Guest Reviews
- Dawn (7/5): Lovely stay and an unusual space to sleep which embraces the outdoor green space it sits in with a beautiful tree and se - Quirky and private with a lovely outdoor area and peaceful. Toilet and shower in a separate building which is a few steps away but it means having to go outside and walk which is not an issue in good weather but could be uncomfortable in heavy rain or if you are someone who needs easy toilet access throughout the night.
- Samantha (9/5): Well worth a visit you won’t be disappointed - We loved that the property was small and cosy in an idyllic rural setting. The host Lisi went above and beyond our expectations during our stay., even hand delivering us a newly built bbq! The breakfast was well thought out and the bed was extremely comfortable. If you love wildlife this is the place for you, with wall to wall windows you can see creatures of all kinds from, goats to Guinea pigs, squirrels to hares and ducks to fish! We would 100% recommend staying here. Nothing we didn’t like. Just an observation really. The patio outside the boot room and the pier decking were covered in dead leaves and the windows in need of a clean but nothing that affected our stay. The toilet and shower room would benefit from heating in the cooler months.
- Vicky88Cs (10/5): Gorgeous find! - Everything. I stumbled across this quirky little place whilst looking for somewhere quiet and quaint to bring our pooch. We love stays a little bit different and this was just that. What a gorgeous little home! The hosts were super friendly from the booking, we never had a chance to say hello but they left everything we needed to have a perfect stay. If your looking for somewhere to reset, refresh and do nothing with a switch off this is place. Surrounded by nature, wildlife, stunning trees and green fields for miles, I could have sat there for ages watching out. The place is cosy, clean has hot water machine and coffee machine, we absolutely loved the breakfast provided, complete with fresh juices in the fridge, crossiants, muffins (delicious) brunch bars, yoghurts, fruit, it was lovely to have to hand and not have to think ahout what to take. It's clean and cosy and such a peaceful nights sleep. The toilet is a few steps out the door, complete with shower and towels etc also this didn't bother us as we have stayed in similar accommodation. We didn't get to make use of the little jetty over the water or the fire pit as the weather was a bit chilly and damp but we hope to return!
Make sure you say hello to the local resident goats and guineas! Thanks for a wonderful stay and for accommodating our fur baby. We can't wait to visit again. Nothing really only issue we had was Shower took a little while to heat up.
- Isis (10/5): Absolutely beautiful - It’s a unique little room in the middle of no where you can let your worry’s slip away.
After a bumpy start to my 3 day trip with my car breaking down and me no reaching my first desination, this little cute room was the salvation of my trip.
Hot chocolate by the fire
Dog running around free
Some lovey goats you can feed.
Lovely little continental breakfast In the morning.
The room its self had great atmosphere, with a rustic country vibe, everything you need is facilitated
The toilets are a couple feet away which is perfect for the mornings to wake you up.
Very close to York in the car
I can’t wait to book again, as soon as possible.
- Katie (9/5): Much needed country escape - we absolutely loved how cute the lodge is! The surroundings were stunning - the sunshine made it even prettier. The WiFi was reaaally slow
The breakfast was disappointing; I told them my sister was GF so she got some coconut chocolate cookies instead of a croissant - it felt asthough they has rushed to look through their cupboard to find something. The croissant I was given was out of date. The coffee machine didn't work. The glasses were dirty. None of this would put me off staying again - i would just make sure to take my own breakfast and coffee next time!
- Jackson (10/5): - Warm, lovely room and amazing views No negatives
- Rochell (3/5): -
- Zandra (7/5): -
- Jean (6/5): Enjoyable with lovely countryside location near York. - Location beautiful, bedroom & living area great with WiFi & tv and really comfy bed. Brilliant for dog owners too! I think it needs to be made clearer that all bathroom facilities are in (very) nearby building. Daytime ok but not so good overnight in wind/rain. Breakfast could be improved with some savoury options as well as sweet. In either location on site a mirror with plug nearby for hairdryer would be helpful!
- Darren (1/5): Waste of money. Might as well have stayed in a shed in the park - Nothing First we couldn’t open the door, then when we did get in we noticed there were no toilet or washing facilities. No water, no cooking facilities. It was crafty and dirty. Was basically a double glazed shed with a bed and fairy lights. We stayed long enough to walk the dog them got back in the car and came home. The owners said they were transparent about the lack of facilities but booking.com are not. My birthday treat was ruined and my husband is £200 down.
- Mathew (9/5): It’s great to stay somewhere with unique charm and individual appeal - It’s a lovely, cosy property in a countryside location. Nothing significant
- Tim (1/5): Warning... no ensuite bathroom - Bed was comfortable Total misrepresentation for this listing. It is reasonable to expect a "deluxe bungalow" has ensuite bathroom. No mention - none - in the listing saying that the bathroom is some distance away, requiring- for me - dark, rainy journeys in the night. The owner claims they have no control over this in the Booking.com listing. As it stands this is very overpriced. And no site of breakfast either.
- Sandra (8/5): -
- Paulien (8/5): Prima, mag beter schoon gemaakt worden, insecten/ spinnenwebben / stof aanwezig - Mooie rustige locatie De aparte douche/ wc. Was niet heel duidelijk vermeldt
- Teenu Maria (9/5): -
- James (10/5): - The scenery and the accommodation was amazing Nothing
- Em7pink (10/5): - It was beautiful, peaceful with a romantic vibe
- Nikki (9/5): -
- Charlene (10/5): -
- Chris (10/5): - Really enjoyed our stay thank you for making it special.
Would definitely recommend.
- Emma (10/5): Wonderful- a little gem in the wilderness - The accommodation is beautiful and really cosy. Setting was so calm and peaceful and the hosts have thought of everything. The breakfast was amazing! Nothing! It isn’t the easiest place to find but the hosts have good instructions.
- Debra (9/5): - Lovely to have breakfast brought to the door on a tray, could get used to that! Lovely views. Rabbits and goats to pet. Just lovely. Nice walks.
- Georgia (9/5): Charming, comfortable, and cosy. - This cosy and comfortable place is perfect for a cute little getaway. Highly recommend!
- Calum (8/5): Great location in North Yorkshire - The location The outdoor toilet, but it wasn’t a big issue
- Maxine (9/5): Fab get away from it all stay… great for dogs. - Lovely clean. Love the history of the building. Small space perfectly used. Great out door space. Lovely welcome complementary pack. Our continental breakfast was left in the small fridge in the forge. The host messaged to say they were away for the night. Which was fine with us. All information there that we needed. They were a phone call away if needed. It is near the main house, which has a boot room with extra plates ect if needed. Plus a fridge with drinks in, also sweets and logs ect you can purchase. A microwave. With the toilet and shower room off. It’s only 40 steps away so not a problem to us. There’s a small fridge, coffee machine and water machine (instead of kettle). We took our slow cooker. Our collie dog loved the freedom to run around. The pond and was great full of fish loved watching them. Big old trees, plenty of seating outside. A section fenced off for dogs just around the corner. Lovely walks. It was so peaceful, only saw a few walkers/joggers and one horse rider. A tranquil place if you just want to get away from it all. PS I messaged to apologise because our dog went on the bed cover with his muddy paws but it wasn’t a problem. You can see it’s given a full deep clean after each stay. Nothing not to like on our stay. Would benefit from a sink to wash pots. But we just leave them in boot room for host to take care of. (I felt bad leaving dirty plates) … there is a cafe on site which wasn’t open when we stayed. I don’t know how this would impact on the tranquility of the stay when open. Definitely nothing we didn’t like. Plus on a review I read someone said no mirror in the room. When we got there there was a mirror. So obviously Lisa and Daniel take on board what is pointed out. So don’t be frightened to ask….
- Abby (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dawn (8/5): Idyllic setting. - Idyllic setting, beautiful fittings. Incredibly tranquil. The one thing that spoiled this place for us was the lack of an en-suite bathroom. Having to walk 50 paces (I counted!) to the bathroom in the middle of the night is not fun. This is not made clear in the information and I wish I’d read the reviews before booking. It’s a pity, because other than that this is a beautiful little place with charming hosts.
- Louise (10/5): Perfect little break away - Beautiful little place. So cosy. Breakfast was fantastic. Location was perfect.
- Darren (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable private and peaceful. Great surroundings. Very helpful hosts.. would definitely stay again. Could do with a next day freshen up. Maybe a jacuzzi?
- Jess (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (9/5): Beautiful quiet location - Beautiful location and postcode took us straight to it. The bed was extremely comfortable, had a good sleep, and the surrounding really are idilic. We would say the bbq we found to be abut grubby and glad we brought something to cook on as we didn’t want to put food straight on it.
Logs/ charcoal were provided for the bbq and fire pit at an extra fee so that was handy.
Breakfast was lovely.
Thank you for having us.
- Richard (6/5): Pretty place, bathroom is a walk away across the garden and this should’ve been clearer - The location was very pretty and peaceful. It’s about 50 yards across the garden and driveway to the boot room and bathroom. It’s not lit, and is weird wondering around in your pyjamas at 2am! And cold. We were glad it wasn’t raining. I didn’t read the reviews before I booked, some do mention the bathroom issue. My issue is I think the owners should make it clear in their promotional materials exactly where the bathroom is. There isn’t even a basin in the room. Minor winge, no bedside lighting or access to overheads so had to get out of bed and turn overheads off on the opposite side of the room. The room warmed up quickly, the bed is comfortable with lovely clean bedding, the pond and garden and very pretty. If you don’t mind the bathroom issue it’s a pretty place to stay.
- Khadijha (10/5): Wonderful retreat! - Wonderful little place in a beautiful location! Only stayed over for one night, but it was a perfect little last minute get away. A nice break, with the pooches to relax and unwind. Great area for scenic walks. Breakfast of our choosing served to our door in the morning, at a time of our choosing also, was a lovely touch and thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed. Fantastic! Nothing.
- Colin (8/5): Definitely remote but exceptional - Breakfast was great and great location
- Nicholas (9/5): Loved it! - Idyllic location with great views, especially appreciated whilst sat having breakfast.
Quality and comfort from every aspect. One slight niggle - I couldn’t get hot water in the shower in the morning; thought it did work the previous evening.
- Charlene (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful place. The Forge was lovely, inside and out. Thoughtful touches to all of it. The complimentary welcome trays were fab. Very cosy little bungalow. Breakfast was lovely. Absolutely beautiful views. So quiet and peaceful. All you can hear are the birds and owls 🙂. Little squirrels come to visit. Loved every minute. The hosts have made it a truly magical beautiful place. Would definitely visit again. Nothing we didn't like. The bathroom is separate but that didn't bother us, wasn't a problem.
- Danny (10/5): Exceptional - The property and the morning views was amazing We wasn't keen on the seperate toilet a little en suite in there would be perfect. It wasn't nice going out into the cold but apart from that it was perfect. Also the check out time we wish it could of been later to enjoy our morning together cos we felt like we had to rush a little bit this morning to be out of there. But all in all it was good just wish we could of stayed another night aswell cos 1 night doesn't feel enough the time went so quickly but thankyou for letting us stay we really appreciate it.
- Zara (9/5): A peaceful retreat - came back well rested. - A beautiful location, with cute and cosy accommodation. The hosts were extremely helpful and kind and easily contactable. Superb - nothing to improve
- Sydnie (10/5): We loved our stay! We will be returning - The breakfast was great! More options than expected
- Jenny (8/5): We enjoyed our stay and would stay again, thank you. - The Forge is situated in a remote location which we loved. Owls seranading you all night and a sky full of stars. I took my dog and he loved romping around the grounds, although we had an unexpected encounter with an escaped guinea pig, who thankfully shot back under its fenced enclosure as my dog raced towards it! The bed was very comfortable. It was December and a bit chilly, but once the electric fire was turned up it soon warmed up. And Lisi was very accomodating filling up our hot water bottles. The breakfast is delivered each morning on a tray, quite a treat to have breakfast in bed. Fresh baked pastries (were a little doughy inside and needed a bit longer in the oven), granola, yoghurt and juices. I had gluten free pancakes with berry compote which was delicious. There was also a very nice selection of complimentary local goods on a tray, biscuits, crisps, popcorn and chocolate, good snacks and hot chocolate for bed time. Tea and coffee in the room too. The TV worked well for movies and wifi was good too. There are also plates, cups, cutlery, bottle openers to use in the room attached to the bathroom outside. The bathroom is not attached to the forge, its about 40 feet away, it was not heated so we had to ask for heat to be put on, which they did do on the last night. The electric shower was not at all powerful, more of a dribble to stand under which in a cold bathroom was not ideal. There was no where in the actual bedroom to wash your hands even, maybe a washstand with basin of water in there would be an idea if plumbing is not available? Also a kettle in the room other than the coffee machine would be helpful.
- Neneh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mia (10/5): So relaxing! Will definitely be back. - Perfect location, lovely hosts and all round amazing stay! The bungalow is so cosy and was just what me and my auntie needed. They were so lovely about my reactive/ nervous dog and she loved having space to run around without the need to worry about other dogs, was amazing! The breakfast was perfect and the fire on the evening just topped the night off lovely! Nothing! The toilets weren’t an issue, just a few steps into a nice warm outbuilding! Would recommend slippers/ slide ons/ crocs just for ease and quickness.
- Carole (10/5): Peaceful, beautiful place to stay. Highly recommended - Beautiful location and fabulous accommodation Nothing
- Joyce (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - Very cosy and great service Cold shower
- Samantha (10/5): We had a lovely 2 night stay, lovely location owners were friendly they had thought of everything. We didn’t mind walkin - Lovely location so peaceful, clean and comfortable. Nothing
- Gillian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ali (9/5): Spot on . - Very nice breakfast basket . Lovely room and private location . All great really but ensuite would be nice .
- Vicky (10/5): Exceptional - very nice location, the owner is lovely, went out of her way to make our stay a great experience 😀
- Will (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jason (7/5): Good - It was very cosy, cute and romantic, hosts where there to help with any questions. It was very private with lovely views, could see lots off different wildlife which was cute too. Lovely complementary items such as crisps, popcorn etc, could tell alot of thought had gone into it. Toilet/bathroom had plaster peeling off the wall, toilet it's self was clean however surrounding areas like doors, skirting boards and sink where dirty and the shower head wasn't very powerful at all, luckily it was a warm evening/morning as can imagine it would get quite cold in there.
Also a torch or added outside lighting I think would be beneficial for the night time trips to toilet.
- Adam (10/5): Amazing stay, recommend if doing way of the roses 🚲 - Both of us blown away - beautiful stay and even the booking page doesn’t do the place justice. First impressions included a Guinea Pig parish(!) and horses!
The entire stay was fantastic and very accommodating of our bikes (brilliant place to stop if doing way of the roses).
We also stopped off in Bishop Wilton for a pint at the Fleece Inn and found the village to be one of the prettiest stops on the route.
Both of us left a bit unhappy that we hadn’t had more time to enjoy our stay. Can’t wait to come back!!
- Jade (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Elliot (10/5): Perfect - Couldn’t have been better. Lovely stay with lovely people
- Nusrat (10/5): Magic - Idyllic location. lt was a peaceful and tranquil. Nothing it was perfect.
- Chloe (10/5): Exceptional - We’re to start about this little gem! Honestly incredible. The forge is in a stunning location with so much grounds to yourself including a table by the lake, huge trees and fields. It’s absolutely stunning as a whole, so peaceful and tranquil. Nobody is around they are both available at any time if you have any issues at all! We took our dog and he had the best time! He got to run through the fields safe & happy. Amazing customer service to say the least. Lisi couldn’t do enough for us. She went out and got banners and balloons for my partner and made it extra special. She left us a lovely welcome gift basket with lots of treats and a lovely bathroom basket. We got some pre packed wood for the evening and had a lovely log fire & cooked our tea on the bbq. It was just faultless and stunning! In the morning we took a beautiful walk and the views are spectacular! Even pony’s on the ground to see, we was then brought a delicious fresh basket of baked goodies and fresh friend with juice and other bits. There is nothing these two haven’t thought of. Exactly what we needed to just escape busy life. Definitely be returning when we get the chance! Thank you so much, honestly if you are thinking of coming there you will not regret it. Amazing all round from the people to the place! Thank you xxx Can’t fault this in anyway at all, the best place we have ever stayed xxx
- Paul (9/5): Lovely quiet country setting - The location is lovely - very quiet (at the end of a country lane)
The accommodation itself is very relaxing to be in
There's an excellent BBQ so it's possible to "eat in" (there's a great butcher in Stamford Bridge to stock up) The toilet and shower is in a different building - it's only 10 yards away and not a great issue if staying one night. The accommodation would be fabulous if a lean-to extension could be added for a toilet and shower room.
The coffee machine is great, but we got through a lot of milk sachets. It would be good to have a (very) small fridge with a small bottle of milk.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - The location is idyllic, so beautiful. The weather!! Can't blame the Old Forge for that though.
- Cheryl (7/5): Very pretty location, a bit out of the way for us but we still enjoyed our stay - Breakfast was really good.
Bed very comfortable.
The lady was very nice and helpful.
Pretty location. The location was a bit out of the way for us, no signs for the old forge once you where in Bishop Wilton, asked a local but they didn’t know.
nothing to do locally so had to drive.
- Rachel (3/5): Very upset. After 8 years. A 2 night break Left us more stressed we wasted money could not afford to - Location wildlife Cleanliness cutlery dirty cups covered in cobwebs . Bathroom shower wasn’t clean, dirty towel on radiator when arrived.
We were expecting more info on area local pubs etc.. 1st day found out local pub closed. Village shop closed at 3.30pm . Spent 1/2hr on internet as owner suggested all pubs closed Mon-Wed or stop serving foo at 6pm.
We had come for wedding anniversary and so was looking forward to a pub meal. Ended up dashing to co op in pockton as husband diabetic and needed carbs as his sugars were going low.
Had takeaway came back to find the cutlery in the draws were not cleaned properly. Glasses were grubby.
2nd Eve after a very wet day husband nearly slipped on decking my whippet ran across it slid off with green marks all over her .
Went to get clean cutlery and bowls as again no food venues open found plates and cutlery dirty still on tray.
There was nothing on the breakfast menu my husband could eat .
- Rachel (9/5): Perfect little hideaway in lovely surroundings. - The cosy accommodation, lovely surroundings and friendly hosts - there if you needed them but not imposing. Breakfast and gelato were a lovely, and welcome, touch. Lots of little touches had been carefully thought about, such as umbrellas, toiletries, wood and bbq supplies available, the welcome book and lovely treats. We loved watching the hedgehog, squirrels, owls, bats and hare when we were sat outside. Not much not to like! A mirror somewhere in the room would have been handy but not a big issue as could just nip over to the toilet area.
- John (9/5): A peaceful break. - Peaceful rural location. Clean and well presented. Very comfortable. Signage to arrive could be clearer but instructions given.
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - the place was amazing & so quiet when we got there. Lisi & Daniel have created a little tranquil space that immediately chills you out. Met us when we arrived & really friendly explaining things to us about the place...An amazing space & a little jetty on the pond, fire pit & a choice of nice places to sit outside & relax.a choice of breakfast was spot on for us,nice & fresh brought at a time you requested..couldn't ask for more.🙂👍.Will definitely be going back soon. nothing, the place was amazing to stay at. Would recommend staying there.
- David (9/5): relaxing getaway - exellent stay compfy bed sleeped well host cound do enough.tranquill setting with a lake will go back i aheart beat thanks for having us nothing
- Janette (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was absolutely fantastic! xxx
- Ronan (10/5): The perfect place to unwind and chill - Spotless and very well presented Likes it all
- Barrett (10/5): Amazing location, hosts and accommodation would definitely recommend and return again soon I hope - The location was stunning and peaceful set next to some woods and a pond with a large horse chesnut tree next to the accommodation. Bird song was abundant and beautiful. The hosts were very welcoming and went beyond to make the experience good. The forge is a lovely rustic little building and very comfortable. Nothing
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic setting, lovely outdoor seating, very relaxed, quiet area.
Comfortable bed. Nothing, everything was great.
- Phil (10/5): An absolute gem! - Perfect setting. Exceptionally presented, the attention to detail sets this place apart. Nothing...
- Mandy (10/5): Another magical stay - Another magical night away in this delightful place to stay. We chose to return as we'd enjoyed it so much, and it was just as exciting. Such a lot of effort has gone into making this place special. The snack and breakfast are a real treat.
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely loved it stunning location plus there was a small pond which was full of small fish we were offered food in the morning and evening can't fault this place at all 10/10 from me
- Mandy (10/5): Magical place - What a magical place. We couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear from start to finish. The wonderful hosts who were so helpful. Gorgeous setting. Peace and tranquility... what a treat!
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jodie (10/5): Perfect tranquil stay for 2 - Brilliant overnight stay for a couple. We wanted some where with nothing and no one and that's what it was with beautiful surroundings.
The free breakfast was really nice & treats left a nice touch. Only tiny thing I could say is heating in the bathroom as was rather cold in there
- Michael (10/5): Do not miss out! - Exceptional hosts, friendly and welcoming. The way the room is presented is amazing. The location is quiet, with a pub in a walkable distance.
You could tell the love and attention to detail in this venture. A homage to Yorkshire greeted us with local snacks ect. The room guide was well thought out.
The views in the morning made us feel very lucky.
Great selection of entertainment on the TV from streaming services.
Intuitive use of a QR code to order a breakfast basket.
Would/will book again! It wasn't even a big deal to be fair and made the stay all the more unique if honest. But the bathroom is situated in the main farm house a few dozen yards from the cottage. But do not let that put you off. We had an amazing if short stay.
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely brilliant stay. Fridenly welcome in a beautiful location will be coming again for longer next time. Owls flying past the window looking out at the sunset. Roe deer running over the farm path leading to the accomadation. Thankyou for a wonderfull stay.
- Ryan (8/5): Very good -
- Nic (10/5): Our stay was perfect from start to finish it’s one anniversary that neither of us will be forgetting in a hurry! - The location was exceptional the building and its surroundings were quiet peaceful and tranquil it was the perfect backdrop to celebrate our anniversary
The staff were so welcoming friendly and welcoming
Nothing was ever too much trouble for them
We couldn’t rate this property and it’s staff highly enough
We had an amazing stay and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!
Without question we will one hundred percent be returning! Nothing
- Allison (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly hosts
lots of lovely complementary extras on arrival
Very warm and cosy Nothing
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (9/5): Superb -
- Rowley (10/5): 5☆ highly reccomended - The lovely owners were fab & couldn't do enough for us. Absolutely gorgeous location very secluded. I thought it was closer to York than stated on booking.com however didn't matter as we drove.
- Mike (9/5): Superb -
- Meritxell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): A romatic recluse where pets are also welcome. - This is a beautifully isolated location for a romatic break. Local towns have a good atmosphere too. This is a special location with the bathroom in the main house.
- Rachael (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly great service and a lovely place to stay
- Rachel (9/5): Superb - Beautiful surroundings and wonderful rural location ideal for us country bumkins Having to go to another building to wash and use a toilet it's the only down side even a small hand basin to wash hands and face in the room would be perfect x
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dominic (8/5): Pleasant but just not for us - Unique, beautiful remote spot more suited to 'glampers', the owners were lovely and very eager to please Too remote for our liking, nothing in Bishop Wilton, it was an effort to even get to the pub which there was only one and not sure it was even open.
- Emma (10/5): Perfect spot! - The little house is cosy and modern with lovely extra touches (decor, furniture, welcome pack, fairy lights, hot water dispenser and coffee machine with plenty of supplies) and everything you need for a relaxing stay. It is in a picturesque location and perfect for a relaxing break. The hosts are friendly and helpful and available for any advice. Contact from the hosts prior to arrival was also very good.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property and will definitely return. I couldn't find any information about the cafe being closed prior to my stay. Luckily the hosts contacted me before my trip and I was able to ask.
- Kirsty (8/5): Perfect little cozy getaway - The location was so lovely and quite.
A lovely little property, perfect for a little getaway. Could of done with glasses and plates, but the hosts did bring them on request.
The bed was very squeaky and noisy.
- Smith (9/5): Peaceful, just what we needed to celebrate our Babymoon weekend away 😆 . - SO great and peaceful, we loved the fire pit, the fact we could just be left and be in peace, it was beautiful, was made to feel like if there was anything we need we could ask, very homely and welcoming. Yummy breakfast. Only 1 or 2 things more feedback than not liking, the bed frame is a little squeaky when you move a little bit you can hear it, I toss and turned a lot being heavily pregnant and disturbed my partner a bit. Going to the toilet that’s in a separate part was fine but I realised it was below the house and I had to go for a wee (being pregnant) again a few times and I felt so awful I was going to wake someone up but it was separate enough. A bit bigger bin as we brought our own food and stuff to light the fire but was nowhere big enough to dispose so had to leave next to the bin which I felt bad about ! Also was a little sad they closed their cafe a weekend before we stayed as was going to eat tea there so we would’ve been able to check in and enjoy the lovely atmosphere sooner ! Also need a key code for a lock box I was meant to get an email from the website but never did (or couldn’t find it)
- Fenfen (10/5): Very friendly and helpful owner, beautiful house and surrounding - A beautiful cottage surrounded by lovely relaxing nature. Loved it. Very cute and romantic!
- Mark (8/5): Very good - It was a very cosy, quiet place to stay with great outside space. The bed was comfortable, we felt very welcome and the continental breakfast was good. It was also a really nice touch to have some free snacks and water. It was almost perfect. It should be made clear in the description that both the toilet and shower were located in the main house, 20 metres away. It's quite a major drawback, which is a shame as had there been an en-suite bathroom, the Old Forge would have been perfect.
- Ronan (9/5): Fantastic location for a relaxing break - Very comfortable, clean, relaxing and pleasing on the eye Could of done with a little bit more lighting on the way to the bathroom
- Sophie (10/5): Perfect getaway - Gorgeous place to stay really relaxing perfect for a little getaway just what me and my parter was looking for, staff was lovely and welcoming and food at the cafe was delicious. I couldn't stay longer 😂
