• Isabella (10/5): Stunning property in an amazing location! Definitely recommend staying here - Stunning property in a great location. Breakfast was served until 11am and was delicious, a variety of freshly made cakes were also available each day which was a lovely afternoon snack after a day out exploring. We loved everything about the property, the only thing to be aware of is this property is in a busy area of Lisbon with a vibrant night life so we often heard people in the street all hours of the night. Not an issue though if you’re a deep sleeper!

• Birgit (10/5): Die Unterkunft hat zu einem insgesamt gelungenen Aufenthalt in Lissabon viel beigetragen. - Super Lage, außerordentlich freundliche Gastgeberinnen, sehr hübsches und gemütliches Ambiente. Das Zimmer war zwar klein, aber wie das gesamte Haus sehr geschmackvoll und liebevoll eingerichtet. Die Dusche war sauber und komfortabel. Das Frühstück hat alles geboten, insbesondere die hausgemachten Kuchen waren jeden Morgen eine schöne Überraschung. Sehr schön war der hübsche Garten, in dem man das Frühstück genießen konnte. Dass man am Abend noch einen kostenlosen Portwein im hübschen Ambiente genießen konnte, war immer ein krönender Abschluss des Tages.

• Carole (10/5): Très bel endroit, agréable et accueillant. - Endroit de charme et lieu paisible avec un oasis dépaysant à l’arrière de l’immeuble. Très bon accueil. Thé, café et boissons avec gâteaux maison nous attendent l’après-midi. Le vieux parquet des chambres grince et les cloisons sont fines mais les voyageurs sont heureusement calmes.
• Rita (10/5): Amazing breakfast, friendly and attentive hosts - This guesthouse was an oasis in busy Lisbon. The instant you entered the doors, a sense of calm and quiet came over you. Beautiful, lush, landscaped outdoor space. The common areas were many, all tastefully decorated with comfortable furniture, interesting art, books, and best of all, amazing food. The breakfasts were superb and ample, and the afternoon spread -- with 3 or more cakes, port, coffee and tea -- were welcome after a day of sightseeing. The hosts Madalena and Joana were amazing -- attentive, available and full of helpful information. They basically said: make yourselves at home and they meant it. We loved this place and will gladly return. Our room was on the small side but that's to be expected in a centuries-old building.

The common spaces were lovely, especially the outdoor patio where we had breakfast and home made cakes in the afternoon. Our room had a terrace which had an amazing view of lisbon and the river. I cant think of anything I did not like.

We loved the eating area/garden with a yummy breakfast and snacks available thru the day. It was a great way to start and end every day. The street was so quiet at night, but easily accessible to everything. Nothing. It was perfect!!

• Keren (9/5): Lovely stay in a very good location - The property was very well located, clean and quiet at night. The windows are very well insulated. Loved the breakfast with the homemade omelette and various cakes. What a treat! The main lobby area closes at 11pm which when coming back from our evening, we couldn’t get a bottle of water or chill in the area. There was also construction being done next door during the day which could be loud, but nothing can be done about that. Just hard to sit by the pool while a continuous saw is going off.

Back of the property with the seating and pool was a great oasis and the daily sweets were wonderful, decor was tasteful and gorgeous. The only feedback I could give would be more variety for the breakfast and more non alcoholic drink options

• Ryan (10/5): Charming Stay In Historical Building - Joanna and the rest of her family. are incredibly hospitable and welcoming at all times. More like a Bed and Breakfast than a hotel. Expect there to be complimentary snacks and cakes available often during your stay along with generous breakfast (courtesy of "secret weapon" Angelina in the kitchen), along with some free coffee/tea/port. Building is well-renovated, has character and charm, and a lovely outdoor area. Our rooms' bathroom door was squeaky, and it was fixed within hours by staff. As it was my birthday during the course of the stay, they even had a chocolate cake made and sent up to my room that day to celebrate when we returned, which was a nice surprise! No real "complaints". As it is an old building nonetheless and located where it is, you can still hear some partying from the Barrio Alto/Chiado area if your stay is during the weekend, although it's not excessively loud. If your neighbors on your floor or above you are noisy, you may also hear them, but everyone was respectful. The front door is also loud, but that's just a magnetic locking system. These are all not faults, per-se, just features to be aware of.

The location made it very ideal for getting around, right in the centre of the attractions, from crossing the Ponte 25 de Abril bridge to see the Cristo Rei, to visiting the São Jorge Castle. I was 100% return to this hotel if I thought of visiting Lisbon again. The ONLY flaw during my stay was the the walls/ceiling are thin, noise travels through the building unfortunately. We stayed on the first floor on the first night where we would hear the front door to the building being opened and closed throughout the night while we would try to sleep. And we would hear the room above us all through the night. However that being said, I mentioned this to the hotel manager the morning after and she was very polite, helpful and genuine about caring for the situation. She moved us to the top floor where we no longer experienced any other issues during our stay.

All of the staff were friendly and amazing, from the dining staff to the housekeeping staff. The grounds were IMPECCABLE. My room was so clean throughout my stay and the shower was a major highlight - along with the streetview and I couldnt believe that I could see stars from my window! The breakfast spread was delicious, I looked forward to it every morning, and the porto in the evening was a fun perk. Truly everything about my stay was top tier hospitality. I would stay there again and again. I was even able to check into my room very early, which was so unexpected. The location was perfect too, as was the information provided about sightseeing ideas (clear, concise, informative). I was so impressed with everything. Truly one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. I have zero notes for improvement.

• Philip (10/5): A comfortable, family-run, bijou bed & breakfast hotel near the centre of Lisbon - Apart from its well-placed location near the centre of Lisbon, this is a comfortable, family-run, bijou bed & breakfast hotel on five floors with a swift elevator from the entrance hall to the charming bedrooms. A member if the family is on duty from morning until early evening with recommendations on where to visit, how to get there and where to eat. Talking of which, the home-made tarts and cakes in the cold buffet breakfast are delicious. We will return! We could only stay for 7 days!

Morning breakfasts were delicious and they have a beautiful outdoor space in the back. We plan to come back to Lisbon and we will definitely stay at Casa do Barão. My only suggestion would be to get a room facing the back of the hotel vs. the street side because the streets can occasionally be noisy at night. Thank you!

The staff are so friendly and helpful, our room with the terrace was just lovely - lots of space, lovely view across the garden, nice bathroom, lots of drawers and cupboards for clothes. The breakfast was great - lots of variety including fresh fruit. The port and cakes in the afternoon was an unexpected treat. Very relaxed and homely feel, but at the same time the customer service was excellent. Great location - easy access to centre and tourist sights, ferry to Costa Caparica beach and train to Cascais. Nothing.

The hotel staff was outstanding—very friendly, always approachable, and helpful. Breakfast featured a mix of local and international dishes, always fresh and served straight from Angela’s kitchen. A big thank you to Angela and her team for this special start to the day. We highly recommend a visit to Lisbon to anyone interested in good food, friendly people, a great atmosphere, culture, and an international vibe. And once you’re there, you simply must stay at Casa do Barao to experience Lisbon at its best. Madalena and Joana made our stay wonderful with their great ideas and excellent recommendations for restaurants and special places. The hotel is located in the old town, close to restaurants, bars, and other attractions. The metro is just around the corner, as are the trams, including line 28. Despite this, it’s not noisy, and you’ll get plenty of sleep to prepare for the next day’s activities. The rooms are very well-appointed and modern; the entire hotel, including the rooms and bathrooms, is extremely clean and well-maintained. There’s nothing to complain about at the hotel—it’s simply great. One thing to keep in mind is that Lisbon is all hills, so getting to any destination takes some effort. But it’s worth it.

• Lesley (9/5): Beautiful Small Hotel in great location - A beautiful property. Quite eclectic. Loved the decor - especially the library. Nice breakfast including fresh fruit. Nothing! Our only problem was we were woken up a few times in the early hours from revellers in the street. We noticed there was a youth hostel facing up the road. I’d advise to book a room on the back.

• Thomas (10/5): If you're looking for above average, non hotel type accomodations, stay at Casa Do Baroa. - Casa Do Baroa is a true gem in all respects. From the moment you arrive, to making sure you had breakfast on your departure, Magdalena and her staff take the extra steps to ensure you have an exceptional stay. Excellent breakfast, room and location and the added plus of a glass of Port at the end of the day!! There's nothing not to like at Casa Do Baroa.

• Liina (10/5): Would definitely recommend for the location and breakfast - Great location, fantastic breakfast (and cakes!), and super helpful staff. We arrived early to drop our bags at the hotel and they were able to let us check in a couple of hours early! They also have great recommendations for places to eat and things to do. The complimentary cakes and port were the cherry on top

Great central location. Fabulous hosts - very helpful and welcoming. The whole place was very clean. Loved the eclectic decor - all very tasteful. Met lots of lovely guests there too.
