- Savitha (10/5): - Excellent service, thank you so much
- Gopi (8/5): - Staff
- Satheesh (1/5): -
- Sandeep (8/5): - The room was big and good. The staff was good. The elevator did not proceed to 2nd floor. The bathroom door did not have handel on the pulling side.
- Kenichi (7/5): - Smells funny like fish.
- Sahana (8/5): - The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. He helped us in navigation and also shared many other famous spots. It was a nice stay
- Sweta (9/5): Peaceful & Memorable. - Awesome views..
The staff was really accommodating. We reached before Check-In time and they gave us the free access to freshen up so we can visit the temple during the morning hours. They also allowed us to keep the bags and provided an access for a quick freshen up after the check out hours too.
+ the temple view from the terrace is really peaceful during the early morning hours/night. A/C works well & toiletries were also provided. Bus stand & Meenakshi Amman Temple are all walkable distance. No specific name board on the building, so you might need to call the staff.
- Kiran (8/5): Pleasent stay - Room was good and ac working properly, i stayed in third floor and the koodal alagar temple view is super. All good
- Sanjay (10/5): -
- Klaas 050 (9/5): Quiet place for the night - At first sight it does not look like a villa but inside it was a very pleasant place to stay for the night. Big room with huge bathroom, quiet airco. And the gave us a safe place to park our bicycles.
- Kothandaraman (4/5): -
- Vinay (9/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful
- Dani Serra (10/5): - The owner was extremely kind and attentive. Since I was arriving in the early morning, he gave me all the necessary support. He asked me to call when I arrived at the bus stop and was waiting for me before 5 am.
The room was spacious, clean, and odorless. The wardrobe was huge and clean.
The bathroom was gigantic, clean, and odorless. Good shower and good toilet flush.
The mattress and pillows were comfortable.
The sheets had some stains, but were clean and comfortable.
The ceiling fan was great for me, but I used the air conditioning during the hottest part of the day and it was super pleasant.
Very close to the temple, and the location has many things nearby.
But the highlight was the owner's cordiality and how he helped me, and since there were no other guests, I did an early check-in. Having a sign with the hotel's name would make it easier to find.
But since the owner shared the location, and Google did too, I found it easily.

- Clara (7/5): Very nice stay. The room was clean and comfortable. -
- Teju (7/5): -
- Sarah (7/5): - Location. However it was difficult to find. Signage needed. TV did not work. Hard to find. Lift did not work.

Closer to Madurai station and Meenakshi Temple - It’s clean property, More than that it gives you homely feel Just outside of property is not that clean, in night you would see homlesss people but you don’t need to worry I guess they sleep there everyday

- Vasudevan (9/5): Superb - It was very much satisfied
- Anish (10/5): Exceptional - Good staff Bathoorm
- Avvari (1/5): Worest experience, I dont want to recommend - There is no Break fast, worst experience in LA Villa Rani Please stand on words , don't cheat customers , don't kept fake photos in site
Rooms are soo smelling 😩 😫
- Kumar (5/5): Passable - Manager and other staff is very courteous. This property is near to a temple which is near to the Meenakshi Amman temple. But if you look at the photos in the website you may misunderstand that it is near Meenakshi Temple. There is no parking available at the site, you can park vehicle in the street and i paid Rs.100/- while check in time at 1 pm. And next day during check out (morning 8am) again they took Rs.100/- from me. Bathroom door has no handle and ventilator fully opened so ladies will hesitate to use it.
- Pritam (9/5): Dint Disappoint us. - Host was Responsive ,It was clean homestay and everything at a Walkable distance . It's was homestay so had a OLD look and AC was not efficient ,other than that Home stay had a Hotel service.
- Biji (7/5): Good -
- Sonali (9/5): Pleasant stay, fantastic location - Very friendly owner and another person from the staff
The room looked much better than on the photos
Fantastic location next to a beautiful temple, beautiful view from a terrace, quiet street
Very good restaurant Murugan Idli opening at 7 only 300m away, also chai stands with excellent chai near that restaurant
Walking distance to the Meenakshi temple only 15 min There was no name on the building, but very friendly people around helped the tuktuk driver to find the place
- Alfonso (10/5): Madurai Home - This place is amazing! The price is unbeatable, the location super authentic, the hosts are so kind and helpful that they even helped us for sending a package in the Indian Post Office! The rooms are spacious, clean and with good bathrooms! Great views from the terrace and free filtered drinking water
- Chandan (8/5): Very good - The cleanses just outside of the hotel,, its kind of dumping yard..
- Claire (7/5): Good price and closed to the temple - Staff was nice and helpful. It is near the temple. It smelt fuel in the room because of the gas station that is behind the bulding. Not easy to find because there is no indication.
- Williams (8/5): Very good - Very helpful staff, great location
- Simon (5/5): Cheap and cheerful - Difficult to find. No signs outside or inside. You have to take the lift to the third floor then walk down to the second.
Sheet available on request
Help with bags and onward booking No hot water to the shower or sink- only to a separate tap
- Aron (6/5): Stained pillowcases, noisy AC, mosquitoes - Good location. Yes, there were some homeless people around, but they were not dangerous and the one who slept right in front of the appartment even helped me open the gate, which is not so easy since there are several locking mechanisms. The staff was mostly friendly. The room and the bathroom were large. It was mostly clean, but the pillowcases were either very old or had not been washed for quite some time, in any case they had a brown-grey-yellowish stain, which was distributed unequally across the pillowcase.
Also, as mentioned in other reviews, the compressor of the AC of both my room and the neighboring room made terrible noise, which forced me to turn it off to be able to sleep, even with earplugs. This AC should be changed or repaired.
There was a hole in the mosquito net of the bathroom window, so a few mosquitoes entered.
A single small cockroach passed by as well.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Nikhil (7/5): Good -
- Rahel (9/5): Superb - Location, room, staff -
- Suresh (3/5): Poor -
- Hasti (7/5): Good -
- Daniel (2/5): Very poor - We just left the place in the middle of the night although we had a taxi booked for early morning. The rooms are not bad but we had to endure a VERY loud air compressor/motor the whole night directly on the back side of the building which made it impossible to rest. I am extremely disappointed that for this price this was never mentioned! Apart from this, the site does not have any sign outside of the building which makes it quite difficult to find. The taxi booked by the hotel would have charged us 700 rupies to the airport which is an exaggerated price for this route. We managed to book an Uber for 300 rupies for the same route.
- Ardhendu (9/5): I really enjoied my stay at LA villa Rani. - The hotel's location is excellent. It is very near the Meenakshi temple. The room was good, and the bathroom was clean. The staff was cooperative. Breakfast was good.
- Bas (8/5): Nice and simple place for a night in Madurai - Simple appartement with nice bed and a good shower. Nothing.
- Jyothi (4/5): Disappointing - Location is good but no name board so difficult to find the Location Bathroom could have been better
- Sf (3/5): Poor. - Poor location, had to fight your way out of prostrate people. Place badly in need of a renovation. Overpriced. Price, location, cleanliness, lifts that worked.
- A (8/5): Very good -
- Greg (7/5): Good -
- Clementine (9/5): Superb -
- Charlie (10/5): Good no problem - Very central, nice room, AC, comfortable bed, clean! And friendly staff no issues Nothing
- Zohara (10/5): Exceptional - The location was great, the room was pretty big qnd big toplets as well
Yogish was extremely nice! Always welcomed us with a smile
Yogish also helped us a lot with our local experience and
Really with everything we need
I recommend:)
- Leeladhar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bharadwaj (7/5): Good - Very accessible to the Meenakshi temple, and the staff were very kind and helping. The manager was very much responsive and quick to solve the problems. The room was stincking and bathroom was very slippery.
- C (3/5): Poor -
- Anastasia (10/5): Great central location, lovely staff, friendly neighbourhood - The room was nice and comfortable, I had the whole top floor for just me which was nice. The people working there were the nicest and extremely accommodating to everything I asked for (extra sheets, washing line, leaving my bag befor check-in, etc) and super friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic, short walking distance to the main bus and train stations, as well as to the old town centre with the famous temples and small side streets. The view from the terrace is great as well. There is a tea shop on the corner that I went to several times a day which was also really nice.
P.S. There are people sleeping/living just outside (as I saw mentioned in some other reviews) and they are super friendly and helpful and actually helped me find the building and get in when I couldn't figure out the latch. They never asked me for anything and were very kind and polite. I am a solo woman and felt completely safe at all times of day or night.. Nothing to complain about in the accommodation, I loved it and would stay again if I ever come back for another visit.
Madurai in general gets quite muddy/waterlogged if it rains and it can be hard navigating the streets without getting your feet wet, so walking is a bit tricky but not impossible.
- Ranvijay (5/5): Passable -
- Jibu (3/5): Below average - Clean Location, crammed
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rajendran (7/5): Good - Place is very close to koodal azhagar perumal temple. Temple car parking uses at extra payment. Staff are courteous. Room is at 3 floor but lift upto 2nd floor only. Aged person will struggle to climb
Coffee maker available but no creamer sugar or coffee powder to prepare!
- Satish (5/5): Passable - Room is clean Room is on 2nd floor. No lift available. No power back up.
- Rajasekaran (5/5): Passable - Location It is a homestay. Hence no facility like a hotel. Whatever the facility available is also very average. Personally we don't like it.
- Wjpc (9/5): Superb -
- Tomáš (6/5): Pleasant - The place is in a walk distance to the temple and on relatively quiet place, around options for dinind and small shops.
The bed was comfrotable, otherwise corresponds to the price. Ants in the room, no soap available. The room had no window, just an opening to shaft ventilation, containing ACs making quite a noise during night.
- Sabina (9/5): Clean room, helpful host - Clean, friendly. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The hotel isn’t clearly signed but everything else was great.
- Dharmesh (5/5): Passable -
- Chandran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Madan (8/5): Very good -
- Abhin (8/5): Very good -
- Bhuvanagiri (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oscar (9/5): Superb -
- Palaniappan (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent
- Kumar (6/5): it was average experience - nice experience as its opposite to vishnu mandir . cleanness of rooms are there rooms are not spacious
rates are costly as cpmpared to nearby hotels
there is no soaps in the bathroom
they dont have separately room service staff
they dont have room services for food for family or kids
- V (7/5): Good -
- Nihal (9/5): Superb -
- B (8/5): Very good -
- Sarath (8/5): Good experience - Clean and well maintained
- Mervin (10/5): Exceptional - Very secured, the owner was very friendly and approachable. Guided well in terms of food and travel. Right beside the temple entrance They should have kept the name board of this property.
- Jegadeesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vijay (5/5): Filthiest dirty location - Nothing. The location is on the most filthiest, unhygienic road. Stairs have no railings. The sink at 3 and 1/2 feet high with faucet close to wall; unreachable sink and no water flow.
No coffee. No name LA VILLA anywhere; taxi couldn’t locate the building. It’s a basic room situated in the most filthiest surroundings and on a gully road. Disgusting. There are many hotels with better pleasing surroundings and amenities like coffee, food for better price. Steep price too.
- Isabelle (9/5): Good Location, Great Host, Quiet Building - The host was very kind and helpful, the place is quiet and well located (10 min from the train station and the temple). Room was good, wifi was overall great. There are plenty of restaurants around. There is a weird smell coming from the bathroom and it’s very humid. If you close the door it’s fine.
- M (8/5): Very good -
- Jakob (10/5): Would always stay there again. Thanks for having me. - Very nice and clean room, superfriendly staff, professional communication, reasonable price. The standard double room comes with Ac and fan, towels, sheets, a kettle, some tea and coffee, water. Location near the temple (it’s not the main Meenakshi temple) is a good land mark for taxi drivers, also vicinity to bus Periyar bus stand and the railway junction is a plus. -
- Mahesh (4/5): Disappointing -
- Garg (9/5): Enjoyed my stay at La Villa Rani - The staff is very courteous. Yogesh arranged a vehicle for us to go to Rameswaram. This is a house stay. We had top floor to ourselves. Basic amenities. I would come back anytime to this place. No refrigerator or cold water, however there is RO water at room temperature. It is because local people don't drink cold water.
