up and down the steps
- Lillian (8/5): Very good -
- Hall (7/5): Good -
- Hutchens (1/5): Bad - Upon entering the property, in the dead of winter, I was greeted with an alarming infestation of horse flies. None outside the building, only inside. Coupled with a terrifying smell. When I notified the host, their solution was to enter the property while I was at work, without any warning, spray a ton of raid, and leave without cleaning up any of the dead bugs, they then refused to give back my money even though I only stayed for one night because the infestation made the property uninhabitable. I only got my money back once I filed a claim with my bank. I would never stay here or any other location managed by "Work in Paradise LLC" a company that I cant even seem to find any information for online, ever again. Worst stay of my life, booking.com. was no help at all with getting my money back. Beware!
- Maria (1/5): Uncomfortable, lack of maintenance and wouldn’t stat there again… - Location The apartment is located on the 5th floor with no elevator. The sofa bed is extremely uncomfortable and small—I am 1.65m (5’5”) tall, and I couldn’t fully stretch my legs due to its size. Additionally, no sheets or blankets were provided for the sofa bed, and only two towels were supplied despite the reservation being made for three guests.
I requested additional linens and towels at 6:00 PM and followed up at 9:00 PM, but I did not receive a response until 9:54 PM. By that time, I had already gone out to purchase them myself, as these are basic necessities. When I informed the hosts the next morning, they did not respond.
Furthermore, the spare pillow had no pillowcase and was stored in a closet next to a broom. The apartment was in poor condition—dusty, rundown, and had flies. In the shower, I even found a razor protector left behind by a previous guest, which further emphasized the lack of proper maintenance.
The plug where the microwave is doesn’t work so you have to move it to the other side of the counter to use it.
The laundry area in the basement was filled with trash and appeared completely neglected. Given these conditions, I would never stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it.
- Amy (9/5): Excellent place with just a few "need-to-knows" - Very clean, super comfy, and a fabulous location! They provided an electric kettle with green tea (nice for a very chilly Philly weekend), coffee maker, and an iron. It definitely had everything i needed. Owner is very responsive. I was unprepared for a 5th floor walk up. The baseboard heating and street noise were loud, but they provided ear plugs. I just used a noise app to drown it out. The shower is small. Again, just something to be prepared for. It was clean and the hot water was plentiful.
- Paul (3/5): Disappointed by the facilities on offer and lack of reasonable response from owners. - Great location for Reading food market, city centre and bars. We are experienced travellers who have work experience in Hospitality, Catering, Accommodation and customer service. A variety of issues let down this facility.
Started with trying to enter the premises. The door is blue (not green), the lock box was incorrectly labelled and the door, although only metres away is on a different street. The communal entrance was not cared for with litter and empty coffee cups left throughout the stay. There is no mention of it being on the 5th floor (no lift, should some require it).
The apt is advertised to sleep 3 but the sofa bed is no way comfortable at all. As temp. was unseasonally 80 it would have been appreciated to either have access to air con or open the windows (would not open and had 2 broken panes of glass). A proper curtain , instead of a net curtain would aid sleeping in on a sunny morning.
Ornaments on bedside table utterly useless.....perhaps bedside lights would be useful !
The kitchen is poorly equipped for a week long stay.
The shower room is tiny and requires decorating and a decent upgrade, particularly the plumbing.
Tv instructions would help. Lack of any decent channels that we could find.
This facility does not warrant the price tag. Beware of changing number of guests as this seemingly requires a surcharge even though staying within the 3 it accommodates
