Earlier breakfast options would have been good + booking slot system for breakfast seemed a bit overcomplicated (or at least seemed unnecessary during our stay although I’m sure it was there for a reason.)

Great location, beautiful garden, walking distance from everything in Ambleside and central to the Lakes District. Parking on site and breakfast included. Very little.

• Lea (10/5): Would recommend everyone to go there - We had a wonderful stay at Brantholme and Joe and Frank made us feel welcome and cared for from the moment we arrived. The whole guesthouse is immaculately clean and they work really hard to maintain this. Our suite was so clean and beautifully decorated and the hours of time Joe puts into this are obvious there cooked breakfast and entire dining experience was lovely and Frank had carefully cooked. Everything too perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed it all and we will return ourselves at some point and very highly recommend this bed and breakfast to others. Nothing it was amazing

• Kathryn (8/5): Two nights in Ambleside on our way to Scotland. - Handy to town center within easy walking distance of restaurants etc. The owner flatly refused to make up the bed in the second bedroom. I booked this place because it advertised two bedrooms and three beds.

To be honest if I was to be very picky I would make stronger coffee. But that’s my preference and not everyone’s. Also take my own coffee as one sachet in the room wasn’t enough. But as I said that’s me being picky. It wasn’t anything that spoilt our break.

The location was perfect, we took an incredible hike just minutes walk from the property and the town was mere steps away as well. The hosts could not have been nicer or more accommodating! There is parking spaces off the road which is always a bonus. There is a hot Tub but you need to give 24 hours notice to book and we didnt realise this.

• Shelley (10/5): Prefect weekend stay - Brantholme is a lovely place to stay. Both hosts are beyond lovely and accommodating. Bed is really comfortable. We made use of the hot tub too. All round a great stay!

For me, the bed was too soft as I suffer with back ache, but I'm not the best sleeper anyway!!! And it's each to their own.. I prefer a firmer mattress 🙄

Enjoyed a soak in the bath before bed, and a power shower in the morning. We can’t comment on the breakfast, as we didn’t make it down on time (both mornings)! But that was down to us still snoozing and wanting to lie-in a little longer - we were very comfortable. It did smell lovely though.

The hosts were so friendly I felt like they were old friends. The house itself is great and tastefully decorated and good off road parking. The breakfast was excellent - nice one Frank! Difficult to say really - we did have a lot of noise on our 2nd night but that's due to the people below us which can happen in any B&B. Other then that no issues.

• Elaine (10/5): Fabulous stay, amazing hosts and perfect location. - This was a 5 Star Bed & Breakfast, the room was immaculate, breakfast was quality and nothing was too much trouble for the lovely hosts. The hosts were able to give us advice on places to visit and eat, we are busy nurses and needed to kick back. The dining had some quirky decorative items to look at, somebody with very good taste, we are planning our return visit. 10/10 :) fabulous.

• Matthew (3/5): Not as Expected - Breakfast was fantastic and the location is very good close to the Town Centre. Enjoyed being able to leave our car and walk to Ferry and into the countryside. We did not get what was advertised on the BOOKING.COM Website, which indicates 2 bedrooms with Double beds or Twin in each and a Longe, and could potentially sleep SIX !!! It was one Bedroom with a Double Bed and a Lounge. When we queried this at the house the Man very rude and assertive.

The breakfast was perfect and on the last day we couldn't have breakfast as we had to catch a flight so they made a sandwich for us, it's just luxury. The place is very central in perfect walking distance to pretty much everything in Ambleside. The place is very clean and well maintained. I can only say good things about the place and if I ever go to Ambleside again I will of course stay with Jo and Frank..

We stayed three nights and left wishing we could have been there longer. Rooms are super comfy and super clean. This may be a B&B but The service and rooms were five star!!!!! Location you couldn’t ask for better in Ambleside! Absolutely nothing!
• Lesha (7/5): Pleasant break with lovely surroundings - The breakfast options were very good, and the lady who served us was friendly. A good buffet selection of cereal, juice on offer in addition to ordering breakfast from the menu. Service was at a nice pace. Rooms were spacious and pleasant decor. Kept in good condition and clean. Check in was smooth as was check out. The ice bucket on the corridor was handy. Breakfast slots were limited in time offering which meant we had an early start on a Sunday morning as they were all at set times and taken pretty much straight away even though we checked in as soon as we could. The slippers serve no value and are a cost that could be saved by the business. The menu layout is too close together and would benefit from an easier layout that has improved readability. Plastic wine glasses would be best replaced with glass and a wine/bottle opener per room not one for the whole hotel left next to the ice bucket, which once you take to use and then return there is a note saying please leave for everyone to use! Says basket for additional complimentary tea/ coffee/sugar, which wasn't on offer and quickly removed when asked for, rather than just left out for all. These comments and feedback are based on the regular trips I go on with work, personally in and out of the UK, whether using this website or others and reflect my experience to help others including the business owners improve on service and experience
