Guest Reviews
- Helen (10/5): A lovely location to recharge the batteries for the weekend - The location was ideal for getting around the local attractions, it's very quiet and peaceful. There's nothing I would change
- edwin (9/5): -

- Louise (8/5): -
- Danna (9/5): Wonderful old farm house, fully renovated with well equipped kitchen and lounge. Bonus wine tasting while viewing the St - Amazing views, scenery and delicious wine
- Scott (10/5): - Lovely and quiet location, had a fire we lit to warm the house. Nice outlook over the vineyard. Extremely peaceful
- Suzana (9/5): Will definitely revisit this peaceful and tranquil property in the future. - The property was breathtaking and peaceful. Rooms were comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped to prepare meals and the living space roomy and comfortable. Water pressure for showers and hot water took a while to reach showers.
- Andrew (10/5): -
- David (10/5): Relaxing stay in a beautiful house in a wonderful location - Fantastic location and view over the vineyards and fields to the Stirling Ranges. Very spacious, clean, well furnished and appointed downstairs shared kitchen and living area. Large upstairs bedroom with ensuite.
- Robert (10/5): Great place for a small group i.e. three couples. - Great location. Clean and high standard indoor. An old homestead with a character. Veranda overlooking a sloping down vineyard. View of the Stirling range from my window.
- Nieve (8/5): A peaceful farm stay with cozy comforts - The location was beautiful, in the middle of a small farm with vineyards and sheep. Although we didn’t spend much time exploring the property itself, it would have been lovely to walk around and take in the surroundings. The area was peaceful and a wonderful place to stay. As expected for southern WA, it was a little removed from the main tourist attractions and was about an hour’s drive to popular hikes or Albany. The house itself was cozy and comfortable, with a spacious and clean room that made for a very relaxing stay. The only drawback was the shower, which didn’t run consistently hot and at times came out only in a dribble or stopped altogether. I do understand that water facilities on a regional farm property can be limited, but it would have been nice to have a reliable shower rather than a cold dribble of water. Especially after coming home from a chilly hike.
- Widmer (10/5): I will certainly try to stay here again when I fly over to this part of Australia. - This share house is in an amazing location in this scientifically interesting part of this vast country. In a reasonable distance from Perth, the traveler is well located. The house is well set up with private spaces, with the kitchen and dining area shared with other guests.
- Neil (9/5): -
- Kayla (9/5): I would highly recommend! Close to some beautiful hikes. - They were very accommodating. Hosts were nice! It was clean and comfortable bedding. It was also nice and quiet. Shower pressure was poor.
- Robyn (9/5): Lovely location best for groups - Beautiful location with lovely views. Good wifi. Very clean, and well equipped kitchen with everything that you need to make a meal. Wine tasting was enjoyable. It’s not very far from Mount Barker and surrounding walks. We were in the room for just the twin beds and paid the same as the room with a king size bed and huge bathroom. But I guess it’s first in and first served. We were lucky to have nice friendly housemates however it could be uncomfortable if there were noisy inconsiderate guests as it’s is a bit of a share house vibe. We knew there would be other people so was all good for us. Probably best for groups or family to book the whole house. Not really for a romantic trip away as a bit weird to hang out in front of fire as you feel you are hogging the room. Suggest they put a double bed in the room with twin beds so that could still accommodate friends and also kids but be more convenient for couples.
- Sheik (9/5): The Grand Home in Kendenup - The location and the amenities at the place. .. Great for a walk.around the place ,Stayed in the Ground floor King Room , it was very much cozy with ample parking..
The View towards the Stirling Range Mountains is nothing short of beautiful...
Pretty beautiful Sunrise and Sunsets can be experienced from the home.... Bathrooms were old styled with individual cold and hot water taps and it takes ages for the hot water to be poured continuously...
It would be great if the shower area could be a bit bigger since the Spa or Jacuzzi could not be used...
Hot water in the shower automatically stops and becomes cold water...
- Lynley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruth (7/5): Good -
- Peter (10/5): Fantastic stay again and others in my party loved it too -
- Alex (9/5): Excellent - Good views at dawn/dusk.
Quiet/peaceful
- Baker (10/5): Splendid isolation. - Everything you need for a comfortable stay was provided; fully equipped kitchen, very comfortable bed & roomy ensuite. Fantastic location, so quiet but close enough to supplies or attractions. Perfect for getting away from everything! Nothing, it was great.
- Shepherd-cross (8/5): A wonderfully surprising visit with great wines! - This place was super clean and really well equipped. We were spoilt as we had the house to ourselves. We couldn't get the pizza oven to work. But this was a minor issue!
- Nick (8/5): Very good -
- Dayan (10/5): Exceptional - Great place to stay! Incredible view and close to everything you want to do nearby, such as Stirling Range National Park and Porongurup National Park. We also did a wine tasting with the owner, who gave us a great chat about the winemaking process. To be honest, it was the best place we could have chosen. - -
- Annette (10/5): We totally fell in love with the house and surroundings - Big beautiful fully equipped house and kitchen. Lovely view on the mountains from a double veranda.
Good beds, quiet. Good distance fron Stirling range NP
- Anill (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roshni (6/5): Overall good. - Beautiful location The daily wine tasting at the house. Wine glasses left for us to clear up after being put into our dishwasher everyday. As we stayed there longer than other travellers, we kept having to empty the other travellers rubbish from the bins. On cleaning the other rooms, the rubbish was not cleaned away. Coffee machine was a lavazza. So had to buy those pods as never got replaced and left the pods there for the next guests.
- Trudy (9/5): Superb -
- Benjamin (10/5): Truly sublime - The location and aesthetic of the house was incredible Everything was amazing I can’t even fault it
- Maree (9/5): A great little escape from reality - The beautiful views Nil
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional - Great location. The house is located about half an hour from Stirling Ranges (55mins from Bluff Knoll) and 45mins from the Porongurup's. The property was clean and comfortable with great views of the vineyard and ranges. Will definitely be back to hike some of the other peaks. Just be aware the other people can book rooms so if you want some privacy as a group, best to book all 3 rooms.
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Great location. Peaceful setting. Great amenities in the guest house. Very comfortable bed.
Great views. Staff very friendly. Enjoyed our wine tasting session. Everything was great.
- Croxford (8/5): Location fantastic, view of the Stirling Ranges exceptional, if down this way would do it again. - Took a little while and many bumps to the head to get used to the sloping ceiling in the loft double room and en-suite. Any male taller than 1.83 metres would have very limited access without stooping. Contrasting ceiling colour may save a few bumped heads. A small room heater or some other form of room heating would have been welcomed. But I needed an early night so all well. That aside grounds were perfect, room and facilities high standard.
- Ilya (10/5): Very pleasant people and nice location!Amazing views! -
- Yung (10/5): Great place to stay! - Stunning Stirling Range View from the room! Dave & Jess are very friendly and welcome! Great place for escape and relax! Will come back again!
- Barrett (8/5): We enjoyed our stay but there should have been more clarity around the wine tasting and its impact. - Location, cleanliness, comfortable beds, comfortable living space, stunning view of range. Wine tasting at the house and therefore privacy and security.
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Svetlana (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing stay in a beautiful place! Everything was of top standard. The scenic views and the birdsongs are the best additions to this peaceful escape!
- Janet (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely outlook and very relaxing stay in great comfort. Very spacious house though a bit sparse and light on cooking equipment. Electricity went off so no water as we were packing up and we couldn't wash up!!
- Lucinda (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly family owned business
Beautifully presented accomodation and stunning scenery
- Shay (7/5): Comfortable, clean and cosy - Jess was very responsive and helpful. We didn't realise that access was via gravel road, we were concerned about our vehicle, especially with the rain. Perhaps include the gravel road as part of the description. Also to have some more lighting if travellers arrive at night.
- Ssues (9/5): It was a great escape from the city - The house was so clean and bed was so comfortable and had the most peaceful sleep there. The view was just stunning of the vineyard and Stirling Ranges. The kitchen was well equipped, too.
- Gabriel (10/5): Perfect and cozy country house with sheep - We absolutely loved it. It was surrounded by a beautiful and huge garden, and we even got to pet the sheep, and the trees and flowers were so well maintained. Inside the house all rooms smelled so good, felt very cozy and warm and everything was so organized and clean. The room had a beautiful view and the kitchen had everything we needed. Everyone was incredible nice to us and helped with everything we needed
- Bjorn (9/5): Superb -
- Heather (10/5): Sheer bliss - The location - the enormity of the property - facilities - incredibly comfortable - very friendly greeting and even a wonderful sunset and sunrise added in Nothing negative at all
- James (8/5): Very good - The location on a winery, very quiet. Nice deck for a beer or wine looking over the vineyard.
- Volha (9/5): Superb - Nice winery, very friendly staff, great view
- Ferial (8/5): Very good -
- Sharon (7/5): It was alright, nice clean place, next time I would ask for a downstairs room. - It was a quiet location and the staff were very friendly The view from the window was covered by a large tree. I hit my head several times on the roof because of the shape of the room.
- Corinna (10/5): Remarkable! - Monderup Escape is what the name says: An escape. The quiet is amazing. You can literally listen to the wind and enjoy the sight of Stirling Range in the far. It‘s a special place that took my heart: remote, grounded and managed by great hosts/ caretakers. They offer their company and support if u want, and they‘d leave u at peace in case u prefer. The vineyard at Monderup is a perfect place to wind down.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Views Space
Mainly lovely hosts. Great atmosphere N/a
- Shaila (9/5): Superb -
- Verdet (10/5): Peaceful and a perfect getaway from busy city life. - The house was beautifully located in a peaceful and spacious area. The caretakers were exceptionally nice, hospitable and were willing to accommodate for our needs/requests. The house was clean and was equip with everything we needed. Nothing that my friend and I can think of.
- Florencia (10/5): Beautiful place, the caretakers are lovely people. The only thing I should say is the bath tub is ou - Beautiful place, the caretakers are lovely people. The only thing I should say is the bath tub is out of order due to water shortage. We booked it thinking we could enjoy a hot bath when we arrive but we couldn't. It was very cold the weather. This is why I booked it after seeing the pictures. Anyway, the place is clean and tidy. Beautiful place, the caretakers are lovely people. - Kevin (8/5): Lovely quiet location, very clean and comfortable. Great view over the winery from bedroom window. - Great location, Clean and comfortable stay, with good facilities. Would stay here again. Lovely helpful friendly hosts.
- Dennis (10/5): Great experience - Very clean newly renovated
- Anna (5/5): Passable - Lovely room and view. Lovely big bathroom but signs not to use the spa.
The email telling us that no breakfast is provided gad gone to spam. So no food available and a 15min drive to town.
Bedroom was large and comfortable but could hear the other guests moving in their room above and on the stairs.
- Sue (8/5): Fabulous and relaxing place to have a break, would definitely go back again for another stay in the future - Very quiet and peaceful, nature all around and very kind and helpful staffs. We were there 6 months ago and this time we took few friends along and they all love the place Do not think we have any in our past and this visits
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): Rest and relaxation personified - Loved the peace and quiet. The view was spectacular. We had the downstairs room, which was very large and extremely comfortable.
We enjoyed being able to sit outside and chill. The lounge chairs were extremely comfortable. We loved this place!
There were plenty of places to walk and it was a 20 minute drive to the Stirling Ranges Scenic Drive. Nothing
- Suhanya (9/5): Recommend the stay. Would love to come back. - Location was great. Calm, peaceful and loved the scenery. Lawrence and Michelle were very kind hosts. Very helpful and kind. Please change the old manual roller blinds on the windows to the one’s with the cord. So that it will be very easy for the visitor to manoeuvre it. We had difficulty to manage it.
- Ann (9/5): Next time would plan to stay longer. - Location. Close to the Sterling National park. Beautifully situated. Enjoyed the experience of staying on a working vineyard. N/A
- Bjorn (9/5): Superb -
- Kenrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harriett (8/5): Very good -
- Neil (9/5): Too short a stay to enjoy the scenery. - Great little spot I wish we had more time to spend there. We arrived late and left early on a business trip. We were welcomed invitingly, and the place was very clean and homely. comfortable beds and good facilities. Couldn't see anything we didn't like in our brief stay.
- Sheryl (9/5): Superb - The location was great the accommodation fantastic
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location Beautiful hosts so welcoming and just all round lovely.
- Greg (9/5): Superb - Lovely views. Helpful couple on site. Good facilities.
Stayed 6 nights, will look forward to returning in the future.
- Regina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caroline (8/5): Excellent location and friendly staff - The location and staff were friendly. I enjoyed everything.
- Don (10/5): Weekend Hiking Trip - Caretakers welcomed us and showed us around. Very helpful and I will return soon. Great location, very peaceful holiday. The house was very clean and the views were amazing Nothing, everything was great.
- Jeremy (9/5): Peaceful, remote with good access to the Stirling Ranges and Porongurups - Very peaceful property in a rural setting. Michelle was very welcoming and took us through everything and made sure we were ok. When my son became unwell she was very kind and sourced some remedies for us. We had the place to ourselves which was an unexpected bonus but it would work well as a shared guesthouse. The downstairs area is very spacious with a huge kitchen. The views to the Stirling Ranges are as good as everyone says. We stayed here to climb Bluff Knoll which is about 55 mins drive away. Mount Barker is the best option for a restaurant meal and that’s about 20 mins away. It was perfect for us. I’d stay here again with the whole family next time as there’s definitely space. The only thing we couldn’t quite master was the oven which was slow to heat and didn’t really get as hot as we needed. This could have been a user error though 🙂
- Shiny (10/5): Beautiful countryside stay! - Loved our stay here. The entire place was super clean and room was very comfortable. Special thanks to Lawrence who lit the fire place for us.
Amazing views of the mountains from front patio & upstairs room window.
We also got the opportunity to feed the sheep!
It was a refreshing getaway from city life. We would definitely go back there next year! Everything was amazing!
- Pia (10/5): Exceptional - The view I woke up to was absolutely stunning! overlooking a vineyard with the sun rising over bluff knoll, just wow! the house was clean, warm and cosy. The caretaker was super friendly and helpful.
- Libby (10/5): Exceptional - Made to feel very welcome. Spacious home, fantastically well equiped kitchen, quiet location and very restful Nothing. It was a great spot to break our travels
- Joshua (9/5): peaceful and quiet - clean and cosy. nothing
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Fernandez (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (8/5): Good location and happy with stay. - Communal kitchen and lounge were good but used by up to 3 different users. Lovely view over grapevines towards Stirling Ranges. No tv or comfortable chairs in bedroom. Cooperation required to use tv and chairs in communal area. Coded lock on back door which locked automatically when you went out unless you remembered to leave it unlocked on the inside. Water use restrictions were required as rainfall had been poor.
- Ellen (8/5): Very good -
- Amelia (8/5): Very good - Good quiet place to relax from city life. No road traffic nearby. The scenery is unobstructed view of nature. Hear the birds chirp in the morning and seeing the stirling ranges thru the sunrise and clouds. Jog up and down the orchards in the evening for exercise. Space to do yoga in your room. Great get away. First time in country/rural area. Just need to be aware that all the roads are not sealed and bitumen that you might be used in the city and metro areas.
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional - I had the upstairs blue room. To start with the view from the bedroom window of the Stirling Ranges is absolutely stunning!!!
Comfy bed, snuggly warm blankets, lovely hot water for showers!!! Not so much a dislike as a note for taller people... the blue room has pitched ceilings that are quite low in places... I bumped my head a few times before I worked it out🤣
- Liz (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): A wonderful, serene location with friendly staff. - A very peaceful location with wonderful views of the Stirling Ranges beyond the Vineyard. N/A
- Kalpana (9/5): We had an amazing time at the place! - Quite and tranquility.
Very welcoming hosts.
- Julie (8/5): Such a lovely view and comfortable facilities. Good location. - The location was great, the view was beautiful. The room was comfortable and fresh and clean. Very quiet. A good size kitchen, dining area and lounge. We had some instructions but did not know which was our room. It was 6pm at night when we arrived. The caretaker eventually showed us around and took us to our room. There were limited items for breakfast if one wanted to eat there.
- Jeff (8/5): After a sticky start, the rest of the stay was very good. - Didn’t have a breakfast and the location was really beautiful BUT see below. The view from our bedroom window of the vineyard and the mountains in the morning was surprising and caused us to say “wow”. Because I had not had time to read the e mail you sent on the day of our arrival which gave directions, the fact that you did not have a sign for Mondurup Escape and it was getting dark meant that we had great difficulty in finding you and even having been directed to your location, trying to find the house in the dark on what may or may not have been a dirt track was traumatic and the bumps didn’t do the car suspension any good. I apologised to Malcom for me losing my temper because of above and do so now again.
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laurie (10/5): Lovely location with beautiful views and excellent accomodation - Directions to location could have been a little clearer on google maps
- Mike (9/5): Beautiful scenery, an excellent outlook. - Location was superb. Not too far out of Kendenup. Beautiful view of the Stirling Ranges, and a lovely outlook over the vines. The bed in the main bedroom bed was way too soft for our liking.
