Guest Reviews
- Weilyu (9/5): I would definitely stay again! - I had such a lovely stay at this charming cottage in the Hobart CBD. The location was perfect — close to restaurants, cafés, Salamanca Market, and the waterfront, yet still peaceful and cosy. The cottage itself was beautifully presented, very clean and warm.
The host was friendly, responsive, and made everything easy from check-in to check-out. The bed was comfortable, the amenities were thoughtfully prepared, and we truly felt at home during our stay.
Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Hobart — especially if you want a relaxing stay with convenience and charm.
- Kumiko (10/5): -
- Kate (8/5): -
- Johan (8/5): City edge - The bathroom is large with a large walk-in shower. Nice deck area with large glass doors looking out. The accommodation is in an older part of Hobart and the parking is time restricted by the council during the day on weekdays. The accommodation provides information about alternative parking.
- Joanne (10/5): - Cozy, clean and inviting room. Very private with a cute sheltered deck out the back which you walk onto from the glass doored room. Kitchenette and laundry were useful. The room had a lovely amount of natural light and it was well light at night. Comfy bed. Bathroom had hot water quickly and was fresh and bright. Good location close to the city. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Malcolm (10/5): -
- Luise (8/5): Great host, quiet place in garden - Steep stairs
- Mehak (10/5): Loved our stay! - Everything!
- Hilary (10/5): If you’re looking for a beautifully maintained, quiet, and welcoming place to stay with an outstanding host, I highly re - A Perfect Stay at Violet Cottage in the City
My stay at Violet Cottage in the City was absolutely exceptional—a true hidden gem! From the moment I booked, Kathy, the host, was fantastic to communicate with—always prompt, friendly, and incredibly helpful, making the entire experience effortless.
The cottage itself was exactly as pictured—beautifully presented, spotlessly clean, and impeccably maintained. Every detail had been thoughtfully considered, creating a space that felt both comfortable and inviting.
The location was peaceful and quiet, providing the perfect retreat while still being close to everything the city has to offer. It was the ideal blend of convenience and tranquility, making for a truly relaxing stay.
If you’re looking for a beautifully maintained, quiet, and welcoming place to stay with an outstanding host, I highly recommend Violet Cottage. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely be back! Nothing
- Dhirleen (5/5): Passable - That the owner provided extra
milk assorted spreads breads some fruit some Xmas treats
Washing machine Access to the unit many steps and fairly steep area to unit
Moving our car every 2 hours on week days
The plumbing was very noisy both in the unit and from upstairs
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Serena (7/5): It's a workout to get into the room. - My mobile phone died before I arrived and I had no idea what the code to lockbox was. I was sitting on the veranda ummming and ahhhing about what to do, then Kathy poked her head out of her front door and said softly "Hello Serena""Your room is down the path around the side and the code to the lockbox is ..".
Thanks Kathy, I was almost going to sleep on your veranda otherwise. There are steps and then more steps and then a steep narrow path and then the lockbox. Then there's a gate and then more stairs, which brings you to the door then the fly screen and a wonky angle you have to navigate your suitcase into.
I knew I was unfit after I had literally fell into the room, puffing and panting.
- Luke (10/5): Conveniant, Cosy and comfortable. Great location to base a visit to Hobart for work or pleasure. - It's in a great location, and I found it convenient to access Hobart on foot—it's about a 30-minute walk to the pier. The nearby Pigeon Hole (4 min walk), hanging gardens (10 min walk), and Paesano (10 min walk) were all great. The host was responsive, and the space was very practical and cosy. Good phone/data reception and access to wireless internet. I didn't have any major issues. A sensor light at the gate would be helpful, but I managed fine without & could use phone if needed. The shard trail out the back I found convenient, but is a little challenging to traverse - however access via the road while slightly longer is fine.
- Lloyd (8/5): Very good - very quiet and relaxing stairs down to the unit are quite steep and narrow
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - It was warm and comfortable for us and very quiet
15 minute walk to the centre of Hobart gives you a good look around
We enjoyed our stay 🫶 All good
- Ingrid (10/5): Cute cottage, tucked away but close to everything at the same time. - This lovely little space has everything you could ask for! A kitchenette fitted out well, sunny deck and large bathroom. Heating was very good and the bed comfortable. Nothing - the surrounding houses are quiet and the unit was as described.
- Leonard (9/5): A cosy spot not too far up the hill from the CBD, with all that I needed. - Kathy's good advice, and immediate offer of use of her dryer for my laundry after the nearby "Laundromat" turned out to be a cafe/diner.
- Ross (8/5): Very good -
- Melinda (9/5): Superb - Very spacious and comfortable, great location.
- Judith (9/5): Superb -
- Allan (8/5): Comfortable. Convenient. Quiet. - Location. Washing facilities. Nothing really. Kitchen facilities limited but certainly n=met our needs. A clothes horse would be a good addition.
- Nora (9/5): Superb - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Violet Cottage. Kathy was a wonderful and responsive host. We'll be back the next time we visit Hobart
- Helen (10/5): Excellent host, welcoming, and comfortable and well designed apartment, tasteful in every way. -
- James (8/5): We loved our trip - Close to all Facilities Side access to Unit was a little tight.
- Nicola (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (9/5): Very comfortable, good amenities, welcoming host, 15mins walk to the centre of Hobart, river walk al -
- Kimberly (8/5): Mostly suited our needs - It was a a nice room, very clean.
Almost every thing was supplied The stairs to the room were hard to navigate, there was not a hand rail for the step flat surface nor to tte stairs that lead into the apartment.
We had to use the hand towel as a bath mat to step out of the shower
- Cassidy (8/5): Beautiful location, friendly host and - The location was perfect walking distance around the Hobart CBD. There was accessible parking and the air bnb was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The only downside was the climate control. We were lucky to have incredible warm weather in Hobart, however the only way to get air through the room was with the door open, letting all the mozzies in. The windows didn’t open. Perhaps a wire door or similar would allow for the door to open and cool down the room without letting all the bugs in.
- Robyn (5/5): Passable -
