- Nicola (1/5): So bad I only stayed 2 of the 4 days I booked - I have nothing positive to say about this place other than the kitchen and bathroom work as expected and it is a short walk to the beach. Issues with customer service before I'd even arrived. Poor response to messages (about 50/50 replied to). They charged my bank the £100 deposit 3 times. Only one transaction went through but the other 2 sat pending on my account for about a week, meaning that £200 was frozen in that time and I couldn't access it. This place is essentially a very dilapidated HMO. Apt 2 was in a poor state of repair with peeling paint due to damp, cracks and scuffs to the walls and the entire kitchen ceiling is grey with wipe marks all over it where black mould has been wiped off. Every room needs redecorating. There is no sofa in the main room so there is no way to sit comfortably and watch tv. The Internet wasnt good enough for me to stream tv on my laptop in the bedroom, just constant buffering. The bedroom smells of stale cigarette smoke and there were 4 spiders in the bathroom. Neighbouring buildings have smashed and boarded up windows. There is no free parking, all streets within a 10 minute walk are permit holders only from 8am to 6pm. Permits are not provided. On the second night of my stay I was woken around 2.30am by an unknown male in the communal hallway arguing with a female. This caused my dog to bark and then the male started hammering on my door and kicking it and shouting at and threatening my dog. I thought he had kicked the door in at one point and was scared for my safety. The pair left the building after another person opened their door and complained but returned approx 45 minutes later, still arguing loudly as they went through the hallway. In the morning, I knew that if I was going to salvage anything of my holiday, I needed to leave this accommodation. I had to pay £207 to book 2 nights elsewhere. I have never in my life before left accommodation i had paid for early. Obviously I complained to customer service about my issues but all messages were ignored.

- Mark (2/5): Very disappointed with the interactions with staff, and no contact from the emergency number actually ruined the stay fo - There was not a lot to like but when I got into a room it was clean When I turned up to the room allocated there was someone in there already, I had to phone and that took a while to get the right person but eventually got a room. Fire alarm went off also and was hard to get hold of anyone so had to wait outside for a long time and I eventually left because was waiting for over two hours with not a lot of help to resolve the problem

We had to ask another person who was staying there for a phone number to contact them. We had no access or communication and it took us half an hour in the dark to resolve the issue. The room was clean but smelt of cigarettes which was not a pleasant experience as we don't smoke.

- Scott (6/5): Disappointing that previous feedback hasn’t been looked at as everything is still the same - The location in regards to the beach is great and although we didn’t use the cooking facilities it was good that they are there So this is the fourth or fifth time in the last year me and my partner have stayed and each time we’ve given the same feedback and nothing has been changed, the sensor in the bathroom is too quick if you are showering at night you’ll be in darkness in about 30 seconds, there were cobwebs in the room, no mirror in the bathroom, the tv wasn’t working properly until I did a full factory reset, the window hasn’t been cleaned in a long time, there are two pillows which are both really thin and not comfortable and finally all the equipment in the room and bathroom seem to be the cheapest possible. I truly think this place has potential to be a great stay but the corners cut is really letting it down, there are cheaper places to stay in Redcar with better facilities and better location and cheaper so these will be what we use in the future

Not very comfortable seating, Tv not correctly tuned/connected to internet. Bathroom not on same level, with the size of room at least Shower could have been in room.

- Rebecca (5/5): Wouldn't recommend . - The room was clean and fine for a budget stay. When we arrived we were surprised to find that our private bathroom was a floor down and access was via a code. It was freezing cold and only hand soap was provided. I think it needs to be clearer that the bathroom isn’t part of the apartment and you have to go down steps to go to the loo in the middle of the night. The kitchenette was clean but we were only provided with two tea bags, two sachets of coffee, two sachets of sugar and two sachets of milk for a two night stay! We did appreciate the washing up liquid, sponge and cloth though. The wardrobe had three hangers which also wasn’t ideal. Another issue we had was that the tv was near the kitchen area so you can’t watch tv from bed. Internet seemed to work fine and luckily we brought a laptop to watch movies. The room was super sparse and it felt like sleeping in a giant cold kitchen - it really could have used some love - like a rug and a fake plant or something to make it less clinical. The walls were very thin - we could hear the man across the hallway snoring! Location is great as we wanted to be near saltburn. One of the most concerning things was writing on the wall above my side of the bed in red ink - we actually hadn’t noticed it the first night but it almost looked as though it said “raped”! Which obviously freaked me out a little. Next time we will pay more for something that feels cosy and safer. This was a budget stay for the new year and it out a negative spin on an otherwise nice holiday.

- simmonite82 (5/5): 4 weeks later still no deposit returned!! - Location was good for us. Bathrooms and kitchen were clean Upon arrival we got through the front door all OK. Found our room no.3 put our code in and it was already occupied by a young lady. We rang customer service and told me I was in wrong building (we wasn't!) We stood in hallway for about 15 mins until she rang me back to give me a code for a room upstairs (I'd asked for ground floor room upon booking as I'm awaiting a hip replacement) finally got in our room at almost 10pm after long drive. It was clean but smelled of curry. We had 1 paper thin pillow each so I called back for more pillows she said she would send some the following day, fortunately outside my room was a large linen box so helped myself to 2 spare pillows with cases. Our stay was OK a lot of people in and out the building, bed was a small double. MY WORST COMPLAINT IS I STILL HAVNT RECEIVED MY £100 DAMAGE DEPOSIT ALMOST 4 WEEKS LATER DESPITE ASKING BOOKING.COM AND THE OWNER OF THE PROPERTY. I WONT STAY HERE AGAIN

- linda (8/5): Very much an underrated place redcar was a hidden gem - The place was very close to beach convenient for local pub and shop accommodation basic but comfortable and clean comfy bed not sure about using shower and toilet down stairs but got used to it on the whole very good value for money and redcar was lovely an underrated place by people but I found it an enjoyable break and plenty to do. The Choatham side was beautiful.

- jOHN (6/5): A good property but communication for access the worst I've ever known. - The room was a good comfortable size and clean (apart from sink problem -see below). The location was good near sea (side sea view from front window) . Good to have apartment type kitchen facilities and en-suite. Access to the property was a nightmare. I 'messaged the property the day before arrival from the Booking.com web page saying with an eta of 7-8pm and that I hadn't heard from them did I need a key code etc. No response! On arrival at the property I saw the keypad on the door but we hadn't been given any info. I knocked on the door for some sometime - no answer. I researched my emails from Booking.com to make sure hadn't missed anything. Found a contact no for the property 447803561307 on email of 25/7 rang this but got a complete rubbish message. now outside for10-15 mins without being able to make contact. Eventually another guest couple came out. They told us you need to have the Booking.com app on your phone to get contact. This is NOT made clear anywhere. eventually got this down loaded. Two options contact via phone or message. Tried phone several times but kept getting line busy. The message option said I hadn't got a booking so wouldn't let me use it UGH!!! Finally got a call from them and was sent a WhatsApp with codes and other info. Got in after half hour or so after arrival. Such a pity as the room was good. I WhatsApp this complaint back but so far no response. Another problem of note was that the sink was completely blocked , a plate missing and lost hot water in bathroom. I reported this the 1st morning. Someone was sent round in the day. They sorted the plate and bathroom hot water but swapped dirty water for clean water in the sink but did not sort. This was still a problem when we left after 3 nights stay

- Ruth (10/5): Exceptional - The bed sit is beautifully clean. The bed is very comfortable. The owners were incredibly helpful when I messed up the booking, as was booking.com staff. I felt safe in the property and there is a fish and chip shop just down the road which is fantastic. I think that a small 2 seater settee would make the bedsit complete as you could watch the TV comfortably. We parked at the back of the building as there are no lines or signs for residents parking.

No one answered the phone when ringing so had to wait outside in the dark rain for half an hour before being let it by someone who lived at an apartment next door.

- Peter (2/5): Nothing like the description. - It was located close to where I needed to be for work. The property wasn’t as advertised. It wasn’t an apartment. It was a small double bedroom with kitchen facilities. The ceiling of the room was sloped and very low, so I couldn’t stand ip straight in half the room. The description detailed a dining area with seating and a desk. None of these were present, and there were also a number of other facilities which were listed which weren’t available. The description also highlighted a private bathroom. The bathroom and toilets were shared and four flights of stairs away. The whole building stank of cigarette smoke. I’m asthmatic, and the atmosphere was extremely challenging. I had to keep my room window open for fresh air in the middle of February. It was extremely cold both outside and in. The hallway smelt strongly of the dogs that lived in the neighbouring rooms which barked constantly, although they were sometimes drowned out by the arguing of their human owners. I was promised free parking. There was none. All the street parking is for resident permit holders only. When I challenged the owner on this he said ‘free parking subject to local restrictions’! So, in otherwise words, no street parking! Luckily, I found a friendly neighbour who was able to give me a visitors permit, otherwise I would’ve had to have parked miles away. I had to stay in the property for a week, and I was delighted and relieved when I was able to leave. It made me wonder if bookings.com actually checked any of its listings for accuracy. I would hesitate to book through the sight again.

- Rebecca (4/5): This is not an apartment, it's a bed sit WOULD NOT RECOMMEND - Good location on the edge of town close to beach and lock park. I've stayed in alot of hotels & bnbs both for work and leisure and its the first time I have ever walked out of a place I've booked and not been able to stay. Calling this accommodation an apartment is a stretch, its a bed sit . The price point of the accommodation means it obviously attracting a certain type of clientele staying here and not long after I arrived lots of teenagers rocked up clearly for a party, walls were paper thin so you didn't really feel that private or secure in your room as you could hear everything that everyone else was up to. When I arrived the window in the apartment was broke and wouldn't close properly it was bitterly cold and after a long day of travelling I wouldn't expect to arrive to accommodation with something like a window to be broken and for the room to be as cold as it was outside. I was refused a refund because I left the accommodation without taking pics of the broken window which only frustrated me more. I expect things like this to be checked properly before any guests arrive to save them hassle of having to reach out or change rooms.
- Caroline (6/5): Good location, but disappointing stay - Good location within walking distance of the town. Plenty of takeaways close by also. We were given wrong apartment number to start with. The bedroom had a heater but no telly. The front room had a telly but no heater and only a cheap table and chair set, nowhere comfortable to sit. Kitchen was fine, though no iron as stated on booing info. Bathroom was also ok but could benefit from a bathroom unit as we had no where to put our toiletries or towels.
- Melanie (4/5): Really disappointed - asked for a refund, but it got declined - Very clean and modern, I booked a room that clearly stated 2 double beds on the description (when I queried with accommodation, they called me a lier - I have a screenshot as proof of 2 doubles). Nowhere does it say that the shared bathroom, is down 2 flights of stairs!! The roller blind didn’t fit the window, therefore lights showing through all night! A dog was barking (in the building) evening, through night and v early morning! If the building was so quiet and I was told we are first booking it, why put us right at the top of the house!?? Could we not have been put closer to the toilet / shower room. WiFi code given was wrong! 2nd one didn’t work either! The password displayed in the room did not say which WiFi to choose (we spent nearly an hour messaging the property backwards and forwards & then guessing in the end!) Also I had to message them for the check-in details. Lovely modern kitchen however extremely bare for cooking aids. No pan to boil water (we had brought pasta!)
- Farrow (6/5): Not really happy - Clean and new Was stated we had a washing machine in the room which was untrue and then told to go in next door church 1 to use it which didn’t work
